Have you thought about using a buckler with his bow and a 1handed weapon? Theres no penalty to using the bow with a buckler and you get extra AC.
I thought you took a -1 penalty if attacking with an arm wielding a buckler...
Specifically mentions you can use a bow or a crossbow without penalty in buckler write-up

Lately, my neighbours, both next to me and above me, have resumed the tendency of arguing loudly around and after midnight. This leaves less hours of proper sleep, and recently multiple nights have been such.
