Luke_Parry |
Other than the faint abjuration that suffuses the complex, you do not detect any other magical auras in this room.
The creature had definitely been banging into the podium, but a quick glance around the room shows that it had *also* been banging into the walls, floor, and ceiling. The greatest amount of damage, however, is to the wooden door exiting this chamber, which appears to have been barred from the other side.
Lysassa |
Lysassa nods at Thorack.
"I wonder the same..and we still haven't found the source of what ever is stealing the corpses from upstairs. It certainly wasn't this floating head."
"If everyone is feeling alright I suggest we go back to the crossing and take a look left and right and decide based on what we see on where to go next. And if everything turns out to be equal..let's take left"
Luke_Parry |
Okay, just for clarification, in case the map was not clear, there is a door in the room you are currently in, which appears to have been barricaded from the other side. Back down the corridor, there is a door either side of the corridor, and at the end of the corridor, there is a set of double doors, and a corridor going left and right.
Thorack Stonecutter |
If possible, using his crowbar and with someone assisting, can Thorack take 20 on trying to open the barricaded door? If not, I'll roll below.
Strength Check w/Crowbar: 1d20 + 2 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 + 2 = 21
Faerin Boulderstep |
Faerin assists as her eagar hands finds purchase attempting to aid her fellow dwarf.
Assist Strength 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Luke_Parry |
The door swiftly yields to the combined might of the two dwarves...
...However, as soon as the door is opened, Darkness spills out into the hall!
Just going into initiative in case people want to do something...
Thorack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 2 = 19
Gyre: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22
Kelian: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (7) + 0 = 7
Faerin: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
C: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Round 1: Gyre, Faerin, Thorack, Lysassa, C, Kelian
Please remember that although the map *has* been updated, unless you have Darkvision, you are currently blind.
Faerin Boulderstep |
"Hey!!"
The eagar Faerin runs after it.
Thorack Stonecutter |
"What in the world...why is it so scared?" Pondering why it was so scared, Thorack decides to look inside the room that the creature ran from.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Perception with Darkvision: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (16) + 8 = 24
Luke_Parry |
Peering into the room, you notice the following:
Religious carvings depicting the judgment of souls cover the walls of this room. A stone pedestal with a bowl-shaped depression on top stands in the northwest corner. Wooden cabinets and chests of drawers line the walls.
Lysassa |
Lysassa looks at the creature and tries to remember if she knows anything about it.
Knowledge (Arcane/Dungeoneering/Planes/Religion): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
"There's a raggy looking halfling sized sort of creature running around in the middle of the darkness. It's moving for the other door. About 3 steps forward and slightly to your right Gyre, go get it."
Lysassa then casts virtue on Gyre (+1 temp hp for the next minute)
Luke_Parry |
Gyre cautiously moves forward and attempts to trip the creature, but as he cannot see it, his swing goes wide. The creature does, however, shriek in alarm.
"Ne! Nech mě na pokoji! Já jen chci jít domů!"
The creature then withdraws down the corridor with surprising speed.
For the record, there is Darkness spilling out of the room, but there is *also* Darkness centered upon the creature.
Expressing disgust, Kelian delays, waiting to see if anyone needs healing.
Round 2: Faerin, Thorack, Lysassa, Gyre, C, Kelian
Faerin Boulderstep |
Faerin jumps on the creature attempting to bring it down to the ground with a clash of discordant metal.
Grapple but provoke Aoo 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
Thorack Stonecutter |
Thorack will draw arrows and hold his action on attacking the creature that Faerin is grappling. Should Faerin take damage by the creature, Thorack will shoot twice.
Potential Flurry of Blows Shot1: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6
Potential Flurry of BLows Shot2: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5
Lysassa |
Lysassa will take a look at the room the darkness is spilling out of to see if there's anything dangerous in there and try to figure out what the darkness is which is spilling out of it.
Knowledge (Arcana or Planes or spellcraft?): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Faerin Boulderstep |
Darn, Charging it isn't gonna help here either. No grapple at all. sigh. Faerin is just going to keep after it. Maybe use the above roll as a Diplomacy check sort of? At a -1, I don't think it'll help. :P
Luke_Parry |
Especially since the only language it speaks is something none of you know ;-)
Faerin moves along after the creature, but starts to lag behind...
Thorack prepares to shoot it, if it poses a threat.
Lysassa determines that the spell Darkness has been cast.
Gyre delays, unsure what to do.
For its part, the creature continues to hustle, quickly disappearing around the corner to the right.
Round 2: Faerin, Thorack, Lysassa, Gyre, C, Kelian
Kelian to end Round 2. Everyone else to start Round 3.
Thorack Stonecutter |
"I think it's just scared. What worries me is that it's making a lot of noise, and who knows what might come looking. That's what I think we should prepare to handle."
Faerin Boulderstep |
"I be not fast enough to catch it." is her dejected reply seeing her quarry get away from her. Faerin hangs her head in shame but for a moment.
Luke_Parry |
Okay, I will assume that we are out of initiative at this point.
With the creature rapidly outdistancing here, Faerin gives up the chase.
Thorack has more time to explore the chamber, and is able to describe the following:
Religious carvings depicting the judgment of souls cover the walls of this room. A stone pedestal with a bowl-shaped depression on top stands in the northwest corner. Wooden cabinets and chests of drawers line the walls.
Another door exits the chamber opposite the one that you have entered by.
A careful search of the room turns-up approximately 100gp of miscellaneous ancient Pharasmin religious paraphernalia.
A Detect Magic sweep might also be useful ;-)
Lysassa |
Lysassa will join in on the search in the darkness ( seeing as she is able to see stuff ;) casting detect magic and take a look around.
"There's a door on the other side of this room. Religious carvings depicting the judgment of souls cover the walls of this room. A stone pedestal with a bowl-shaped depression on top stands in the northwest corner. Wooden cabinets and chests of drawers line the walls."
(for those people who can't see what's inside)
Faerin Boulderstep |
Faerin stands guard at the other door since she can't catch the creature.
Lysassa |
"Not sure..it might have been a spell the creature cast..in which case it should stop soon..or it might be some item or artifact..like that pedestal over there or lingering presence in the room...in which case I have no idea."
I'd like to take 10 (for spellcraft 19) to identify the cloak and the 2 scrolls, in case you can't take 10 on that (or a 19 isn't enough):
Spellcraft to identify the cloak: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24
Spellcraft to identify scroll 1: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (8) + 9 = 17
Spellcraft to identify scroll 2: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (11) + 9 = 20
After that Lysassa will try to determine the cause of the darkness in this room and how long it will take
Spellcraft?: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27
Luke_Parry |
@Lysassa: For future reference, you can't take 10, and then roll if 'take 10' is not enough - you need to choose one or the other. Fortunately, 'take 10' is sufficient, here.
Lysassa is able to identify a Cloak of Resistance +1, and two Scrolls of Delay Poison.
She is also able to determine that it is probably the spell Darkness which is suffusing the room; a spell which lasts for 10 minutes per level.
Lysassa |
Ah, sorry I thought you could retry to identify them if you failed e.a if the take 10 would turn out to not be enough. Just looked it up..you can..but you can only attempt it once a day - so my mistake.
"It's going to be dark in here for a while. We might want to move somewhere else and return here later when everyone can see here again.
Also I've found this magic cloak which will bolster someone's resistance and 2 scroll which will delay the onset of poison. Anyone feel they will get the most use out of this cloak?"
Lyssasa will hold up the cloak so everyone can see it.
Lysassa |
Here goes nothing ;): 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 Lysassa stumbles around a bit in the room.
"The darkness will be centered on an object..we might be able to cover it and make the darkness go away..if we manage to find it"
Faerin Boulderstep |
"Can't you find the magic on it?" questions Faerin.
Luke_Parry |
Lysassa stumbles around blindly for a few moments, before deciding that a thorough search would be better. Eventually (after a few minutes), she realises that the stone pedestal with the bowl-shaped depression is the focus of the spell. Covering it up with some cloaks is but the work of a few moments, following which the darkness is banished.
There is nothing else of interest in the room, but at least everyone can now see :-)
All that is left is the unopened door on the other side of the room...
nightdeath |
(A4) Tools, clothing for servants, firewood, and other miscellaneous supplies are kept here.
And A Rat the size of a Dog.
It lunges at Vidas.
Bite 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 101d4 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Init Order

Big Fat Rat
Faerin Boulderstep |
Face Palm... The disease of running too many games at a time. I'm sorry.....
Thorack Stonecutter |
All that is left is the unopened door on the other side of the room...
Are you referring to room 15 on the map? I thought I opened the door to the south, the creature ran out and escaped. We entered the room to the south. The map listed above doesn't have a room to the south, unless I'm clicking on an old map. So, are we in that extra room and there is another door in there?
