"If your deft hands would take it, I'd be happy to distract."Nasir says with a coy grin.
Winston Chareth |
"If we simply steal one of the passes, the harbor master will likely notice its gone and increase security on the harbor. But, if we steal one and make a copy, then replace it... he won't know, and the blockade won't have heightened its defenses."
"Anyway, let's see what the Society can do for us, first, and then stoop to more... questionable strategies. Also, in case the document is too risky or difficult to filch, we should probably have some backup plans on how to raise the rest of that money good and quick."
Winston Chareth |
Winston's gaze sort of glosses over and he continues talking, slightly under his breath, "Or maybe we leave the harbormaster with the forgery and keep the original, hoping that the forgery will pass without sincere scrutinization for a few days, giving us time to escape with the original...." he trails off, lost in his own thoughts, as is prone to happen to an old man.

1) You can go to the society, but they tell you that you will have to take a loan that you will be required to pay back with no interest. You will be able to pay for it at any Pathfinder Society Lodge that you stop at and you have until the completion of your mission to pay the loan back. You must pay a portion of it monthly until the balance is paid.
2) You also hear of a person who can do the forgery. But it will cost 10,000gp. Forging a harbormaster's pass is not only really hard to do, but if caught can result in being jailed and work as a slave for over at least two years. But it is possible.
Winston Chareth |
"10 thousand gold for a 2.5 thousand pass? Now that's just unreasonable... but based on the reputation, I think the forgery is likely out of my league."
"What do you guys think about taking the loan from the Society? I'd be willing to do it, just so we can get off this rock and start doing our real jobs... but I do hate being in debt."
Kalynn StoneHammer |
"Well I'm not fond of the idea of jail time SO I guess we go ask to barrow the money. First we need to see how much we have between us to see if we can lessen the amount we barrow. This is just a suggestion however." Kalynn looks at the pouch she was given by Taldor and think about the new sword she could have, but instead puts the bag on the table."I've got 500 GP here and that's 500GP less we'd have to barrow."
Nasir al' Shahaadi |
"I can add 400 myself." Nasir replies. "And I would bery much rather keep my freedom"

I guess the dice only roll high for Lenarial when the GM rolls on her behalf :D. So that makes for 1,500gp earned for the item! Adding Nasir's 400, Kaylnn's 500 and Winston's 600. Our total is 3,000gp.
So as the party agrees to pool their resources and loan out the rest, they proceed to sell the gloves. The party receives 1,500gp after an hour of negotiating with an eager buyer. With the additional donations from the party, the party has enough to purchase the pass accordingly from Captain Jack. With all of you in tow as witnesses of good faith, Jack proceeds to properly procure the document from the Harbormaster. Jack then escorts you to his ship The Cutlass
JalmerayGM |
Although she is quite the beauty, her size keeps her from being fast like those new smugglers runners. Says Jack looking at the ship beaming with pride like a father looking at his child. But she's all mine, and I shall not complain about it. He escorts you onto the boat where you meet the crew.
Mates! Meet our newest clients, and I expect ye to behave yourselves in their presence! There are seven other men, and one elven man well dressed.
So this here gentleman is Cadwyn. Introducing all of you to the well-dressed Elven man. He is my first mate, and will help in anything you may acquire. Then there is Joseph, Caldon, Marcus, Albert, Edward and Sarq. Miladies, do not fret them, as they all have lovely lasses at home in Oppara, where we are heading next! Prepare the sails gentlemen!
The entire crew cheers and immediately begins to work and prepare the ship for travel.
Miladies and good sir, we will be ready to leave on the evening tide, which will be in about two hours. If there is any last minute adjustments that needs to be made or items purchased, now would be that time. Says Cadwyn in a calm and genteel manner. He shows you all to the lower decks.
The lower decks of the ship have small rooms for each party member with a hammock and a water basin for washing. The doors have locks and close promptly, and there are plantation shutters on the window to allow air in and out of the room. There is a desk in each room to allow writing or other correspondence if needed. Although it's not glamorous, it is relatively clean and allows privacy to all members.

"At last, we get underway on our journey! I wonder where the various ship hands are from, and what tales they can tell. I particularly like the looks of that elf, Cadwyn. He looks like...well, like someone I once knew."
Making diplomacy check to get the various backstories (if relevant). Also *highly* interested in Cadwyn's backstory, if he ever served in the Taldan court, and if he has any relatives.
Diplomacy = 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25

Cadwyn is no relation to the RL PFS character of Venture Captain Daniel Lucket. Nor is he a reference to Game of Thrones as well.
Winston Chareth |
Winston inspects his room and, nodding with pleasure at the prospect of being back at sea. He drops off his unnecessary gear and heads back up to the deck to make a proposition to the Captain.
"Say there, Cap'n, mind if an old man relives his glory days on your rig? I've got experience at sea, and might be able to help out around here."
Profession (sailor) 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

Your trip to your first point of call of Oppara, Taldor was uneventful. Winston spent the trip assisting the crew wherever possible. As a result the shared the additional specialty wines they had bought with their wages from Absalom.
Lenarial learned that the entire crew of The Cutlass has been with Captain Jack since they purchased the boat three years ago. Although they all know about Jacks' terrible financial troubles, Jack always made sure that his crew always ate and drank well.
"A well cared for crew means a well cared for boat." Sarq said once to Lenarial "I am glad that he always took care of us, even if he himself is broke. But I worry that he is going to one day run out of money to even keep us fed. But he is a good man and a good captain."
After two days at sea, the boat arrives in Taldor. After chatting with Capitian Jack, you all check into the Pathfinder Tavern & Lodge in Oppara. A three story building, the lodge is quite expansive and amazing from the outside. But on the inside, it is a bustling place of music, ale and conversation.

"By the light of Sarenrae, it is good to be able to stretch my legs again!" Lenarial exclaims. After making sure her various suitcases are stored, she meets with the Venture Captain in charge of the Lodge, to see if there are any threats against the Society presently, and if there is anything she can do to aid them.
The following occurs assuming the VC doesn't have anything Golarion shattering to report
After her quick meeting, Lenarial heads out for a brief tour of the town. It has been years since she has walked these streets, and the memories make her cautious. She wanders the town, seeking rumors and information, while testing the mood on the street.
Making a stealth check to be a forgetable low noble. Diplomacy to gather information. Kn: History to find out anything of historical import to our mission. Perception and Sense Motive to see if I'm being followed.
Stealth 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Diplomacy 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Kn: History 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
Perception 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 = 21
Sense Motive 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Nasir al' Shahaadi |
Nasir takes great pleasure in taking in the sights of Oppara. She spends time at the Lodge, trading stories with other performer, and after a few requests even performs a dance or two for the appreciative crowd.
When the opportunity arises she seeks an opportunity to meet with the chapter master.
JalmerayGM |
Kalynn: Unfortunately, as you are traveling through the city of Oppara, you do not learn any new techniques about forging. However, one of the local blacksmiths speaks with you about Jalmeray blacksmiths having a small trading post in Ketapesh, and that they utilize a lot of new materials that can only be primarily found in Jalmeray.
Lenarial: You move through the city quickly and quietly. Luckily no one notices you do anything out of the ordinary, you are just another face in a great crowd.
Winston & Nasir: As you enjoying a drink in the Tavern, and spending time with fellow loremasters, you hear of a few rumors about zombies recently being purged from the area. Apparently, there was a cult who decided to create an undead raid in a local theatre. It was rather insane, but Pathfinders were dispatched out and they handled the undead .
Winston Chareth |
"A zombie opera of sorts, huh? Sounds like a real mischievous character must've been behind that charade," he says with a laugh.
Assuming nothing too drastic occurs during their stay that would require much more attention, Winston is prepared to spend his time relaxing in the Lodge until the time of their departure. He wants to save his energy for the expedition which will soon be at hand.
Nasir al' Shahaadi |
Nasir makes a few notes in regard to the issues with zombies, recording as much reliable information as possible. Over the course of the next few days she enjoys the sights of the city and takes full advantage of the lodge's facilities.
Nasir will also seek out the chapter master to see if any further messages have been forwarded for her.
