Anafa, Yamyra |
I realized that after I checked the map again after posting. Yes, I will. Looks like they will be in range from the bottom of the stairs. Unless the Nuperibos come closer, in which case she will wait until they are in range.
DM Eric |
Yamyra advances past the other members of the party to the bottom of the staircase seeking to damage one of the devil-spawn. Her acid glob strikes the nupperibo on the left but the acid merely dribbles down its skin to puddle on the stone floor before finally dissipating. Acid Resistance.
Round 1: Yamyra, Ganer, Horven, Nupperibos, Gared, Carmina, Fancy.
DM Eric |
Ganer moves up to face the nupperibos while helping to shield Yamyra from their attacks. The move appears to have paid off as the slow-moving mindless devils move down the stairs and stop next to the tiefling, ready to strike him.
Ganer, you may take your readied attack now.
Round 1: Yamyra, Ganer (Readied action), Horven, Nupperibos, Gared, Carmina, Fancy.
Carmina Scarnetti |
Drawing her silver morningstar as she does so, Carmina quickly interposes herself between the nupperibos and Yamyra, before trying to swing her weapon towards one of the devils. With abysmal results.
Move to O70 and attack the nupperibo at N70.

As Ganer stepped forward and readied himself to meet the monsters, Gared fired a pair of arrows at the devil the tiefling hadn't engaged.

DM Eric |
After dispatching the devil-spawn, you continue up the stairs. The chamber at the top is empty of anything of interest, but for a passage heading west. You continue through it and find yourselves back in the statue room, having entered from the east door.
So far the only way you have not progressed past is the magic circle room, though there are unexplored areas to the east.
Ganer Jitesh |
"If there was reason to be wary of the circle, I would know better than most, would I not?" Ganer asked, irritation clear in his voice. He had risked his safety for the others' sakes, and what did he get for his trouble? Ignored, at best. "There is little left to explore anyhow, why put it off any further?"
Gared Naught |
Gared nodded in agreement. "Seems as good a path as any. I suspect we'll encounter that imp the other devil spoke of when we head that direction. We best be prepared."

After a brief discussion, you decide to brave the magical rune circle. As you look on it, it appears exactly as you left it before. Ganer steps through the circle...and, other than a faint tingling all over his body, is completely unharmed.
Unfortunately while the circle itself is no problem, the same cannot be said for the flame in the middle of the circle which seems to expand outwards before splitting into a pair of living, mobile bonfires, tongues of flame darting over their bodies. They immediately move towards you to attack!

I don't suppose you will let me use create water offensively? No? Well, it was worth a shot.
"They are minor fire elementals. Stay back, they will set you on fire if they can." Ganer said, wondering if a sling would work on creatures such as this. He decided that there was but one way to find out.
He stood his ground as he placed a bullet into the pouch, and then swung and launched it at one of the elementals.

Ganer's sling shot flies wide of the elemental, however Yamyra's spell connects and oddly has the effect of extinguishing a portion of its flames.
Undeterred by the tiefling, both elementals advance on him...but fortunately he is able to fend off their blows with becoming scorched.

Gared steps in front of the others and with two well-placed shots sends the elementals back to where they came from.
COMBAT OVER!
As the elementals dissipate into their fiery components you notice that both the flickering flame burning with no apparent source of fuel in the middle of the room is still there, as is the glowing rune circle. Heading south there is a corridor continuing as far as you can see, broken up by a door in the east wall about 20' down.
Anafa, Yamyra |
"Well, that seems rather anti-climactic." Yamyra states, somewhat flatly. Turning to Ganer, she adds. "I apologize. If we had heeded your earlier statement, we might have already dealt with this."
"Fancy, we should take advantage of your present enlargement. With that, Yamyra & Fancy proceed down the Southern corridor.

Sorry for disappearing for a week. Everytime I tried to post something interrupted me. :(
"Well, that was some pretty shooting!" Carmina says, giving Gared a friendly and light (in her opinion, at least) pat in the back, then follows Yamyra and Fancy down the southern corridor.
Gared Naught |
Gared missed a step as the tiefling "patted" him on the back, but his face lit up as he continued along, hustling to take point with Fancy again.

Leaving the west door behind you, you continue down the corridor. After several dozen feet the passage opens to the west while continuing south. You see a room a short distance away so Fancy and Gared peek inside.
This room appears to have once been an ancient alchemical laboratory, but most of the equipment here has been smashed. As you take in the scene, you see two vaguely humanoid figures consisting of roiling waves of flesh, half-formed limbs and a dripping tumorous face. With a rolling wave of flesh they advance towards you!

Ganer Jitesh |
There were any number of things that Ganer might have said to Yamyra, that he'd become accustomed to being disregarded, that they would have taken this path anyway, or several other replies. He kept his silence though, because he was s surprised by the apology in the first place. He had no idea how he should take her words, so he simply didn't.
In the next room, he continued the now familiar pracatice of trying to identfy their foes bcore rushing to combat thm.

Her blow is partially deflected by its rubbery skin however. Yamyra slips behind her eidolon and enlarges her. Gared's two bolts are wide of their mark.

After Carmina and fancy are unable to finish off the final lemure, gared is sure his silvered arrows will be needed...until Ganer hobbles forward and dispatches it back to the bowels of Hell.
COMBAT OVER!
Yamyra stands guard outside the chamber watching for any signs of other creatures, but all is quiet.
Gared Naught |
"Hmph..." was all the dwarf had to say as his companions ended the fight without his aid, moving to take the lead again after collecting his arrows, a sour expression on his face.
DM Eric |
After a quick search of the ancient distillery, which shows nothing of value left, you exit the chamber where you see an additional entrance into this chamber.
The corridor continues south before it bends to the left after a short distance, heading east and continuing as far as your vision shows where it appears to descend downwards. However you also notice there is a stone door mounted in the east wall opposite of the distillery chamber.
Fancy |

Fancy quickly squeezes back past the others to once more stand between her anchor & possible danger.
DM Eric |
You turn your attention to the stone door. Horven gives it a quick look over and announces there are no traps on the door. Fancy tried to pull the door open but quickly discovers the door has shifted on its hinges and seems to be stuck.
Go ahead and give me a STR check. Fancy and two other characters can attempt this simultaneously (Aid Another on this check as well).
Carmina Scarnetti |
I don't think that an Aid Another would do much good here. :P
Carmina shakes her head at her companions' pitiful attempts at opening the door. "When go back to the city, I'll have to make sure that you get more exercise... Now move a bit so I can show you how it's done.
Strength: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
But despite her boasting, Carmina succeeds in budging the thing only a little more than Fancy had.
