Congratulations on being selected! Could our five players please post in this thread so I know everyone is still active and interested. If I don't hear from you in the next day you may be replaced, so please do so asap!

It is at this stage that you will all need to finalize your characters. I may allow some changes later on after some play time, as I know how different it can be seeing a character on paper to actually using them, but everyone should make sure they are ready to play. Play will begin when everyone has posted in here, and I post again to say it's open.

Once again I would like to remind everyone this is my first attempt at PbP GMing, so it will likely be a bit bumpy for a little while until I work out the kinks. Bear with me, and any suggestions feel free to offer em as long as we all stay civil :)

Acknowledged! Algharud and me are ready to go toe-to-toe with whatever may come!

@Fellow players: Do you like to do some "fine-tuning" with our characters as to make them a well rounded party? (No min-maxing, but it seems this seems a no-brainer).

@DM: What relation do our characters have to each other?

Sigh....no way we can do a 6 player campaign?? Pretty pleaseee...:D

Like In my storyline I kinda tag along lol...

Your main association will be through the Pathfinders, I have a few ideas to link you all together a bit more now that I know who's playing too, so I'll work on that and hopefully post it soon, either before, or when I start the gameplay thread.

Sorry Lorasaadi, just the 5 players for now.

Acknowledged and read.

Working out some of the details now. Heck, time to spend that starting money!

Other than gear, combat stats based on gear, untrained skills, and skill modifications from gear, I think Meriui is fairly well complete. I can be talked into making some modifications for party needs, but the concept is fairly well implemented. I guess weapon choice and combat feats are the easiest thing to talk me into changing. Meriui is NOT a combat beast, though. He is useful in other ways . . ..

Alright, I'm putting everyone's characters into hero labs at the moment, so please find below any changes necessary, as well as some suggestions.

Algharud: You've short-change yourself a language, you get Osirion for free from being a native Garundi, thus giving you another choice due to your intelligence. In worse news both the traits you have selected are Combat Traits, and you can't have more than one trait from the same category. I seem to have come to a different amount of cash left too, buying everything you have listed (assuming 'adventuring gear' is a pathfinder kit from Pathfinder Society Field Guide,) including a free wayfinder I came up with on 56gp left.

Oh, could you copy Algharud's background into his profile too? Thanks.

Omari: Your character looks good except you haven't chosen any spells. If you want to update your profile with what he will have prepared for the start of the RP, thanks. You also seem to have 2 too many hit points, and buying the gear you listed I still had 230gp left, though I couldn't find what you meant for poles, other than 4x10 foot poles, which seemed unlikely.

Seneb: I'll need a full listing of what spells are in your spellbook, it looks like he should have about 11 1st level and 6 2nd level (or some other combination of the two) spells in it. I also can't seem to find the Tomb Raider trait listed, where is it from? Wow, you rolled pretty bad for hitpoints... why don't you reroll that 1.

Is there any particular reason why he's wearing Lamelar armor? It seems a bit odd being an eastern style of armor :p How much cash did you have left over? With the free wayfinder I come to 307gp left over.

Meriui: You seemed to have shortchanged yourself a language (pick another), and some HP as well, add the 5 from Pathfinder Chronicler :) Still need gear as well, but you know that.

Well, gear update completed.

Shortchanged myself a language? Must be a bonus language from type of human. Easily corrected. Will probably be done before you read this posting, actually.

Shortchanged myself hit points? I WISH! Rogue & Pathfinder Chronicler are both D8s. 8+(5x5)+0 (Con)+5 (Favored Class Bonus for Rogue levels) = 13+25=38, which is what I already show. Heck, my first draft showed 39 because I gave myself an erroneous Favored Class Bonus for Pathfinder Chronicler.

Edit:
Heh. I went with lamellar armor, too, though I had mine made of Darkleaf Cloth. I was thinking of the climate and the fact that in our world, the mid-East traded far more routinely with the far East than the West. Leather armors built to wear in the heat would be tight, very close and form-fitting in order to prevent them from trapping heat underneath them. The stitched layers of lamellar would provide a more breathable suit of armor, eliminating the requirement for it to be as tight against the wearer's body. (My better ren faire garb includes a leather doublet. In 80+ degree heat wearing it tight or loose makes an OBVIOUS difference, let alone in 100+ degree heat.)

Oh, and language added.

Sure, no problem. :)

0: Acid Splash, Arcane Mark, Dancing Lights, Daze, Detect Magic, Disrupt Undead, Flare, Ghost Sound, Light, Mage Hand, Open/Close, Prestidigitation, Ray of Frost, Read Magic, Spark
1: Adjuring Step, Chill Touch, Expeditious Retreat, Feather Fall, Grease, Jump, Mount, Ray of Enfeeblement, Shield, Shocking Grasp, True Strike, Vanish
2: Brow Gasher, Bull's Strength, Effortless Armor, Frigid Touch, Mirror Image, Shatter

HP: 2d8 ⇒ (1, 7) = 8 = 7 (rolled 2 since the 1st was another 1 :) )

Well, it seemed that the Lamellar would actually fit. With the leather scales, it seemed like something wouldn't be too far from possible for Ancient Egypt. :)

Well, I need to add back the 250 for the Wayfinder, so I'll have a couple other things to purchase with the 301 GP, 5 SP and 2 CP. :)

The Tomb Raider trait is in the PFS Guide to Organized Play. I can swap it out if need be...

You've spent most of your life exploring the ancient tombs and catacombs of Osirion. You gain a +1 bonus on Perception and Knowledge (dungeoneering) checks and one of these skills (your choice) is always a class skill for you.

You're missing a 5 there for Pathfinder Chronicler. I dunno if you have hitpoints listed elsewhere, but that is what I was referring to. As for the language, you would have gotten Osirian for free what with being a native Garundi, so that would probably have been why.

I guess I'm okay with the Lamellar armor, as most ocean going trade with Sothis actually sails along the inner sea and takes the long route to Goka instead of braving the dangers of arcadia and surrounding waters. It's still a little odd.

Hey there ya go Seneb, now you're only 2 points behind where you would have been taking 'average' :p

EDIT: Ahhh, okay. It's been quite a while since I've looked at that, and didn't have it ticked in herolabs, which is why I couldn't find it... The search didn't find it on the pfsrd though either... Ahh well. No that's fine I was just wanting to look at it myself.

Thank you for the advice on Algharud. I've updated his profile. I took Ignan as a language, because I thought that would come naturally to someone living in a desert.

Well, yes and no. The Class spoiler is in 3 sections. The first section documents the benefits of 5 levels of Rogue. The second section documents the benefits of 1 level of Pathfinder Chronicler. The third section provides the total BAB, Save and HP from all 6 levels.

I indeed bought four ten foot poles, I figured Omari would like a four walled tent, not just a pup tent. Think what turn of the century explorers of the Sahara would have. As for spells, let me put those into my profile.

Excellent, everyone made it :)

Ahh okay Meriui, didn't realise that was how you were doing it. Frankly I find your character 'sheet' a little confusing :p

As for four ten-foot poles, I'd say that the tent you already purchased would come with whatever poles it needs to erect it. If you want a larger tent then there are bigger versions available for purchase :)

As for haste Halister will be able to get it next level, as well as Seneb?

Alright well I've been called into work tonight, so I will work on the opening post there, and hopefully be able to make said post in the morning :) Feel free to chat in here in the mean time, and no need for ooc tags in here :)

Well, that's what happens when an old guy works by hand from books in his lap rather than pay somebody else to license the books AGAIN so that he can have software do all the intermediate steps for him . . ..

If you have a specific format you would prefer I adapt, provide it.

I just winged my online character sheet format. I used the book for all my stuff though on my paper sheet however Meriui. No need to insult those who use third party engines to speed up character creation. I think the GM just wanted the meat of the character, not the meta.

How is saying I don't want to pay multiple times to use the books I already have insulting somebody?

You WANT to be insulted, feel free, but don't accuse me of insulting you while I am describing myself as an old guy doing things by hand.

After the judge says he has trouble reading my format, how is it insulting to tell him that I can adopt a format of his preference once he identifies it?

Yeah Herolabs is expensive but I like making characters when the inspiration strikes me, and it is ohhh, so much easier. As to a format I'd prefer, I normally like to emulate the monster/npc statblocks, that way I know where to look for everything :)

I do have an itching to run and/or play a short old school/ironman game. 6x3d6 stats in order :D Not likely to get around to doing that for a good long while, if ever though.

Anyway, just putting the finishing touches to the opening post, should hopefully have it done before I have to get ta bed.

As much trouble as native speakers have understanding each other all the time, your additional level of complication is far less significant than you might think.

You are doing FAR better in our langauge than I would in Duetsch. (I'm guessing. I know oder could be from a couple of langauges, so I took a shot.)

As to mistakes of language, well we all have those every now and then, even when it is our native language, at least I do anyway.

I guess, we need a new divine caster...

Ahh is this likely to be an extended thing (more than a week or two), or would it be okay if I played as Omari with your permission until you were able to dedicate some time to the RP again?

Male Human Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) 6

Another option could be, if we set out with the remaining four. The bard can use a wand of cure light wounds to heal us after combat. This would solve the major problem of having too few healing.

As for tanking and melee I think, Algharud and Seneb can hold the tide off most of the time.

Omari could then rejoin the group later (perhaps with some deus ex machinal-flair).

Well, what does everyone think? Do they want a healer on a stick, or should I find a replacement?

Male Human Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) 6

I think, wands will do. Let Lorassadi have Omaris place. Another pair of strong arms will help killing enemies faster and therefor prevents additional damage.

Male Human Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) 6

I won't be at home this weekend. Depending on internet access, it might happen, that my next posts delay until monday.

That's alright, due to a few changes at work and some swapped shifts I'm about to more or less disappear for a good day and a half to two days (thanks for reminding me to tell you guys). I'll probably be able to get on at some point in the intervening period but not to make a large post.

Unless Omari EXPECTS to be able to rejoin us in a couple of weeks, we should probably replace him. Unless the module provides a specific need for Clerical abilities, we should be able to have fun regardless of the class of the replacement. If we need a Cleric, though, then we need a Cleric.

As for the whole "life happens" interruptions, those are normal enough.

There's no specific need for a cleric no, so if you're happy to continue without him then we shall do so. Is everyone happy to drop Omari in favour of Lorasaadi?

Seneb? You still there too? You haven't posted in a few days.

Hi guys heard you arrived short of one, I am ok to join in. However do you need me to do another character to complete the group? I am fine and I don't mind playing another class like a caster or healer etc.

Well if you've got an idea for a healer type (even a 'secondary healer' like a druid, witch, alchemist, etc. would be fine) then that could be good, otherwise I'll just make sure to throw wands at you guys every now and then and you can stick with Lorasaadi.

He has inquisitive dark eyes that are like two pebbles on the snowing plain. He is small and has an athletic build. His fur is pure white. He has small quick hands and a long white furry tail. He has well groomed whiskers. He wears a tight fitted leather armor with a flowing purple cloak. he carries a ornamented scimitar.

Personality
--------------------
Thordan like all ratfolks love shiny objects. He loves gold silver and anything that reflect lights. He polished his scimitar every day so that it catches the sunlight with his every stroke. Thordan has a very outgoing personality and loves to meet new people. Usually he goes into a complete chitter chatter frenzy and starts telling complete strangers his dreams and where he came from. When he is excited he twitches his whiskers and his tail moves around. He always love a good adventure and cannot help but literally poke his nose into matters that intrigue him, like why is the baker missing 2 loaves of bread 2 nights ago or why is there strange noises coming from the sewers at night? More than all these, Thordan loves to sing though to the untrained ear it may just sound like 2 rats squeaking in harmony at certain high notes of the song. His favorite phase? I will Never Fail!.

Background
--------------------

In the beginning...there was MICE!!
Somewhere far far away in the Verduran Forest lies a warren of ratfolks living together harmoniously. The nearest human settlement was the sleepy town of Falcon Hollow which lumberjacks mostly lived in. It is in one of the many barrows in the warren, Thordan Silentail was born. He was born as a stillborn in a litter of 5 rats. His mother Mrs Silentail was sad that one of them is a stillborn

Well at least i have 4 of them... she thought.

Just when Mrs Silentil was about to ask the nursing mother to dispose of him, Thordan Silentail started wailing..thus the runt of the of household Silentail was born.

Growing up, Thordan accompanys his father Mr Silentail in tending their carrot fields while his older brothers and sisters learnt and studied in schools about crafts and merchantship. While Thordan loves carrot, he definitely do not love them so much that he will spend everyday with them!!

Why can't I attend school like my brothers and sisters Dad?
Well that's because you are so small Thordan, it's better you stay beside me... replied Mr Silentail.

You see, his siblings all grew tall and strong like normal Ratfolk children and they always bully Thordan due to his smaller size.

Someday i will grow to be the biggest Rat in this village...no in this world!! Wait till you see!! I will never fail!! Thordan shrieks after the other children in the village as they laughed and pounced away leaving him sitting in the mud.

One day, while Thordan was carrying carrots to the warren market to sell for the he came across a merchant stall selling books. Like all good old curious ratfolk, he cant helped but be drawn towards the shiny object located in the piles of trinkets. He dug into the pile and pulled out a needle like object.

Ahhh...I see you found something intresting. Got it off a training fighting school instructor for children in the city of Almas. He mentioned that he wanted to be a baker instead that's why he is selling away all his gear the white furred ratfolk merchant chattered.

Thordan pull out the blade from the brown scabbard and it is a plain dull steel rapier designed for a young human child. He touched the pointed end of the rapier and it was sharp

I can sell trade you for it...those huge carrots of yours look mighty fine...so what say you my furry lad?

Thordan hesitated but he can feel the furs on his back tingling with excitement.

I tell you what, since we are fated together on this fine day. I shall throw in a book that teaches you how to fence. No use trying to use that ting without proper training aye?

Thordan left the stall a happy Ratboy carrying the blade and a book titiled "In Out, In Out, the basic steps for the aspiring rapier-ist.". Of course he was canned by Mr Silenthil that evening for losing the carrots but Thordan took it all with a smile knowing his trusty sword which of no surprise he named it "Needle" was safely hidden under one the the loose floorboards in the barn...

Seasons passed, and Thordan has grown considerably much from the last time we met him. By now he has memorized and mastered every move in the book, thanks to his late night trainings alone in the barn. One day, Thordan had a crazy idea to start an adventure of his own. Packing his gear and trusty Needle, he venture out into the woods..

On his journey, he heard a loud scream in the woods. Curious, he dashed towards the scream. In the foliage he saw a young human girl cornered by a snarling timber wolf. Instinctively, Thordan screamed and dashed out of the bush towards the wolf.

The girl screamed when she saw a screaming ratfolk burst out of a bush.

Oh furry paws, I do not know if this was a good idea.. thought Thordan before turning his focus back on the wolf.

The wolf turned around and pounced towards the charging ratboy. Upon closer inspection, Thordan realized that the timber wolf is at least 2 times his size. His training took over and he thrust his rapier towards the wolf, the wolf landed unto Thordan with a yelp burying him under a mass of bones and fur. His rapier has found it's mark and it has pierced the heart of the wolf. Thordan rolled over the wolf over his body as he faced the young human girl. He never noticed before but she seems well dressed with a nice silk dress with golden braided hair set in a complicated intertwining pattern.

Must be a lady thought Thordan as he bowed before the girl and said Thordan Silentail at your service My Lady"

Just at that moment a steed burst out from the green foliage.

Back off fiend!! spoke the rider on the steed. He was dressed in a suit of dark leather armor as he readied his sword.

Ricardo stop it! He just saved my life! shouted the girl.

But My Lady...he is a monster. replied the knight. Thordan frowned at that remark.

It is a command! Ricardo snorted in disbelief before sheathing his sword.

The girl then introduced herself as Fiona Evenheart the daughter of a local rich merchant. She introduced Ricardo as her father's captain and they are out today for a hunting trip. She then invited Thordan to accompany her at her castle despite Ricardo's protest.

Sir Mouse Guard?
Fiona was thrilled with Thordan's tail as she keeps touching it and asking him to do tricks with it. When they arrived at the castle courtyard, her father Merchant Lord Tharkin stepped out to greet her. He was amused at her daughter's furry companion. Fiona then moved on to explain how Thordan rushed to her rescue when the wolf threatened her. Lord Tharkin thanked Thordan and asked him what can he do in return? Before Thordan could reply, Fiona stepped in and requested Thordan to be her personal bodyguard. Lord Tharkin was flabbergasted but he gave in to her daughter whom he loves very much.

Sir Thordan Silentail will you take the honor and oath to serve my house to protect at all cost the life of Fiona Evenheart all the days of your life?

i will never fail, My Lord. replied Thordan.

So it was at this place Thordan Silentail received his training for the next 6 years under the tutelage of renowned Dervish Bard Prancelin Parques in the ways of the scimitar and dance. Whenever he is not training under Prancelin Parques he would be accompanying Fiona to hunting trips, town visits, dancing balls in his customized armor and scimitar.

n his 21st birthday, Fiona held a grand party for Thordan. There was fireworks, magicians and alot alot of cheese...Thordan was ecstatic and touched at the same time. When Fiona brought him aside and asked him what can she give him as a birthday present Thordan replied he would like to go on an adventure. An expedition to recover lost treasure. Fiona was sad upon hearing that but she spoke to her father on Thordan's behalf about his desire.

Lord Tharkin upon hearing that request was very enthusiastic about sending him away. Unknown to both Fiona and Thordan, he finds Thordan a nuisance and for a more important reason. He has plans to arrange the marriage of Fiona to another Merchant's Son to secure a profitable trade route as she too has come of marriageable age. He then arranged a boat to take Thordan to Orision Pathfinder Lodge as he heard from his sources that they are planning an expedition to explore the Land of The Pharaohs and they need a warrior trained in the arts of healing.

After saying his goodbyes to a tearing Fiona, he boarded the ship bound for Orision with a letter and a bag of gold. The letter would explain why Thordan was being recommended and the bag of gold to contribute to the expedition funds as goodwill. Thordan sniffed the air, it definitely smells of adventure..Furry paws...Let's hope they eat cheese there...thought Thordan as the ship sailed into the sunset.
