Ed? 1 is a runner: 1d2 ⇒ 2

The two bandits near death are appalled at the loss of their leader in the fight, and instead only grow more angry. They tighten their grip on the longswords, and take another swing with determination to bring down the one who did it, attacking Zakary. They also scream out, requesting more help, which has an opposite effect. Nearly every other bandit flees, save for Francine who joins in the fight.

Cami sinks her teeth deep into the leg of Francine as she cries out in pain. Because of her focus on Zakary and charge, she left herself open and the wolf drags her to the ground getting her legs where she normally could have held her ground.

Exhausted, he then heads back home to go to bed. When he gets there though, he remembers that he left Zarth there, who is still petting his cat, but immediately says that he is hungry. Zak takes him over to the the tavern for some food, and then over to the town hall where they have made up pallets for the prisoners while they heal. While he's snagging an extra pallet for Zarth, Zarth wanders over and examines the patients/prisoners. That's my brother he says, pointing to Boscar. He then proceeds to talk about all of the other prisoners, so that they know all of their names and positions in the Bandit hierarchy. Zakary starts to ask him about the people that fled, but then decides to wait. He's too tired to think after battle, and healing, and he's just overwhelmed. He leaves Zarth in the good hands of the healers and guards, telling them privately to treat him like a friend, and under no circumstances to try and take the cat statuette, and to pass the word to anyone else that needs to interact with him. He stresses that it is of vital importance.
Then he returns home, and this time he really can fall asleep.

There's no reason any of them should have bled out, most of our damage just barely gets them below zero because we're mostly low numbers here. They're all stable and in custody.
Also, sorry about the wait. Had a thing going on yesterday, and i can barely post at all morning to late on Mondays and Wednesdays.

Bolton leans against a nearby tree and relaxes as the decoy team begins to join them and help remove everything from the bandits, and carry them to a place to lock them up until the town can decide more formally what to do with them. Cami, walks over to his side and falls to the ground, panting heavily as well. "You're right about that. I can't imagine this "D.D." fellow will take all of this lying down. Still, they have had the chance to see us in real combat, and we have a good number of new and proper gear to equip them. I would say, if this battle were to happen again we wouldn't have to face such an uphill battle." He waves Zakary off and stays to oversee things until all of the bandits are made prisoners proper, at which he find Neuman to discuss plans of training the town to fight more properly. They were rushed this time around, but he's sure this time the bandits will take more time before marching their band to Rence.

Bolton will also Cure Light himself, to recover more fully. Cure Light: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

After returning to his own home, Bolton unequipped properly this time, eager for some rest undisturbed the light armor he wore the previous night, as well as a longer more complete rest at that.

Action: 1d100 ⇒ 21 Release
Subject: 1d100 ⇒ 33 Lies
So, a goal our characters are after is going to abruptly be closed, due to a release of lies. Our only true threads at the moment that i see are securing the safety of Rence, the defeat of the bandit camps, and gathering more information about D.D. To this end, 1d3 ⇒ 2 it seems to me that we receive "word" that the bandit situation is dealt with. I see this one of two ways, either the camps really are dealt with due to a lie that were perpetuated (such as maybe about Huinia's disinterest in their existence) but that's not really a release of lies to cause this. The other way, and more... unfortunate, is that we receive word that "Huinia" dealt with the situation finally and that we no longer have to defeat the bandit camps. It closes the thread for us as a goal, but at the same time Rence remains in danger... unbeknownst to us. Given Bolton's plans on traveling, he'd probably ask to join knowing Zakary's departure to be imminent and finding traveling with a person you've fought beside better than alone. I'm up for your opinions on this.
Also, on whether we should be level 2 or not. I was planning to use EXP initially, but I am fine with just growing in level when it seems right. Heck, if we treat ourselves as Fast Track we would be at 1300/1300 exp so that'd do it too.

The morning arrives without incident, and it seems the town is slow to wake. After the battle, it seems today everyone wants to take things easy. Bolton lazily gets ready for the day, as eager as everyone else, before making his way to Saul's home to see if they received any sort of information during the night.

Zakary gets up around noon and has some scrambled eggs and then goes back to sleep.

I typed up a super long response, and realized the whole thing was ooc, so I put it in the discussion thread instead.

Male Human Hunter (Divine) HP 12/17 () | AC 16(17) T 13 FF 13(14) | Fort +4 Ref +6 Will +3 | Initiative +3 | Perception +6

After a couple days... What came next was like a storm to the small town. Everyone was on guard initially when the saw the troop of heavily armored men march into town, led by two others at their front. Immediately the crests and regalia of the Huinian military was apparent to enough people to recognize them as belonging to their own nation and their guards relaxed somewhat, though still tense due to the peculiar situation.

D.D. is a male? Near sure thing: 1d100 ⇒ 100 Exceptional No Just thought I'd see out of curiosity... i don't really think there's a reason for exceptional here, but i guess the game really wants D.D. to be a female.

(Most likely a DC 18 local check to recognize the female figure as Darcell Dayton, one of three generals of the Huinian military and direct advisors to the king.)

The man at the front speaks up after it's clear the town has gathered a group of interested bystanders, as well as the leaders of the small village. Bolton included. "By decree of the great king himself, we have come to deal with the situation plaguing the lands of Huinia's south. The bandits have been dealt with, their ranks have been decimated, and they no longer pose a threat to the region. We have heard tales of the bravery stood here at Rence, and applaud your efforts. You are to turn over all bandits to our authority, where they shall be returned to the capital to be tried, and summarily punished for their crimes against the great land of Huinia."

After a small back and forth between this man and Saul, he left with a few soldiers to go and collect the prisoners. Meanwhile, Bolton waited and watches the group that remained stoic and on guard for anything. The female at the front though... he didn't recognize her at all. That said, she looked like she held some sort of authority. Despite the way the other man was speaking as though leading the party, the air she held about her seemed to declare herself as a superior to even him. Still, Bolton held himself to waiting and watching for now. Somehow, it didn't feel real after the high stress of the town in recent days, that it was just... over. Just like that.

Soon, the seven prisoners, and Zarth, were lined out in front of the troop of soldiers, where they were told how they would act in travel back to Huinia. Zarth in particular has an interesting face about him as he listened though. He looked pale as he stared at the female in front.
(DC 15 sense motive to notice that he seems to recognize her, 20 to realize that he is feeling betrayed)

Bolton Sense Motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (13) + 2 = 15

Bolton bites his lip lightly as he continues to watch the proceedings quietly, taking an interest in Zarth's reaction.

Maybe an "exceptional" woman... incredibly attractive, or something along those lines?

knowledge local: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17

Zakary comes out to see what the uproar is all about, and once he realizes what is happening, he goes to say goodbye to Zarth, half because the children are watching and he wants to make sure they know that people can change, and help because he's honestly developed an affection for the guy, even though he knows he is charmed.

You take care of yourself, okay? he says, and thank you again for saving us.

sense motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17

Thinking that Zarth's uneasiness must be because his brother is a prisoner, he says additionally It will be okay. You did the right thing, and you can still be brothers and choose different things. He'll understand that, in time.

He then retreats back to the crowd, ending up between Bolton and Lilian, as the proceedings continue.

Male Human Hunter (Divine) HP 12/17 () | AC 16(17) T 13 FF 13(14) | Fort +4 Ref +6 Will +3 | Initiative +3 | Perception +6

As soon as the troop of soldiers came, so too did they leave taking with them all of the bandits as their prisoners. The town, quiet again, saw the crowd disperse as people became bored of watching the uniformed men and women leave. Speaking to Zakary, he asks, "Did that one look odd to you? Zarth, i mean?" He wouldn't think on it too much if it was just him, but if someone else shared his curiosity he might dwell a bit more. "I mean to say, all of the prisoners had some semblance of fear for their future, but he was particularly scared of the female out front. The one with the fancy armor trim."

Bloody internet. Had this little short bit written up 6 hours ago but my connection was down.

Inactive

Oh, is that why he was uneasy? I noticed that too, but I thought it was because his brother is likely angry with him. It's a hard situation, that. ... I didn't recognize that woman, but I'm not from around here. Did you? Is he right to be worried?

Male Human Hunter (Divine) HP 12/17 () | AC 16(17) T 13 FF 13(14) | Fort +4 Ref +6 Will +3 | Initiative +3 | Perception +6

Bolt tapped his chin a bit curiously. "Hard to say. Don't know that woman myself, but i do recognize that she ranks something high in the military. Pretty sure the man talking was the leader of em, that she was there and seemed to be higher than him, she had to be a someone to somebody." He thinks a bit more before continuing, "I think I'm going to take Cami that way, to the East, and see em off to at least a mile past the river. If nothing happens that's fine too, I'll just get to hunting and call it good. Just thought I'd make sure to pass it by you, since you seemed to take Zarth's care under your responsibility for the past couple of days." Though he says "see them off" his intentions are to trail them for a bit, just out of an odd feeling he has.

He let out a sharp whistle, and Cami hopped up from the other side of the square they were standing at, walking over to him. "You're free to join me if you'd like. If not that's fine too, I'll let you know if anything comes up." ... "Then again, i suppose you won't be staying here in town for too much longer either? Don't really blame you after the way Saul treated you. Still, the town thanks you, even if he thinks you were just paying for what you 'invited' to happen. He can be a bit nonsensical sometimes."

Inactive

I'll come with you to make sure Zarth is okay. He's charmed. He can't help being loyal to us, even if it isn't in his own best interests. I worry about how that will play out if someone like his brother tries to challenge that... or take his statue. Oh, wow, I should have warned them.

Zakary grabs his bow, and they head out.

As they walk out of town he adds Yeah, I'll be moving on to another dig. A friend contacted me and the elves seem to have discovered something extensive, and want a professional to examine it. Unusual for them to pull in a non-Elf to consult on something like this, and I feel it is important to do, for race relations if nothing else, but I have to admit it is also somewhat of an ego boost. It will also be nice to get back to the work I love. I'll miss having you and Cami to watch my back though... and of course everyone else, especially the children.

After about ten minutes of walking out of the village and past the river, Bolton sighs, "Must have have been nothing. Don't really know what i was expecting, to be honest." Though, as it seems he was about ready to turn around, the ground ahead become odd, a crimson puddle staining the ground. Moving closer, Bolton leaned down to take a closer look, the blood had no body to accompany it, though. "I wonder if one of them struggled? Huinia aren't really known for lenience for that kind of thing."

Looking around a bit more, to investigate the scene and hoping to see if there was anything else of note.

(DC 15 Perception to notice the blood itself has been used to carve a secret message in the ground in a way that is meant to be hard to tell, made by Zarth just in case someone happened to come after him. In the bloody writing are two paired "d" letters, and the word "her")

"Hard to say for sure. To me, it certainly looks like he didn't travel off alone. There's a good amount of blood here, and no trail, which is odd." He looks down the road further, "I think he did something that caused them to make an example of him. Can't say for sure if he's dead, Huinia as a nation isn't one to execute before a trial, so i doubt he's dead, but i wouldn't be surprised if that "her" he's referring to did something to warrant this pool of blood."

"Honestly, with that troop, it's out of our hands at this point. Still, he left us with something interesting." He sighs hoping for the best for Zarth, despite the man's taking part in a group harassing the town for so many years.

Zak sighs, worried that Zarth is dead, and in another more detached part of his mind wondering what the cat statuette would do to someone that murdered its owner.

Okay. Too bad about Zarth. He turned out to be a pretty good guy.

Bolton shakes his head in declination, offering his arm out for a firm hand shake, "No, I'd say you've done more than enough to help this town. Know that everyone here is thankful everything you've done. Saul included, even if he won't admit it."

Looking over from Zakary and to the east again, in the direction of the next town over, he shrugs. "I suppose It's about time I left too. I've spent my entire life here in Rence, and I've always wanted to venture out into the world and see more. With the town's plague of 15 years, past... it seems a good chance to." His own mindset though, was more to travel the lands of humanity, as opposed to Zakary's own task which seemed to lend him westward. "Going to get started on the hunt with Cami for now though. Thanks again.

Shaking Bolton's hand firmly, Zakary bids him farewell.

God speed on your travels, then.
Zakary smiles and adds And to you as well, Cami.

He stops off in town to get the rest of his stuff, and to say goodbye to Keaton, Jake, and Lilian, as well as seeing the kids one last time, and then he walks off west, towards his home, and, hopefully, a new adventure.

Bolton returns home late and without any catch. To be honest, his mind wasn't in it, but rather deep in thought about whether or not to leave town, or further where to go if he did. He'd spent his entire life in Rence and always thought about leaving to see the world for something beyond a place his home resides... now he was actually considering it.

...

The following few weeks went about as normal, though Bolton did go over his plans to move on with Saul and Neuman. Saul's reaction was a bit more pleading, as Bolton had an influence with a part of the town that Saul and Neuman didn't have. One of the reasons he valued his opinions so much was because he knew the sway Bolton had. Still, Bolton had made up his mind, and while in no hurry to vacate Rence, he made his preparations over this time.

Firstly, he found a person who would take his lodge off his hands. After everything was said and done, he had 500 gold left, which he invested into getting some better gear for himself and Cami to prepare him for the road. Then he deliberated on where to go, but to be honest he really wanted to head for the capital. He had never been there more than a couple times and even then it was for a short visit and on behalf of Rence... never truly to explore. Now, he had questions, specifically who D.D. was that she was buying land around Rence and supposedly... had sway enough to maneuver both bandits and Huinia's military? If she would be somehow responsible for the loss of economy for so many years to Rence, he wanted to see a chance at justice. If nothing came of it, that would be another thing and fine as well, this was simply a goal to give him direction as he left Rence and made his way to the Northeast.

Male Human Hunter (Divine) HP 12/17 () | AC 16(17) T 13 FF 13(14) | Fort +4 Ref +6 Will +3 | Initiative +3 | Perception +6

Bolton made his way to the ast, stopping by at the nearby town for only a day to speak with the leader there about the bandit situation. He was told something similar, how the military came by and informed them on the bandit situation being taken care of. It seems they never had the same large-scale conflict as Rence did, though they enough supported the idea that it may have happened soon. He left before too long, heading northeast, avoiding detours to other towns and cities in favor of Valora, the capital of Huinia.

Along the way, he passed many different groups of humans and halflings, making way along the well-traveled for trade. Rarely, an elf or dwarf traveling, usually as a diplomatic envoy. In addition, the more days he traveled, the more guards and outposts it seemed the roads held.
In the distance, still a day's travel away, he could see the great city. Sitting at the center of plains and farmland for miles in each direction, allowing a clear view of large forces that were to assault the well-walled city. While too far away to see now, he remembers the well-designed, busy streets of the city and how clean the city seemed to keep itself. Even the slums, if they could be called that, were in a state of condition that seemed to reflect the city's prosperity and ability to care for those with out the ability to do so for themselves.

Bandits, monsters, and general strife never truly reached the center of Huinia. Bounties and quests were given out at the first sign of trouble. The further you got to the borders, the more trouble it was worth, the greater the difficulty such tasks were to deal with, and coincidentally the rewards. Most likely, this was due to problems brewing for longer before word got to the capital and the solution of such problems requiring more inventive solutions as well. Not that he ever took such quests before.

It took him until mid to late afternoon before Bolton actually managed to make it to the front gates of Valora, despite having seen it in the early morning and traveling along a mostly straight, clear, and well-trodden path. After a short visit with the customs guard about the purpose of his visit, duration he intended to stay, and what sorts of possessions he would be bringing into the city, Bolton made his way through the gates. His purpose he put officially as his first stop in his new life as an adventurer with a goal of seeing the world. Apparently the man at the gate had been too before it was cut short in a fight that left him with a limp that was too hard on long-term travel. Unofficially he was here to learn more about the military structure of the kingdom... specifically about the higherups... more specifically, information about this D.D. individual. He wasn't outright seeking revenge or retribution, but just wanted to know why the town was forced to undergo hardships under her whims for over a decade. His stay duration, indefinite due to the nature of it (finding work in the town can be quick with quests that match your ability, or take more time for the same reasons). While he was certainly armed, he had nothing illicit with him... though he did have to sign a few contracts the guard had pre-prepared related to bringing in an unusual animal. Basically, responsibility agreements.

Given it was the later part of the day and getting through customs started dropping the daylight levels to cantrip requiring levels, Bolton decided to make his way to the inn he remembered staying at during his last visit. Admittedly, his stay was a bit cheaper as he was subsidized for the diplomatic reasons of his stay, but hopefully the owner of the Bronze Spear would remember him and she might help him out.

En route, the streets seemed eerily absent. Even for the time of day, the city was always abustle with at least a few people, but every direction seemed absent. Even Cami seemed to be on her guard for some reason. Reaching for the bow at his back, he continued his trek until he heard a scream nearby. 1Male: 1d2 ⇒ 2 Quickening his pace, Bolton made it around through a couple of alleyways before seeing the body of a woman, a large chunk of her side missing as though something took a bite of her. As he ran over to the woman, a commoner by any stretch of the imagination, he also saw several claw marks. He placed his hand over her but felt his stabilization magic fail. She was already dead.

Somewhat forgetting his place, he looked her over and realized she had gotten some of the (beast's?) fur, an ashen grey similar to that of Cami's. He nodded for Cami to get a scent, to see if they could track down the killer while the trail was still warm. Looking around, the environment not what he's used to, he does his best to get a feel for where the creature might have gone.
Survival to Track (Cami's Aid): 1d20 + 7 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 7 + 1 + 2 = 18
While somewhat unfamiliar with the urban terrain, he has a general idea but just as he's about head off he hears a whistle and some calling as a group of four guards make their way to the ally. Two appear to be outright soldiers, another a higher-up among the guard, and the fourth some sort of divine belief held guard. All of them arms drawn "Great you're here. I think that--"

Soon however, Bolton heard a casting by the caster, [dice=Will vs. a "unique" silence/illusion spell to "mute" the target]1d20 +3[/dice] Spellcraft to notice the magic's purpose: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21 along with a frustrated tone from the leader that interrupted Bolt as Bolt was about to speak again, "Please sir, do not resist."

Bolt, evidently decided time was more important, "No you don't understand, i think that i know where whatever did this went."

Soon though, there was another casting of the same magic Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11 which apparently still failed to work on Bolton. the leader seems to give up on the silencing aspect, "Look, trust me, this ends better for you if you don't try to start making excuses. We were trying to silence you for your own best interest but..." With a sigh he continued, "Anything you say here can and will be used against you in Abadar's court where you will be tried for the murder of this woman, as the one responsible for a wolf within the gates... SPEAKING OF WHICH, will you please tell your beast to stand down?" The man asked with an apparent calm, despite their weapons all ready to go against a certain wolf...
Bolt felt his body tense up, as he slowly and painfully looked over to see Cami. Her mouth wasn't very bloody, but there was plenty all over her front paws. Not helping the situation, she was taking an affront to the guards' hostility towards Bolton and her. Dropping the bow he realized he was still holding, he gestured with his arm and Cami whimpered a bit laying down. The leader, seeing his cooperation, lowered his arms a bit to release the tensions between them. "Now, here's what's going to happen. You're going to tell your beast to get into a cage that's currently being wheeled here, you're going to forfeit all of your possessions, at least until after your trial which will take place tomorrow. Regardless of your own personal responsibility, the likelihood is very high that your wolf will be put down for what it did."

And that is what happened. Bolton only hoped he would be able to tell his side of the story best he could... And that Cami wouldn't do anything to cause any problems.

Is Kurth the only Dwarf Inquisitor of Abadar in the city? Somewhat Likely: 1d100 ⇒ 58; No.

Kurth was finishing paperwork when there was a knock on the office door. The dwarf stifled a sigh. It was late, and he was just about to head home. He honestly should have left over an hour ago. Nothing he was doing was important enough that it couldn’t wait until morning. But as the newest Inquisitor--and one of the few dwarves--he had a need to prove himself. And so here he was working twice as hard as everyone else.

He opened the door to find The Chief Inquisitor--a woman he had spoken to exactly once back at his graduating ceremony a year ago, and then only briefly. Linda Goldseer--the legendary Golden Wolf herself.

Kurth immediately straightened up and saluted. She saluted back, and studied him for a moment.

"I see you're the only one here at the moment. Well, I suppose you'll do then. The case isn't much. Get your gear, read this and report downstairs."

"Yes, Chief Inquisitor," he said and took the scroll. She left without so much as another word.

Half an hour later, Kurth was studying a man sitting in an interrogation room from behind a special glass that allowed only one-way viewing. Kurth didn't sense an aura of any kind from the man--but that wasn't particularly unusual. Most people didn't have one.

This was his first time taking lead on any case--let alone one involving a death. This simply shouldn't have come his way at this stage of his career. But then again, it seemed pretty straight-forward, nearly impossible to muck up.

Although, a trial being set for the next day seemed a little quick for his tastes. But no matter, this was his duty. And he would do it well.

He walked into the room.

"Mister Reid? I am Inquisitor Silvermug and I am investigating your case. Before we begin, I must inform you that anything you say can be used against you as evidence in your trial. If you would like a lawyer, we have affordable ones here that can be brought to you. The crime you are accused of occurred in an area policed by the Church of Abadar, therefore you fall under our jurisdiction and not the city's."

"Now unless you would like to speak with a lawyer present, could you please tell me your version of the events?"

Bolton's trip to the "church" of Abadar was a mostly eventful one. The only real hiccup was getting Cami to go inside of the cage. Honestly, he was scared for a moment she really would be guilty of biting someone before they finally got her in there. Once actually at the church, he was separated from his canine companion of a few years. He was to wait a little while, before another member of the Abadaran church would take his case and go over the events of the night with him.

Bolton was surprised to see that the man that came in to meet him was a dwarf. Having lived near the border to the dwarven lands, he'd met a great many dwarves in his day... more than most residents of the non-major cities in Huinia. Still, he knew enough about them to know of the stereotypes that were true and those that tended to be less so. Enough to be somewhat thankful for the man before him. Because of this, he declined the offer of a man who knew the law better that might see him through this. "No, that will be fine. I'll speak on my own behalf through this, Mr. Silvermug."

Taking a few seconds of silence to regroup his thoughts, Bolton eventually began to give his take of the events. "I came up to the capital from Rence, southwest near the border to the elven and dwarven lands, and arrived just this evening actually. Just came through the gates and was headed to find a lodge to stay for the evening, when i heard a scream. Very few people around, i was the first to arrive to find the woman. My only contact with her was turning her from her front to her back to get a view of her, and an attempt to apply stabilizing cantrip-level magic... though it seems that by the time I arrived Pharasma's embrace had already claimed her. Still, a hunter and clergyman by trade, the trail was still fresh so i figured it would be possible to track down the culprit. I would have notified a guard if there was one but the streets seemed oddly barren, and i thought i might catch up with the culprit. With Cami..." He thought for a moment, hoping she was doing fine away from him. "My wolf, her name is Cami. Anyway, I got her to try to pick up any scents she might be able to, and I'm pretty sure we saw a trail, looked like a canine with an unusual gait. The rest is as I'm sure the guards reported. A little confrontation and i got her to stand down and dropped my bow."

Her trip to the capital was not worth much this time. The only few times she had been previously, she had always been running a mission or reporting something back to various contact points. D.D had always insisted on the fact when you returned, there would always be someone new, and to met in a new inn. This time the contact was suppose to be at a somewhat fancier inn, the Bronze Spear, a place that catered to a more middle class type of person. Was the woman attacked the contact point for D.D? Somewhat Likely:: 1d100 ⇒ 33 Yes. awesome, itll give me reason for the trial appearance

However as she was going through customs, she saw guards running in the direction of travel was suppose to go. Knowing the city and some of its worse elements, and that no guard can completely prevent crime, she thought nothing of it. Until she started getting closer and realized that even at this time of day, the amount of people in the streets was very low, and the ones she did see, where armed in a simpler fashion to her, and she would have bet they all were not people she would drink and gamble with. Once she got to the inn however, she noticed the large guard presence, and started to ask around. From her sources a man and a wolf had brutally attacked and mauled this poor woman in the alley, and then killed seven guards before being lead away in chains. She waited around to see if her contact would show up, but after a few hours she started to feel that her contact and the murdered woman was the same person. If so, she needed to at least view the body.

In the interest of securing what maybe a note on the poor dead woman, she told one of the guards she saw everything, and could positively ID the man and the wolf who did this crime, if she could view them and the body, for the body was a friend of hers she was suppose to met. After a few moments and a few tears, she accepted his polite offer to buy her a round later, but she first wanted this criminal brought to justice. However, as the guard escorted her towards the church of Abadar, the more she started to realize that she was maybe going to the wrong place to search for clues on a dead body. She was placed in the church, with instructions that someone will be along shortly to help gather her statement and thne she could id the body.

I'll wait until called on to id the man, since Silvermug may wish to come out to speak with me first.

Kurth took notes of everything that Reid reported. He asked him a few more questions, and so far everything matched up with what he read from the initial report.

A guard stepped inside the interrogation room and Kurth glowered at him. Interrogations should not be interrupted. The guard unapologetically delivered a written note.

Kurth opened it and nodded--apparently there was a witness.

Halia blinked a few times, obviously surprised that a dwarf would be leading a case, knowing the city was not the friendliest to non-humans. She could attest that with some of the stares she had gotten walking in, and some of the others either looked down on her for being an elf, or had more lecherous intent.
I did. I was coming to met with a friend of mine at a preset time. After a few passages of time I got curious you know? I wanted to make sure I had the inn name right, just in case I was wrong you know? So I come out, and just somewhat looking around in case she was outside waiting on me. So I was just there and saw a man dash in, with this huge snarling wolf with him. I was thinking that was odd, but you never know in the big city, I'm just a simple girl from the woods really, but so I wasn't really struck as it being odd til there was screaming and he then came rushing out all covered in blood. The wolf was like dripping blood.

I don't think that Bolton was actually covered in that much blood, given his description of the events. He might have gotten some on his hands. Well, let's let fate decide.

[dice=Was Bolton "dripping blood"? Unlikely]1d100[/dice] Nope.

Wow. We tied. I'm going to interpret this as he's suspicious, but unsure she's lying on purpose.

Kurth noted the inconsistency of the "dripping blood" right away. but he wasn't sure if she had some agenda or if she was simply being a little sensationalist. Eye witnesses were notoriously unreliable even at the best of times. And the idea of a note or a possession also twigged him as suspicious.

"Any possessions found on her person will be logged as evidence, Madam."

A message in blood seems unlikely, but maybe she had a something else. Maybe a physical object?

No one knew about the Wand of Scorching Ray the woman was carrying in her boot. That wasn't discovered until after Reid was placed in custody. As a matter of fact, so far the victim hadn't even been identified yet.

Was trying her best to keep up the act, but when asked about her name, and what she did, she just went with what seemed most likely, even if it made no sense. She had no idea who the woman was to be truthful, outside of her contact point. Hopefully the dwarf will give her a clue

"Well like, we all called her Elisa, but I suppose she could've had a different name here in town. We are from a lil backwater place called Rence, youve probably never heard of it. It's like really tiny. My parents had a place that bordered near by in our homeland, so like, they were the closest place of non elves you know? I couldn't really say what she did though, since she always just said something about baking, or making something. She didnt have good hand writing so its like hard to understand humans sometimes. If like I wanted to take her back to her family, and her stuff, would there be like... umm.. someway to do that?"

She blinked and flashed her eyes, and shifted her body in what would be a somewhat alluring way, even though it was obvious she was trying to sweet talk him, it wasn't sincere.

Heck, it was almost an exceptional yes. We'll put that aside for now. But I have an idea.

Does Kurth know anything about Rence? Unlikely: 1d100 ⇒ 23 No, but...

Kurth remembers that Reid had identified himself as being from Rence as well. And she described it as a small backwater town. And yet she didn't recognize Bolton Reid when he was supposedly "dripping in blood" after killing her friend?

Kurth walked out of the room and immediately spied Sergeant Mandrake--a large, imposing man, with grey hair and vicious scars covering his face. An old war wound, was the common story.

"Sergeant," Kurth said giving the man a courteous nod. He then frowned. "Where are the other guards?"

"I sent them all home. It's late and this case didn't seem all that important."

Kurth resisted the urge to throw something at the man. Mandrake wasn't an inquisitor, and so he wasn't in his chain of command. And the Inquisitors often had a contentious relationship with the Church Guard at the best of times. Still losing his head here wouldn't be a good idea.

"You should have consulted with me first, Sergeant." Kurth took a deep breath and calmed himself. "What's done is done. Look, that elf woman claims she witnessed the aftermath of the attack, but her story isn't adding up. Keep an eye on her. If she tries to leave, place her under arrest."

She had no idea that she could even make it from the beast, unsure what it was. She gathered her courage, sent a prayer to Phrsama for safety, and dashed towards the exit. Hoping to make it from the room and go out the door she came in from, she could lead someone else back, or at least report it to the authorities. This is not what she imagined when she left her small border village.

Acrobatics to make it out safely, and Perception to see if there is any alarm she could raise as she bounces out hopefully safely: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 191d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28

She safely made it out, but now ran into the problem of how to alert the guards. It feels like a few seconds but she then spots what she hopes is a watchtower alarm, that would alert everyone to their location. She will dash towards it once she is able to regain her breath

We should put Tandar in the initiative order. And I meant to link a stat block last night, but I was busy. And unfortunately I can't use PFSRD from work. I'll take care of that when I get home later.

Tandar : 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Mandrake feels the impact from the makeshift club, but it doesn't seem to hurt him at all. He growls at Bolton and looks ready to attack but is suddenly swept off his feet.

The werewolf was out of AOO's.

Kurth CON DC 10: 1d20 + 2 - 3 ⇒ (12) + 2 - 3 = 11

Kurth stabilizes. So that's good news.

The werewolf gets to his feet, and tries to bite Tandar.

Bite vs Tandar: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19; hit!
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Trip: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (2) + 6 = 8; miss

Tandar : 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Kurth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Bold are up. And Tandar needs to make a DC 15 fortitude save. Bolton and Tandar also get AOOs from when it stood up.

Feeling a sudden burst of energy, she rushes towards the alarm flare, unsure of what it will do, but hoping it will bring the help they need. And it might even distract the beast long enough they will win, or it will flee. Either way, it's time was short, unless the beast had already taken care of the alarm

Did Mandrake take out the alarm before coming in? Very Unlikely: 1d100 ⇒ 4 dodge a bullet there. My reasoning is he didnt expect anyone to be there when he went to attack us. if I'm wrong we can change it

See the alarm still intact, she sets it off, not knowing what it does, but any fool can figure out what a hanging rope means. At least it looks like its an alarm.
Str to activate alarm: 1d20 ⇒ 18
After pulling on the rope, a loud ringing starts to surround the building, like some type of bell has been pulled. Hopefully the rest of the guard will get here soon, or else the friendly dwarf will be eaten.

Bolton curses lightly as he realizes his peg of wood will do him no good. Though he doesn't seem to know why, the best he can do is hope the woman that left before might get some help, and distract the creature with the other man who came in, in an attempt to stall for time. Seeing the male elf injured from the savage bite, he looks as though he wants to offer some aid but realizes his components too were taken from him. Taking a step towards him, he tries to distract the creature to bolster Tandar's defense.

Aid Tandar's AC: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
+2 to Tandar's AC for the next one.

I somewhat implied it earlier, but do the men sent away by Mandrake question the orders, given the lack of chain of command suggested by Kurth earlier? Somewhat Likely: 1d100 ⇒ 1 Exceptional Yes Was going to go for a 1d4 rounds before they might arrive, but i suppose i'll do 1d4-1, and then it's basically everyone that was sent away and not just a couple that question it.

Rounds for help to come.: 1d4 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
Number of people that return: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

Almost immediately after Halia tries to set the alarm, (which i believe does actually fail, it would seem as the rope falls loose... it looked in tact, but apparently not ? xD A small troop of four well armed, along with a divine caster of some sort among them, sees her and questions what's going on. A bit dazed at the fact the alarm bell's rope just fell like it did when pulled.

Werewolf bite/damage: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 131d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
The werewolf bites at Tandar as he falls to the ground (again) from Tandars expert swing

Looks like Kurth is up

Kurth lies still on the ground.

I'm already stabilized, so my turn is pretty uneventful. The werewolf is up. Let's see if he hears the guards outside with Halia.

Werewolf Mandrake Perception DC 15: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

Mandrake stands up--More AOOs--and bites Tandar once again. And with a single shake of his powerful neck, he throws the annoying elf to the ground.

Bite vs. Tandar: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19; hit!
Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Trip: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25; tripped!

Tandar : 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5

Kurth: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Bold are up. Tandar is at 1 HP. The werewolf is annoyingly effective in my hands. Really hope Halia brings in the cavalry.

Halia quickly, and shakily explains that she was here to serve as a witness when some monsterous wolf like creature started to eat the dwarf who was questioning her. She points out the way, and states before dashing off " I am going to try and find more help, try the other alarms." She really hopes that Mandrake didn't deactivate all the alarms

Did Mandrake deactivate all the alarms nearby? Unlikely: 1d100 ⇒ 93 I believe that is a form of no, so will proceed since my first one failed.

After pointing out the way, she dashes to where she thinks they would have a second alarm, reaching to pull it as the other guards go towards the hallway with the werewolf inside. The sounds of battle would also have given away where the fighting was happening.

Bolton takes advantage of the werewolf's attempt to stand up, trying to jab at his eyes. Unfortunately, he leaves himself open during this, but hopes that the wolf might be blinded for even just a moment.

Bite AOO vs. Bolton: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (12) + 6 - 4 = 14
Bite Damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7

Dirty Trick, provokes: 1d20 + 4 - 7 ⇒ (9) + 4 - 7 = 6

Unfortunately, Bolton does nothing but leave himself open for an injury as despite the wolf's standing up, Bolton is too easy open without his armor. He struggles and manages to keep his standing position despite the wolf's attempt to drag him down, while it stands up.

.

The small troop listens only briefly before getting the idea that one of their own is in danger, and rush to Silvermug's aid. They just barely get to the entrance of the building and see what is going on inside, though, and don't have a chance to intervene quite Yet. That said, the werewolf now sees four new foes, actually armed unlike those he was fighting up until now.

We'll let them drop in after Mandrake's next action.

Tandar strikes in synchrony with Bolton lashing out at the eyes, However he is distracted by the wolfs attempted bite and misses his mark.

Dirty trick -4 if it doesn' count as using a weapon: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8

Mandrake seems to cackle at Bolton and Tandar's attempts to subdue him.

Will Mandrake flee when he see the guards? Somewhat Likely: 1d100 ⇒ 87; No.

Bite vs Bolton: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7; miss!

Mandrake tries to tear out Bolton's throat, but misses badly.

Gonna roll up a cleric in a moment for the help. Just give me a few...
