Analin nods at Alathea and Kodokura's explanation. "The same understandable mistake I made when I first saw you," she says, looking at Alathea. "But discouraging it is simpler than explaining it to an Aes Sedai more rigid than I."

Analin sniffs. "The girl is no more Aes Sedai than you, and those who follow her are... I will not go so far as to name them traitors to the Tower, but they have lost sight of their duty in the face of the Last Battle. The White Tower should be united in this time of turmoil but instead those women in Salidar have decided now is the time to air their grievances. It is foolishness of the worst sort, and dangerous not just to ourselves and the order but to the entire world."

Litheene wrote:
It is true that his bonding is a secret. Hidding it from you is meaningless, as I doubt we are to leave this place apart. We have much to discuss, about out situation, and what to do. But first, how did you come to be here? And the most important of all,
...

Litheene looks curiously at Analin You traveled the Ways? Are they safe in this world? Few enter them in ours.

Regarding the rest, what you said is exactly what I would just a few months ago, when I first arrived at the Salidari camp, in our world, after we captured a black sister, and went there as it was the closest place to put her in custody. I believe, as you do, that we must unite in face of the real enemies, and I opposed the split. However, since then we learned of Elaida's activity, which was less successful in our world, but non the less destructive. She decided to usurp an Amyrlin, "disbanded" the blue Ajah, and attacked the Dragon. As much as I dislike the idea of in-fighting, her actions can not lead to unity. I support Egwene for one simple reason - Elaida is unworthy of being Amyrlin, and Egwene is the only one who managed to unify a front against her.

Litheene turns to stand directly facing Analin We must win. We, the Tower, we the Light, we the servants of all, who protect the world. Elaida serves non but herself and wrecks the world. The old customs of the Tower gave stability as the Tower ruled he land. The Tower no longer does. It is sad, but true. The Seanchan, the Ashaman, the Dragon followers, the Aiel, the forsaken and the hordes of the Shadow - each of those is a formidable force, some of them potential allies, and each of them capable of rivaling the Tower on it's own. At times of calamity, the Aes Sedai changed, and are changing now again, to survive, and to win. If customs of the Tower prevent me from reaching our to allies against the Shadow, I will abandon them. If they prevent me from protecting the world, I will abandon them, and if they force me, and all of us, into a position of impending loss, I will abandon them, as I already did.

Litheene waves her hand around the room Look at us, look at what we face, and the limited resources we have. I, personally, would love to welcome you to our group, in hopes it remains a group in what is to come. Even though you dismiss me, I respect you as a fellow sister, and the opportunity to learn and join forces wins with me over personal pride. If you choose to help us, as the wheel weaved us together, then be prepared. On one hand be prepared to face madness which even the toughest sisters seldom had the chance to face, and on the other hands, miracles, discovered by our willingness to fight at all costs, beyond the limits of tradition. Litheene looks at Amorial, referencing the Ogier bond weave as one of them. And also know, that I personally, will fight Elaida to free the Dragon, if we stay in this world, or to protect him if we go back to ours. Many among us feel the same.

Alathea wrote:
"Why is it that men amongst your people may wed more than one women, while the women may not wed more than one man? Why must you be wed at all?"

Fiallain laughs softly. ”Men rarely have a say in it. Oh, they might refuse I suppose, but usually once a woman decides she would like another for a sister-wife, it is all but settled so long as both women have agreed. The man is often the last to know about it.”

Alathea wrote:

”Perhaps… she replies, rather dubiously. ”It would be an… unusual thing though, even among my own people. Ryland I do not think would understand at all. Besides, I must know and be certain of my own heart better first, before I can even think of such a course, yes?”

Alathea wrote:

You love Ryland...put him before Rhoekk, bond him if he will have it, wed him if you wish. If you still wish to bond Rhoekk, make sure that Ryland understands that you wish to do so for other reasons. Or if you love him as well, make sure that both understand you before you go further."

Fia nods. ”Your advice is sound, sister. Thank you. I will consider it.” She leans in and embraces Alathea with a fierce hug. ”But how are you holding up? I have been so wrapped up in events and myself, that I have not before asked. I’m sorry.”

Analin shakes her head. "The Ways are not safe for casual travel, no. But my responsibilities required it, so we did."

She listens silently to Litheene's impassioned argument in favor of the Salidar Aes Sedai but finally shakes her head. "The very fact that you can say you would abandon the customs of the Tower if they kept you from fighting the Shadow as you see fit shows me you are no Aes Sedai. Do not imagine you have seen things or fought things I cannot imagine. I have been fighting darkspawn along the Blight since before your mother was born. I know the Shadow and know fighting like few other Greens, much less Aes Sedai. And I would never wish to put aside the customs of the order. The oaths, the customs, are what make us Aes Sedai. Put those aside and we are nothing but a group of channelers."

"Our customs, built up over centuries, are what allow people to look to us for leadership. They are what our reputation is built upon, the bedrock of the White Tower's strength in the face of changing kingdoms and customs. They are what allow Whites to act as trusted arbiters between warring factions. They are what allow Browns to access protected troves of information no one else would be allowed to see. They are what allow every one of us to walk into a place and be known to speak only the truth when we say something is so."

"We serve more than ourselves and our interests. We serve an ideal as much as any ideas. The White Tower is power, harnessed by wisdom and exercised with restraint. If the women in Salidar are as willing to put aside hundreds of years of custom and tradition aside because they do not like who sits on the Amyrlin Seat, they do not understand what it means to be Aes Sedai."

Female Human Seanchan Wilder 2 / Initiate 3 / Aes Sedai 6

The custom of Aes Sedai existed since before the Tower stood, since before the world broke. The Aes Sedai served the world and fought the Shadow. The oats are a necessity, to avoid the fate that swept Seanchan.I do not reject them, and will take them when I have the chance. Yet it was Aes Sedai that decided that new ones will take the oats before claiming the name at one point, when it was needed for the world, and it was Aes Sedai who decided to name Egwene Amyrlin, because the world needed it, because Elaida is not a mere unpleasant ruler, but a menace to the very fate of us all, in her war against the Dragon. She was made Aes Sedai, and then she made others, because this is what the world needs right now. The coming of the Dragon breaks all chains, this is the end of our age. Judging ourselves going forward solely by the standards of this age, without regard to the deeper rooted past, or the needs of the future, is as foolish as raising men Aes Sedai during the breaking, because of the standards of the Age of Legends.

Litheene smiles in a half playful fashion My warning about what follows in our path was not meant to brag. You might have seen more fades than I did, maybe even had more black swords in you than I did. But I am not talking about the blight, I am talking about the end of times, as the pattern breaks. And this is your choice to make. Have you seen a Gronmar before? Have you been to the laboratories of Aginor, where Shadowspawn were made, where Trollocs beg to you with human eyes, and memories of men?

Litheene's hand raises to her neck You saw what the Seanchan did to your friend. There are hundreds of women too old to be accepted to the Tower. If customs hold, and Egwene's ways are rejected, they will be pray to the Seanchan. And then, swollen with an army of channelers they will strike at the Tower and put an Adam around both of our necks. This is the price of putting a tradition that was due in it's time, and now needs to be changed, above the higher legacy of Aes Sedai, to battle the Shadow. Are you willing to pay it?

Female Human Seanchan Wilder 2 / Initiate 3 / Aes Sedai 6

I think you mean Grey Ajah sometimes instead of White. White is about logic and reason, and grey about negotiations. P.S. Gronmar is homebrewed, and was never seen before in this age, if ever, as far as we know

Our quarry is ancient, he was a Legend in the Age of Legends. If my research and assumptions so far are correct, he is some sort of Ta'averen not seen since the War of Power. The differences in this world and our world seem recent, our friends are different, they appear different, they act different than what we knew of them. However, the Age of Legends does not seem to have such differences. Perhaps the War of Power shattered time and space and from there reality splintered off, the Dark One's release creating these ripple effects which pushed forward in time. Mind you, this is all conjecture and none of it may be true at all! I will say no more as I need to search through more of these books and perhaps more beyond that. Our time here grows short. Come with me, I will skim the texts for what I seek. I wish you to seek out the name Ishar Morrad Chuain amongst the texts".

Analin shakes her head. "The very fact that you use the coming of the Dragon as an excuse to lay aside the oaths you have not yet taken shows me you do not deserve the title. The Last Battle and the rebirth of the Dragon Reborn are reasons to hold tighter to our oaths, not reasons to ignore them. To be Aes Sedai is to serve an ideal, and the oaths and our traditions are what make us what we are."

"Training women older than we typically take them is a fine suggestion, not a reason to break from the White Tower entirely." She nods in the direction Merdrith had gone. "And your suggestion that the shawl is some sort of protection from the Seanchan is clearly false. Just because the Seanchan enslave women who aren't strong enough for the shawl is no reason we should take them in."

Female Human Seanchan Wilder 2 / Initiate 3 / Aes Sedai 6

I did not lay the oats aside, I intend to take them on the first opportunity, and pay attention to keeping them even now. Aes Sedai are not made by a terangreal, but by their values. Would the destruction of the oat rode mean the end of the White Tower? If you see me violate the three oats, I will cease calling myself Aes Sedai.

Taking older novices is a change in the initiation and training process of the White Tower. The Shawl is not a protection from Seanchan, taking those women is simple reason. They will either be novices, or Damane. And Damane are a threat to the Tower and the world. If they are part of the Tower, they are united with us, and stand a better chance. Nothing can promise success

Regardless, the most pending question is about the Dragon. The REAL reason for the breaking of the Tower, is Elaida. She is not interested in a unified front against the Shadow. She wants the Dragon on a leash, and the Blue disbanded. Egwene does not call for disbanding the Red, and is willing to cooperate with the Ashaman and the forces of the Dragon for the better of the world. There is no middle ground of opposing both the split and the capture of the Dragon anymore. Tar Valon is a military fortress now. Are you suggesting going there and talking to Elaida to set him free, or do you think it is a matter that can just be left as it is? This world is yours more so than mine. What path do you see for saving it?

As Litheene speaks, she grows mildly distracted, throwing a glance in Amorials' direction, who appears to be in a conversation with Rhoekk. What happened there? Did they discover something?

Amorial turns to Rhoekk, "Here is what I have learned thus far. The Grey Man is not a creation of the Dark One but something, else... In the book I located entitled Journey's with Someshta, it was written that the Grey Man is the color of ash. From him, there is an absence of smell. The book though damaged and incomplete had a few quotes from the Grey Man himself, the first ..."the light and the dark stand at my door, yet both are equal in my eyes." The second, "fire burns and consumes, but begets new life. The sun shines brightest, but shadow exists. To have a whole, you must have half. Speak to me in parts to have entirety." From another tome I uncovered, An Evening with the Grey Man, the writer states that the grey man seeks to form a Balance. He is neither good nor evil but seeks to evoke change when the balance tips too far, he led the Aes Sedai to the Bore breaking the Dark One free...".

Amorial pauses and sighs, "The implications are stunning here are they not?"

The Ogier lets the question hang for a brief moment before he continues, "The War of Power was the tipping point, and everything that came after, the breaking, the Longing for the Ogier, all that was necessary. Do you see? This Grey Man has effected the world in profound ways, should this tome be true, at any rate. This leads me to my first query, is the Grey man a Ta'averen that he can effect change so profoundly?"

Amorial takes hold of the book that Rhoekk found, "To those that seek him out, they are left without. to those that do not seek him, are left within. This is what leads me the prior line of thought. To encounter him is to be changed leading to my next query, can the dreaming Aes Sedai locate the Grey Man via their Dreams? Seeking him within may be the way to locate him without being effected by his powers to manipulate the Pattern around him". Amorial grins at the thought.

"But then I would need to journey with them, if that is possible I do not know. Moving along. As a young Ogier I sat at the stump of the elders and they would often quote to me from a figure who was active during the Age lf Legends, Ishar Morrad Chuain, who wrote that "one could use the thought process of cause and effect to affect great change amongst the world". Query was Ishar a scholar or companion of the Grey Man? If so, more of his writing could be illuminating, he may have indeed believed that these things were true due to his time with the Nym. This is why I need you to try to locate such a book Rhoekk. If you can also look for other tomes which may discuss other Nym besides the Green and Grey man".

"In the meantime, there is a book about Ta'averen that I need to read through though I do not know which of the Aes Sedai pocketed it, I will need it back. Litheene has a book on the Creator, The Wheel and the Pattern, again I will need to retrieve that from her".

Amorial practically shakes with excitement as he looks at the Aiel warrior again, "The heart of the matter we need to uncover is where would the Grey Man be now based on the state of the world at War and second is the Grey Man a direct product of the Creator himself? If he is, he may be able to tip the scales bringing balance back into the world again!"

RIZZEN:
Per our PM's, the roll above is to answer the last few questions based on what I have learned. Obviously as I do further research from the two books I mention above, the puzzle may become more clear yet.

Deftly steping over a puddle, she now stands before a door.

the door itself is quite plain to see, a simple brass handle, iron bound with wooden slats. but recent events have caused the iron to become exposed to water and develop a slight red sheen. the brass, once brilliant in color, now has a dull overtone.

looking at her wall once more, she ties off the strands of Air and releases the Source.best not be holding onto that when I step through. I might be stilled, by the transition or Him, i am not sure

pulling the door open, she sees only a black film. Smiling, she reaches out and gently touches the film, seeing it bend slightly to her gentle pressure. with a final look at the wall, ensuring the knot is hidden, she steps through the film...

and into a cold examination room. A gorgeous woman stands off to the side, while a man sits at a desk in the corner.
lanfear, and Moridin. she thinks to herself

it appears that your quarry has moved from one mirror realm to another. By that crazy loon Alastair. the man, Moridin, says while looking at a file.

Alastair is a joke! Lanfear snaps back.

In that world, he is. but what about this one? Moridin says as he stands up, laying the file onto the desktop.

Alastair was once Nae'Blis, the one we all strove to undermine at the start when the Dark Lord came through the Bore. But he is also the only one to remove the Oaths that were bound to us by the Dark Lord. He knows us, he knows all of our weaknesses, or strengths. Blood and Ashes he even trained all of us to better serve the Dark Lord.
Moridin begins to walk back and forth, anger upon his face.

He was given our Lords gift of immortality, this much is true. but whether he fully broke away from the Oaths while maintaining the prevention from the Taint remains to be seen. His greatest threat to us IS his knowledge of the mirror realms. Bloody- we arent even sure if He is present in all the realms, or if there is only one, and he has multiple personas.

walking up to the door across from the black void, he opens it up to a scene of carnage and destruction.
you can still see where he created a sort of fake-portal stone to bring these realmers from our realm to this one. he sweeps his hand out, and there, etched into the floor, is a large circle and various runes and shapes etched into the floor.

beyond, the far wall, a large hole has been smashed into a wall. a large baleful yellow eye fills the hole, its gaze looking upon those within.

but all is not lost. apparently one of these creatures that were created here has a brain. it has informed me that one of them suffered a Souvra ransee. That must be interesting, carrying him around. moridin finishes as he closes the door.

walking over to another door, he opens it up to the sight of human misery and insanity. 20 naked humans and 10 trollocs sit around a table eating the remnants of other humans and trollocs. several Myrddrall stand chained to the wall, sweating.

you have done barely well in finding and following them here. but barely. But, with Alastair in the mix, things are now different. If Alastair is involved, he wants something. Something even you, mogheiden, do not know. He is hidden from your spider webs, his is hidden from Lanfears dreamings. He is even hidden from me, and I am Nae'blis now. The Dark Lord is silent on this one. When i went and visited him here in this realm, he told me to not interfere too much in this realm, but when i brought up Alastair, he remained silent. We must find these interlopers, but we must find Alastair and prevent him from meeting up with this group. Do not fail me, or you shall be on the table. Moridin says with finality.

My lord lanfear speaks up. there is a residue here in this very room... she waves her hand, and then a circular outline is shown, dull white in color. it appears that they have travelled.

no, do not attempt to follow them from here. you may survive the journey, you may not. You know how difficult and next to impossible it is to Travel from within a stasis field. you have to know the time you are at, the time where you want to be, along with where you are now and your location to be.

Clearly our next step is to lure Moghedien to Nynaeve - to whom amorial gives an extra a'dam, just in case she needs it. ;)

Amorial looks around the room engrossed as he was in his research he was paying little attention to who else was around him. "Where has everyone gone?"

Is Litheene in the same room or any of the other Aes Sedai besides Analin who does not have the books Amorial is looking for :-)

Female Human Initiate 5/Aes Sedai 6

Analin shakes her head. "You will not call yourself Aes Sedai because you are not Aes Sedai, not because you violate oaths you have yet to take. The Oath Rod is not the Tower, but the oaths are the heart of the Aes Sedai. You show a fundamental lack of understanding about what it means to be Aes Sedai. If this is how Salidar sees the oaths there is no doubt who the true Aes Sedai are."

"I have no intention of returning to Tar Valon, as I have other duties that require my attention elsewhere. You keep bringing the discussion back to the Dragon Reborn- are you dragonsworn? I had heard some sisters were followers of the Dragon Reborn. Is all of Salidar so focused on him?"

I don't think there were any dragonsworn sisters until after Dumai's Wells in the books, so there wouldn't be any in this world, but I can believe there would be rumors about Aes Sedai following him.

"I can see a very immediate use, depending on how far back these doors can lead into someone's memories," Ryvin says.

She hesitates, then harrumphs and shrugs.
"Keelix, are that sul'dam and her licksp -- Merdrith anywhere within hearing range? Them or Analin?"

Provided the answer is no, Ryvin visibly steels herself, then beckons the others close and whispers to them.

Whispers:
"There is a thing I found out, a thing you all should know. But I refuse to breathe word of it near potential enemies! Amorial already knows, and I have every intention of telling everyone else in our group, but I had to pick the right moment.

When I was... hurt in the dream, when I was attacked - you know how my legs were broken when we were at Salidar - that was done by a woman who somehow seemed familiar from both my time at the Tower and my stay in the Seanchan kennels. I do not understand how that can be. I suspect my memories might have been tampered with in the Dream... or else they have been altered while I was awake. It is very confusing.

Before I was rescued, that woman called me something. She called me by a name, Suli, what I was called as a damane. But she added to that a title, which Amorial translated for me yesterday. I do not see how it could be possible, but the title translates as... as 'royal daughter of Lanfear and the Dragon'.

Ryvin steps back from the others and slowly spreads her arms wide, keeping her hands away from her swordhilt.

"It seems like complete and utter nonsense," she says. "But my memory is now in question. If these doors really can lead into memory, and if what they show is true... I might be able to find out once and for all what this is about. I tell you honestly, I only remember growing up in Ebou Dar with my Da, my Mum and my sisters, but I would like to know for sure.

If I go through one of those doors and I come back... wrong... can I count on you all to deal with it?"

Alathea holds up a hand. "Perhaps we need not go in blunderingly... Let me take a look at these keys and doors. With study, I think that I might be able to learn how to use them, yes?"

Alathea intends to use the "Identify Ter'Angreal" feat, but I don't know what book it's from and hence how it works. Could someone give me a pointer on how to proceed?

Alathea:
New Feat: Identify Ter’Angreal (The Taint Discussion #100) & (Dragon Reborn #585)

The wheel weaves as the wheel will, and there are those that are truly blessed. These are the ones with the most uncommon, the most rare of abilities, correctly identifying ter'angreal. Those with the lost ability are hunted by the White tower, if even the rumor is heard, the Amrylin will dispatch a sister and 50 soldiers to secure this unique individual for their own safety.

Identify ter'angreal allows the PC to identify what the ter'angreal does, its capabilities, any bonuses, and special abilities, simply by touch.

This feat does not protect the PC from those ter'angreal that are activated by touch, or any other actions the pc may take in approaching, moving, or channeling around the ter'angreal.

Identify ter'angreal will identify an angreal, but not allow the pc to know its rating. A sa'angreal will be identified as an angreal.

"I'm right grateful for the help, Alathea, but I would insist you and Fiallain wait out here," Ryvin says. "Not because I don't trust you or some such foolishness, but exactly because I do trust you; someone will need to be here to make sure the door isn't closed on us... and someone needs to be here in case we have to run ahead of something nasty or in case I'm... corrupted."

The Ebou Dari makes a face at the latter notion.

When Kodokura shows up, Ryvin shoots him a quick glance... then shrugs.

"Yeah, just doing some research," she says in a bland tone.

Fia followed Alathea into the room, curious as to what her sister might discover and how she planned to go about doing so. At Kodo's arrival, she looked at Alathea and Ryvin. But at Alathea's welcome and Ryvin's... 'bland' acceptance, she too nodded.

the room

alathea, ryvin, fia and kodokura step into the room.

light pours into the room from the open door, but where the light ends, absolute darkness takes over.
perhaps we should have a torch ryvin says out loud, her voice sounding strange, almost disjointed.
Keelix, from the doorway, is quick to respond. pulling a hanging lap from the wall, he steps into the room with the others. its light pushes back the darkness, but barely.
it wasnt like this when i came in. keelix admits.
What did you do? alathea asks, urging the wolfbrother to repeat his actions.
well, i stepped across the hall, opened the door, slipped inside and then quietly shut it. keelix says, closing the door.
before he can close it all the way, someone suddenly pushes the door open and then closes it.
as soon as the door is shut, the darkness flees away, and instead of being muted, the light from the lamp intensifies. The person who pushed into the room is Merdrith.

the lamps yellow light shines brightly throughout the room, revealing a room with 13 walls. set within each wall is a door. lines, etched into the floor, divide the room up into 13 sections, with each line dividing the distance between each door precisely.
In the middle of the room, where all the lines converge stands a pedestal. on the pedestal sits 12 keys, each made of a different material. gold, silver, lead, granite, marble, oak, pine, maple, iron, steel, glass and an unknown.
