GM of Set |
Very well, spiders it is =^^= Sorry for the long absences... sigh. work and our country with "loadshedding" Running a game is hard Also, I decided, because of before mentioned issues, to speed up combat, I will take highest initiative of party and roll that vs my monsters in the future
So our 4 adventurers, with their two wards enter, braving the large spiders, they hiss as you start to remove their webs, not pleased with it, you figure it's best to defend yourselves!
GHSSSSSSS!!!!
Initiative of Spiders: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Party Spiders
Since both groups are away of each other, no surprise round, the spiders are 20ft up in the air on their webs
Ausk Swiftstrike |
Ausk aims his bow up at the spiders in their webbing and fires at the nearest one.
Using Rapid shot, Deadly Aim, and Point blank shot on all these attacks.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 13 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (10) + 13 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 20
Damage: 1d8 + 9 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 9 + 4 + 1 = 21
Attack 2: 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (16) + 8 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 21
Damage: 1d8 + 9 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 9 + 4 + 1 = 15
Attack 3: 1d20 + 13 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (17) + 13 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 27
Damage: 1d8 + 9 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 4 + 1 = 16
'Suny' |
Suny drops her sweeping stick and draws the large, fancy sword from its scabbard across her back. Holding it defensively before herself as she stand between the approaching spiders and her ranged wielding friends.
GM of Set |
Ausk completely ventilates the one spider, while his companions seem to fare far less in their attempts to kill the spiders
The one spider launches a web of sicky goo at Marcus, ensnaring him, making him drop down to the floor, completely entangled
RTA Web: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Thud!: 2d6 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8
While the other one skitters down and tries to bite the elf, but miss judged as she fends the spider off with her sword
Chomp!: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (4) + 6 = 10
Both Lillian and the female human stays at the back, Lillian making sure their scared companion is not harmed
Party is up again

'Suny' |
Suny deftly avoids the spiders plunging fangs and swings her sword at it in reply,
Att Roll:1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Dam Roll:1d8 ⇒ 2
"BAD spidey!"
Ausk Swiftstrike |
Ausk turns his attention to the spider that webbed Marcus. He pulls out three more arrows and quickly fires them in quick succession at it.
Using Rapid shot, Deadly Aim, and Point blank shot on all these attacks.
Attack 1: 1d20 + 13 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (12) + 13 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 22
Damage: 1d8 + 9 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 9 + 4 + 1 = 21
Attack 2: 1d20 + 8 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (18) + 8 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 23
Damage: 1d8 + 9 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (7) + 9 + 4 + 1 = 21
Attack 3: 1d20 + 13 + 1 - 2 - 2 ⇒ (9) + 13 + 1 - 2 - 2 = 19
Damage: 1d8 + 9 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 9 + 4 + 1 = 16
Lilah |
Biting her lip anxiously, Lilah makes a split decision and rushes towards Marcus. Using her sharp claws, she attempts to help cut him out of his webbed prison.
Not really sure if I should be rolling attack/damage. If so, it's +6, 1d4+6. Feel free to roll it for me if needed.
GM of Set |
Ausk is very adept at making spiders dead it seemed. Every arrow bringing it closer to death, with the help of Suny, another spider goes down. Riddled with arrows
And with the quick reaction of their young companion, Marcus is cut free from the sticky web. The remaining spider decides this is way too hot for it, scurrying out of the building. Leaving you alone again.
Lillian rushes over, laying her hands on Marcus!
"Are you okay sir? Need healing? That was a nasty fall"

'Suny' |
At work.
As the spider leaves, Suny makes 'shooing' motions at it to hurry its progress along. Once the room is clear of the critters Suny goes back to clearing away webbing. (^_^)
Lilah |
Lilah takes the time to look around the room, making sure there are no more spiders lurking in corners as well as looking for alternative exits.
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (18) + 14 = 32
GM of Set |
Only thing you find, are more very broken things. Some you suspect would have been very valuable if they were still in tact. No windows, the stairs leading up to a second level and of course the door you entered
Lillian and her female companion awaits your decision. It is obvious she tends to stick with Lillian while there is danger a foot

'Suny' |
Suny nods at Ausk's comment, even as she pads cautiously along looking about at everything.
Perception:1d20 + 11 ⇒ (13) + 11 = 24
GM of Set |
On the next floor, you are greeted by a bizarre scene. It looks like an alchemy lab. Lots of tables with all sorts of vials and beakers and all forms of colours in said containers. Yet. That is not what is the strange part. The strange part is, the entire floor is covered in grass. Real, green grass
And as before, on the opposite side of the room is another flight of stairs
say thanks to my table top group for this room and it's unique floor...

'Suny' |
Suny stops when she sees the room's contents. Even going so far as to crouch down and examine the grass closely, sniffing and stroking said weirdness. Once she's assured of its 'mundane' nature, even if its place is out, she happily wanders across, grinning happily as her bare, tanned feet relax amongst the supple fronds. (^_^)
GM of Set |
The contents of most of the vials are long stale. But you find Potions of CMW: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2.
Marcus, on the next floor seems a very strange sight. Many pedastils. Each have a glass globe on it. And in each globe an item
A Helm. Mith runes on it
A Rod of some kind
There seems to be a Bow
An Axe
A Cape
A Medallion
And a Set of Armor
They seem to be arranged in a pattern of some kind. And you feel the air tingle. Even your hair stands on end

'Suny' |
Suny moves up cautiously at Marcus' waving and looks in at what he's found.
Perception:1d20 + 11 ⇒ (9) + 11 = 20
"Oooo! pretty..."
Lilah |
Lilah quietly picks up the vials and stashes them before following everybody upstairs. In response to Ausk's question, she suggests, "A puzzle? Or m-maybe a t-t-trap?"
She starts looking around for things that might potentially zap them if they take a wrong step.
Perception: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (20) + 14 = 34
Also, is there an exit to this room?
GM of Set |
same as before. Stairs at the other end of the room
The orbs glow with very strong evocation magic. You figure that you probably need a word or some other form of key to disable the orbs to get to the prizes inside. Except for 1. One of the orbs seem to be deactivated. And you think it is not trapped
the orb with the rod in it

'Suny' |
Sorry, rilly busy in RL.. ^^'
Suny carefully pads over to the not glowing rod/place.
Perception:1d20 + 11 ⇒ (19) + 11 = 30
"I wonder if'n ye s'posed ta' poke things with this?" She frwons. "Seems a tad stickin' out, if'n ye be askin' me..."
Lilah |
"Well, it d-doesn't seem t-trapped." Lilah nervously tucks one strand of hair behind an ear as she chews on her bottom lip. "May not want to b-bother them w-without the command words t-t-though."
Marcus Ironskin |
"It may be Suny, these other orbs seem to need a key of some kind. Perhaps this rod is the key. Let's give it a try."
Marcus will walk over to the rod as well and take it up and attempt to touch it to one of the orbs.
'Suny' |
(O_o)
"Uh... I weren't meanin' it like all so sudden!" Suny attempts to forestall Marcus brave decision. "I be thinkin' we's need be thinkin' more about whut is all means." She waves a tanned arm around at the shiny stuff about the room.
"There be patterns an', an'.. magic stuffs all abouts..." Suny looks to Lilah,
'Whut were it ye be sayin' about them majic stuffs?"
Ausk Swiftstrike |
Ausk considers the bow for a few moments before turning back to the mission at hand.
"We should take the rod with us, and explore this place fully. There might be clues on how to get these items or we might even find a command word."
Lilah |
And apparently a 34 perception didn't find the trap. :/
With a gasp, Lilah rushes up to Marcus and attempts to heal him.
CLW: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
I have more, but I guess I'll wait to see how badly off Marcus is before continuing to roll.
Marcus Ironskin |
I'm not continuing with this. It was obviously targeting me as it would have flat out killed anyone else. You and Suny dead unless a 20 rolled, Ausk dead, me unconscious. If it was a typo then fine, but as is it seems my character is not wanted even though I'm the most active poster and try and keep things moving. It's a home brew, to put an evocation that strong at this level is sloppy and careless design. Even Suny needs a 20 to make the save. A PM discussion won't help stuff like this should be public it effects all the players. Strong Evocation maybe means a 5 level spell not an intensified 3rd level spell cast at maximum level with some bonus damage that who knows how that got on there.
