Lantressa's magical bolts sink home in the shark's flesh, and Korriban's rapier finally finds a solid purchase, skewering the shark even as it breaks free from the octopus's grasping tentacles. The shark, bleeding but not slain, now lunges with rage at Korriban, its huge jaws snapping shut on his arm. Blood from Korriban and from the shark mingles as it thrashes!

Korriban takes a whopping 14 damage from the shark's powerful jaws!

ROUND FOUR

As the shark lets go its hold on Korriban's arm and begins to circle for another attack, the door at the end of the chamber--the one it was butting its head against--is hauled open in a swirl of bubbles. As they clear, you all see some...thing...like a woman, but clearly not, emerge from the room, glaring at you all. Her appearance is so hideous that you all actually feel physically ill for a moment, your muscles loosening as you resist the urge to vomit.

Everyone takes 1 point of Strength damage...which fortunately isn't enough to apply any penalty!

When the hideous woman sees the situation, she shrieks in rage. "Skinshear! What have they done to you, my lovey?!"

But you guys are up!

And with that defiant stab, Korriban thrusts his rapier into the shark's belly, letting loose a stream of blood. The shark thrashes briefly, jaws snapping on air, and then goes limp. The newcomer lets out a wail of mingled rage and anguish.

M Human (Ustalavian) Cleric of Groetus 3/Slum Shaman 1/Evangelist of Groetus 5

Teodor tries a hold person spell, doubtfully. Both summoned animals attack.

Male

Just going to bot Lantressa since it's been a while.

As the shark begins to float toward the "ceiling," Teodor chants a new spell under the water, but it seems to have no effect on the hideous creature. Not a humanoid, sorry! Knowledge (Nature) for more info... The octopus and the dolphin ? I just realized we never established what the other was! My bad! dart through the water toward your foe and attack. She easily slips away from the octopus's tentacles, but the dolphin catches her unawares and batters her hard. Lantressa summons another group of silvery bolts that attack your foe.

Snarling in anger, the ugly creature slips deftly away from the octopus and begins to chant herself, her hands moving in strange, undulating gestures...

ROUND FIVE!

Your foe continues to chant, dodging the dolphin's attempt to interrupt her with ease as she weaves her spell...

OMG, I'm so sorry. I'm not sure how I missed posting.

Not liking the fact their newest foe is casting a long spell, and not wanting to see what happens when she finishes, Lantressa swam into range and began speaking, "You really need to stop what you're doing. This fight already cost you what I can only guess was a friend in that shark. Should it cost your life too?"

I move in range and then use my beguiling voice to try and daze her to disrupt her spell. Will save DC 17 negates.

Male

No worries, it happens! That's why I move us along if there's lag. :)

Unfortunately I have bad news... :(

Lantressa's voice carries supernatural power, and even Korriban and Teodor, who have heard the trick before, feel soothed, but the woman (perhaps because of her fury) simply ignores her.

Male

Botting Teodor for the nonce...he'll try a lesser confusion.

As Korriban swims toward your foe, Teodor chants a different spell from the river bed. The creature blinks at this one, snarling at him briefly, but ignores it almost as much as Lantressa's beguiling voice. The attacks of the dolphin and the octopus seem to be more of a distraction; though they don't hurt her, she does have to work to fend them off.

ROUND SIX

Enraged by their assault, your foe stabs at the summoned creatures with the spear she carries! Her first blow slays the already weakened octopus, and the second leaves the dolphin with a terrible, bleeding gash.

Lantressa's missiles slam into the hag, causing her to reel slightly in the water...and look at her in surprise and anger, as though she didn't expect anything like that to happen (or work). Korriban makes it to your foe and stabs at her, but she just bats the blade aside with a claw and snarls at him. Teodor, clearly frustrated by his inability to destabilize the creature, pushes forward across the uneven "floor" of the vessel, getting close to the position at which Korriban and the creature are tangling in the water, but still about ten feet down at the end of his turn.

ROUND SEVEN!
The hag whirls and stabs her spear through the dolphin, causing it to shriek and explode in a burst of light. Alone with Korriban now, she whips the spear toward him, and the point punches deep into Korriban's thigh! She cackles as the rogue gasps in pain.

Korriban takes 15 points of damage! The party is up!

Korriban screams as the spear pierces his thigh. He tries a new strategy. He swims back to put some distance between him and the thing. He then drops the sunrod he's holding (hopefully there will still be enough light coming from it to fight this thing without any trouble) and digs into his pocket for the potion of cure moderate wounds.

Male

Lantressa sends another volley of magic missiles at the hag, but they seem to just wash over the horrible creature. To your shock, it opens its mouth and you can hear a cackle, conveyed by some eldritch means through the water. "Know that trick now, don't I? You'll not get the drop on me again, heh heh." As Korriban backs away, his sunrod dropping to the floor of the vessel, Teodor lifts his holy symbol and the sickly light of Groetus flows forth, closing some of his friend's wounds. He beckons Korriban down to stand with him.

Teodor channels energy, healing all of you for 8 points of damage!

ROUND EIGHT!

The hag scowls as Korriban backs away, and her scowl deepens when she sees Teodor's holy symbol. One of her pallid eyelids rolls back, revealing a milky, bloodshot, and (most disturbingly) pupil-less orb! Teodor staggers as a strange malaise overtakes him, and the hag swims toward the two men who have invaded her realm.

Party's up!

Male

Though Lantressa's spells continue to roll of your foe, Korriban's healing potion manages to close most of his wounds. Teodor reaches up and touches Korriban's foot, mouthing a prayer as he does so, and the younger man suddenly feels his rapier grow heavier, more powerful. Teodor, flail drawn, moves to flank the hag.

Teodor casts guidance on Korriban, giving him a +1 bonus to his next attack roll, skill check, save, or ability check (your choice)!

ROUND NINE

The hag, enraged by being surrounded, attempts to stab Teo but misses badly. It's sheer luck that she catches Korriban with the tip of her spear as she whirls, opening a gash in his shoulder. "You were fools to come here," she gurgles, the words barely audible under the water. "I'll leave your bones at the bottom of this wreck!"

I'm afraid your poor octopus is already deceased, Teodor. :(

Male

The tide begins to turn, indeed...botting Teo once more.

Although Lantressa's missiles have no obvious effect, they do distract the hag, and Korriban's briefly flaming rapier plunges into her side to debilitating effect. She howls and twists in rage as he withdraws the blade, and below them, Teodor draws his morningstar and murmurs some words, causing it to begin glowing as he glares up at the hag.

Teo casts magic weapon on his morningstar to even the odds a bit...

ROUND TEN (holy crap!)

Bleeding badly from the wound Korriban inflicted, the hag shrieks and whirls at him with her spear! Her first blow lances into Korriban's side, and the second opens a nasty gash in Teodor's arm.

The battle, which has now lasted for over a minute, is clearly beginning to take its toll on her psyche, even if she's not too badly hurt. She raises her spear to strike at Korriban once more. "Just die, already!" The spear is starting to plunge toward Korriban, faster than he can move out of the way, when

THOOM

Some strange sound reverberates through the water. The spear still descends, lancing into Korriban's stomach (and dealing 11 points of damage), but as she yanks it out the hag looks around, sniffing wildly. "What's that? I smell...hmmmmm....yes..." She leers at the three of you. "I've more entertaining prey than you, now, unless I miss my guess. I'll leave you to tend to your friend I've spit like a fish here...but make no mistake: I'll be back for all of you, my pretty little fools." Cackling, she swims away, darting fish-like through the water toward the opening in the ship's side!

But not quickly enough to avoid AoOs from both Korriban and Teodor! The party's up!

Lantressa wasn't sure what had just happened, what could draw the witch off like that. Still, she was determined to try and kill the stupid witch. She began to chant and gesture but she was fighting through a great deal of interference from all of the water and her spell fizzled out as she just couldn't pull together the flames well enough.

I attempted to cast scorching ray, sadly I missed the check to do it by 10. Oh well.

Korriban screams as he takes the spear to the gut. His vision is surrounded by his blood. When he feels like this is the end for him, some strange noise comes through the water. The creature taunts them once more and turns to flee. Despite almost dying, he tries to stab at her!

When the witch is gone:

Korriban groans as she escapes. He holds his stomach as his adrenaline begins to wear out. He turns to the others. He's pale (though from blood loss or fear, you don't know). He says, "G-Guys? I... I don't feel so good right now. I... I'm actually pretty terrified right now. I thought I was going to die. But... But I'm alive. I'm alive. Calistria's bouncing t**s." He weakly chuckles and puts on a nervous smile. "At least I'll have some interesting scars, right? Ladies like the Hehehehe... ow..." He looks at the hole she escaped from. "I wonder what that sound was though."

Oh wow. That was a fight.

Sorry. Let me complete that.

Since I don't think Teodor has any actions with a major chance of stopping the hag in her tracks...

The ugly woman hisses as Korriban stabs her, but keeps swimming. As she gets away from the rest of you, her arms begin to streamline and meld with her sides, and her mouth widens. As she clears the hole in the boat, she turns to glare at you--now fully and utterly transformed into a shark--and then darts away to the north. At the bottom of the ship, you all catch your breath...

COMBAT OVER

What now? Some nasty injuries, but there are two doors visible from where you are--originally left and right, they're now bottom and top, respectively. The hag came from the top door.

Lantressa was relieved that the hag left, she just hoped they could finish before she returned. As she looked to Korriban in concern she had to laugh at his attempted humor and said, "Yes, of course we do. I mean, who wouldn't want to feel all those old gouges and injuries while they're trying to enjoy a good screwing?" Her sarcasm was thick enough to drown the hag if she had come back just then. "Do you think you can manage Korriban?" Her voice was thick with concern now as she swam towards him.

Male Human (Varisian) hp 45/56 | AC 22/T 17/FF 15 | CMD 22 | Fort +4 | Ref +7 [+8 v traps] | Will +2 | Init +6 | Perc +13 (+15 to locate traps) | SM +17

Korriban chuckles at Lantressa's sarcasm. "Well, that's your opinion. I'm sure some women love it. I do know one thing. I'll need to get my tattoos checked over and possibly fixed. Which sucks. Had a difficult time over the scars the first time."

At her concern, Korriban manages to straighten out. He nods weakly. "Yeah. I'm okay. I just nearly got stabbed to death and a good chunk of my blood is floating around me. Nothing some rest on dry land won't solve. I do have to thank you, though." He looks at Teodor. "Both of you. You guys really saved my life. I would have been chow if it wasn't for you guys." He looks at the top door. "Let's search that one first." He stashes both of the empty potion vials into his pocket and swims down for the sunrod. Picking it up, he says, "I want to explore the ship and get out before she comes back. I do have one last potion that can help one of us for searching the ship. An elixir of vision." A thought comes to him and he looks at the others, face pale in fear. "Guys. I just realized something. Did we just see that woman turn into a shark?"

I'm assuming that question's just for roleplaying's sake, but so there's no ambiguity: yes, yes you did. ;)

Also, I screwed up: they were a top and bottom door (on two different levels) when the ship was upright, so now a left (easily accessible) and a right (requires negotiating down some stairs). She came from the easily accessible left one. Posting what happens when you open the left door so that people can keep things moving forward if desired.

When you open the left door:
Several bent metal bedframes and glass-paned cabinets lie shattered across the floor of this room. The room swirls with a haze of gore, fish heads, and half-eaten eels chumming the circling waters.

And you can make Perception checks if you'd like to search it.

Yes. I was saying that for RP's sake. :)

Korriban swims to the left door and opens it. He sees the mess and sighs. He puts down the sunrod for a moment. He digs into his pocket and pulls out the elixir of vision. He looks at the others. "Do either of you want this to help your search?"

If Lantressa or Teodor want it:
Korriban nods and hands the vial to them. "Give me the empty vial when you're done. Going to use the vials for something." He takes the vial and stuffs it into his pocket. He picks up the sunrod and searches the room.

If Lantressa or Teodor don't want it:
Korriban nods and drinks the vial. He lets his eyes adjust for a moment. He takes the vial and stuffs it into his pocket. He picks up the sunrod and searches the room.

Lantressa looked inquiringly at the offered bottle and asked, "What is it?"

Korriban looks at Lantressa. "An elixir of vision. Supposed to increase your perception for an hour."

Made it regardless of who uses the elixir, so...

Once the elixir is drunk and you've begun to search the chamber, it quickly becomes clear that most of what remains in this chamber is shattered and/or waterlogged beyond any hope of usefulness. You do find two pieces of interest, though: heavy coffers, one made of steel, and the other a heavy metal that you suspect might be lead. They're both currently closed, though the steel one floats. It's also engraved with images of skulls, and it looks very similar in construction to the one in which Brienne Tayce found the Chelish silver that infected her. It's not obvious what keeps it closed.

The lead coffer was less obvious--wedged under a partially destroyed cabinet--and appears only to have a simple latch that could be opened easily.

Knowledge (Engineering) DC 15 or Intelligence DC 20:
Given the way the lid is fitted, you suspect that the lead coffer, though not locked, is watertight when closed.

Int Check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14

Lantressa examined the newfound coffers carefully, particularly the one that seemed all too similar to the one with the poisoned silver. Unfortunately this was not her are of expertise. She looked at Korriban and said, "I have nothing, maybe I'm being too cautious but if so tough, I have no desire to get infected."

Male Human (Varisian) hp 45/56 | AC 22/T 17/FF 15 | CMD 22 | Fort +4 | Ref +7 [+8 v traps] | Will +2 | Init +6 | Perc +13 (+15 to locate traps) | SM +17

Korriban helps dig up the coffers. He looks them over. "The steel one is interesting. It has similar skulls motifs like the one that Brienne found with the Chelish silver. We may be onto something."

Intelligence check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6

Korriban looks at Lantressa and shrugs. "I don't have anything either. Let's just search the rest of the ship, grab what we can, and get out of here. I'd rather not get infected and go for round 2 with that b***h."

He moves the coffers so that they're easier to grab. He then moves to search the other room.
