Searching through the mist is annoying, but not difficult. The far end of the room, now that there is time to take it in, contains a stone altar. Luxurious fabrics adorn it and the area around it, stained now with the spatters of blood and dirt from the melee. Several dark candles and incense burners glow softly, their sickly sweet odor mixing with the tang of blood to make a truly vile miasma. At the base, several pouches and bags contain herbs and incenses for the burners.

On the neatly organized workbench, a number of tomes are stored. Their text is written in a strange tongue, mixing Aklo, Osiriani, and Undercommon words. Each of these languages give a +2 to checks to decipher the tomes.

DC20 Linguistics or Necril:
These books are religions notes on spreading the worship of Urgathoa to other goblinoids, as well as Serving Your Hunger, the unholy text of the goddess.

The fallen cult leader has a number of scrolls, including bane, cure moderate wounds, dispel magic, lesser restoration, and a wand of inflict light wounds. She carries a magic shield and cloak, as well as a masterwork morningstar.

The obscuring mist disappears after a few more minutes of searching the room. You find no other hidden exits.

As soon as we take care of this altar and secure the books, Iago. I may have respect for this worshiper, but I have no respect of the vile gods and godesses they worship and granted them the power to disturb the well deserved rest of warriors. Barret then sets to work trying to find a way to cleanse and disrupt the power of this altar, uncomfortable with leaving it for other adventurers to find and put to use.

Barret knows that a consecrate spell and some holy rituals can counter the dark magics clinging to the altar. Alternatively, blunt force will do in a pinch. :)

After a few moments of search and contemplation, the priest does something very stereotypically Gorumite: begins smashing it with his weapon until it's in little bits. If no one else has gathered the books before then, he gathers them in his back and says, Ready. Let's go meet our charge so we can report back.

After sorting any further healing Tajan looks carefully at the books. "I will ask Irori for insight" Casts comprehend languages and skims through the books. "An unholy text and some thoughts on converting goblinoids. No doubt someone at the society will find them interesting" the last word suggests he would rather burn them but he defers to the rest of the party

The party finds nothing else of interest in the shrine workshop, and can easily investigate the haunted prison. The cages are still empty, and bones still litter the pit.

GM Dice:
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22

Thankfully, the haunt appears to be spent for the time being, allowing the party ample time to investigate.

Barret:
The focus of the restless spirits seems to be the pit. You believe that at least one prisoner died of exposure in the hole, and requires prayers and a symbolic apology for their horrific demise, along with proper interment of the remains.

DC20 Perception:
Hidden in a corner of one of the cages is a scroll tube and a bronze badge of an asp. The tube contains what appears to be Pathfinder documents relating to Andoran operations.

Turns out I misread the haunt DCs, so Iago had to make a save. Thankfully, the Fort is strong in him. :)

Someone lower me into the pit so I can put to rest the spirit that haunts this place, Barret grumbles as he looks for a safe way down into the pit, undenyably not finding any unless he is tied and lowered in. If he is finally lowered in, he is sure to perform the required tasks before retrieving any remains to be later interred properly at a temple of Pharasma. The bodies of the dead aren't exaclty Gorum's strong suit, after all.

Once his climbs down into the pit, Barret begins his service.

Looking down at the base of the pit at the remains, he begins, I know not your circumstance, but you deserved something much better than this. It was dishonorable for your captors to not give you a death worthy of a warrior. Be at peace, and leave to the reward of your gods in the great beyond knowing that your bodies shall be put to rest in a proper fashion. He then turns his head upward, towards the ceiling of the cavern, towards the skies above, and shouts, Gorum! I beg you send your warriors to guard these souls on their way beyond while I guard their bodies on their way to their proper rest!

He then begins gathering up what he can of their remains, taking multiple trips if he has to in order to get all of the pieces he can. When he is done he uncorks a vial of holy water and sprinkles it into the pit, speaking prayers of cleansing and hope that the battles here will erase the scars of past dishonor.

When finally finished with all of that, he turns to his party and speaks, Would you help me carry these bodies, of not to a temple then at least into a place where they can be properly laid to rest? I don't feel I can carry them both respectfully by myself.

Table Maps | On Hiatus |

Barret sees no signs of the haunt returning, but also sees no obvious indication it has been laid to rest.

DC20 Perception:
As Barret caps the flask of holy water, a drop lands on the exposed bone of one of the skulls pulled from the pit, and sizzles as it rapidly evaporates.

Let me know if there is anything else the party does before leaving the tunnels. You may also roll dayjobs over in the discussion thread, if you haven't already, so I can work on chronicles. Edit: Although, it seems like only Stephen has yet to answer yea or nay on dayjob checks.

The only key you remember seeing was carried by Darak the Eternal, and it fits the lock perfectly, removing the need for Barret's orcish lockpick. Inside are three finely crafted daggers, sheathed in dark leather, atop a hefty coin pouch. The holy warriors lead the way out of the now silent tomb, emerging back into the dark of night. Nothing accosts the party as they retrace their steps to the graveyard, back along the trail, and finally to the hidden campsite.

Kazrin steps out of the brush as Tajan hails the camp, squinting against the light of the party's torches. "Welcome back." he greets you quietly. "I worried you might not return. The Sczarni looks quizzically to Iago as the party enters the site. A small fire is banked, very dimly lighting the area and providing little in the way of warmth. Jandri appears to already be asleep, and Alik sits by the coals, for once acknowledging the Pathfinders with a nod.

"So. First we ran into some smart wolves who weren't keen on whatever we were heading towards and we managed to not kill them. They were a bit hungry so that's something to be watchful for in the future, if they stick around in the area. They talked, too!

And then we went into a small cavern like place there was some undead, then some hobgoblins, then some more undead, a mist, a prison, and some cleric who was very evil and into that whole Urgathoa worship mess. It was a close kinda thing but then we managed to defeat her and then put some spirits to rest by the old prison-place.

The morning arrives, and camp is struck. The caravan makes excellent time to the next bivouac, and encounters no further trouble. This pattern repeats over the rest of the journey, with only stray wildlife causing any difficulties for the party. On arrival, Jandri bids farewell with a single "Good work." to you all, while Kazrin is much more effusive. In the coming weeks, Guaril Karela reports that Sczarni caravans appear safe once more, and that business is booming.
