Istiel - remember you were going to drop by the Triage for a heap of' healin'. Reckon you can hold off for now?
Istiel |
Oh yeah, the hit points could use a little top off. Ah well, too late now, there are yams to move.

I will likely be missing from action here starting tomorrow and likely through Sept 3rd-ish as I am on holiday to the middle Americas. Enjoy!

^ Nice! I love the middle Americas! Where you headed to, Drazan?
Things are much more hectic than I had imagined they would be. We've got 2400 sq ft of house packed up, but still have to get some things fixed so our house can go on the market in a timely manner. Sorry for the slowness, I hope to get something up tomorrow. Normalacy will return after the 3rd.
Istiel |
No problem BP, take your time and get settled.
I started looking for a house today myself. I live two blocks from a street lined with beautiful houses overlooking a bluff, and drive past them every day to work. I made the mistake of actually looking at the prices of the ones on sale...
Let's just say I'm not going to be living in a restored 1890 Whiskey Baron's mansion any time soon.
Istiel |
Heading off on vacation- Boundry Waters, MN canoeing trip. Will return on Sept 7th.
BP, I'm hoping Istiel will have punched at least one thing when I return. Won't hold you to it, but it would be nice, you know.
Even a rotten yam would be fine.
Oios |
No worries. Have fun Isitel. Good luck with the move DM.

Good timing on your part, just started a job so I won't be able to post much until things settle down a bit, probably around the same time as you ;)

I have returned from holiday in Costa Rica. Best part was the horseback riding up a mountain, talking at howler monkey family, and zip-lining upside down. Worst part is a toss up between nearly getting robbed and stabbed or the serious infection in my left foot from a mysterious bug bite. Seems my timing was perfect though here. I'll be catching up progressively though the week on a bunch of stuff so apologies if I'm slow in responses.

OK, I got the internet/computer up and running tonight, did some work on a journal article, and caught up on some games. I'll get us moving again tomorrow night after work. Thanks again for your patience!

The midwest has a lot of really beautiful housing. You could take the path that we took - buy a house that needs a lot of work. We got a 2400 sq foot three story 1898 brick home with original millwork in a trendy neighborhood for about half the price of what they were going for when we bought it. But the downside is, if you move, you've got to wrap up all those projects you've started and not finished in a little amount of time.

Glad that you had [mostly] fun! I've lived in and travelled to much of Central / South America but haven't made it to Costa Rica yet. I hope to get down there soon. Any recommendations would always be appreciated!

Looks like the move is almost completely successfully taken care of. Congrats!

I have also returned, no injuries and only good memories. Roughed it for 4 days on the Boundary Waters in Michigan, island hopping on canoes. Absolutely beautiful country, I wish I could live in the middle of those lakes.
Trip highlights:
Saw the Aurora Borealis in person. What an indescribable majesty of lights and shapes. It was frankly a spiritual moment for me, I have never seen something so breathtaking in my life. The locals we were with said seeing them in the summer is incredibly rare, so I'm in awe of my luck.
Red squirrels. I love squirrels, but had only been exposed to the grey and fox squirrels of the midwest. The red squirrels of the north are something special though. They're so small, cute, angry, and territorial it's hilarious. I was filtering water one day when one ran up to me within 10 feet, got out top of a rock, lifted itself to its hind legs, chittered triumphantly, then ran up next to my foot to grab a pine cone and before skittering off into the woods. I guess it showed me who's in charge!
I think this was the same squirrel that sat and watched me use the bathroom for a full three minutes. He just came down a tree 10 feet away, sat down on a rock and started eating pine nuts while staring at me...
Also saw minks, otters, beavers, ruffled grouse, yellow-bellied sap suckers, hummingbirds, GORGEOUS loons, and a bald eagle family (dad, mom, and one juvenile) all in close proximity. They really didn't seem to care about humans at all, and typically just watched us go by or did their own thing while we watched.

Thank you! I think things should be settled enough for me to resume pretty regularly. Still have contractors and a house sale to manage from afar, but things have quieted down nicely. I'll probably be updating at night for a while, as I haven't figured out the lay of the land with computer usage at work yet.

I have a good friend who in college spent every summer as a camp councilor in the Wisconsin boundary waters. It is pretty much his favorite place in the entire world.
I have yet to see the Aurora Borealis. My general dislike of cold weather means it will probably be a while.
Red squirrels.
Cool. Olney, Illinois, has white squirrels, which I gather are pretty rare. I've never seen them either.

That's awesome. It is a great birding spot down here on the border, with lots of parkland set up along the Rio Grande. We're talking about getting out for a hike tomorrow. Sounds like a great trip, Istiel!

Not sure how many healable wounded there are here, nor how long the viewing will take. Want to wait for Oios, but am worried that the viewing might take hours we don't have.
Much of the day has been eaten up by ceremony and then the second viewing, debriefing of the healers, etc. It is now afternoon.

I've been to Olney, and the white squirrels there are interesting. They're not albino, but mostly grey squirrels with white fur and the usual black eyes.
There are black squirrels too, which are actually common grey squirrels expressing an old phenotype. Most of "grey squirrels" in the eastern US used to be black because all of the virgin forest used to be so thick it was not advantageous to be black for camouflage purposes. As the forests were cleared the squirrels took on a grey color to be better adapted to the higher light levels.
ANYWAY
I'm assuming Istiel found nothing. Going to grab some javelins and meet up with Oios (alternatively our posse can just pick up Istiel and Naira at the warehouse as you're making rounds before looking for Rigel)
Naira, Aquan Architect |
Working IT at a College now. Nothing too fancy, but I do genuinely love taking calls and troubleshooting technology issues.
Granary calculations shouldn't take too long for Naira so long as it is organized in any fashion.
Istiel |
Correction: I meant to say it WAS advantageous for the squirrels to be black due to the thick forest growth, mostly the canopy.
That's what I get for being in a hurry and not proofreading.
The more I think about it the more I believe Oios and Imix should pick up Istiel and Naira on their patrol before heading to the grove. Seems more natural that way.
Imix |
I like Istiel's plan.
Can I throw in the idea we get Tex, Istiel and the engineers with the idea of checking out how hard it would be to turn the silkwood forest into a vegetable patch? And secretly talking about the plan to run far from prying (potentially skinwalker) eyes.
Oios |
Also I'm thinking that Oios has just baited the trap. Is it reasonable for a 'ceremonial pool' to be outside and a 'leadership ceremony' to be a well known ritual where a new leader is alone and unarmed/unarmoured?
Oios |
Might be good for Drazan to head towards the warehouse also?
Drazan of Peklenc |
Having problems posting anything longer than a sentence for some reason...

I guess we do what Oios says, but I didn't think he'd have an issue

Have you attempted to clear your cache/cookies on your browser? I was having some wonky posting things going on once and that helped me out.
Istiel |
Haha, yeah, Istiel might have unknowingly implied that Imix was behind Oios' appointment to the leader of Shadeholme. Oops. I mean, she was just truthfully answering Tex's questions...
Istiel took 3 javelins and some thistle from the warehouse (she really wants this tea).
Oios |
I figured Imux being cold blooded would have noticed the temperature changes too :)
Istiel |
Cooooooool
What an awesome visual. I need one in my house for Halloween.
BP- I wanted to inform you I am reviving Vallen for another Campaign- Space Dwarves. Except this time he gets a shotgun.
Going to play it off like he was rescued from our little continental foray with Nerk, you can't get better backstory than that campaign.
I dunno if any of you get as excited about dwarfs as I do, but I need a certain amount of dwarfy fun in my life.
Imix |
That was how I read it - but that strongly suggests it is some crazy magic, rather than some demonic home crafts. Thought I should check.
Istiel |
Yay! Vallen lives!
I always liked that dwarf.
Or not. I tried to re-write him and simply couldn't find the inspiration. Completely dry. Couldn't even get out a satisfactory sentence. Huh, so much for my dwarfiness. Ah well, maybe some other time.
Imix- LOL, going for the throat! I kind of hope it just wobbles and stays up, because that's the least bad thing I think can happen here.
Imix |
That thing conjured two things in my mind.
(1) one of the old WW II undersea floating mines
(2) a teleport anchor.
Might as well deal with while we're all healed...
Oh dang, just remembered Istiel isn't.
GM Belicose Poultry |
Well Oios wanted to make sure the front liners were safe (He did mean to say Drazan not Imix). Since the front liners haven't moved in yet and Imix has turned himself into the front liner Oios will put the Hallow on just him instead if that's alright.
Of course.
I've got some thinking to do about what exactly is going to happen now. Damn unpredictable PCs, grumble grumble...*
*kidding of course. It is delightful.
Istiel |
I'm sure you'll be able to predict what Istiel will do to the door if it's barred
The key to every lock becomes fist-shaped, doubly so when she gets shattering punch.
Drazan of Peklenc |
Drazan will move when Imix's thing is concluded and we want to chop it up :P
Istiel |
Istiel is going to open up the hut door.
Imix |
@GMBP: I am interpreting that as "Cantrips aren't enough to pull it down". Is that right? I see it could also be "I'm giving you guys one last chance before this thing explodes."
