I will be fine with any proposed solution. I really liked Shalyna's posts, so I am sorry to see her leave, but it happens in PbP quite often, so it's not such a big surprise.
So Tidus, if you were to take her character, what do we do with Tidus the Ranger? Do we have him wonder somewhere away on some very important errand or you (or the GM) had some other idea?
Male Human Ranger (Infiltrator) 1, Initiative +2, Perception +5

We hadn't discussed it, yet. I'll have to think on that a bit.
Are you for sure making the switch, Tidus? I hate to proceed too much further until we get that resolved.
Actually, the more I think about it, it'd be easier to just fill the gap with someone new than go through all that hassle. So I'll just stick with how I am. :)
No problem at all, those things simply happen. How will Berenwyr join us - do we proceed to tangle around the tree looking for moss, and you insert him later in some better spot, or you have some solution already?
Hey guys, elf wizard reporting for duty. I still need to jigger my equipment to fit the character creation guidelines, but aside from that I'm ready to play. Idyll, what are your thoughts on using starting wealth to craft scrolls? Thanks for having me guys, I'm glad to game with y'all.
Hey, I was thinking that maybe Beren has been camped here for a few days, observing the great tree and the creature in its branches. If he had seen the party enter the clearing he would have warned them off, but he was in the midst of a reverie as they first approached and is hustling over to warn them when the creature jumps out. Anyway, I was thinking I could roll a knowledge nature to see what he's observed about this thing, but I wanted to do it as a spoiler since there is no way the group would know. I hope that's ok.
Knowledge(Nature):1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
You recognize this creature as a Taltzwyrm. It has a tendency to charge its victims and then constrict them. It also has a poisonous gasp, which it will use in the face of the victims it has constricted.
Yeah, nothing more slippery than a greased pig, er dwarf.
Ranged attacks will take a penalty for cover / firing into melee, but the grappler and grapplee are at -2 AC while in the grapple, so it might be time to go to melee.
I usually do individual initiatives, with the monsters acting as one group and the DM (me) merging all the actions together.
So, round 1 would be:
PCs before monsters
monsters
Then round 1/2 would be:
All PCs
monsters
round 2/3
All PCs
monsters
...
The Dm then just needs to merge actions logically, giving either the PCs or the monsters the benefit of the doubt when conflicts arise (depending on how harsh he wants to be).
So, given the actions above, I would do something like...
Tidus and Zane continue to fire into the wyrm, taking care to avoid hitting Firebeard, who was still wrapped in the creature's coils. The dwarf was still struggling when Berernwyr's spell coated him with a thin layer of greasy lubricant. He slipped from the creature's grasp as Hassan's eagle... and the cleric himself did something equally ineffective.
Just kind of keeping the initiative order in mind while narrating through.
So basically, going forward we will roll initiative normally, and party members can act in any order, but if they roll lower than the opponent, they still go after the opponent, and in this instance, the creature's turn is really the end of the round, right?
I know a guy from a PbP I was in that fell apart recently. I can send him a message if you like. Are we going to bot him in the mean time and continue the combat or put things on hold until we find a replacement?
GM Idyll, my friend is interested. His name is main alias is Axolotl. He says he's in one of your games already and he'll get to work on a Feather/Growth cleric.
@GM Idyll - how come is creature more than 30' away from Zane now? He was next to it last round, hitting it in mellee, does it mean that creature have a base movement more than 30'? And should we not have an AoO in that case?
Hmm...good question. :) I don't think I had your position accurate in the map before I moved the wyrm. Go ahead and take your AOO and let's see what happens.
I'd say give Tidus some time, he'll probably be back. Did anyone try messaging him? Otherwise, I think we have a decent party with the four of us. We could keep going.
