So originally were we going to westcrown? I don't remember but somehow we sailed way past Cheliax out of the inner sea and into the Arcadian Ocean and into the Hellmouth Gulf, or are you putting Blackcove somewhere else?

Hadran awakes the next morning renewed. He goes about greeting the villagers to see them all settling back in. He then meets with Burkhardt and Midfoviing for breakfast.

"We are on the western shore of Cheliax. Egorian is the capital and would be a place to start if we are looking for artifacts of power."

That sounds right. Burkhardt will pass on pacts here, as it's entirely likely that making pacts is what got these folk into trouble in the first place. Blackcove probably needs to be single for a while. ;)

"Mffm," said Burkhardt, a cheek full of toasted bread. "I'd think so. Can't say I'm excited to surround myself with devil-worshippers, but if these artifacts are as you say, then it's much worse to be left unattended. And we need them. What's the best route? Ship, horse?"

There were certainly many ways to reach your destination, many of which were likely usable...

...and "not excited" might be a fairly mild way to describe being around diabolists. XD When it comes to Outsiders and such, remember that you are deities, and would have THAT sort of viewpoint. For Outsiders who are very much against your alignment and ideology...

Yup! Understatements and all.

"Sounds like horse then." Burkhardt wipes his face with a napkin after finishing his breakfast, and nods the other two. "Come, let us find the master of Blackcove's stable. Do you ride, Midfoviing, or will you fly?"

"I'll walk." the dragon-girl said, raising an arm and waving slightly. "Horses tend to act like I'd eat them (and they're not wrong), and flying too long is a little weird, so I can hoof it."

That said, any horses you bought here weren't likely to be returned, so you'd definitely have to convince the owner to sell. Gold always worked, of course, although a bit of persuasion might be able to help you get a better deal.

Burkhardt approached the stablemaster. "Ho there, groomsman! A couple horses for sale? Let us barter! Rednal did we recover anything from the island? Where is the phat lootz at? :)

Loot depends on where you look. XD I do recall you getting a fair bit from the tower...

The stablemaster seemed... surprised... by Burkhardt's almost aggressively friendly offer to help out. Hadran's offer helped him to relax a little more, though, and he nodded. "Well, I reckon you can get a fair bit of feed. Tell you what - we'll give each a month's worth." he offered. "Should be enough to get you wherever you're going, especially if you let 'em graze proper."

Corentyn works.

You had your steeds, you had your minions, you had food, and you had a destination. A little something like terrain wasn't liable to slow either of you two down, and following the coast was one of the easiest types of navigation imaginable. (Really, it would have been worrying if you hadn't made an easy time of it, all things considered.) The days passed without too much trouble aside from the odd patrol of soldiers, until finally Corentyn came into sight by the Arch of Aroden. It would be easy enough to find a ship there to travel on - or you could simply continue on foot after resupplying.

Assuming he finds everything agreeable Hadran heads off with Midfoviing. Once at the inn he sits and orders some food for him and her as well as some drink.

"Midfoviing sit and enjoy as I attempt to gather some information on what things may pass through this place."

He then begins to mingle with the people Asking about items of power and artifacts and if there are merchants or others that deal in the sort of things. All along expressing they are simply treasure hunters seeking big scores.

Burkhardt gave an agreeable smile in response. He headed down to the docks and asked around for a ship headed to Westcrown. Again Burkhardt preferred to offer a service or come to some kind of agreement rather than offer coin for the journey, because while he now knew that Hadran had money to spare, he had no idea how much.

Midfoviing plopped down right where she was when Hadran told her to sit - she still seemed to struggle with social interaction, but eventually was talked into sitting somewhere out of the way instead. There were always rumors of powerful magical artifacts, of course, most of which were easy to dismiss as half-baked rumor. You did, however, hear one of particular interest. In preparation for an upcoming Loyalty Day festival, Chelish authorities were looking for additional proof of how some group called House Davian had been traitors - the name wasn't known to either of you, given the time that had passed since you first fell - and were keen on finding people who could investigate a site that had, until recently, been forbidden to all. Cheliax was a fairly rough land when it came to power, though, and indeed seemed to do most searching on its own thanks to the devils that served it. If the job didn't interest you, the best course of action would probably be traveling somewhere else.

Burkhardt joined up with Hadran at the inn later on and discussed the opportunity, mindful of who might be eavesdropping. "What do you think about this? It seems a worthwhile lead, but I wish to learn more of this House Davian. If they are traitors in a land such as this, they could carry righteous folk among the, and I don't well go back on my word once given - agreeing to the job means seeing it through to the end, far-reaching consequences be damned."

Indeed, the prospect troubled Burkhardt. While he is flexible in an agreement to the points of missing information or changing circumstances, the job as presented seemed one that would worsen the world when complete. That said, evil betraying evil is also common- and Cheliax wasn't likely to present many 'clean' opportunities to begin with.

After speaking with Burkhardt Hadran will seek out who they need to speak to about where the location is.

Some asking around noted that the Museum of History in town would be a good place to go to talk about any sort of new, sanctioned expedition. There was no great rush on the matter, of course - you certainly had the time to try and gather more information or make any preparations you thought might be useful before you set out.

"Hmm yes, just a moment then." Burkhardt disappeared to his room and performed the ritual to call Milo of Clyde. When asked why he was summoned, Burkhardt replied simply, "For starters, I ask that you help me learn what I can of House Davian. Let's join Hadran downstairs." He reappeared downstairs with that bit of stubble and followed Hadran out into the city.

Even with a lot of searching and questioning, there's not a lot of information on the group in question - history is a much-changed thing in Cheliax, and few people truly even know what's true anymore. However, they're repeatedly referred to as traitors that were crushed by the Thrune family at some point in the past - exactly how long ago isn't clear - and as such are regarded as enemies of the state by those that know about them.

"I've no objection. From the sounds of it, House Davion doesn't exist anymore - likely no one left to do wrong by." He sets off with Hadran towards the Museum of History, scratching at the mildly uncomfortable hair on his chin.

For a deity of goodness, that would be a concern...

Broad marble steps, barely dulled with age and showing only the tiniest of cracks lead to the solid, reinforced double doors of Corentyn’s Museum of History. The building stands in stark contrast to the surrounding structures, most of which are small, cramped, and crumbling. Two city guards stand at the intersection nearby, watching the tradesfolk, fishermen, vintners, and others who make High Quarter their home. It's not particularly crowded at the moment - indeed, the only one you see inside is a man glancing nervously at the intersection outside through a window in one of the side wings.

Once inside, Burkhardt delivered a simple but formal bow to the man, noting that he seemed to desire discretion. "Greetings, my good man."

As you spoke, the man repeatedly glanced out the window, looking like he was slowly growing more agitated. "Investigations. Yes. It has all sorts of official approval, of course, wouldn't dream of it as a possibility otherwise." he wiped a bit of sweat off of his brow. "J-just the two of you then, is it? Hadran nods and lets Burkhardt handle the conversation. He approaches closer though as they talk and tries to get a look out to what seems to be bothering the man.

He was probably expecting trouble, all things considered... you were in Cheliax, after all.

Looking out, something catches your eye - the guards out on the street seem to have vacated their place on the corner, and the museum's proprietor let out a groan. "Are you trying to disrupt my position here in the city with statements like that!?" he hissed. "History is delicate business!" He looked like he was rapidly approaching the point of genuine panic.

Divine force tended to solve problems - and this time was no exception as the man quickly started to calm down. Of course, a god's nature tended to manifest in the powers they displayed... and you could almost see the man growing more of a spine as the god of valor's energy surged into him.

"I... I'm sorry, I don't really know what came over me there." he said, shaking his head a bit. "It's just... my friend, they're a valuable historic asset, but I'm worried that the Order of the Rack is planning to make them, well, disappear. From my understanding yes - he has friend(s) from House Davian, and the expected course of finding this evidence would bring them to great harm. What he wants us to do is complete the job yet leave them intact. I'll let Rednal confirm before doing anything.

Right, jumping to a conclusion. Anyway...

Burkhardt kept his exasperation to himself. "You need not worry, sir. You are our only contact in this and can dictate how you would like to us to proceed. I am beholden to my words freely and rightly given, so please tell us: what can we do for you?"

"I..." the man looked around nervously, as if he half-expected a devil to be staring at him from behind a nearby corner. "G-go to the Fox Den. It's right on the southeast corner of the docks. Tell the doorkeeper that Zefiro sent you, make sure they haven't discovered my friend yet. I-if they have, help her escape notice." he said, clearly working as hard as he could to overcome his fear.

Nodding, Burkhardt went with Hadran to the Fox Den and indicated to the doorkeeper that they was sent by Zefiro's request.

The smell of raw fish, stale sweat, and old booze permeates this section of the West Drenches. Broken pathways are slick with mud where they aren’t simply flooded. Small wooden buildings are built around narrow canals brimming with dark water that flows swiftly out to sea. Sounds of a busy business district quiet intermittently, at which time the groaning boats and boisterous sailors in the nearby port are just loud enough to hear.

The woman behind the door didn't seem too keen on talking, but cracked it open slightly when Burkhardt mentioned Zefiro. "You're friends with the old ruin-lover, then?" she asked cautiously - a little bit of smooth talking would probably convince her to let you inside.

checking in, sorry buys weekend around the house.

First question is how are we going to play this at start? Do Orithos and I know each other? Will we be waking up in the same temple or structure. I'm still a little iffy on my mythic path. Guardian for sure I like trickster for the path dabble just not sure if it fits. Champion or Archmage may fit the profile better. Just wondering if we will be working together as it could change some decisions. Thanks. Will adjust my crunch to your template tomorrow at work.

If it helps, Trickster would let you Path Dabble -once-. If that's all you want from the path, then I recommend not taking it.

As for knowing each other or not, you should work that out between yourselves. ^^ Do you feel that your respective histories would have allowed for knowing each other before losing your thrones? If not, it could be interesting to come face-to-face with an unknown deity who has also lost their power... or perhaps form a closer relationship with someone you may not have known too well before. There are many ways we could do this, and I'm happy to listen to what the two of you would prefer. XD

Male Ifrit HP: 29/29 | AC: 21, T: 15, FF: 15, | Fort: 9, Reflex: 6, Will: 11 | CMB: +2, CMD: 15 | Init: +7, Perception: +7| MP: 3/5

At this moment, I'm just letting you know I also got back from a busy weekend, and I'm addressing the tasks that we've been assigned. I do have something to ask though.

I don't exactly know the end result of my character, so when it comes to explaining how the character will progress when they gain more levels, what do you want me to put down? My characters are more story driven than optimized or min/maxed. I can try to optimize if you want me to, but it really depends on the events of the campaign and how the character reacts to them, not necessarily a rock solid plan that will last an entire character development.

@Hadran - Yo! I'm glad you were able to make it! For our characters, I don't mind either way. I mean, the way I see it, our characters knowing each other is circumstantial. If Rednal puts you or I in a situation where you're in battle, and my character is close, we might hear each other and come to each other's aid. The only actual way I see of us knowing each other right off the bat is if we met in the same destination when we came out of our respective temples, and joined up then.

I don't think you really NEED to optimize. XD Pick things that you feel will work well for you... and if you change your mind, well, that's what retraining rules are for.

As for explaining your progression, just list the basic idea of what you plan to focus on. ^^ You don't need to decide everything right now, after all.

@GM, what do you think of this template seems strong. So thought I would ask about it Celestial Blessed

@Orithos. I'm glad we both got in as well. I think it works better for the story if we don't know each other and we will leave it up to the GM when and if we meet. I was thinking it would be cool though if it was kind of like Highlander. So if when we get close some sort of sixth sense thing goes off and we are like who or what is that guy. Is he like me? What do you think?

Yes, it is fairly strong. ^^ It also requires you to know a celestial entity... so you'll have to acquire it at some point later on in the campaign if you'd like to take it, as no celestial entity currently knows you. A Celestial Blessing is also a major gift, and the sort of thing that would more-or-less immediately alert the entire pantheon to your presence - first as a subject of interest for having received it, and then if they realize you're more, well... possibly the subject of outright divine action.

That aside, this is also a template that can be lost - if the host dies, the celestial leaves, and you'd have to specifically work at getting it back. ^^ That will be enforced if you choose to take this template.

I was curious if it could work as your Herald, All gods have a herald. Was thinking about down the line as well. Either some celestial sees the potential and becomes your herald blessing you or b/c they are pretty much immortal, at least when it comes to aging, your old herald may one day remember you? Just looking around the only template I'm planing on taking still is Half-Celestial As Hadran was an angel before he ascended. My plan for this is probably 5th level. When we hit 5th I won't level and just burn all 3 level for the template.

Woke up vomiting and couldn't get back to sleep so I finished Hadran. Should be good to start now. Just went guardian will probably dual path into Trickster, maybe champion this way I have time to think about it. So ready to start whenever you are GM.

As far as Celestial-Blessed goes, the entity in question is quite literally inside you - which would make Herald work just a bit difficult. XD Tedious but possible, I suppose - and it's not so much that they don't remember you as they can't remember you. This is part of the curse affecting your characters.

That aside, I hope you feel better soon. ^^

This works out nicely for me, for one must not accept the judgement of others if he cannot judge himself.

And Ashe? Sure on the Highlander thing. I think I can make that work on my end. Also, eat stuff that's easy on your stomach. Campbell's stuff is perfect. (sorry, used to work at a hospital. old habits kicking in. haha)

We apologize for the inconvenience and inanity. She apparently is pouring on the "ditz" act, for some reason. You may go back to your previously scheduled gaming and feel free to discuss or ignore at your option.

Male Agathion (Leonal) Gestalt Monk-Paladin (with bardic performance!); Mythic (dual): Archmage/Heirophant

By the way, if anything in the above bothers you, I earnestly apologize; it's in the spirit of comradery and enjoyment. Mostly, I'm just saying that I'm enjoying your story and your character. It's really cool. The rest is just silly joking around on my part in-character.

To be clear, I'm the poster who made the Herald of All post. I'm following your stories because your characters are cool concepts.

If it helps to clarify things, "H'ecks-pha-czu'whaugh" and "Heksfazia" are two sides of the same character. She'll be switching forms a lot, and have slightly different personalities with the different forms. That said, though she's not an outsider, if you do ever get the chance to summon or call her, that'd be pretty funny awesome. She is not in your game at all.

Also, she very much so pretends to be less intelligent than she is. Helps people underestimate her and enables her to manipulate them more. She's also a shapeshifter, hence her final line.

If you're interested in out-of-character discussions, I would be! I love the dual connections to Saranrae: both your own (her love) and the Raven Queen's. Pretty interesting, honestly, and fascinating to watch. It's also fascinating because both you and Sevia had their relationship changed with the advent of Rovagug, though not directly through said qlippoth god's actions, but rather just in how it changed perspectives and ideals.

Further, as a big fan of Forgotten Realms, it's really interesting to see someone else's take on a newly reborn Tyr-who-is-not-Tyr. Geeking out over it, really.

If I'm at all annoying, please let me know: it's not at all my intent.

I'm really looking forward to following your progress, unless you'd rather not, and I'd have a blast chatting with you about it on occasion, if you'd like. Either way, have great gaming, and God bless you! :D

Hey, guys: I was hunting for my own character when I cam across this thing and thought it might be worth suggesting to both you and/or the Raven Queen. :D

Rednal since the ACG came out now I would like to take the cross blooded archetype I will be mixing Destined with Celestial. This will let me get the wings I wanted for the angel theme. It won't be until level 12 but thats ok. By doing this I won't be thinking about taking half celestial any more. I still would like to pursue the Celestial Blessed template, but we can also bump it up to a CR +2 instead of the +1 listed since it is pretty powerful. Still trying to work up a dude for you RoTRL game. Let me know if the above is cool thanks.

You get experience when you should be getting it. ^^ Don't worry about that - I am keeping track of it.

As for archetypes... as it turns out, you're still first level! Which, in this case, means that retraining is free - you can apply that change the next time you rest for 8 hours.

As for Celestial-Blessed, the issues with that template are plot-related. It would essentially be announcing your divinity to the entire pantheon... and will most certainly stir gods into action. ^^ Just something to keep in mind.

Think that was everything. I was thinking the haunted could be visions of his past faiures that caused him to fall. So even though he is on the path of redemption and regaining his power he still is haunted by his failures and lost love.

Oh I had to trade a trait out. I realized I had 2 campaign traits, in finding a friend/kin, and defender of the society. Defender of the society is also a combat trait if you are a fighter, but I am not. It was a campaign trait in Shattered Star and anyone could take it regardless of class. I replaced it with Blade of Mercy. Shoulc come in handy when trying to subdue targets in the future.

Looks mostly good - but I'd like you to double-check your saves. Bard 2 should have you at +3 Will, so you shouldn't be getting anything from Oracle 1 there. Class aspects that overlap (including BAB and saves) are not cumulative for gestalt characters.

I was just curious!

Silver Crusade

Wait wait wait...you're running 16 campaigns? O.o

No, I'm only running about six of them. I'm a player in the rest. XD

Ah...gotcha. How long have you been playing dnd related games and what got you started?

HP: 174/174(188/188 Rage) -4CHA Checks in Abyss [MP 9/9 ][LP 2/2][Rage 23/23][Perform 28/28][Trance 8/8]| AC: 24, T: 19, FF: 24 | DR 5/Evil: Pro. Evil | Fort: 19, Ref: 19, Will: 15 | CMB: +15, CMD: 26 | Init: +16, Percep: +19:

Hey Rednal, yeah I know there not cumulative, you take the best bonus offered at level up though right so like when you so bard to adds +1 to will where the new oracle level adds +2 to will or is that wrong. If so I have made every gestalt character I ever made wrong. Saves are the only place I know this gets fuzzy with level dipping and what not and taking the right levels at the right time you can get some good saves. Just let me know :) Will save will be a 9 if it is the Bard +1

@Hadran: The rules could be a bit clearer... but as was pointed out in another thread, somebody could do a Level 1 fighter/wizard, then do wizard/sorcerer at every level afterwards and basically end up with double the will save they were supposed to have, completely breaking the system. Gestalt is a high-powered variant, but not that high. XD You're not taking a +1 from the Bard at level-up - you're taking the +3 (total) increase.

@Dunmuir: Not all that long, really. XD I think my earliest exposure was a couple of Forgotten Realms books, but I never actually played the game until relatively recently - mostly, I just like Pathfinder's ability to be creative with storytelling, and I got Hero Lab to aid me with creating characters for fun. Kind of got sucked in from there.

Thats good to know, I have been doing it wrong when making higher level gestalt.

Silver Crusade

My dad got the 1.0 pamphlet when it first came out, and half way through high school, I introduced my friends to 3.0. We've gone through 3.5, and then transitioned over to Pathfinder once we saw where dnd was going. A couple of my friends have tried 5.0, though, I still prefer pathfinder. There's more of an emphasis put on actually character identity rather than "the one build to rule them all." Hell, I remember the days of Pun-Pun back on the giant in the playground boards...that was scary...(shivers).

Do you have a main at all, or someone you see as your signature character? Mine would have to be a cross between two.

Lore, my paladin, a little hotheaded, but he wields his magical kite shield into battle and gets the job done.

Tammerin is a misunderstood...well...demon summoner. He summons the nether to help the good. Kinda backwards logic, I know, but hey, it works. The only gripe I've been handed about that was when there was something I was trying to do but it was too complicated and not described in the rules, so, we just kinda dropped it. Think imps building a tower, and keeping them all in check.
