I liked this one, but we lost half the players to real life at a time when I was heroically busy. It counts as an honourable failure on the roster - and the only game I've ever deliberately put on hiatus.
"Hey - Hortense, Flamen - get out here. We have company."
As the two Kel spotted through the window emerge from the left hand door, the swordsman briefly fills them in. Eyebrows quirk and the offer is given serious consideration.
"The difficulty is, Agera's brother, whether what you want and what we want overlap. Might cause a little conflict. How about you tell us what you're looking for?"
"The difficulty is, Agera's brother, whether what you want and what we want overlap. Might cause a little conflict. How about you tell us what you're looking for?"
"I wouldn't turn down some of her lore, but I'll be honest here. I need money more than I need knowledge. And you? It's so impolite to ask a question you wouldn't answer yourself."
"Oh, this and that. Your sister is quite a collector and she does like her jewellery, or so Hortense says. How are you doing?," he asks the woman.
She shrugs.
"Not well. There's no system at all." Hortense sounds hugely annoyed by that.
"Is this simple sibling rivalry? You seem uncommonly vindictive, even by our fine standards." The lean man from the library twirls a wand not unlike Zareth's own.

"Anything in particular you're looking for? I might have better luck finding it."

"Is this simple sibling rivalry? You seem uncommonly vindictive, even by our fine standards." The lean man from the library twirls a wand not unlike Zareth's own.
"Let's just say that if you steal from family, that family is entirely justified in stealing from you and leave it at that. It's a bit of a sore subject."
Andrus signals to Kith to hold up. "Let them play this out. Zareth's gotten himself out of worst situations, believe me." He says quietly. "If there's trouble, he'll cause a stir and we'll run in."
"Well, might as well take a look. Gold's not going anywhere, after all." Zareth enters the library and begins looking through the papers, the faint form of an imp visible on his shoulder.
I can speak Common, Elven and Supernal if they're in a different language, and Arcana to interpret anything I find:1d20 + 14 ⇒ (11) + 14 = 25
Hortense wasn't lying when she said the papers were in disorder. At the first glance, Zareth knows he's got a long job ahead of him. A worthwhile one though. The first document to catch his eye has notes about the wrathstone.
"Know anything about that?" asks Flamen. "Seems like a dangerous thing to me."
"Nice try - really. But you know, not quite good enough. Something doesn't ring true."
Suracio sounds slightly regretful as he gestures to Flamen. The lean man flicks his wand and sets Zareth on fire before moving closer to Kel. Hortense yelps protestingly as the flames lick at her garments.
Fire dart (Ref). Zone 1 centred on enemy and lasts 3 turns. Creatures entering or starting their turn in the zone take 5 fire damage.
1d20+10=29. Flamen v Zareth. Hits. 5 fire damage.
5 fire damage to Zareth.
At the first sounds of battle, andrus will grab kitherra and run into the house. I expect we'll miss the first round. Did they REALLY just use fire on a TIEFLING? What a maroon. :) Stay alive until we get there.
"Hey guys, you can't blame me for setting a house on fire, this time."
Kel shifts to M6 draws his blade and uses fading Strike to attack Suracio, shifting to O6. Afterwards Kel swaps out his blade for his bow.
Attack vs ac, 1d20 + 9 + 1 ⇒ (14) + 9 + 1 = 24, damage = 1d8 + 3 + 1d8 ⇒ (2) + 3 + (5) = 10

Thorn Strike against H 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (16) + 12 = 28 vs ac, 1d10 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13 and pull her to I6, I gain +1 to all defense until the start of my next turn
Mark both H and F
Tenja steps out of the fiery mess and large thorns sprout out of his hammer to draw Hortense closer to him.
"There's no point setting fire to a tiefling, you idiot," snaps Hortense and she shifts clear of the flames and dropping a zone of shadow around Tenja and Zareth. Her fingers snap and the shadows coalesce around the pair, seeking to attach themselves. Tenja shrugs the attack aside, but Zareth recognises expert magic when he sees it and can't prevent himself from looking too long.
Double Shift.
Minor - Skittering Shadows. Zone 1 within 10. Creatures enteringor starting their turns takes and attack v Will. On hit, a shadow attachs to them and moves with them. A creature may have only one shadow attached to it.
1d20+10=29 - v Zareth. Hits. 1d10+5=6 shadow damage
1d20+10=13 - v Tenja. Miss.
6 shadow damage to Zareth and he has a shadow attached to him.
"No need to argue. It'll be over soon enough." Zareth gestures, and Tenja is surrounded by a bright cloud of scintillating colors, drawing them in.
Move to I3 and use Hypnotic Pattern, focused on Tenja(vs Will, on start of their turn attack if within 3 squares of pattern, on hit pull 3 squares and slow target), vs H(pull to I7), F and S(pull to K6):1d20 + 7 ⇒ (6) + 7 = 13
Only Flamen suffers from Zareth's attack and Suracio draws a dagger to go with his longsword and leaps towards the wizard, braving the flames to reach him.
"Maybe. Maybe not. You're a nice enough group, we may still be able to do business along the lines you suggested, but you're a touch suspicious."
Blades flick out and cut readily through the tiefling's defences.
Blademaster Strike. Suracio makes a longsword and a dagger attack.
1d20+12=25 - longsword v Zareth. Hits. 1d8+8=13
1d20+12=27 - dagger v Zareth. Hits. 1d4+8=11
24 damage to Zareth
Flamen shifts away and turns his attention to Tenja, while waving happily at Kel.
"Hey! Another pyromaniac! Good to meet you."
Flame springs up around the dwarf and although it doesn't harm him immediately, Flamen waves his wand again and the heat increases.
Fire dart (Ref). Zone 1 centred on enemy and lasts 3 turns. Creatures entering or starting their turn in the zone take 5 fire damage.

As the blades slice through Zareth he disappears in a puff of smoke, only to reappear next to Kel. "I'm sorry, but I don't do business with people who try to kill me. Nothing personal."
Immediate Reaction after that first strike but before the second, activate my Cloak of The Montebank to teleport to O6 and S grants me CA until EOMNT)
Sorry - missed that. Suracio doesn't need to go into the flames then. You can't get to O6 as it's full of Kel. Put you at N6 and you only take 13 damage.

Tenja tries to mash the hapless spellslinger into the dust on the floor.
Flamen flinches and looks offended as Tenja hurtles towards him and thumps him with his warhammer.
"Bit of an over-reaction?"
Hortense opens the door behind her and extends her arm towards the dwarf. Something dark spirals from her palm and wraps around him, pulling him back into the flames.
"Not so fast."
Writhing Torment (Will). On hit target slides 3 squares.
1d20+10=21. Hits. 1d6+4=7 psychic damage

"Greetings. We are engaged in a minor dispute, but I'm sure we can find a way to cooperate eventually."

EDIT: Just seen Davi's post on gamer connection and he's pulling out of all his games for now.
This leaves us with an active roster of three players as Kith hasn't been around for over a month. My gut feeling is that we should go on hiatus until either Davi or Amy get back, but I'd value your thoughts.

I'm ok to pause the game until Davi or Amy gets back. If it looks like there not going to return we should also pause until you can find some new players.
I'm also having the same problem with the Eberron game your in.
I'd rather pause than fold, but three is too few to run with I think. The 4e pool isn't huge, and both Amy and Davi were in other games I've been running. If you don't mind, I'll put this one on pause for now and work on finding good replacements as soon as I can.
