Good heavens, I hope Trotter's willing to run multiple tables!
GM Crucible |
A squat goblin loudly swings open the door of the Flaxseed Lodge. The door rebounds hard against the wall and nearly knocks the goblin over as it slams back into his face. He rubs nose, and tries to pretend his entrance was somewhat grander. He carries the faint aroma of gunpowder and rotting leeches. One of his eyebrows appears to have been burned off.
"I have found important record!" he cackles delightedly. "Great history of mighty Licktoad clan. Need four of you smelly lot to act it out." He waves a handful of mismatched papers in his hands, which appear to be crude stick-figure drawings. The top-most page reads, "We Be Goblins."
To pretty much everyone's horror, he begins to sing:
"Goblin story make you mighty!
Sign up now (and not tonighty)
Shoot fireworks and flash of lighty,
Then at end there is big fighty!"
The goblin finishes with a flourish, and waits for applause. After an awkward silence, he adds, "Oh, and no horses. Unless eating lunch."
This is both my PFS and PbP GM debut. (So, players with several ranks in "Forgiveness" only... <wink>.) We will start in a couple of days. Four players will be randomly selected; each gets to pick a different pregen. I will roll selections from those interested in a day or so ... or sooner, if the sign-up sheet fills up quickly.
This event will be reported as CORE, so chronicles will apply to core characters only. This module is Tier 1.
"If no volunteers, I sing again," the goblin threatens.

True Dragons of Absalom is indeed restricted to being run by only 5-star GMs.
That's different - why do they require that?
nightdeath |
According to the product page no factions are favored. In fact, none of the first three season 7 scenarios set to be released this week have factions listed so I am wondering if we will see yet another change to factions this season.
Also, note that I am running this in "regular" Organized Play mode, not Core mode (although I might run a Core version later).
Just a question, Can those scenarios be runned before Gen Con?
thunderspirit wrote:True Dragons of Absalom is indeed restricted to being run by only 5-star GMs.That's different - why do they require that?
Probably because they wish to make it exclusive. I'm only 4-star need about 15 more games of so.

What makes it so special, though?

1 person marked this as a favorite. |
True Dragons of Absalom is designed to be a special reward for 5star GMs. I'm sure I'll end up running at least 1 pbp game of it although I'm sure the demand will be much larger than I'm able to take in.
There are also some sandboxy elements and potential alignment issues which are best entrusted to the campaign's most experienced GMs.

Apologies, Baerlie, but my correct level characters are all occupied at the moment. That never seems to happen except now, unfortunately. Bring Balacertar up to take my spot, please.
GM Crucible |
The goblin, somewhat surprised he hasn't yet been forcibly removed from the Flaxseed Lodge, beings another song.
"See four on list for goblin heroes,
If more sign up from all you zeroes,
I random pick from list tomorrow,
Then I break their bones and suck their marrow..."
"... I mean, go on fun adventure..." he finishes lamely.
Four have signed up for the four slots, so I will close sign-ups in about 16 hours. If you want a chance to play, I'll randomly select from those on the list around lunch time tomorrow (Eastern US). This is for a "core" PFS run of We Be Goblins (T1). (Core won't make the module change, just that the chronicle will only apply to core characters.)

Whoopie! I won a lottery! One that doesn't involve getting rocks thrown at me, even!
I'm Hiding In Your Closet |
Separate question: Let's say I have a character with 5 Chronicles, but 2 were never reported; would it be haram for me to throw those 2 away and pretend they never happened so that I could rebuild the character as a 'fresh' level 2, as well as be eligible for playing those Scenarios in the future for credit?

Now there's a literary reference I haven't heard in almost 25 years. Well done.
Although, if there *were* stones involved, it might open up a space ...
I'm Hiding In Your Closet |
That was one of the many plays I was in in high school. I was Cranky Old Guy (I've played a lot of old guys over the years for some reason, despite my youthful-leaning looks....).

The annoying goblin sings for what you hope is the last time:
"Here's the list make no mistake:
'Luke_Parry', 'Gerald', and 'The_Lake',
Join 'Great Green God', let's go, post haste!
And at the end there will be cake!"
He's barely finished before a large bouncer picks him up and throws him out the door.
Thanks to
(1) Great Green God
(2) Gerald
(3) Luke_Parry
(4) The_Lake
for taking a chance on me. Please check in for some goblin fun.

No, I would say that's not the way to do it. Even if they never got reported through Paizo, they still happened. The paper trail is the most important; if you've played long enough you are guaranteed to have problems with the electronic reporting, as it is rife with problems.
My first suggestion is to contact the GM(s) who didn't report their games or the event organizer and remind them to report it. They may have just forgotten. If you really don't like that character, you can retrain just about everything except their race and stats by paying a little prestige and gold.
I'm Hiding In Your Closet |
What if I don't even like that, and it's all kind of a traffic accident otherwise (including some of said DMs ceased DMing and disappeared off my radar, and one of them having literally died)? Is there some way to say a character never happened and hopefully "clean off" the number (admittedly, some of my desire for that may just be OCD)?

Unfortunately no. You can always just choose not to play that character again but that number is now tied to that character after 2nd level. You can delete the character but then the number will disappear forever and you'll just skip a number in your list of characters.
DM Beckett |
I'd like to give this a try, so for all the players interested in playing during the PbP Game Day 4, (not including the special/exclusive) with an interest in specific scenarios/modules, I've created a thread with the intent of making a sort of wish list.
Please, only favorite the games you would really like to play in or make your own suggestions.

A wisp of flame and smoke enters through the keyhole, drifts over to the center of the room, and forms into a humanesque figure. "I am looking for four brave souls, willing to delve the depths of a keep located in the River Kingdoms. There will be great rewards.. should you survive. Do I have any takers?"
Looking to run Thornkeep: The Enigma Vaults. This is for levels 3-5, and I am looking to field a table of 5 or 6. Two spots are reserved, and if I have more than 4 interested, I will run a lottery. Any takers?
Trotter Flaxseed |
"Eh-hem!" Trotter calls attention to his lodge. "I've got another mission that should interest some of you!"
"A strange confluence of circumstances leaves the researchers of Uringen understaffed and in need of able-bodied assistants. Conveniently, recent Pathfinder Society experiments call for a rare reagent found only in that area, and the two organizations have negotiated a mutually beneficial deal."
"If you're interested in helping out, come see me!"
I'll be starting up 07-02 Six Seconds to Midnight for levels 3-7 this week. Sign up here if you are interested. I will roll a lottery in the next couple days for winners. Thanks and good luck!

Is there something I should know about the Thornkeep adventure as to why it appears to be receiving an uncharacteristically low volume of interest?

Many of us (myself included) just got back from GenCon, so that may have something to do with it.
DM Beckett |
I just don't have the time or the characters for it. I've heard it's a bit more on the brutal side, (might be confusing it with another, though), but not ridiculously so.
Sior |
Emerald Spire - Balanced.
Thornkeep - Tough, sometimes brutal, otherwise fair if you play well. (EDIT- Just recalled my playthrough with a fresh lvl 1 Core character.... yeah, brutal might be a good point. We were lucky mostly, just not when it counted. Definitely want a prepared, balanced party.)
Bonekeep - Hide yo' kids, hide yo' wives, and hide yo' husbands, cause they be killin' errbody roun' here!
Or something to that effect.
GM DevilDoc |
Thornkeep is exceptionally brutal. I've played this lvl myself and it got really ugly.. almost a tpk. That's why I wanted 6 players going in, so that there would be a higher chance of survival. But, the chronicle for this makes it worth it in my opinion, and there is a large amount of gold.. not to mention 3xp and 4 pp

A small monkey scampers into the lodge, leaps to a table, steals a swallow from someone's mug, then hops over to the public board and pins a note to it.
The note reads:
Greetings Pathfinders!
West of the Eye of Abendego, dozens of imposing stone columns known as the Gloomspires rise directly from the ocean. For ages they have remained shrouded in fog that stubbornly resists the strongest winds and magic that causes the columns to shift at random, defying every attempt to count or map them. However, a recent discovery by the Pathfinder Society has revealed a brief opportunity to navigate the columns safely and search for a lost treasure.
Those brave enough to rise to this challenge should seek out Venture-Captain Calisro Benarry of the Arcadian Mariner’s Lodge.
Greetings everyone, DM Rah here!
I'm going to run Scenario #6–06: Hall of the Flesh Eaters (Tier 1-5). My Sign-up sheet is linked above, or here for your convenience.
I already have the following signed up on my sheet:
-Mike Garlington
-nightdeath
-Great Green God
However, I'm not sure when these three put down their names, or if they are still available, so please update your character notes when possible.
Shonne |
Shonne might not be able to appear due to a scheduling conflict, but there's always: Fauxish (flowing monk 1), Nulveilio the Inexplicable (bard (shadow puppeteer) 1), Rilia the Sacred Hetaira (bard 1), or Devil-Hunter Kraww (spirit ranger 1).
Lithrac |
My advice for Thornkeep is to avoid playing it with the minimum level required. For example the first level is tier 1-2 for PFS, I strongly recommend playing it at level 2. Same goes for the third part, which is tier 3-5. Don't play it with level three characters, you'll most probably get butchered.

I'm a big fan of Thornkeep, but yeah, this is totally seconded.

Looks good to me. I think both of the reserved slots are going to end up being paladin tanks so as long as we have a good balance we will be fine.

Paladin yes, tank not so much. Mine is a heavy-hitter. He can take a fair beating, of course, but he's meant for swinging not tanking.
