GM Redelia |
Azeban, you don't see anything more than the path continuing. The green monsters are clearly too far ahead for you to see anything.
Also, you guys know enough to realize that goblins sometimes are just too stupid/goofy to think of things like covering their tracks.
Brennus the Raven |
Brennus hadn't seen much of Azeban until now, so he looks the pseudodragon over carefully. Clearly he was another familiar.
"Or they're just that stupid," Brennus rasps. "We are talking about goblins."
Still, he keeps his eyes open. Goblins were that stupid, but if fey were involved...
Bethella |
Bethella casts a spell, bringing up a minor protective barrier over herself, so that she would be ready if combat happens.
Mage Armor
"Let's keep following them... but keep an eye out! We don't know if they have an ambush ready."
She looks to Brennus. "Do you want to join in the aerial scouting? Or lurk here? Either way, make sure to keep yourself out of harm's way!"
Brennus the Raven |
"Someone needs to keep an eye on you," Brennus replies. "Just watch your step! I don't want to have to jump off your shoulder without warning!"
Brennus the Raven |
Brennus makes a sound that might be a snicker, but keeps whatever thought spawned it to himself.
Brennus the Raven |
"If it's just goblins," Brennus cautions.
Brennus the Raven |
No one is more paranoid about magical trickery than one prone to using it himself... so Brennus's first action on hearing the weeping is to quietly cast detect magic and search for traces of illusion magic.
Smaxx |
Smaxx uses his Scent ability to check the area for any other unseen enemies he may be able to detect.
SURV: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (17) + 3 = 20
And yes, he mentally face palmed earlier for not asking for something of the child's to get their scent. Give him a break he's not that smart!
Busara |
Little goblin, as in - a young goblin?
Busara circles the tree to find the source of the noise. Wary of an ambush, she keeps her senses alert as she crouches in front of the goblin.
"What happened to you? Why are you here all alone?" Her voice is soft and her tone soothing. This may be a goblin, but she could never abide unnecessary suffering.
Perception: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (7) + 12 = 19

"I hurt my ankle, and they left me here. They said the big, bad longshanks would come soon and kill me, and described all the horrible ways the lonkshanks would hurt me first. Please don't hurt me like that. Please just kill me quickly!
The goblin is 'little' because goblins are size small. This one does seem young and inexperienced.
Brennus the Raven |
Brennus didn't trust this goblin one bit. He was sure, if he'd been alone, she would have tried to eat him. Still, she was handing out useful information, so he wasn't going to interrupt.
Instead, he just ruffles his feathers and broadcasts mistrust and dislike over his empathic link with Bethella.
Alis Zeroux |
Can you show us where they took him? I don't know what is wrong with your chief, but we will help him if we can. Do you want to ride on my shoulders so you don't have to walk?
If he allows it, she picks him up and lets him ride on her shoulders so he can show us the way without injuring himself further.
GM Redelia |
The little goblin is very chatty with Alis. He tells you his name is Ollie, and that most of the other goblins don't like him, because the priest overheard him praying, looking for another deity besides the one their tribe worships. He also describes the meeting between his chief and a group of fey, including the fey 'advisor' who was left with the chief.
Bethella |
Bethella will try to join in on the conversation between Alis and the little goblin. "Which diety is it that you do pray to?"
She's curious as well to hear the answer to Alis' question.
(She will see if she can figure out what sort of fey creature it is from anything the goblin says: Knowledge (Nature): 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (9) + 12 = 21.)
GM Redelia |
"One hasn't answered me yet. My tribe worships Lamashtu, but there has to be someone else out there. Someone who doesn't like seeing creatures in pain. I was just asking for someone to show themselves to me."
The little guy explains that he hasn't seen any of the fey leaders. The messengers he has seen sound to you like sprites.
Alis Zeroux |
...there has to be someone else out there. Someone who doesn't like seeing creatures in pain.
There are many gods that don't enjoy pain. Hmm... Have you tried Milani? She is the goddess of hope, which you seem to have a lot of.
She might be willing to listen, if you pray to her specifically.Bethella |
"Yes, Milani is one who might be what you're looking for. And, I could tell you about Desna, Lady Luck, if you're interested."
"But, right now, we need to see if we can rescue this human child before whatever fey creature it is uses the poor tyke in some kind of sacrifice."
Busara |
Sense motive: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
While this encounter seemed fortuitous and Busara is glad that this goblin seems inclined to seek a better way of living, she reminds herself to be careful. After all, this could be a clever trap set by the fey, with their twisted minds.
"Ollie, would you like me to heal your ankle? Then you could walk by yourself. "

Brennus the Raven |
Brennus remains quiet, pointedly looking away from the goblin as he keeps watch for anything suspicious while they're talking.
Bethella can tell he still doesn't trust the goblin.
Alis Zeroux |
Alis lifts Ollie down so that Busara can heal his ankle.
Yikes. Now I'm imagining Ollie transforming into something evil while he's on my shoulders, and scratching my eyes out. I suppose it is all way too good to be true. I did so much want to believe though. I wonder if we are even going the right direction.
GM Redelia |
Ollie is very grateful for Busara's healing. He then walks just in front of you, leading you. You know that a goblin settlement is ahead even before you can see it from the smell. Sewer smells mix with pickle smells in a nauseating miasma. Ollie is almost struck with an arrow as you come closer to the camp. "Go away, pest, you do not worship, so you can't be here!" yells the goblin who shot at Ollie.
Brennus the Raven |
Brennus would have much preferred to have stopped *before* any of them came into sight of the camp, but oh, well. He was just a little raven, no one would listen to him.
I'm assuming we pull back far enough to talk freely, otherwise he'll stay silent.
"Heal a Lamashtu worshipper?" he caws incredulously at Alis's suggestion. "That's like healing a snake in your nest! I say it's better to trick them."
He looks sidelong at Bethella, mischief glittering in his little black eyes. "I could take a look, see what opportunities there might be... they might respect mysterious voices from the air."
Brennus the Raven |
I was kind of waiting on others to agree or disagree with Brennus
Smaxx |
" I don't know who this Lamb Shoe Shoe fella is, but I don't trust mutton unless it's on my dinner plate-and if it's up a walking around that can't be good! Mix in goblins...that's just trouble brewin'. If Brennus wants to scout, I'll go for it, if Alis wants just to go straight in, I will be there to help take care of things no matter what happens!"
Alis Zeroux |
Ollie doesn't answer her, and she realizes he's probably frightened and doesn't know anyway, since he was probably hurt on the raiding party in.
We come in peace! she yells. We heard your chief was sick. Maybe we can help.
She says in a lower voice so only the party can hear her Got no problem with tricks, but let's get in and find out where the boy is so they are more well-placed.
Alis Zeroux |
Hmm. Well, I have the ingredients for like 20 pies back at my house, and I was going to make them and give them to whoever helped me find the little human boy... but if you don't like pie...
Hmm. What else do I have to trade, let's see...
She takes off her handy haversack and starts rooting around in it (she doesn't have to, because whatever she want is right there, but she pretends)...
Hmm, waterskin? no. grooming kit? no. trail rations? do you like this stuff? She holds it out. Or maybe darts? I have some that help you fight the fey, if you need some.
