Makallun'abad sighs, crossing his arms as he stands behind the others. "Can we at least get out of this hallway?" he grumbles under his breath.

The mercenary just stared at Beseth. "...Do you really think I'd spill information like that just because you asked? Privacy is one of the reasons people hire help." he said, his shock momentarily overcoming his fear, though it was equally obvious that he was still more than slightly worried about what was going on here. Things seemed to be spiraling out of control quite quickly, and he had no idea what the end result would be.

"We really should go see what is happening upstairs." Aer'Besethir comments, turning to look at their enemy. "What do you say we suspend this confrontation for now and we all go upstairs together, then if you want to try to kill us again you might at least have an ally."

"Y-you all stay in front!" He said... not that it would have been very easy for him to get ahead of you anyway, given how narrow the hallway was. It was just as clear that he was frightened of turning his back to you.

The Stalwart Peak sighs heavily once more. "Knock him unconscious already. This is not getting us anywhere, and he will surely be more reasonable once he can't point that weapon at us. There certainly must be ways to have his employer leave him be, even if it entails involving the authorities of Absalom."

Hadran moves forward at the mans invitation and starts up the stairs.

It's much easier to get up than it was to get down, and by the time you approach the ladder heading up to the ground floor of the building, you can hear quite a bit of noise from people outside. Unfortunately, you can't quite make out what they're so focused on - you'd have to head outside for that.

As you emerge into the sunlight, things finally start to become clear. A group of onlookers has gathered around the building, but at a safe distance, and you can see some guards in front of them. One of them is closer than the others, protecting a boy that looks to be eight or nine years old. The boy is bleeding from a long gash on his face, and you can see signs of a bruise starting to form around one eye. A man dressed the same as the mercenaries you've been fighting is lying on the ground, and it's fairly obvious why - Midfoviing is kneeling on the ground and bending over him to pin him down, her jaws clamped around his throat and claws hovering just above his belly, ready to stab in. He looks terrified - she just seems angry.

The guards are obviously hesitant to approach, clearly worried about provoking your companion, as she almost seems more animal than human at the moment. The mercenary let out a weak cry as he saw the man with the crossbow come up behind you. "Oh gods, oh gods... help." he whimpered.

"Zeke!" the shooter cried. "D-don't worry, you'll be fine! We won't let her hurt you any more!" His own voice is wavering, though - he's obviously at a loss for what to do, and recoiled slightly as Midfoviing glanced up in his direction, pure hate emanating through her glare.

Midfoviing? What is going on here? Why are you attacking that man?

Hadran's hand again moves to the the pommel of his blade. Fearing the worst that he may need to subdue the girl as he knows little about her.

Very slowly, the girl pulled her mouth back from the man's throat, replacing it with the claws of her hand so she could tear it out at any time. "This monster tried to beat that child and take him hostage." she growled, tail flicking back and forth angrily. "Probably to try and get you to give up and back down after what you did to his friends. I stopped him... but I didn't think you would have liked it if I killed him, so I didn't." That... was quite possibly the only reason the man was still alive.

Makallun'abad nods, moving over to take care of the man. "Let us handle this. You've done well," he assures Midfoviing. Pulling some rope from his satchel, the Earthen Defender will attempt to tie up the mercenary.

Hadran hands glow with a softs blue and white light as he approaches the guard.

"Please let me heal the boy. Has he told you what has happened here?"

The boy cowered slightly as the massive warrior approached, like someone from a storybook instead of real life. After carefully scrutinizing the light around your hands, the guard nodded, allowing you to help the child and seal shut the wound on his face.

Meanwhile, a little further back, Midfoviing slowly allowed Mak to tie up the other man, even as the other guards darted forward now that the immediate hostage situation seemed to have been resolved. The girl spat out a mass of blood from her mouth, looking slightly disgusted, and didn't seem to notice the wide berth she was being given.

Finally, the young boy started speaking. "Th-that man came out of the building, looking panicked." he said, holding onto the guard's armor. "H-he hit me and then he grabbed me, and then she tackled him off of me a-and..." he swallowed nervously. "I-I just want to go home and s-see my mother..." his hands began shaking.

He reads the boy perfectly noticing any hint if the story is false.

I suspect they wanted this boy for a reason, but what. I hope the boy himself is not a threat. Could be a demon or devil in disguise.

"It is alright now. So you were in the wrong place at the wrong time. We will make sure you get home safe. What is your mothers name? How far do you live from here?"

Hadran ask the questions just to make sure the boy is telling the truth about what happened.

"He came out of the building, but everyone in the building was either unconscious and tied up or else they would've had to come through us. Midfoviing, can you confirm that he came out of the building, you were watching the door after all." Beseth seemed slightly confused by this, she knew they had tied up the two men from before, and the third voice presumably belonged to the one who accompanied them up, so where would another have come from?

Midfoviing pointed to the window. "He came out from there." she said.

Meanwhile, Hadran examined the boy particularly thoroughly... and on every level, he seemed to be honest. By all accounts, he'd simply been passing by when the mercenary had decided (possibly on the spur of the moment) to grab him and use him as a hostage.

Hadran thinks for a moment and looks around.

Where is the man that lead us here?

He looks for the man that brought the group here.

The man who originally asked for your help raised a hand and waved a bit as Hadran looked around. He looked faintly nauseous, and kept glancing towards Midfoviing - the red stain around her mouth wasn't entirely reassuring.

The guards, on the other hand, didn't hesitate to grab the man Midfoviing had let go of... and one of them looked back at the building. "Who else is in there? That other fellow ran back in a minute ago..."

Swinging Axe Trap: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17

Wall Scythe: 1d20 + 20 ⇒ (19) + 20 = 39 for Damage: 2d4 + 6 ⇒ (2, 4) + 6 = 12

...and this one came perilously close to decapitating the Lord of Valor as he passed by. Both traps had been tripped, though, and neither was moving back into position, making the passageway safe to traverse. There's no portcullis blocking the way, and heading down the steps is easy enough.

A perpetual thick gray fog covers the floor of this ancient stone room to a height of six inches. Four alcoves extend from a small circular center. The north and south alcoves are lined with ceremonial slabs on which rest skeletal bodies garbed in old finery, the west alcove contains a spiral staircase that winds down from the room, and the east alcove contains only a simply wooden door in the east wall. As you arrived, you hear several raised voices coming from the far side of the room - there are two men dressed similar to the man who'd fired the crossbow at you, and they seem to be arguing with him, clearly not happy with his behavior. They haven't noticed you yet.

Although she did not protest to the creation of such creatures, Aer'Besethir was certainly surprised to see the man resorting to this type of tactics.

Moving towards the skeletons, Beseth strikes one of them with her heavier shield.

+1 Spiked Shield: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (12) + 8 = 201d6 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 +2 to hit if charge is possible.

"These weak creatures will only delay the inevitable."

For Mak, moving towards the enemies was a simple matter, and Beseth moved in the opposite direction to engage the enemies there, smashing straight into one of them with her shield. The undead crowded around each of them, moving to flank on four sides and maximize their potential for violence.

"Now you're helping them!?" the necromancer roared, his face turning interesting shades of red and purple.

"Given how upset our client's going to be... yes."

Round 3

Makallun'abad steps between a pair of skeletons, trying to prevent himself from being circled by the undead. He turns to one of the foes and unleashes a pair of rapid attacks, his stone-plated gloves aimed to crush bone.

Makallun'abad takes a 5ft. step towards the guards, then uses Flick of the Wrist on one of the skeletons (full-round action). If both attacks hit, the enemy is disarmed. He attempts to Push the skelton away with each hit (free action).

Aer'Besethir swings both of her shields at the undead creature that one of the mercenaries is helping her dispatch, she wasn't happy to be helped by such a person, but was glad to see that they were finally willing to see reason. However, reason or no, Beseth's attacks were not as accurate as she might like.

None of the undead had fallen quite yet, though the one Mak had attacked was looking quite damaged by now. Those around Mak stepped forward again, though only two of them managed to get back into a flanking position - the other two were out of alignment, and one turned to lash out at the mercenary who'd decided to help him.

"You will have to do better than that Necromancer."

He lunges forward continuing the assault.

Beseth was overall not impressed by the undead this necromancer was choosing to use, they didn't seem to be doing much of anything, then again, Beseth wasn't doing much better.

After taking a pair of blows - though quickly and easily throwing off the poison dripping from the creatures - Mak pounded straight into one of the skeletons surrounding him, and Beseth managed to strike another with her spiked shield. Weak attacks weren't going to take them down very quickly, though - and perhaps another course of action would be more suitable.

Meanwhile, the man Hadran was fighting shattered as the blow struck him, spreading into jagged pieces that vanished into the air as he reappeared thirty feet back, staggering slightly - some kind of emergency defense, it seemed. He quickly pulled out - and swallowed - a potion of some kind a moment later before bellowing at the Skeletons. "Stop slacking and HIT THEM!" he roared, and the creatures raised their other claws.

Back by the stairs, some familiar white-hair could be seen as Midfoviing peeked in on the brawl. "Um... do you need some help?" she inquired as the undead continued their assault, stepping around to get back into position.

Beseth has been struck by Blood Poisoning - unless she Surges and beats the save, anyway. This poison deals 1 point of Constitution Damage every minute, and can be stopped by casting neutralize poison or remove disease, or by a DC 15 Heal check to treat poison.

The two mercenaries that had joined you, seeing the violence, let out battle cries of their own and resumed their efforts to help you put the undead back to rest.

The eastern undead by Beseth - which all the effort had been concentrated on thus far - stumbled a bit. It probably couldn't endure another blow, but still stood for now.
