Umbryl Char |
" Perfume huh? Well.... As long as we can sell it I guess."
Umbryl comments as he holds his mace up to spread the light spell into the next room. Green mists coalesce around his hand as he prepares to shoot the coffin with acid.
" Sure looks a lot like the other one..."

Combat Over
Searching the funeral chamber:
Inside the sarcophagus, Akhentepi’s mummified corpse wears an exquisitely crafted gold funerary mask. One of the chests contains Akhentepi’s armor --a magic suit of padded armor he wore in life. The other chest holds a disintegrating cloth sack filled with 500 gp, as well as a small, well-preserved darkwood coffer. Inside the coffer are two potions, an ornate lapis and carnelian pendant, and an assortment of carnelian, lapis lazuli, and turquoise semiprecious stones.

The padded armor radiates magic
Sabola |
"Now I'm no healer type, but it doesn't take a genius to figure out how he died."
Pause for effect
"Padded armor? Come on, he could have afforded better, that stuff is barely better than wrapping yourself in papyrus."
Umbryl Char |
"Hmmp." disappointed that his only contribution to this fight was to hit a dead critter, Umbryl climbs off the sarcophagus and casting detect magic, studies the armor.
Spellcraft: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (18) + 6 = 24
" It's lightweight and magical, great for a hot dry environment like this. In the open desert, plate-mail can kill as easy as a knife to the throat. It is designed to stop bleeding wounds, and has the added benefit of a slight gift of prescience. Not too bad really."
Read the spoiler. What's the spell fail on this? wouldn't effect a magus but if its low enough might be great for Faisal.
Dusty Fireseeker |
perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
So another beast dead. Or magic device. It could be a curiosity. Lets take it as well, maybe we can sell it.
Dusty Fireseeker |
I think dusty is a very oblivious cleric, based on her perception rolls. No wonder the bugs attack her. lol
Setesh Bantling |
I am going to assume that I receive a Guidance from Dusty before doing this...
Appraise: 1d20 + 6 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 6 + 1 = 24.
"I think that the funerary mask is worth 500gp, the coffer is worth 50gp, the ornate lapis and carnelian pendant is worth 70 gp, and the assortment of carnelian, lapis lazuli, and turquoise semiprecious stones is worth a total of 55 gp."
He breathes a sigh, and pinches the bridge of his nose.
"Now, can we get out of here?"
Basically, I would like to head back to town, report in, and sell loot / purchase items (the first purchase should be a group one of a Wand of CLW).
Perception 'take 10' = 19
Setesh also carefully sniffs the potions.
"It looks like we also have another Darkvision potion, and a potion of Lesser Restoration."
Dusty Fireseeker |
Dusty smiles at Faisal and says No objection from me. But I thought armor impeded arcane magic?
Setesh Bantling |
Loot tracker updated. Summary is - if we all chip in 150gp for a Wand of CLW, after we do so, our total take (per PC) is 532.84 gp.
I have not included the potions or silversheen in 'items sold', because they are useful consumables that we should probably keep, and use.
Dusty Fireseeker |
looks complete, I was just making sure.
Well, we have finished this tomb, I think. Let's head back to the Temple and let them know. Then we should sell what we can, and prepare for the next tomb. Let us collect what we have and go. Remember not to harm the body.
Dusty stretches and says, [b]it will be good to have a drink.[b]
GM Tribute |
The group loads up and prepares to leave. After midday, you climb the rope and exit from the sealed door on the desert level. A few of the other mercenary companies have come to watch you as you leave. Many of them cast an arcane spell that Faisal identifies as a detect magic spell on your group as you leave.
Sebti the Crocodile arrives as you return to the Living City. She gives you a warm smile.
You have finished exploring the tomb, and discover that your second assignment will be given out the following day.
Umbryl Char |
Slapping Faisal on the shoulder, Umbryl says..
"No problem man. If you can use it, so much the better..."
Glancing at Dusty..."Soooo, would it be bad if I scraped that gold leaf from the sarcophagus? It looks like there might be a bit there."
If she doesn't have a problem with it he will take the time to glean it. If she does, he won't. Either way he makes sure to grab the papers and scrolls of information, hoping to gain a few gold from the historians or the church
" Man I am glad that's over with. We managed to rake in some loo....er, we found info and artifacts that will help the historian's with their....uh... histories. As long as they recompense us for our efforts....."
GM Tribute |
As you return to the Grand Mausoleum.
Sebti and her underlings ask about your general impressions of the site and whether they feel they explored it fully. The Pharasmins are always keen to know who was actually interred (or even lived) at a site, and are eager to learn any historical information you were able to glean, which the priests add to their own records and maps of the necropolis.
Sebti informs you the following day you will be exploring a private estate and gives you a map with a clear X on it. House Pentheru is marked above your site. There is little to be found out about this obscure family, except for one with some historical knowledge....
Umbryl Char |
After selling or turning into the church the documents and shield, Umbryl will inquire around about purchases.
Looking for a MW longsword ( or if we can find someone to cast the spell to turn my Silver sickle into MW costs 300 gp saving the cost of the weapon.), Potions of CLW, scroll of Infernal healing and a couple flasks of unholy water or devils blood... Wand of CLW for group purchase for Dusty to use.
Setesh Bantling |
@Umbryl: Re: Masterwork Transformation, that is the component cost - you still need to spend 60gp for the 'spellcasting services' fee (spell level x caster level x 10gp), so purchasing a new weapon is more economical. The spell is only worthwhile when we can cast it ourselves :-/
Make that 533.14gp each, after purchasing a wand of CLW ;-)
Purchases/sales as follows:
Sold: Alchemical Silver Battle Aspergillum (+12.5gp), Thieves' Tools (+15gp), Leather Armor (+5gp)
Purchased: MW Alchemical Silver Battle Aspergillum (-325gp), MW Thieves' Tools (-100gp), Chain Shirt (-100gp), Alchemist's Fire x2 (-40gp)
Sabola |
So the party has a CLW wand now, and each PC has 533.14 gp to spend?
"Would any of you know where a fellow could purchase a better blade? This old falchion gets the job done, but a finer one would be helpful. Additonally, that would likely leave me with several hundred extra gold, should anyone have need for a loan, or suggestions for other items the group might need."
MW falchion findable in this locale?
Dusty Fireseeker |
Dusty will also purchase a mw scimitar, a three anti toxins (for all yhe gugs that want to bite her)
