Samirah and Konstantin:
A little while after Otai offered the smoked preparation made from the gecko the group had turned over, both food and more drink is brought to the table. The woman who sets the large platter of meat and sides keeps glancing at the far side of the large barroom. A loud noise causes her to jump, pulling her attention back to the table and the platter before her as her hand knocks over a heavy wine bottle, her hazel eyes going wide as the edge of the platter clanks onto the table. Flustered she tries to do too many things at once, preventing the bottle from falling, the glasses from clattering and the food from splattering, all while starting an apology that cycles between light blasphemy and embarrassment.
Roshan:
Late on the second night that you stayed in the Defender's Heart, after most people have fallen asleep, Roshan jerks awake, the echoes of a song off in the distance barely heard pulling him from his slumber.
Chancre:
"A very minor healer." The old woman says. She smiles, pats Chancre's hand, "I'm not from Kenabres, although I can assume a good many people are born and some do live long lives here." Her eyes move over the warriors and the wounded, "Some. Most do not live long lives." She breathes out, "I had a good life, further away from the border, but when my husband passed on I..."

She shakes her head, "There are places that call out for beauty, for the creation of something good. This place screams for it." Her eyes droop a little, weariness or sadness touching her shoulders.

Samirah:
With a few murmured words and some gestures, Konstantin stops the woman from spilling much of anything.

Chancre attacks the rat demon one more time.

Attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8

Then moves away.

I think I can do that without taking an AoO.

GM/Shelyn woman:
Chancre cocks his head to the side, slowly looks around the room.

"It does," he says. "But don't let it get you down, little bird. Every extra piece of beauty...."

He shakes his head. "No great work is ever really finished, and trying to do something like that in this place is like some Feat of Legend."

He drums the fingers of one hand against the back of the other. And sighs. "I have already seen terrible things and amazing things."

"I'm sorry, I don't think I can fix your problem, but I'm happy to listen. Happier still to talk."

Chancre holds out his hand. "Chance Cailean. And if you don't want to share your name, I'll just call you Jane Little Bird."

On the northern side of the room, the rat-demon struggles against Drea's pin and does not manage the barest glimmer of success.

On the south side of the room, the rat demon hisses at the now standing Chancre, attempting a bite, before laying in the rest of his attacks at the healer, Irabeth. Just barely does her armor protect her from a heavy bite.

Irabeth takes a quick look at Chancre, then swings her sword, hoping to take the down the demon before it attacks again. Her blow hits, but does not down the creature.

Chancre attacks the rat demon one more time. Then steps away from the demon.

"You let him go." The dwarf's voice, low and nasty. "I won't let you break any more of my toys." Three force missiles slam into Drea, one into Samirah. "You I have no quarrel with, leave me alone." Drea takes 3d4 + 3 ⇒ (1, 4, 1) + 3 = 9 damage and Samirah takes 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 damage.)

Samirah darts towards where she thinks her fire and Roshan's weapon found their marks, and swings her scimitar. 1d2 ⇒ 1 But misses.

Her face expressionless, Drea starts kissing the demon to death.

With the demon pinned, Míril takes a moment to line up her sword just so, and thrusts into its black heart. Fort DC 23: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18 And the demon dies.

Roshan's blades bounce off the wall from whence the bark of pain emanated just scant seconds earlier. An animal like rumble emerges from the hooded man's chest as he begins his search anew.

A badly wounded Konstantin slides over to flank the demon and continues his melee assault. Only one claw hits, but it is enough to leave the rat-demon bleeding black blood on the once-white stone floor.

Leaving the only enemy in the room the invisible dwarven spellcaster.

The door to the west reveals a small personal chamber, the blood of the priest who once dwelt there a marroon stain on the ground. A long table and six chairs have been pushed against the western wall. On the opposite wall, a tapestry depicting a map of Mendev hangs from a silver rod—the tapestry has been slashed several times and splashed with filth. A bedroll sits on the floor, and on the nearby table is an array of alchemical devices and a long wooden sword case wrapped with cords, as if ready for travel.

The sword case holds a beautifully simple weapon whose presence visibly poleaxes Irabeth, her green skin lightening unhealthily. Tucked near the hilt there is a rolled parchment.

Amid the alchemical reagents on the table there is a holy symbol of Iomeadae soaking in a vile liquid that reeks of blood and puss.

C: alchemy DC 20 or Heal DC 25:
It seems that the smoky alchemist tiefling had been attempting to find a way to imbue metal - the holy symbol - with demon plague.

From the notes, it does not look like he was close to breakthrough.

Konstantin:
The glowing seems to outline a door, although you can see no latch or means of opening it. Closer though, you can see just the barest image of a sword before a sunburst - just like the one Irabeth pointed out in the desecrated chapel.
Chancre:
Many of the beakers does have blood and pus from presumably plague victims, however the holy symbol, if cleaned, is untainted by poison, alchemy or magic. One would dispose of the noxious elements the way one would of any medical waste - lots of cleansing fire.

The demonplague is a terrible affliction spreading through water in the Worldwound that both kills animals and corrupts plants. The disease brings on madness—paranoia and hallucinations—then decay and rot, including loss of limbs, and then, finally, death. Unintelligent creatures afflicted by the disease rise soon thereafter as undead creatures called plagued beasts; plagued beasts are also carriers of the disease, passing it on to anyone they contact. Outside the Worldwound, the disease seems much less virulent proving its Abyssal heritage

Samirah looks at Konstantin; chin tilted up, eyes closed, a small, satisfied smile on her face. Nearly sticks her tongue out at him, and seems to think better of it.

Konstantin leans down to give Samirah a peck on the mouth.

She looks pleasantly surprised for just a moment before an almost embarrassed smile causes her eyes to crinkle at their corners. "თქვენ კაცი." She murmurs.

Ignan:

Oh you.

"There appears to be a door here," Konstantin says from his place by the eastern wall, by the altar. "Я очень надеюсь, что размытие кала на это не нужно, чтобы открыть его."
"Yeah, me too," replies Míril. She approaches the door and starts checking it for traps and the opening mechanism.

Miril:
There does not appear to be any mechanical mechanism for opening the door, but with the close inspection, Miril can see the exact same design as the one that Irabeth pointed out in the chapel. Which had a prayer written on it - although there is no words on the one here.

Disable Device: 1d20 + 14 + 4 ⇒ (8) + 14 + 4 = 26 (+4 bonus from the perception check)
The prayer from the other room was 'Let us inherit thine arms, Iomedae.'

Samirah bows her head slightly and touches her hand to her heart before straightening. "I am sorry for your loss. Although the locale isn't ideal, I find it to be a good thing that the sword make it back into family hands."

Irabeth inclines her head at Samirah's words, her eyes lighting with a smile that doesn't quite reach her lips, "Old wounds, well healed."

After reading and sharing the note, Samirah makes a face. "More names."

"If they didn't provide names, then you wouldn't know who to curse."

More seriously, "Staunton is the procházení hnoje červ who played at being a righteous crusader for the past twenty years while tricking good people into the slaughter of the demons." Considering the note, "And this does seem to indicate that your original intelligence about Nyserian's allegiance was accurate, despite his home being leveled." An inelegant snort, "Collateral damage is not something demons limit to their enemies."

"It's true; knowing who to curse is one of the most important parts of a task like this one."

She looks around the room at the mess the cultists have made. "If they weren't careless, chaotic monsters, they wouldn't be called demons, would they?" As a belated afterthought: "Though clearly there are exceptions." She waves to Drea.

"In any case, is Staunton someone we should look into pursuing once our work in Kenabres is done? And who is his brother?"

After inspecting the secret door, Míril says aloud, "This is the same design as the secret door back in the chapel. No mechanical way to open it. Probably a prayer. We can try the one from before, since there's nothing written on this one."

She steps back a couple of steps. "Let us inherit thine arms, Iomedae," she intones.

"Thank you for the kind thought," Drea says quietly.

She looks like she wants to say more, but, after a quick glance around at the assembled group, apparently decides to wait until she can do so more privately.

As Miril speaks Iomeadae's name their is a bright line of light outlining the shape of a door, a flash so bright it causes after images, and there is a door-sized hole in the wall revealing...

A small chamber is free of dust. A holy symbol of Iomedae hangs unmolested on the wall above a weapon rack filled with swords, crossbows, and spears. Three wooden dummies wear pristine suits of armor. A shelf holds several leather quivers, each stamped with a golden sun. Two silver shields hang from pegs on the wall.

"Duwiau trugarog. Yr sgleiniog," says Míril breathlessly.

Elven:
"Merciful gods. The shiny."
