Braydn pulls his daggers from his belt and readies himself, while quite unsteady on his feet.

Braydn lunges with his dual wielding skills, and attacks Alister with his daggers.

Braydn's first attack doesn't reach far enough, as he misjudged the distance in his drunkenness. His second attacks seems as though it would connect, but Alister does a tidy spin of her staff, knocking it out of the way. Her attack connects, bruising Braydn badly. He is close to bleeding, but not quite there.

Damage: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Braydn takes 5 damage, putting him at 5 health. It is his turn.

Braydn shakes the blow off and tries to regain his stance before attacking again. He lunges with the daggers once more.

Both Braydn's attacks connect, but he goes a little overboard, and the hold lady falls to the ground, bleeding. Ferro runs up with a medical kit, and frantically tries to stall the bleeding. The old lady seems close to death, but Ferro manages to stall it.

"Jeez, be a little more careful." She says, relaxing. "You almost killed her."

Braydn makes sure to stay with Alister until she's declared stable, while mumbling apologies under his breath to her the whole time. He is still quite clearly a bit drunk.
I think it might be about time to calm down and leave the festivities.... you know, before you kill someone... moron...

Braydn heads back to his cleaning hut to sleep for the night.


Level up!


You wake up early in the morning, before everyone else. Your back hurts a bit from lying on the straw mattress as you go outside, and you are greeted by the sun rising over the dunes.

What do you do?

Braydn finds a place to sit where he can watch the sun rise over the desert and waits for the rest of the village to wake up.


After a few hours of waiting, with nothing interesting happening, he sees a figure on the horizon, looking like a lone horseman.

Remembering his duty to protect the village, he gets up slowly and walks towards the figure.
"Morning! May I ask what it is your doing out here?" He shouts from a bit of a distance away.


"Braydn!" The figure shouts back. You see it is Opik Dikali.

"Braydn," he says, riding up beside you, "Quickly! We must ride in, and rescue my beloved!"

I was hired by a moron...
Braydn forces a strained smile and greets Opik.
"I, actually, I would advise against such a direct approach. The village does have some formidable warriors and I have gained their trust. Unfortunately, at the price of twenty gold crowns I could not buy your bride back, however I can assure you things are very much under control. Going in now might risk her life, or even yours!"


"Braydn, these are backwater peasants! They managed to capture my defenseless bride, but with us two great warriors, they won't stand a chance! And how dare they give her the low price of twenty gold crowns!?"

"Opik, I understand that you are upset, but these people aren't bad people. There are many children in this village, and people with stories of long lives. I can promise that I will get your bride back, but if you rush in now I can not promise my help. Perhaps instead I can take you to Big Tahuti and we can negotiate for your bride?" Braydn pauses, waiting for an answer.


Opik seems to deflate, slowing his thoughts down. "Yes... Yes I suppose so. That would be good. Lead on." He seems well versed in giving orders to people.

Braydn regains his smile.
"Follow me then. I thank you for listening."
Braydn leads Opik back to the village, to Tuhati's hut.


The door flies open as you knock, and big Tuhati comes out. "Why am I being woken at this ungodly hour of-" he notces Opik. "Oh."

"Give me back my bride, you brute!" Opik says, poking his sword in Tuhati's direction. "I'll pay you! Seven golden crowns! It's all I have!"

"Yeahh, no." Tuhati says, glaring at him with a bored expression. "Should have kept better track of your women. Men don't lose their loves. Braydn, you'll earn a fighting day's pay if you remove this fool from my town, and make sure he doesn't return. I don't care how."

"Perhaps there is a way we can resolve this for everyone. Opik, you can pay the seven gold crowns. Tuhati, you may lower my wage to one copper a day. This man only wants the woman he loves back in his care. This way Tuhati, you will save money on a warrior for your village and earn seven gold crowns. That sounds like a rather good deal, does it not? No need for conflict in this sort of situation." Braydn waits again, a smile on his face, hoping for the end of the conflict.


Tuhati is silent for a moment. A minute stretches by as he considers.

"Fine. But you will stay here and work for me at least until you earn thirteen gold crowns, without complaint. After that, we can renegotiate. Deal?"

Opik seems to agree if you will.

Braydn sighs to himself, before nodding.
"A deal it is. How perfect!"
Why is it you are the one taking punishment and paying for this girl? What are you getting in return!? This damn noble idiot probably can't even pay you....


Tuhati goes into his house and comes out with a skinny, frail-looking, absolutely terrified northern girl. She runs to Opik, and he hugs her. He looks at you.

"Thank you so much, Braydn. Once you are free of your service, I promise you, you will always have a place in my home."

Braydn nods and smiles.
"Happy to be of service. Now, if you don't mind, I have a village to protect." He bows his head and walks away, barely containing his frustration.

He only needs to work 1300 days to pay off his debt. Pooor Braydn.


Well, every day he fights takes off 10 days.

Braydn walks around, thinking about his new position, not much better then a slave.

5 days later, mid-night.

Braydn buys nothing because he's going to save up for a better weapon.


Braydn wakes up in the middle of the night, hearing rustling noises outside his house, as though someone is trying to be quiet, but failing miserably. He hears the distinctive clink of a weapon being drawn.

Braydn reaches for his daggers, which he keeps beside himself at night. He quietly gets out of bed and walks to stand beside the doorway, waiting to see if they'll enter his hut.


A man clad all in leather walks through the door, holding a dagger.

Roll initiative with advantage, because he is not expecting you to be up, and will be surprised.

Bandit initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13

Braydn descends on the bandit like the monster he is. The man doesn't even have time to scream as one dagger is planted in his chest, and the other licks out to cut his throat.

Braydn can hear more movement outside, but none of it seems to be coming any closer.

Braydn steps over the dead bandit and carefully looks out from the curtain that covers his doorway, searching for more bandits.


The town seems to be overrun. There are at least two dozen men slipping into houses, creeping around corners, and generally making nuisances of themselves. You seem to be the only town member awake.

Bandits. And of course there's no warning bell. Guess this is all up to me.
Braydn goes for the closest bandit to him, keeping in the shadows.

The bandit hears you, and his eyes go wide. He opens his mouth to yell.

Bandit initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Wow. So, he got lower on initiative than you. You get two rounds of action, but no surprise attack.

Braydn leaps from the shadow's to take the bandit out.

Dice:

Braydn cuts the man's legs out from under him, and speeds his way to the ground with a dagger in his chest.

23/25 bandits remaining, and they are mostly in the houses. You can hear some muffled cries of alarm.

Braydn quickly searches the body for anything useful. He then moves on to find the next bandit in his path. He begins checking the houses, following the cries.

Braydn is searching the bandits body.


You find a hunting bow 1d8+dex damage, range out to 150 feet, has disadvantage on attacks after 80 feet on the body, as well as 5 arrows. Those seem to be the only useful things.

You head into the first house, where you knows Alister lives. Two bandits are ransacking her house, but haven't noticed you yet. They look small and weaselly, like they probably are bad fighters, but the bedridden old lady can't even move.

Braydn raises his daggers and attacks the first bandit.

You creep up behind the bandits and, with chilling precision, slit both their throats. You are surprised. They don't seem very good in combat, and aren't that tough. Alister stares at you.

"Damn." She whispers. "You're good."

21/25 bandits remaining.

You hear crying coming from the next house over, up on the second floor. Three bandits are laughing as they poke at Veras with swords, making the lumbering giant stumble around as his tiny friend yells and tries to hit them.

"I have a door on the roof!" Alister says, pointing upward.

So, if you want to get to Veras and Valerin, you have a choice. You can go to the roof, and try and jump through the window, or you can go up the staircase, which will take longer. Or pick a third option.

As soon as Braydn hears Valerin shouting, he starts into action. He runs up towards the door and attempts to jump through the window of the house.

You jump through the window, landing with weapons drawn in the middle of three large men with swords.

Initiative:
Bandits: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
Braydn: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
Advantage: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

Braydn gets to go first.

Braydn's first attack cuts down the smallest of the men, but his off-hand is blocked by another one.

"Got ourselves a hero here, don't we?" They laugh.

One attack Braydn manages to block, but the other one slips by his guard, getting him in the side.

Braydn takes 7 damage, and it's his turn.

Braydn growls and attacks the bandits again.

"Bit of a fool we got here, huh?" The bandits says as they avoid your attacks.

One of them stabs you in the gut, and you feel yourself begin to bleed out. However, the man stares, terrified, as you stay up. Your claws extend, and so do your teeth.

Braydn drops one of his daggers and picks up a sword.
"Actually, I rather think you're the fools here." He attacks using Sword and Dagger, then attacks with his bite.
