Grint takes the weapons of the Doctor and seats him on a chair, letting Elsa and Malena do the talking and questioning for the while, while he sheaths his sword, retrieves his bow and nocks an arrow. The arrow is pointed on the Doctor if he would later get it in his mind to try and escape.

Oh the opportunity of BOOYAH should be treasured. My gnome bard in a PFS rolled 19 on a 15 DC acro and a nat 20 on a 14DC str check. So the ship that had nobody on the helm was saved by a gnome of just above 2 feet tall.

Cold sweat seems to befall dr. Tromp.
Lyssa eyes him with her arms crossed, still picking out some splinters from the construct.

I am from out of Kharum. I used to work as an apothecary and alchemist in Magnimar, before being discredited falsely.

Overthinking affairs in the tavern, this person approached me. An odd bald fellow with an emblem on a pouch. It looked weird....it was erm...erm.... a circle of total darkness with what seemed a gate of sorts and a path heading to it in the shape of an [b]S on its side. He offered me a position and well compensation if i would work on a drug that induces memory loss, sadly it worked adversely.

I've heard rumors of people ending up crazy instead of temporal memory loss. The formulae wasn't perfected yet. Despite that, they wanted a chestload of the unfinished products for one goal or another. They have only very little left of it."[/b]

Also, Elsa isn't really the brains behind this operation. She doesn't fully understand what is going on. She was leaving that up to Grint, Lyssa, Sable and Malena although Malena isn't coming along anymore I guess.

Yes, recruitment's open and 2 have shown interest and are working on a char. I've got an idea for Malena's character.

Sabel and Malena have come closer too.

"So, a total stranger wants you to make a drug that causes amnesia, but the result has worse effects. They actually are FINE with it too.", she pinches between her eyes shaking her head. She looks up at the rest.
"Well, we've got our end of the deal with "you-know-who" over with. I think we should turn the "doctor" over to the city guard."

Lyssa:
"Yeah, about that, i want to first know what this THING i just beat up actually IS.", she pulls away a part of the wood that made up the torso and some gears and cogs fling out and roll over the floor. The construct was made of low quality gears, planks and haye.

Tromp answers before Elsa might do something to him.
"That...is a construct servant they provided me with after the initial supply i gave them. Some sort of construct, it's not my field of expertise."

There is a small plaque on the "neck" of it, that says
A product of Leeway engineering.

Malena nods, and turns back to the doctor. "I don't suppose you can tell us anything about this 'Y', or you were supposed to contact him again? Anything more than an odd, bald fellow? Also, do you have anybody in here, any prisoners, by the name of Fergus?"

The doctor nods.

"The man you call Fergus might well be the one in the cell. But i'd be careful, he was one of my test subjects and hasn't got all his marbles together. He's unarmed, we took his gear, but he can still swing punches in some of his clear moments. Quite an individual, he knocked down 2 guards and broke a 3rd guard's nose in close combat before he was sedated.

Regarding the Y, i don't know for sure. I recall hearing whispers between those contacts about one Yagmy. Other than that i don't know."

With Lyssa keeping the doctor in check, despite any bindings, you head over to the cells. One of the other keys fit the lock and with a *click* it opens.

An athletic man with bright short red hair, green eyes and a modest beard looks up at you.
A spark of anger lights as he sees the doctor.
"Well i'll be,ah'm commin for ye, ya fil'y quack-doc!"
Hadn't it been for the bars with in the row of cells he certainly would have.

Grint looks up from the loot gathering from the chests as the man genuinely looks scared and surprised of someone going up in flames.

"I believe it was a guy that ambushed at night in the city, he had a pair of annoying monkeys with him and used a crossbow. Haven't seen his face though, i was out for most of the battle."

Grint takes the weapons, the potions, the chain shirt and the flask of alchemist's fire. He leaves the man his clothes and food.

"We've got more keys on this chain, we should try them out on the chests below and on the prison door."

Way ahead of you. There's a spoiler of the loot thusfar on Campaign Info of what you found. But it never hurts to keep an offline sheet as well.

After all the commentary of flames and magic, Sabel casts Detect Magic on doc Tromp.
"There is no magic on the doctor. Perhaps he isn't aware of greater plans?"

Lyssa:
"Good, so there's no problem to make him go napping until we get him to the jail right? The other guy went up in flames as soon as he went down."

Do you keep the gear that is likely Fergus'?

With the keys you let Fergus out. Between you he doesn't get to the doctor.
Even with a prisoner, the '6' of you take the last little room on the 1st floor with ease. Within is just a cook. The middle room on the left contains 2 chests, 1 of which contains about 8lbs worth of the "candy".
The other one contains a small alchemist kit and 15gp.

Fergus thanks you for the rescue before going his own way.
"Ya have mah thanks. It seems you did wha' ah attempted to duu. Naow ah must take mah leave. Good day to ya."

At the guard station:

"Well well, what do you bring us today? A prisoner of yours?"
After hearing the story of your endeavour, the guard captain has a serious look on his face.
"Hmm. That explains the crazies in the cells. We'll put this "doctor" in the cell for interrogation. Meanwhile you look like you could use some time off."


Intermission aka downtime for the day's afternoon. Will you guys do anything in particular or collectively head for the meeting you've been invited to?"

"So what do we do with this candy here? It's a lot, do we want to turn this over to the guards or just dispose of it right here and right now?"

"I've got the weapons and the armour, you're clothes still lie in the room with that dr. Tromp. We'll give him to the proper authorities here and they'll try to figure out what they can from him. I'm sorry you've been treated as bad by him as you were."

Grint takes a moment to realize the special arrows are actually the ones with oily cloth bound around them.
"So you were the one that made those? Good effort against that golem of his I must say. If I could keep those I'd be much obliged."

You've spent your afternoon relaxing from the fight down at Tromp's house.
Early in the evening you arrive at the Landorra household.
"Ah, our last guests have arrived, com in.". Markus leads you to the library which serves as an office as well. A large long table providing enough space for all of you stands in the center.
The heads of the families, the Kromm brothers and the guard captain are all present.

Guard captain
"From what we've gotten out of doctor Tromp, he had been recruited in Magnimar, which he's revealed to you 5 already. We have now a link between the crazy thieves and doc Tromp. But it seems likely Tromp was recruited and informed for just his single purpose of the drug, for now at least."

"So it's all and well that we've an explaination for that particular situation, but we don't know yet who and for what purpose this all was ochestrated."

"A sealed letter arrived for our 5 here."
He gives the sealed letter to whoever takes it 1st.

"You've been in contact with him? I've been trying to get my hands on him for years and nothing. Description of him?"

"None i'm afraid, he wouldn't show, just a mediator.
Anyway, we asked him who the person behind the thievery was and we've had to get dr. Tromp to stop harassing the merchants in exchange."

Lyssa bluntly comes between.
"Yes, and we found a note from whoever is Y, that they want to take over the city. They'd just have to "remove some obstacles". I can only think of that this means you. You made this city possible didn't you?"

Glances are hastily exchanged at the other side of the table.
Guard captain
"This isn't the most positive of news. With the festival over tomorrow, we'll have time again for extra patrols.
So what was the name of this individual?"

Sabel
"A former privateer captain named Joseph Valux, do you know of him?"

Father Landorra wrubs his chin.
"Yes,..yes i do. He used to sail under Magnimar's banner. He had quite a large ship. He crossed a moral line which got him fired from service. Disappeared with the ship before the authorities could properly commandeer it. He had a habit, reputation even, to always find his way home. Hence he put the emblem of a large compass on his ship."

"I'll take those words in the good way. Deputize is a big word but...", Alphonse Lamare interrupts him.

"Officially that's no option. However, should you wish to "aid" this city, you'd be well compensated for your efforts."

At Malena's question Alphonse also responds.
"It's been a good year since he vanished, remarkable really. A ship as large as his wouldn be hard to miss. Prior to his violation that caused his dismissal, he had taken aboard this wizard, a shaven guy bald man. A slick guy, from hear-tell."

"Patrols will be more frequent. As for the crazies..", he looks at the others, "..we'd best send them to Fatush, there's been no signs of recovery in any of them and taking up space is a waste."

The others nod.

"What or who is Fatush? Some kind of doctor or prison?"

"You're not far off, it's an Asylum a few days travel from the city. Secure, spacious, solid.
I suggest the next course of action would be the extra patrols the guard captain suggested and you wished to obtain more information yes?"

Malena nods. "I would love to get out of my armor and go to an event and relax... although hanging out with you crowd, I'll probably regret getting out of my armor and letting my hair down. It wouldn't hurt me to spend another afternoon down near the docks plying my trade, either."

I'll have the party go for the event. Nothing combat orientated, but a more fun potential money-gain. You'll have your own downtime afterwards, nothing planned for the afternoon, lest you incite something.

As you arrive it is noticable a good number of stands has wrapped up shop and have left. However a few new are now standing in place.
Participating in a contest like the obstacle course and the archery will take the remainder of the morning. The quiz and ball & cups only partially, so one can cheer the others on.

Obstacle course:

There's a small obstaclecourse with beams and blocks above a large constructed water basin.
Whipeout challenge, says the sign.
"Complete our obstacle course and win 25gp, 1 attempt per person."

This challenge requires physical rolls.
A series of wet floating platforms, beams, barrels and a rotating cushion requiring increasing Acrobatics DC 13, 16, 19 & 22.
Failing any of these you may swim without check to the next DC. If you make DC10 swim, you get there fast. 2 points are awarded for passing an acro check, swimming with a DC10 gets you 1 point, taking your time gives 0 points. Prizes depend on the amount of gained points.

Shooting range:

An improvised shooting yard has been set up.
"Come right up people, archery competition with ANY type of bow. 25gp prize for winning."

This challenge puts contestants on a range with 4 targets, each decreasing in size.
Upon hitting target, roll a 1d15. 1-5= 1 point, 6-10= 2 points, 11-15=Bullseye.
Ranged DC 12, 15, 17, 20.

Quiz:

"Test your smart and your wit. Have your grey mass make you the winner."
A small amount of tables is set up, participants get a list of questions on various topics and an inked quill.

Choose 1 Kn. skill
Roll 8d20. DC 10,12,14,16,18,20,22
You may choose a 2nd Kn. if you wish, but doing so will increase the DC of the 2nd by +2 for each question. Double the possible prize though.

Ball&cup:

A well-known game, 3 cups and 1 ball.
Perception based game.
Succesfull pass= 2 points
Failing pass= 1 reroll for a possible 1 point.
DC 10,12,14,16.

Lyssa needs little time and heads for the obstacle course. {*}
"I'm going to pass his measly test."
When it's her turn she heads up.
She easily races across the platforms, not losing her footing in the least. Getting across small beams also poses no issue. When it's time for the barrels however she dodges several, but one knocks her off into the water. Swimming quickly she reaches the final stage, poles with a spinning cushion as obstacle. Ducking, flipping and jumping gets her far but just near the last few poles she gets a firm push into the water. *splash* She quickly swims to the finish.
Lyssa has scored 6 points out 8 on the course. Which lands her a shared 1st place, winning 12gp and 5sp.

(Before going to the festival, Malena will change out of her leather armor and back into her entertainer's outfit. She'll put back on her necklace and bangles, and will leave her shortbow and shortsword at home. She still keeps her daggers and sap with her, however, as is her usual custom.)

Malena finds herself drawn to the quiz. She's been collecting bits of lore about everything here and yonder for some time now, partly for purposes of improving her performance at her fortune-telling gig, but also just because she finds herself enjoying doing it. As such, the quiz seems to be tailor-made for her....

"Do you have a series of questions about the local area? Who's who in Kharum, where to find the out-of-the-way restaurants and shops, information about the local humanoid tribes, that kind of thing? If so, I'll ante up...."

Malena starts to field the questions, answering those she can.... She easily answers the first three questions, but much to her chagrin she finds herself tripped up on the fourth question. Evidently she doesn't get to be a millionaire today.

Malena had scored 6 out of 8 questions correctly. Being a local she knew quite the things on various topics related to Kharum's shops, people and customs. One person knew everything though. Quite a knowledgable person it seems. Unfortunately Malena didn't win the 1st prize money with being 2nd.
However.....knowing the hardest last question, did score her a smaller reward of 5gp.

Grint enjoys a little bit of peace and quiet, sitting together with a friend and doing nothing is exactly how he pictured his time off would be.

Though when he hears about an archery competition his eyes light up and he feels a little edgy as if he can't resist such a thing. He looks to Elsa as he finishes the drink he bought for himself and watches the drink he bought for her. Still half-full... Best thing to do is ask if she minds...

"Elsa? I've heard there's an archery contest among the different events. Would you be troubled if I leave for a short while and participate?"
Assuming Elsa says she isn't troubled at all.

Grint approaches the shooting range with his own bow strung and looks at the different targets.
"Well my aim is pretty good, I'd like to join in. I'll aim for the second target, no need to show off and fail I'd reckon."
