So I had an idea for a neat little PBP that's a bit of a deviation from the norm. Usually I see “no third party material” or, rarely, “third party on a case-by-case basis” in recruitment threads. I understand why, but I know part of it is a stigma/myth that surrounds third party material in many cases. So, yeah, this one is gonna allow a lot of third party material, just for the heck of it.

CHARACTER CREATION:

Ability Scores: 25 Point Buy. This is for fun, so why not, eh?

Hit Points: Max! This goes for any animal companions, mounts, etc, but not for anything you summon with Summon Nature's Ally, Summon Monster, or similar abilities.

Background Skills: These are just nice. We're using them. :)

Level and Starting Wealth: Level 2 and 2,000gp. You've some minor experiences(might have been adventuring, might not) and had a particularly reward venture or investment.

Alignment: Any. However, I don't want people making Chaotic Evil characters. I feel that can be... disruptive and fits villains better.

Magical Item Crafting: Yes, but you have to abide by the 2,000gp limit. In this way you can have items(most likely scrolls or potions, depending on your class/feats) your character made personally, but not enough to outshine the rest of the players.

Races: Paizo's races(ask for higher powered ones if you're interested), and then some 3rd party races. These include Saurians, Entobian, Zif, Oakling, Numistian, Muse, Mogogol, Boggle(no Arcane Craft feat. It's too easy to make the +5 meaningless), Dragonkin, Seedling, Lizardfolk, and Briarborn.

Classes: Dreamscarred Press Psionic classes, Swashbuckler, Warlock, Artisan, Spell-Less Ranger and it's variant Skin-Changer Ranger, Dragonrider, Magister, Scholar, and the wonderful Spheres of Power system, classes, and archetypes.

Traits: Two. You can take a drawback for an extra Trait. You can reflavor the fluff of traits and even the name as long as you link to the original.

Automatic Bonus Progression: You may use it if you want, but it is not required.

The Adventures: I'm thinking either Murder's Mark or Dragon's Demand. Thoughts for other low level adventures?

I'm down.

How about way of the wicked?

Hmm...have you seen ertw's beguiler conversion? Would that be playable? Or only actually published 3pp?

I do not have that one.

I haven't, no. Link?

Main Doc
Inner Seas Options doc for Golarion flavor

This thing is pretty spectacular.

I don't care what we play. I just want to finally play my halfing warlord.

How about a Half-Giant Mystic from Path of War?

Then again, I would also be interested in the Spheres of Power if you would be willing to give me a little help understanding it...

I agree. Approved.

Sadly, while I am crazy I am not so crazy that I'd let in Path of War. I simply haven't looked at it at all.

I certainly can. It's quite easy.

Definitely going to build a Shifter for this. I love shapeshifters, and Shifter captures what I love about them best out of everything I've seen so far.

Sczarni

This sounds really cool. I was thinking of creating a A Mighty Godling . He would be a descendant of Ares, God of War and Strife, though the bloodline has been diminished due to him not being a direct descendant.

Though Ares isn't really a god of war, but rather things that follow war: violence and destruction, the loss of self-control, and the irrational pursuit of glory or revenge.

My character I have in mind would probably have a fiery temper, a big mouth, a drinking problem, a sucker for a pretty face, and a love to fight. Being stagnant before the adventure, he would jump at the first opportunity to show off his might and prowess.

Shadow Lodge

To reiterate, the classes listed in Character Creation are what is available for PCs. I'm using some 3rd party, not opening the flood gates.

ooh, very interesting. Soooo many options.

Oh, also, voting Dragon's Demand because I've done Murder's Mark.

Sczarni

Okay, got it.

Sczarni

Alright, I have looked over some of the classes and I really like the Warlock. However, I feel as if things are missing from it. Like the 1st level gives you two school abilities (Yay!) but only level 1, of course. And currently, there's only 1 level 1 ability (Y--what?).

There's a section where it says you don't have to take a lower power to get a higher power and it gives an example of acid dart. Acid dart is likely a 1st level power, but it doesn't exist. You also get another school ability at second level, but, again, you can't take anything but the 1 ability until 4th level. So, I believe the class is incomplete.

Edit: Acid dart is a cantrip, which, is what you would use your extra school abilities for. Solved.

Shadow Lodge

It's talking about Wizard Schools.

WHAAAAAAAAAAATTTT? Path of War is the most requested third party stuff. How can you not let it in? All I need is the non-expanded stuff.

Path of War

Classes:
Warlord

Disciplines:
Broken Blade Maneuvers
Golden Lion Maneuvers
Steel Serpent Maneuvers
Thrashing Dragon Maneuvers
Veiled Moon Maneuvers

Martal Traditions:
The Wayward Path

This is what I need.

Sczarni

Oh, I see, yes it is. And I know, Path of War is the best thing for martials since weapons.

Shadow Lodge

Sorry, but I've never even looked at the system. All I know is there's supposedly a dex-to-damage feat that's pretty much what Paizo should've done I. The first place.

I promise not to use it but yes, there is. Deadly Agility

Shadow Lodge

I'm fine with allowing just that feat.

Sczarni

Mageknight looks neat and has exactly what I needed from the Godling class, so I'll probably whip one up after I return from test-taking. Though I'll probably get lost in the super-huge system of the Spheres of Greatness.

Thank you sir. Now to pick a race...

Oh well. Dragonrider seems cool. I don't know what Dragon's Demand entails but it sounds like a good choice. Mind if alignment is wider than one step. The description of the steed mentions some dragons are forced into it. I was thinking of having a Choatic or Lawful Good on an ornery Black or Blue respectively. Have them bicker a lot outside of combat. If not I am fine with a metallic. Bronze are always fun.

Shadow Lodge

"Alignment: Though a dragonrider may be of any alignment, he may only bond to dragons within one step of his alignment (see Dragon Steeds, below, for more information)."

Just remember to keep that in mind.

Shadow Lodge

I'm considering taking an Élan Ageis, since path of war was banned (which I find silly)

At first I thought you allowed all third party, but that doesn't actually seem to be the case... I guess my PoW ideas are out of the window. Still, I gotta ask, because I got this crazy idea that I would probably never get to play otherwise, would you allow the Eldritch Godling? I'll understand if you don't though.

Im in dotting

DB3, I will try to look at the Spheres thing, but I have a family reunion this weekend, so hopefully you can be a little patient with me. :)

Shadow Lodge

@MisterLurch: No worries.

@Oyzar: Sorry, but I'm going to be firm on the list of classes I'm allowing.

@Lord Foul II: Thank you for reminding me about the DSP races! I can't believe I forgot them. They are also allowed.

Thinking an incanter from SoP or maybe a hedgewitch.

Grand Lodge

Going elan cryptic for the warlocky feel or xeph marksman mobile fighter cuz I like daggers.

Dotting. I am thinking SoP, not sure what base class or even what Spheres I will go with. There is so much in that system that i have wanted to try but havent had the opportunity.

at first thought, i am leaning towards the creation sphere since it seems fun, but then again i might have a go at Conjuration.

Dotting

Rolling for some stuff:

Gender:
1 - Male
2 - Female

Role:
1 - Martial
2 - Skilled
3 - Arcane
4 - Divine
5 - Skilled Martial
6 - Arcane Martial
7 - Divine Martial
8 - Inquisitor
9 - Magus
10- Bard
11- Druid
12- Roll again

Gender: 1d2 ⇒ 2 Have yet to get male on this roll.
Role: 1d12 ⇒ 6

Hmm, So do I go Bloodrager, Mageknight, or Armorist?

Shadow Lodge

Fun Fact: If you are interested in playing a Paizo class, you'll need a 3rd party archetype from the sources listed above. Otherwise they aren't listed in the possible classes. This was on purpose. ;)

oh, yes, DB3: what is your deadline for submissions?

Shadow Lodge

At the moment I do not have one. Everyone feel free to take your time. Also, before I forget, a little backstory for a character is nice too, but not required.

I have an idea for a dragonkin warlock. Not the most original, but I love the Warlock. All the fun of magic with none of the bookkeeping.

precisely why i love me some Spheres of Power

I could probably get in on Spheres, but I just don't have the time for all the extra reading right now. Plus I already have a fair grasp of where Warlock would take me. I think it would be interesting to see how well I could use it for a melee character given the Dragonkin's Str boost.

Question for the DM:

Since the Dragonkin gives a bonus Cantrip with an elemental subtype to Arcane and Divine Casters, would you give the same to Warlock? Not that it much needs it given the elemental blast most take at lvl 1, but it could possibly come in handy.

Shadow Lodge

Looking at both Dragonkin and Warlock I'm inclined to say yes, as the Warlock is an arcane caster and those are the classes Dragonkin give an extra can trip to.

Sczarni

So the large abilities before the talents are gained, in the spheres of power, when you acquire the sphere. Which costs a magic talent point. I think I'm getting the hang of this system and I'm pretty sure I'll have the fluffiest character.

I wonder if a character can have talents from as many spheres as they need or does it stop at a certain number?

in SoP, you can have as many spheres or talents as your class provides. if your class gives you 15, you can pick 15 spheres; you can pick 1 sphere and 14 talents; or you could pick any mixture thereof.

it's like choosing between being a specialist wizard or a generalist.

Magic here with a very basic character skeleton. Mostly backstory at this point.

Sczarni

You've been

Thunderstruck:

Name: Ruarc, Son of Chaac. Warrior of Rain.
CG Human Mageknight 2
Int +0, Perception +1

DEFENSE
AC: 16, Touch: 10, FF: 16
HP: 26
Fort:+6 , Ref:+0 , Will: +4, +1 vs. spells
Weaknesses: Verbal casting, Emotion casting, Personal Warp, Focused Weather (Precipitation)

OFFENSE
Speed: 20ft
Melee: MW Great Axe +5 (1d12+3) [1d12+4 nonlethal]
When PA, +4 (1d12+6) [1d12+7 nonlethal]
Ranged: +2 touch (1d6)

STATISTICS
Str: 17, Dex: 10, Con: 16, Int: 7, Wis:12, Cha: 16
Base Atk: +2, CMB: +5, CMD: 15
Feats: Power Attack, Enforcer
Traits: Omen, Favored Damage (Electric), Blade of Mercy
Drawbacks: Vainglory
Skills: Swim: Intimidate +9
Languages: Common
SQ: Inherent Divinity (divine), Easy Focus, Warp Sphere + Teleport, Quick Teleport, Destruction Sphere + Destructive Blast, Weather Sphere + Control Weather, 7/day spell pool, 1/day swift action intimidate, Unbreakable (Mystic Combat)

So I learned that the spheres of power offer a Huge array of options, but I think I've done it. I'll have my character's backstory's rough draft done tomorrow sometime. I'll have you know, the rain comes.

Any chance the Masquerade Reveler barbarian archetype by Mark Seifter would be allowed?

Shadow Lodge

As I do not have it, no.

Dotting for an Elven Scholar.
