Calistria. Also, try to note what you're trying to Sunder - most people go for weapons, but it's not unknown for PCs to try and hit holy symbols, armor, or whatever else an NPC has that might be vexing...

And Beseth, don't forget to keep your quick-reference bar up to date. One thing you definitely don't want to do is forget your damage, then realize at a critical moment you're about to go down. XD PbP is slow, so staying on top of that definitely helps.

Without hesitation, the woman snapped her whip out at Hadran, trying to trip him and throw off his attempt at breaking things.

Trip: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (5) + 4 = 9

It was nowhere close to successful, though, and Hadran's blade cut right through the whip. Beseth's spikes caught on her armor a moment later, but she managed to follow through with slamming her light shield right into the other woman's face. A small lens popped out of the woman's eye, revealing that the two were mis-matched in color - a common sign of changelings. Snarling slightly, she focused on the symbol again... and this time a disc of crackling black energy appeared a few inches off of her arm, held out towards the two of you. "Even if I don't get revenge on you for this, my goddess will." she spat out.

"Revenge is not yours to have in this case, as you are keeping me from what is rightfully mine, Vengeance is on my side." Beseth cries out as she smashes her spiked shield at the creature once more, letting the rage overwhelm her for the last moment before it will subside next round.

Hadran continues by stepping to the side 5' to start to surround the woman. He then begins his own dance before attempting to knock the woman unconscious.

Flatt of the blade: 1d20 + 17 ⇒ (9) + 17 = 26

Damage: 2d6 + 18 ⇒ (4, 3) + 18 = 25 w/Arcane Strike Non Lethal.

This time, Beseth's spikes were rather more accurate, and they punched straight through several of the links in the changeling woman's mail. Hadran's blow came down on her a moment later - and with that kind of heavy hit, she crumpled to the ground, consciousness gone. The Barrow Hound shuffled in a moment later, looking interested - Dax was still back with Midfoviing, who was keeping the little Mephit far from harm.

Hadran bends down to check her vitals. He then takes the holy symbol from her grasp.

"Well she does seem to draw power from Calistria. We should tie her up until we feel she is not a threat. I will work on that. Go on examine the machine. I noticed you haven't stopped staring at it."

After securing the woman Hadran leans her up sitting against a wall. He looks to the hound and pats it on the head giving it some reassurance and a good scratch behind the ears.

In Sylvan "You did good boy. Your a good boy aren't you. Do you want to come with us?

He stands and calls out to Midfoviing: "Midfoviing how do you feel about this guy. I would hate to leave him here all alone."

Midfoviing peeked out from behind the wolf, holding onto Dax as the mephit squirmed, clearly a bit worried about having been so close to a fight. "Um... I'd send him home." she eventually noted. "I don't think most of the fey here showed up because they wanted to be here. If he goes back to the First World, he'll be in his home territory and can go do whatever he wants."

Beseth:
As you dig through the machines, more than a few vines bar your way - but you're finally able to rip them aside. There, floating in the middle of the machine, is a crystal shaped like an icicle. It pulses brightly as you look at it, wanting, needing to get closer to you and become whole. There's no stopping yourself - its identity is unmistakable, and you could no more resist its call than deny everything that makes you who you are. Just seeing it throws your condition into stark relief - you're broken, and won't be whole until you've regained all that was lost.

Beseth has acquired the divine ability [Divine Shield]. Prerequisites: Cha 29. Benefit: As a free action costing 1 Mythic Power (+1 for every prerequisite you do not meet), the deity can create a shield that lasts 10 minutes and protects the deity’s body and equipment from attacks. The shield stops 10 points of damage per rank. Once the shield stops that much damage, it collapses. The damage can be from any source. Once you've paid the cost in a day, you can use this ability a number of times equal to 3 + your Constitution modifier. The count is reset each time you rest for 8 hours (you cannot pay the cost before bed and wake up the next day with shields ready to call). Notes: The deity can adjust the shield so that it does not block damage the deity ignores anyway, such as from Damage Reduction or Energy Resistance. The effects of multiple divine shields do not stack. Remember that Mythic Tier and Divine Rank are functionally interchangeable terms, and mean the same thing, and that not meeting prerequisites does not stop you from using divine abilities, it just increases the cost.

As Beseth grabbed the crystal, power surged into her body - and the entire chamber was momentarily filled with blinding energy. In the backwash of all that energy, you could feel yourselves feeling stronger, more capable than you'd been when you first arrived here.

Congratulations, you've both leveled up and acquired your next Mythic Tier. As always, please post summaries of your choices in the discussion thread for approval BEFORE updating your profiles, just so I can check things over and verify them. ^^ Also, Hadran, your Battle Sense ability has improved - in addition to its cost being lowered to 1 MP, it now lasts until the next time you rest for 8 hours. Please update its text in your alias accordingly.

The power of the crystal enveloping her, Beseth takes a moment to recollect herself, as the blinding light fades away.

The half elf was still incomplete, but she felt closer to herself then she had in a long time. Beseth turned around to face the others, taking up her shields off the ground she looks over the changeling on the ground.

"What should we do with her?" She wondered, the changeling had vowed to take revenge on Beseth, and honestly she had little issue with letting her try, but she could become annoying if not dealt with properly.

He looks to Midfoviing

"I think you are correct we should send him home. We should continue our search here. Perhaps there is a portal or gate still open. Do you agree Beseth."

He stands and throws the woman over his shoulder.

Before Beseth could respond, there was a loud groaning from the rocks around you. Nothing fell, but there was definitely noise. Midfoviing's tail flicked back and forth a few times as Hadran agreed with her. "Um, we didn't see any portals on the way here... maybe, like, some kind of priest could do a banishing?" she suggested.

"What was that?" Beseth asks, looking around for the source of the noise. "If we're going to continue our search, perhaps we should do so quickly."

From just this chamber, it's impossible to be totally sure - but the machine is clearly winding down now that its power source has been removed, and the magic had some kind of an effect over all this time. It's possible that the added energy has helped support the place - or perhaps its removal is simply causing the rocks to shift a little bit.

"Are we finally getting out of here?" Dax asked, looking a little relieved to be getting further from Midfoviing. Apparently, the mephit was still nervous about the girl, who... well, in fairness, usually came across as barely civilized. It wasn't hard to imagine Midfoviing running through an icy tundra, cheerfully hunting mammoths for food or something.

The way out is much easier than the way in - although there are more than a few wide eyes when others see the Barrow Hound, and Dax (who, honestly, looks a bit devilish to the untrained - red skin, bits of fire, all very devil-like) got even more. Still, it didn't take long to soothe things over - and at least this time you were able to head out the front gates.

It took another week of hiking through the woods to get back to town (though there weren't many complaints - the slaves were quite happy to be free). The Barrow Hound and Dax stayed outside of town, and Forest Marshal Weslen Gavirk wasted no time at all in seeing you once you returned, hearing out your story of what had happened, then listening to the slaves as they corroborated your story. He was a man of his word, too - and immediately wrote out a receipt for 2400 GP from the local military treasury, which was paid in full. By the time all was said, and done, it was getting quite dark out, and Midfoviing yawned widely.

"Okay!"

...Apparently it was that easy. (Although Beseth's relationship with Hadran probably helped. Midfoviing seemed to greatly favor him, but if you were part of the group, she'd come along and help when asked.)

As for sending the Barrow Hound back, it seemed that services of that level were indeed available here in Nirmathas' capital - at the standard rates for spellcasting, of course. Some coin and fifteen minutes (for spell preparation) would see it done.

As it turns out, there is an academy of magical learning in the city - it's the capital of Nirmathas, after all. The problem is Dax's reluctance to become anyone else's familiar, given what happened to their last one... you'll have to be rather convincing if you'd like to leave them here (although being with a student would almost certainly keep Dax safe for quite a few years).

It is a noble cause and I think it would do you well to serve another master. One that could teach you courage. What you experienced was terrible but you must use it to grow strong. Bad things happen to all of us. What makes up a person's character is how they choose to act when these things happen. Show strength. He looks to the priest with the reassurance he sees forming in Dax's eyes.

"We will not need to send this one home. I think he will choose to serve another. Thank you for your help."

Hadran then escorts Dax to the academy assuming the above roll worked. He then will head to the inn to have dinner with Beseth and Midfoviing and see if they heard any rumors of gossip.

Dax nodded slowly, looking a little awed at how well your thoughts had been put together. You probably weren't going to have to worry about the little mephit anymore, and Dax gave a small wave as you left.

Back at the inn?

"People were talking about me." Midfoviing said cheerfully. Which... was neither helpful nor surprising, really. She was fairly unusual, even for Golarion.

That, and nobody made a Gather Information roll. XD

People were indeed talking about Midfoviing, it made it difficult to get them to talk about much of anything else, but Beseth could be persuasive at times, that much was certain.

Luckily, this seemed like one of these times, perhaps with a little effort she could find someone who knew something that could help them reunite with more of themselves.

Of course, it probably also wouldn't be a bad idea to have somewhere to sleep for the night.

Hours of Chatting: 1d4 ⇒ 3

It was quite late by the time Beseth had finished up (though fortunately, she'd been able to do so while Hadran saw to the spellcasting and getting Dax a new friend).

Of course, finding fragments of divine souls generally wasn't quite as easy as simply asking around for them... but there were a few interesting rumors you'd heard.

In one, something seemed to be happening in an old Thassilonian temple, off the coast of Varisia. Details were scarce, but it sounded of at least moderate interest. There were also rumors of something happening down towards Cheliax (and people discussing those had a distinctly nervous tone, given the empire's status), but something might well happen if you traveled down the coastline.

Of course, the fragments of your souls could be anywhere, and if neither of these felt like something you wanted to follow up on, you could always journey elsewhere in the world to look for further clues.

"Ships are fine, as long as we don't get trapped in ice again. I was hungry." Midfoviing said, her tail flicking back and forth.

Requests for work were met with flat refusal - the locals clearly did not like Cheliax, and most weren't interested in going anywhere near there. However, a few kinder individuals did sketch out a route - traveling north to the border with Lastwall, then west across the rivers towards Korvosa. From there, catching a ship headed south would be easy.

(Going overland was also possible, but more difficult, given the mountains in the way.)

Long-distance transport was cheap by the mile, but added up - after various haggling and negotiating, you managed to figure out a route that equaled about 300 GP per person - having to loop around was the shortest actual route, but added quite a few miles to the trip. Given that you were going to a fair bit of time at sea - several weeks at the very least - it might be possible to find ways to occupy your time...

Anything you'd like to do along the way besides sail?

Last air bender is good, I haven't watched any of the life of Kora.

Hadran will share the story of finding Midfoviing with Beseth. He will pass the time by fishing and talking with the crew about things that have happened in the world and their lives and any rumors they many have heard being sailors.

It is, especially if you like anime and eastern culture, even though it's American.

Beseth will listen to Hadran's story and give him pointers on how to improve his storytelling. Because Hadran's performance skill is Comedy and Beseth's is Oratory, lol.

Comedy and Dance, so you get an interpretive dance of the action as well as jokes :)

The voyage was a fairly long one - almost sixty days had passed since you first got onto a boat in Nirmathas, and during that time you'd moved across Varisia and down the coast to the Hellmouth Gulf of Cheliax. Long trips could be... tiresome. The occasional bit of bad weather was a welcome relief simply because of the change, though that's not to say the whole voyage was boring. Indeed, sailors were used to finding ways to pass the time, and between the two of you entertainment was available in plenty.

(Midfoviing was entertaining, too, but in a different way... though she did manage to catch quite a lot of fresh fish to eat, the young whale was a bit much even for her. Fortunately, it was put back before anything too terrible happened to it...)

Ships and sailors tend to avoid Hellmouth Gulf for good reason. Sharp rocks jut from the waves all along its inhospitable coastline, like the gaping maw of some foul beast. A rough road runs the length of the coast, providing a safer choice for those averse to traveling across the sea. That would've been nice if you were actually on the road, but perhaps it was for the best that you weren't.

On the first morning after entering the region, a low fog hangs along the water, refusing to release its grip in the pervasive gloom of an overcast morning. The surf crashes against nearby cliffs as you sail past, and the cold wind carries a spray of fine mist. But then a cry of distress rings out over the briny current! Shouts of pain echo as a fisherman in an old rowboat wields a single broken oar against an enormous crab. He's clearly aiming to reach a small inlet not too far away, and you could see the sailors moving over to the side - but the wind was pushing them away from the old man, and the rocks further towards him were too dense to safely steer the ship through anyhow.

The fisherman is about 150 feet away from you right now, and will get further away each turn.

"Midfoviing. We need your wings. Can you fly with him? knock the crab off and tow his boat toward us if you will."

He draws his shot bow and calls on the blessings of divine fortune to guide his shot.

[ooc]Draw bow and cast divine favor. Need a long bow this thing is far away.

At Hadran's command, Midfoviing crouched down, then took off running. Given the shortness of the deck (well, in comparison to flight speed, at least), she didn't have to travel long at all before jumping into the air and arcing over.

A few moments later, she dropped down from the sky, one foot extended outwards for a high-speed kick.

Unarmed Strike (vs Crab): 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 27

The boat tilted halfway into the water as she crashed into the creature and knocked it into the water. ...Not one to do things by half-measures, that girl. Even as she struggled with the one, however - the water didn't seem to be helping her out much, and that didn't seem to be the only crab there...

It's not clear whether or not she'll be able to handle all of them herself...

Daughter's sick, would've posted sooner otherwise.

"What the heck is that thing!" Beseth cries out as the crab appears, though she becomes even more surprised to find that there's more then one of the creatures.

Taking out her bonded shield, Beseth injects magic into it, causing it to change shape, transforming it into a longbow. However, in doing so, Beseth quickly realizes she has no arrows. "Does anyone have any arrows so I can shoot that THING" She cries out to the sailors.

I was trying to find something more useful to transform Beseth's shield into with Transform Shield but I believe a bow is the only way I can actually hit the creature.

Additionally, I have a few questions about using the spell Transform Shield: The spell says that I can "transform the shield into a...weapon...of your choice with a volume and mass no greater than the shield and of any material of your choice (that you have touched before)." while I assume that I have no issues transforming a 20lb shield into a 3lb composite bow, am I able to transform it into a composite bow which best suits Beseth's Strength score? Additionally, focusing on the any material part, would I be able to make a non-wooden bow and still have it function? (Beseth is after all a Metal Oracle) Finally, am I correct in assuming that when I transform the shield it maintains it's magical (and legendary) properties, meaning it's still a +1 weapon?

"Midfoviing, pull or push the boat toward us. We will shoot the crabs. Be on your guard."

The thing looks like... a giant grab. Definitely not a normal species (although not necessarily totally unnatural, either...), and probably not too hard to strike if you could actually manage to hit them.

Success Rate?: 1d20 ⇒ 7

Meanwhile, Midfoviing seemed to be floundering in the water as the crabs (plural, now - another one had joined in) attacked her. With those distractions, it didn't look like she was going to be able to pull the boat towards you. If you wanted to help, you were probably going to have to go after her yourself.

"This is no good. I'm not good with a bow. We are too far away and they are attacking her. I'm going after them."

With that Hadran drops his bow and jumps into the water.

Swim Check: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24

...You planning to join Hadran or stay on the ship, Beseth?

Considering no one gave her any arrows...

Without any arrows, Beseth lets her transformed shield change back into a shield since she had no arrows to fire from the bow and then follows Hadran into the water, shield still in hand.

Swim: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19

Fortunately, the water around here isn't too bad, and the two of you are able to make some headway. A few of the sailors, behind you, quickly loaded some things onto a few pieces of wood secured together and tossed the whole thing into the water as the ship continued to sail away, unable to fight the wind. Midfoviing broke the surface a moment later, continuing to wrestle with the crabs.

It'll technically take several turns to swim close enough, but I think we can fast-forward through that bit. XD Assume you're able to get into range of your companion, the boat, and the crabs.
