For all the obscure, archaic languages he's learned, Imix has never learned Tooyah.
I busted up laughing at this. Absolutely hilarious.
Then.... I read the rest of the post D: I wasn't expecting the Sky People to be involved, but the clues BP dropped make sense now.
Absolutely brutal. Let's get the hell out of the Baunti.

Actually, this is Nat being chatty: she's been starved for company and conversation recently.
The Tooyah are fisher-folk: quiet is their normal state of being. Their phrase for endless small talk and gossip that achieves nothing but driving away the fish is "talking Tkoyah."
GM Belicose Poultry |
^ I like it! I'll be using that. Now I've got to give my two Tooyahs in town accents, though, so thanks for that :)
Istiel's mighty will save has caused the Crone to readjust her tactics. Anything else you all want to accomplish in the next three days before embarkation day?
I've got Imix's feast noted, but Ashkesh's no fool. He'll attend but not drink, and he won't be giving away any state secrets.
Istiel |
I was sweating bullets when I rolled that will save. I figured it was some kind of compulsion, and Istiel doesn't get Still Mind until level 4. The problem is, if she tries that every day Istiel will eventually fail a roll.
Hopefully the fact Istiel said she killed Thom makes them believe she did it alone, plus's the will save, makes them think she's more powerful than she really is.
I have nothing else BP. Though a stealth mission to raid Domhnall's study for marital arts manuscripts/herb seeds or herbalism equipment/ sentimental stuff would be cool, I'm not going to hold us up or tempt the dice gods any further (unless you really want to).
I will update our counts of people/what we're taking tonight.
Hopefully Drazen will have time for blood rager retraining?

Waiting for the good Lady's reaction to Cornucopia being destroyed before finishing off the meeting and answering Nat's question. Plus I think Imix would react to the Wo'tah as well.

I live to serve Nat's a particularly rural Tooyah; it might be that the ones in Shadeholme have learned to 'talk proper' - even if it's just in self-defence from being surrounded :P

That's right, just what the GM needs, ideas on how to make life even more difficult for you...
Imix |
Can I ask what accent its based on?
When I read it aloud it sounds aussie to me, but that might be local bias.

I wrestled with three days of will saves. In the end, I the Crone decided not to risk the gains they've made, being suitable impressed/wary of Istiel. Telowo lives... for now.

S'up to you. If you do it, I'll try really hard to not turn it around on you...
No guarantees, though.

He's got three days to add to his training.

Huh. It looks like a post was eaten. I may not get it up again today.

Korya's been in Shadeholme awhile, that may be the case. Perhaps she'll slip back into it when she's around Nat.
Ogwe though, that guy's not even from the stix. I'm going to have to come up with something nearly intelligible.
When I was a kid and went to England. I don't remember the exact context, whether it was a scripted show or an interview, but I recall watching TV and the show had subtitles for a Scottish person... speaking English. Ogwe's going to be kind of like that.
He only even knows Tkoyah because Imix the party never bothered to learn Tooyah.

Generic rural - did any of you read the Redwall books when you were younger? I stole adapted it from the moles, but toned it down some for ease of reading.

Well, to be fair, they are less important.

This is pretty much what myself and Imix do AT LEAST once a week. BP probably has a scratchpad with our rambling or paranoid ideas all over them.
I wrestled with three days of will saves. In the end, I the Crone decided not to risk the gains they've made, being suitable impressed/wary of Istiel. Telowo lives... for now.
YES. I'm adding this one on Istiel's List o' Glory(TM)

Oh man, I REALLY want to because I like it when Istiel does cool things because I like cool things. But...
1) Istiel has already succeeded in a high risk/high reward endeavor by saving Telowo. I should not double down and push my luck.
2)Given the destroyed garden, Domhnall's stuff has probably been ransacked (though they may not know the value of the martial arts manuscripts that I just made up because it sound cool and I like cool things).
3)The Crone is probably staying IN Domhnall's study. Unless she leaves, not a good idea.
4)Istiel's duty is to stay with Telowo, and she wouldn't leave him.
It really pains me to leave useful stuff, but hey... we'll be back one day, hopefully.

I said I was going to give updated travel figures but there isn't as much to update as I expected. Imix's food generation has provided us with some flexibility.
I have one question to pose to you all:
Are you in favor of taking more food, or taking more goods?
Imix is for more goods, I'm fine with our current amount of food/goods (cause I made it).
Imix |
Number of people is weird at the moment
1 Log people
2 Bellet's people
3 Who stays
Those numbers are going to change things a lot.
Let's assume all of #1 comes with.
Hoping the meeting resolved #2.
We try to find out early who is staying for #3.
If 1 doesn't come through (paranoid rambling reveals that wasn't in the final deal explicitly) we're down a lot.
If 2 go to Cornucopia, we're down... 50 warriors? plus an NPC?
3 could be a large number of the able bodied (I reckon they'll need an X like me).
We could be stuck with not many people.
Istiel |
OH S*%%
"Sixth. Barring some mistake in my understanding, and contingent on a comparison of bloodlines, The Lady Bellet is now Heir Presumptive to the throne."...
The Suriname falls to one knee. "Citizens. The King is dead. Long live the Queen."
Imix you glorious bastard. Brilliant. Hat is off to you.
Imix |
You are too kind, Istiel ;P
I was actually putting together an entirely different post when this suddenly occurred to me.
Sadly, I suspect our new plan is 'Suicide Run To Cornucopia', but I have hopes that Bellet might accede to run.
@GMBP: not sure of the state of *cough* reproductive medicine in this world - and in Spheres of Power. Is it possible for Bellet to *cough cough* create an heir?
Incidentally, if you are looking for an out, Bellet can be a poor peasant girl who married for love - and thus not a cousin to the King. Might be a bit of a stretch, but certainly possible. Suggest that might mean that some rando refugee might be second-cousin-twice-removed-to-Baron-somethingorother, and therefore now King.
knowledge:nobility: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22 rough idea of the King's family tree
Question 2: We're not using fate points or anything, are we? I only ask because if we do, I'd happily pay one for an idea I've got straight out of a soap opera.
@All: Anyone sense a republican revolution in the wind?
Nat Oqueva |
IIRC, the King or Queen has to be anointed by the High Priest(ess) before they can rule. Given that the gods have so dramatically with-held their favour from the royal family, Nat's in no hurry to do this.
Casting the remains of the nobility out in the wilderness to do penance for their collective failures, now, you might get her on board with that ;-)
We could be stuck with not many people.
That's fine - the food will last longer. Harsh, but true.
Istiel |
Oh, this exchange between Imix and Nat is stuff of legend. This needs a broadway adaptation.
*munches popcorn*
Imix |
I'm all good with the anointing. Gives PCs more control.
@Nat: Figure these might be things Nat knows, but Imix does not.
Nat Oqueva |
Naira attempted to hide her devastation. Cornucopia, her home more than anywhere else, gone. How was it that they allowed it to be taken siege? Shadeholme she could understand, she reasoned with herself, but Cornucopia? Te Moak? These cities were, well, cities, and closer to the center of the Valley than Shadeholme was. They were supposed to be protected, their people were supposed to be safe.
@Naira: Feel free to ask for more detail! Nat isn't chatty, but she'll answer questions.
@Imix: I figured there's very little written down about Suriname, and lots of contradictory lore. Makes sense that different characters "know" different things about them.

I'll be trying to get it out a bit in the future, but in this moment, I don't think Naira wants to hear the details.
I'll need to try that extension. I usually write everything but my smallest posts in a google document marked "Naira - Active" before posting.

Naira: perfectly understandable; it's just that GMBP went into lavish detail about the fall of Cornucopia - I'd hate for it to be lost just because Nat hoards words like they're goldstones.
I'll get a post up in a bit, once I've worked out Nat's response to Lady Bellet's confession.
GM Belicose Poultry |
Whoops, bad typo - sorry about that folks. These wing dikes, made of stone, are kind of what I'd envisioned the engineers would make.
Naira, you now have a set of masterwork maps - +2 to geography and surival checks about all things Valley. Although you all are leaving it soon, it could always come back into play later.
I should have a bit of time tonight to update further.
Regarding what Nat knows, I can always put it on the wiki too - that may save some time since I've already written it.
Nat Oqueva |

True, but the telling of it - and PC reactions - are part of the fun.
Istiel |
I would like to warn everyone my posting may fluctuate or just plain suck for a while. I have developed an excruciating tooth problem that is preventing me from sleeping more than what seems like a few minutes at a time.
Unfortunately i have a severe phobia of medical needles and a unhealthy dose of dental anxiety, which translates to me having to be tranquilized and then completely anesthetized whenever I need work done on my mouth.
These sessions usually take longer to schedule than regular dentist visits so i don't know how long I'll be like this. The fatigue and anxiety is likely to make me extremely irritable and I apologize if I snap at anyone. Maybe I can find some drugs to fix my problems in the short term. For added fun, over the counter painkillers don't work on me, and come to think of it most anesthetics don't either.
Melodrama summarized: I'll still be trying, but don't expect anything great out of me for a while. Sorry everyone :(

Stuff
Ugh, no worries. Good luck with everything.
Nat Oqueva |
Yup - Nat has two friends tied to the log outside the gates and she wants to check up on them and the rest of the hostages - and stay out of Ashkesh's way, of course
Oios |
Oios has some military type orders to give. He can do it later though. Swamped right now.
Rigel Quicklingfay |
Oios pinches his nose. He found himself surprised to be missing Rigel. If anyone would had been able to undermine Ashkesh at his own game it would have been her.
Nuh-uh, nothing doing, honey: there's corrupt; and then there's ... forsaken .
Trust Nat. She's a bit tedious, but at least she knows what you're up against.
Plus she's alive, of course. Big plus.
Oios |
Noted.
Oh man, you guys are waiting on me aren't you? Can't do anything till tomorrow!
Istiel |
No problem BP.
We're about to have an EPA inspection at my work so I understand!
Imix |
Assuming there was no feast last night, in the end? Bellet was going to help, and Imix went to get food.
I'm okay to work with "It was late and it fell through".
GM Belicose Poultry |
Sorry, Imix, I didn't realize that you'd intended to have the feast that night. For some reason, I thought it would be later, like your last day or something.
We'll say it is put on Goz 28.
Still getting hammered at work, had to go in today. I'm beat, but will have tomorrow off, and will update then.
Thanks for the patience!
Nat Oqueva |
I've slightly lost track of the timeline - Nat was going to tend the prisoners still chained outside, and then go to the meeting but I'm not sure what's when?
