You do you, man! Good luck and we'll be here.

Per our discussion earlier about streamlining our exploration scenes... would this be a place where it made sense to say we just go room by room looking carefully (take 10 on Perception) until something happens?

That way we don't have to go through, "okay we go to the living room." "there's living room things here and nothing else. Next?" "okay, the dining room. "There's dining room things here, next?" etc. etc.

^Yes, this please. It can keep an uneventful house search from taking a week of real-life time.

M Human (Ustalavian) Cleric of Groetus 3/Slum Shaman 1/Evangelist of Groetus 5

Absolutely.

Male Human (Varisian) hp 45/56 | AC 22/T 17/FF 15 | CMD 22 | Fort +4 | Ref +7 [+8 v traps] | Will +2 | Init +6 | Perc +13 (+15 to locate traps) | SM +17

Sure.

Male

Absolutely under normal circumstances. However this house has some...odd features.

I guess the one thing I need to know is this: are you going to search the entire first floor before proceeding upstairs? If so, I can move us ahead. :)

M Human (Ustalavian) Cleric of Groetus 3/Slum Shaman 1/Evangelist of Groetus 5

Yes.

Male Human (Varisian) hp 45/56 | AC 22/T 17/FF 15 | CMD 22 | Fort +4 | Ref +7 [+8 v traps] | Will +2 | Init +6 | Perc +13 (+15 to locate traps) | SM +17

I vote yes. We should check the entire first floor before going upstairs.

Human Bard - Arcane Duelist 9 [ HP: 41/57 AC:22(21) T:14(13) FF:19 | CMD 22 | Fort +7, Ref +11(10), Will +8 | Init +4 Perc: +8 | 1st/day 7/7, 2nd/day 5/5 3rd/day 2/4; Perf rds 21/25 | Disruptive I message, see invisible 90 minutes, haste 8 rounds (from 9)

Yes. And that's why there's the two caveats of "searching carefully" and "until something happens." I figure we can basically move in a clockwise ish fashion until everything is seen (or we are attacked or the candelabrum starts talking to us or whatever).

Male

Great, moving us forward then! Sorry, this place is so small I didn't even think to bring in the new dungeon procedure.

Male

So, just to make sure this sounds good to everyone, here's a draft of the Standard Operating Practice for any future dungeon crawls:

I'll assume that you'll move in a consistent marching order unless you say otherwise. Here (since the hallway is 5' wide) I went with Matoska->Korriban->Callie->Teo->Lantressa.

I'll assume you search each door for traps and take 10 to search each room.

I'll roll any opposed rolls needed (Perception checks and...possibly Will saves, I suppose) and include "bonus info" that I can't track who has access to (like Knowledge checks) under spoilers.

Sound good to everyone? Anything we want to add?

Human Bard - Arcane Duelist 9 [ HP: 41/57 AC:22(21) T:14(13) FF:19 | CMD 22 | Fort +7, Ref +11(10), Will +8 | Init +4 Perc: +8 | 1st/day 7/7, 2nd/day 5/5 3rd/day 2/4; Perf rds 21/25 | Disruptive I message, see invisible 90 minutes, haste 8 rounds (from 9)

Sounds good to me. Thanks!

I really like that art of the Red Mantis Assassin. To me, it looks better than the original art.

Male

Me too! I love the shade of the armor. Much more intimidating/bug-like.

Male

I liiiiiive!

Which is my way of saying, phew! Opening was last night, so although I'm VERY tired, my schedule should become something a little more regular now...thanks for your patience!

M Human (Ustalavian) Cleric of Groetus 3/Slum Shaman 1/Evangelist of Groetus 5

Congrats, boss!

Male

Thank you!

Also, this track came up at random when I had my soundcloud running writing this update--have to say it feels very appropriate (though I have no idea what the game is)! :P

Male Human (Varisian) hp 45/56 | AC 22/T 17/FF 15 | CMD 22 | Fort +4 | Ref +7 [+8 v traps] | Will +2 | Init +6 | Perc +13 (+15 to locate traps) | SM +17

Congratulations, Norv!

That track is very appropriate for this moment. :)

Male

Korriban, I'm not totally up on the UnRogue's Debilitating Injury feature; if you can spell out what each effect does (at least for a little while), I'll appreciate the time saved looking them up! :)

Male Human (Varisian) hp 45/56 | AC 22/T 17/FF 15 | CMD 22 | Fort +4 | Ref +7 [+8 v traps] | Will +2 | Init +6 | Perc +13 (+15 to locate traps) | SM +17

Got it. Sorry about that. Here it is:

Debilitating Injury:
At 4th level, whenever a rogue deals sneak attack damage to a foe, she can also debilitate the target of her attack, causing it to take a penalty for 1 round (this is in addition to any penalty caused by a rogue talent or other special ability). The rogue can choose to apply any one of the following penalties when the damage is dealt.

Bewildered: The target becomes bewildered, taking a -2 penalty to AC. The target takes an additional -2 penalty to AC against all attacks made by the rogue. At 10th level and 16th level, the penalty to AC against attacks made by the rogue increases by -2 (to a maximum of -8).

Disoriented: The target takes a -2 penalty on attack rolls. In addition, the target takes an additional -2 penalty on all attack rolls it makes against the rogue. At 10th level and 16th level, the penalty on attack rolls made against the rogue increases by -2 (to a maximum of -8).

Hampered: All of the target’s speeds are reduced by half (to a minimum of 5 feet). In addition, the target cannot take a 5-foot step.

These penalties do not stack with themselves, but additional attacks that deal sneak attack damage extend the duration by 1 round. A creature cannot suffer from more than one penalty from this ability at a time. If a new penalty is applied, the old penalty immediately ends. Any form of healing applied to a target suffering from one of these penalties also removes the penalty.

Male Human (Varisian) hp 45/56 | AC 22/T 17/FF 15 | CMD 22 | Fort +4 | Ref +7 [+8 v traps] | Will +2 | Init +6 | Perc +13 (+15 to locate traps) | SM +17

Before I make my move, I have to ask: What would be the DC to climb over the banister onto the stairs behind the assassin?

Male

If you're talking about getting behind Green, not too hard; I'd say a D.C. 5 or so?

If you're thinking about Red, I'm afraid it won't really work...the stairs start north of Green and then turn to the left, so if you imagine them continuing you'll see that Red is actually UNDER the stairs. Standing on the stairs in the square "next" to him you won't have line of effect.

(Which is why he hid there, of course.)

Witchwolf (Shoanti) Brb1/Brawler8; 95/95hp Ini +3; AC24, T17, FF20; F +13, R +12, W +7

Feel free to go shank green, Red backed himself into a corner and I'm just going to pummel him into submission.

Male Human (Varisian) hp 45/56 | AC 22/T 17/FF 15 | CMD 22 | Fort +4 | Ref +7 [+8 v traps] | Will +2 | Init +6 | Perc +13 (+15 to locate traps) | SM +17

I forgot about that DC to get behind green a few rounds ago. However, I think I would have made it anyway if was Acrobatics.

Male

Sorry for the delayed post, all. My parents were visiting and my show closed this past weekend, so things were a little crazier than I anticipated.

M Human (Ustalavian) Cleric of Groetus 3/Slum Shaman 1/Evangelist of Groetus 5

No worries, boss.

For now, Callie is putting all the loot into her handy haversack (I haven't fully tallied the weight but I believe it will go in without issue):

54 pp (540 gp)

4 x dagger
2 x alchemist's fire
2 x cloak of resistance +1
2 x leather armor +1
2 x bull's strength
2 x mask of the mantis

Mask of the Mantis:

Aura faint divination; CL 3rd; Slot head; Price 6,000 gp; Weight 1 lb.

DESCRIPTION

These red masks cover the entire face.

A mantis mask has three daily charges. The wearer can spend a charge to gain:

darkvision to a range of 60 feet
the effects of see invisibility
the effects of deathwatch, or
a +5 competence bonus on Perception checks.

Once a charge is spent, the effect granted persists for 30 minutes before fading.

Multiple effects can be active simultaneously. Charges used replenish after 24 hours.

CONSTRUCTION REQUIREMENTS

Craft Wondrous Item, darkvision, see invisibility, deathwatch; Cost 3,000 gp

Callie will be keeping one of the potions of bull's strength for herself if no one claims it. Possibly also the alchemist's fire.

The Norv, are the daily charges on the masks spent?

Witchwolf (Shoanti) Brb1/Brawler8; 95/95hp Ini +3; AC24, T17, FF20; F +13, R +12, W +7

I would also like one of the potions, please.

Male

All of the charges on the masks are currently spent.

I hope no one has problems with Teodor using modern slang or phrases. I think of it as how we would translate the actual slang. If it is problematic I will change it.

I don’t have a problem with it, Teodor.

Male

Gah, sorry for the slow update...I was halfway through a post and my computer ate it, then crashed. Given that it’s late here and I’ve averaged fiveish hours of sleep lately, I’m gonna head to bed. My apologies...post will be up in the morning!

I love how everyone's reaction to Korriban's flirting with Laori is, "Korriban, no."

Significant portions of the AP so far have been defined by the

ALL: Korriban, no!
KORRIBAN: Korriban yes!

dynamic.

Don't deny that that dynamic hasn't made it all the more entertaining. ;)

Male

I finally tracked down Laori's new artwork online!

I much prefer it to the old version.

Witchwolf (Shoanti) Brb1/Brawler8; 95/95hp Ini +3; AC24, T17, FF20; F +13, R +12, W +7

Huh, the new art is definitely better except that she has pupils. I really like the longer ears and solid-color eyes of Golarion elves, it helps set them apart from humans more.

Male

Agreed on the pupil thing. I do normally like the pupil-less elves.

RE: rolling against other players, in non-PVP situations it varies a lot. I think most groups are like Callie's, no rolling against other players and it's just assumed that most people can pick up on their allies' intentions. I personally don't mind it if it's just for flavor (ie. one character picking up on another's bluff during roleplaying) and it doesn't affect the actual game.

I think the golden rule is, "Always find a way to say yes to something." So, for example, I don't mind people rolling to understand someone else's bluff check...as long as, even if you fail, you find a creative/entertaining way to support the intention of that bluff check!

I don't like pupil-less elves, it makes them look like bugs. I also think they should look closer to human because they are close enough in DNA they can interbreed, after all. YMMV, obviously.

No worries on the rolling.

Witchwolf (Shoanti) Brb1/Brawler8; 95/95hp Ini +3; AC24, T17, FF20; F +13, R +12, W +7

Making elves look a little more alien is *why* I like the pupil-less eyes!

I don't think DNA is really a workable concept in fantasy settings where things like demons, angels, and dragons can be mingling in your bloodline, so elves being distinctly not-human but still having children with humans is a pretty easy lift.

As I said, YMMV. It's just not what I envision personally.

Male Human (Varisian) hp 45/56 | AC 22/T 17/FF 15 | CMD 22 | Fort +4 | Ref +7 [+8 v traps] | Will +2 | Init +6 | Perc +13 (+15 to locate traps) | SM +17

I think that both of Laori's looks are fine. The new look is good from a practical standpoint. However, to me, something's a bit... off with the face.

So ya'll know I will be gone from Tuesday next week through most of the following Sunday to Origins and posting time will be limited during that time.

Male Human (Varisian) hp 45/56 | AC 22/T 17/FF 15 | CMD 22 | Fort +4 | Ref +7 [+8 v traps] | Will +2 | Init +6 | Perc +13 (+15 to locate traps) | SM +17

Have a good time, Lantressa!

M Human (Ustalavian) Cleric of Groetus 3/Slum Shaman 1/Evangelist of Groetus 5

Yeah, enjoy!

Male

I forgot to say, have a great time, Lantressa!

This seems like a...uh...opportune moment to ask a question about squick factor. How do people feel about their characters participating in animal cruelty? I’m guessing this is gonna be a “no” (it would be with my group IRL) and it’s easy enough to change without altering the game, but I wanted to check in.

I think it’s meant to be played as comedy in the original, but...yeah...

If anyone would rather discuss this privately, just message me!
