The Heghland 1st - Only War (Inactive)

Game Master PhilOfCalth

A group of feudal warriors brought together from every corner of a world almost completely untouched by the Imperium, hastily trained and recruited by the Imperial Guard.
Can they survive when faced with the horrors of the universe?

Male

I need some sort of plan to move this forward. Do far I have Jeramie doing a suicide mission up the cliffs to the wall while everyone else sneaks in as dead people in the back of the ATV

Male Weapon Specialist; Wounds: 1/12

Honestly, I'd rather die with meatshields *cough friends around me, so if we do the casualties route with the rest in guard outfits, I'll be going with them.

Bookstore Proprietor Librarian Bard

Like I said before I really have no idea what we should be doing. I don't know how we do this without getting slaughtered

Male Medic [Damage/Wounds 1/13 | Fate 1/1 | Insanity 1 | Initiative +3]

Then let's get slaughtered! I'm on the camp of staying at a base, observing the going-ons and waiting for someone to go in/out so we have a vague idea of what to do. If we can ambush someone going in, we can get information from them and possibly a way of listening in on their communications, if I'm able to get the right skills and enough experience. It would be better if Garion had his leg fully healed before we attempt anything riskier. Of course, some of you could climb the mountain to scout ahead, but mountaineering isn't my strong suit.

Male

OK so that's 3 for driving in with some people dressed up as Dominate troopers while the rest play dead in the back.
Is anyone else pro Wikvaya's ideas?

Otherwise we have to decide who plays dead and who gets an enemy uniform

Bookstore Proprietor Librarian Bard

Works for me I will play dead w harmon

Male

Just to keep record that's Cort & Harmon plus (assumingly) Eirik & Miriam playing dead under a sheet. That laves Cormeg & Carno, Garion Wikvaya and Jermaie with enough spare Dominate armour for 5 (plus a 6th chest plate)

Also there is the question of what the "dead" are going to do with their armour, it will look kind of obvious, even under a sheet

I'm just going to say that you got enough Dominate lasguns for everyone. That seems reasonable

Male Weapon Specialist; Wounds: 1/12

I like the infiltration plan. However, I'd also be willing to wait a few days observing base traffic and guard scheduling and things like that. However, judging by that picture, it'll be difficult to stay out of sight in order to observe the base properly. What I'd be willing to do is climb up the mountain for a better look and stay up there with some food for a day or two (because I'm terribly set on falling to my death).

Male

Indeed. You can watch trafic to and from the base without much problem. Trafic on the walls or within the base will indeed require climbing

I'll give you a +5 to your climb (Athletics) test if you leave your armour behind

Male Weapon Specialist; Wounds: 1/12

Jermaie will do it, without the armor as well. Doesn't look like anybody's got binoculars or anything like that so I'll have to rely on my eyesight. I'll take a bit of food up there with me and scope it out for some time, probably a day or too.

Is that cool with everyone. I won't make the test until I know we're all on the same level with the plan.

Bookstore Proprietor Librarian Bard

Cort will come with Jermaie since he has the best eyes of anyone, also without armor

1d100 ⇒ 34 vs 48 so 2 degrees of success

Male Brawler WS 47, BS 34, S 41, T 52, Ag 32, Int 30, Per 26, WP 38, Fel 39, Wounds 16/16, FP 2/4

Plans coming together then? Groovy, once the planning and scouting is done, we can get to the action haha.

Male Weapon Specialist; Wounds: 1/12

Welp, nothing to it but to do it.

Athletics; Strength:32+5(without-armor)=37: 1d100 ⇒ 46

And of course I freaking fail it.

Male

Yes but only by 1 degree, I'm not even going to make you fall for that

Cort, Harmon and Jermaie climb the mountain with little incident though Jermaie nicks his hands, arms and legs multiple times and is tired when he reaches the top.
They find a spot that over-looks the encampment. Instantaneously Cort realises that this would be a great sniper spot. The back of most of the wall can be seen from here and the guards have no cover. you also have a good overview of the rest of the complex and it would be difficult for anyone shooting back at you to find cover. Furthermore the rock of the mountain makes excellent cover[/ooc]

@Jermaie - Take 1 level of fatigue. Please give me a perception tests and a Common Lore (Imperial Guard) test
@Cort - Please give me a perception test and a Common Lore(Imperal Guard)
@Wikvaya & Anyone helping him - Please give me an awareness test to watch the comings and goings from the base

Male Medic [Damage/Wounds 1/13 | Fate 1/1 | Insanity 1 | Initiative +3]

Wikvaya watches the road.

Awareness {48 = Perception 48}: 1d100 ⇒ 28

Bookstore Proprietor Librarian Bard

lore 1d100 ⇒ 63 vs 8
percep 1d100 ⇒ 26 vs 47 (adding heightened senses

Male Weapon Specialist; Wounds: 1/12

Perception: 39: 1d100 ⇒ 67

Common Lore(Imperial Guard); Int=29: 1d100 ⇒ 49

Jermaie's exhaustion renders his perceptive and mental faculties practically functionless.

Male

Cort can make out 3 distinct buildings within the walls.
A large blocky plasticrete building that he notices most of the troops stay in at night and go in and out of during set times of the day.
A smaller building which gets less traffic.
The tower which gets the most traffic day and night and seems to be constantly awake.

There's also the guard tower which hangs over the 1 entrance, and always seems to be manned.

Cort will also notice that the climb down from this side would be much easier than any before (+10).

Male

Over the few days while Cort Harmon and Jermaie are away Wikvaya notices only 1 large troop movement that travels from the base. Otherwise the coming and goings are restricted to rapid moving scout vehicles and patrols. The patrols seem to be well armed and looking out for something.

Male

@Cort & Jermaie - Please give me a Toughness test for each night you spend on the mountain. The ground is rough and rocky and if you fail you get little sleep, and cannot remove fatigue. If you fail by 3 or more degrees you gain 1 level of fatigue
You'll have to had stayed at least 2 nights

Bookstore Proprietor Librarian Bard

I am sure this is going to go well

Bookstore Proprietor Librarian Bard

2d100 ⇒ (51, 61) = 112

I have a level of fatigue. woohoo, maybe I should just jump off the cliff to get down.

Male Weapon Specialist; Wounds: 1/12

Not sure if it's two nights or three, so here's three to be sure.

Toughness(1): 31: 1d100 ⇒ 49
Toughness(2): 31: 1d100 ⇒ 50
Toughness(3): 31: 1d100 ⇒ 17

Jermaie's still fatigued, but he doesn't gain any more levels.

Male Brawler WS 47, BS 34, S 41, T 52, Ag 32, Int 30, Per 26, WP 38, Fel 39, Wounds 16/16, FP 2/4

The emperor protects, but jumping off a cliff stills seems like a bad idea.

Male

OK so if the pair on the mountan want to reduce their chances of falling when climbing down they're going to have to tell me how. Otherwise it's another +0 athletics test

The next scene will be you all driving up to the front gates. I'll post it tomorrow unless anyone has any objections

Male Weapon Specialist; Wounds: 1/12

I've got nothing. We don't have rope or anything like it. The only Idea I have is to use the entrenchment tools somehow but even there the idea is a dubious one. I'm just gonna roll for it.

Athletics; Strength=32: 1d100 ⇒ 26

Hey look I made it.

Male

You do have rope, you made it using survival to help climb the mountain in the first place.

Fatigue gives you a -10 per level of fatigue to all tests... But hey you made only failed by 1 degree again. So now you have 2 levels of fatigue. 1 night's rest will cure your fatigue completely though.

Bookstore Proprietor Librarian Bard

and it is not possible to rest on the mountain right?

I have a good athletics let's go for it!
1d100 ⇒ 17 booyah

Male

Resting on the mountain required you to pass a toughness test to loose fatigue. 3 or more degrees of failure caused you to gain a level. That's how you gained your fatigue in the first place.

Cort and Jermaie return with word on the internal workings of the base, both looking tired from the their time spent on the mountain.

Bookstore Proprietor Librarian Bard

ah ok, I wasn't sure if it was because we were watching also.

Cort reports what he saw, then he lays down and goes to sleep

Male Medic [Damage/Wounds 1/13 | Fate 1/1 | Insanity 1 | Initiative +3]

"Hmm. The patrols are worrying me as they seem to be on the look-out for something. But what? Remember that the only thing we really need is the General's location. Our target is less the army and more the mind that runs it. If we proceed as planned, then we go in, get the information and, if the general is not there, get out. I recognize we have a plan for getting in but not for getting out. I doubt they would just let troops. Their routes seem strictly regulated."

Wikvaya sighs. "Ah, this would be easier if their camp was in chaos now. I have the poison but not the means to administer it. For getting out, may I suggest poisoning their troops and throwing doubt and suspicion? Tearing them from the inside would be ideal, but a distraction enough for us to escape is sufficient."

Male

I'll give you all some time to respond to wikvaya

Also with Eirik back he might want to drive rather than play dead, so we may want to re-arange who gets armour.

Also also those under the sheet have to tell me if they're wearing their Heghland fudal armour

Bookstore Proprietor Librarian Bard

Cort will wear his plate, the idea being that he is one of those brought back. Leave it to the talkers about why they broughtt the bodies of the enemy.

Dont forget Baldur rigged those charge packs to explode that should do it.

Male

Which charges?

Bookstore Proprietor Librarian Bard

Baldur was going to rig charge packs from the troopers we killed to exlode. lasgun packs, we kept some of them but the bulk of them he was monkeying around with. not sure when it happened, but it was around the time gar ion and Cort were debating how the emeperero didn't really care about them

Male Weapon Specialist; Wounds: 1/12

Jermaie responds to Wikvaya. "We saw three building while up there on the cliffs. 'Bout most of the troops kept 'round one buildin', so I guess that was the barracks. We've got the tower also, most like' the general's place and one last building. Way I see it they ought'a have some kind of armory, and I'd say that was it. We set a fire in there and that's bound to be enough distraction to get out of there."

Jermaie yawns and leans against a tree. "Bloody hell, bugger that uncomfortable cliff. Here's what we've got. Four of us hide under the sheet and the rest in the back as casualties. We say we're bringing the bastards in ta' show the man in charge what kind of blokes we're up against, maybe say they had valuable intelligence or somethin' long those lines, get in there, get to the tower, infiltrate, kill the bloke, set the distraction with some kind of signal and bust out'a there when nobody's the wiser. I'd be willin' to go in the back as well. I'm not to good with speeches, you know."

When they're finished talking, Jermaie will get some much needed rest.

Liberty's Edge

Never finished the rolls for that. We got bushwacked first. But that is what I would like to have been working on while we waited phil. If you would let me.

Male

Your time healing was spent fixing the vehicle, but you did have 3 days while Jermaie & cort were up the mountain

Liberty's Edge

Male Male human Operator/Medic Wounds 11 Fate 1

Works. I want to rig some power packs to explode when they are charged. Preferably after reaching full charge for greater yeild. At what penalties would you like me to roll?

Male

How are you going to test that it works?

Come to think of it, what spare laspacks do you have after the dark eldar attack?

Liberty's Edge

Male Male human Operator/Medic Wounds 11 Fate 1

wasnt worried about testing it and dam that's right no spares now. Hmmmm. Let think...I may just have to rig something in their compound to blow .

Male Medic [Damage/Wounds 1/13 | Fate 1/1 | Insanity 1 | Initiative +3]

"I would say it is more likely that they shoot the captured without bothering to ask questions, and find their information from the bodies. And even when proved that the captured are more useful alive, it is unlikely they bring us to the General and instead an interrogator or some other officer."

Medicae {110 = 60 int + 10 medicae + 10 master chirurgeon + 30 improved medikit}: 1d100 ⇒ 60

Depending on how Jermaie counts his wounds, he's either Lightly Damaged (only suffered 5 damage), or Heavily Damaged (suffered 7 damage). If he's Heavily Damaged, add a -10 modifier to my medicae check.

Also, I'd prefer to keep armor. We'd be dead several times over without armor. If I would suggest... get more armor. Ambush a scouting patrol to grab their stuff and get more information. We can possibly use the scouting patrol itself to get in.

Male Weapon Specialist; Wounds: 1/12

"Well, the 'dead' can either play dead, then, or else we can hide ourselves underneath the crates of supplies, 'lest we haven't enough. I'd think it too risky. We haven't the men or supplies to survive another ambush. I say we go for it, all or nothin'."

Male Brawler WS 47, BS 34, S 41, T 52, Ag 32, Int 30, Per 26, WP 38, Fel 39, Wounds 16/16, FP 2/4

"If the emperor wills it, we will succeed, is that not what they say?"

Male

It looks to me like you're coming to no better conclusion than the let some of pretend to be dead. If I'm wrong let me know

Bookstore Proprietor Librarian Bard

yep play possum

Liberty's Edge

Hmmm. Is there anyway I could rig a compartment big enough for a few of our guys in the truck phil? Or is it a case of it just won't fit? And I'm sorry guys I got nothing on the idea front.

Male Medic [Damage/Wounds 1/13 | Fate 1/1 | Insanity 1 | Initiative +3]

Medicae (Eirik){110 = 60 int + 10 medicae + 10 master chirurgeon + 30 improved medikit}: 1d100 ⇒ 86 If Eirik needs it.

No further suggestions other than what I've already said. I'll go with whatever, even though Wikvaya will curse you guys out for being suicidal. :P

Like a false floor? The few supplies you got came in crates, but you have no tools to pull them appart or nails to put them back together... Do you? Otherwise I can't think of another way

Liberty's Edge

Male Male human Operator/Medic Wounds 11 Fate 1

Yeah I have a combitool for working on the vehicle I would imagine it could work that way at least to get the nails out....
