Hullric Torsol |
Knowledge (Religion): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
Hullric accepts the blessing of another god, as The Lantern King is not apposed to it but thinks nothing of it really.
He enjoys the meal, having a nice roast with potatoes and carrots accompanied by a glass of red wine. He still eats and drinks with his mask on, but only slightly lifts his mask to enjoy his meal when taking a bite or sip.
When given a note for the next mission, he takes to he vial of holy water and uses it on the door when it is called for.
He has his dagger out when exploring the crypt, expecting a possible undead encounter.
He moves to the next door and opens it when the rest reveal they are ready.
Vili Borrson |
Vili decides to forgo dinner and head to bed preparing for the trip.
Vili spends the trip copying the extracts from Wilens book.
Vili will set himself up in the middle of the party so he can hit things without hitting others.
Wilen Proudbrew |
Wilen likewise retreats from the dinner, and spends the trip swapping formulas with Vili.
He also prepares different extracts for the next day which minimize his splash damage.
targeted bomb admixture x2, should help lower the collateral :D Ready to go!
Galdur XXII 'Fichead sadhà' |
Galdur XXII enjoys the mash and schnitzel before excusing himself to visit another table. "That master jeweler there is fashioning Princess Eutropia's crown for this season. He nods to Remaio. "In fact all the Stavian crowns have been done by the family and they run is the oldest jewlry shop in Taldor"
The young dwarf walks over to the woman in the other booth. "Hi mom... He catches her up on his first assingment as a Pathfinder and hears about the family happenings, life in Oppara, and things in general before returning to his friends.
The next week he seems much less maudelin but that ends when he enters the tome. "I'll go second, he says casting tbe spell which causes arcane plates to armor him.
did someone succeed/share the Knowledge checks from above?
Wilen Proudbrew |
Vili: remember to send Wilen the bill for whatever formulae you copied: 10gp each (for saving his hide earlier during this adventure)
GM: much of our look was unclaimed by party members - safe to say we sold it off before the trip and split? (I assume we would take the potions of CLW, though I didn't see anybody claim them).
The Dire GM |
Galdur: Ayri passed the Knowledge checks regarding the tomb (I don't think anyone tried the Engineering though) and stated that she would share all that she learned, so you can all look under the spoilers.
Wilen: If you'd like to make purchases now by "selling loot", we can count it against the gold you'll be earning on your chronicle sheet, if that works for you?
~~~~~
Once everyone is ready, Hullric opens the door:
Somber statues of Alcastis past line this hallway, their hands broken apart and lying at their feet. A pile of shattered rubble (gray X on the map) lies strewn across the floor, the stone pierced through with abandoned spears and swords. The air is thick with dust and neglect.
Map is updated.
Wilen Proudbrew |
Wilen: If you'd like to make purchases now by "selling loot", we can count it against the gold you'll be earning on your chronicle sheet, if that works for you?
Ah, that's right. Only what's on the chronicle sheet comes out in the end. Still a little new to PFS. I'll make sure to track this stuff as "temporary", and never mind on the selling.
After Hullric opens the door, Wilen inspects the visible statues and pile of rubble.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (7) + 6 = 13
"The weapons all belonged to the statues, but given this there is one longsword unaccounted for. There are the Alcasti pegasus seals as usual on the weapons. Also, the rubble gives me hints that there was a statue of a dog as well."
Wilen Proudbrew |
After examining the statues for all he could see, Wilen then inspects the path forward for traps.
Noticing a missing weapon as well, Hullric lets Wilen search for traps before moving forward to the other door. If nothing happens, he opens the door to move onward.
Vili pulls out his mutagen and moves up with them.
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (20) + 8 = 28
I thought someone had, but didn't see info unspoilered... I got it now. ;)
"Uhm. Can anyone wield this?" Galdur picks up one of the spears and a sword. "I hear it to Vili," clutching the sword closely.
Unfortunately, nothing more can be learned until the door is opened and you all enter the next chamber. When you do...
Stairways lead up to a marble dais, where rotted wooden offerings lie in splinters. The tiles of the floor are scorched black, and the smell of magical ozone fills the air. A sickly pale glow sputters amid a pile of debris, illuminating a shattered sword upon the ground. In the chamber’s walls, rows of niches bear ceramic urns labeled with bronze plaques. A repetitive grinding sound echoes through the chamber, erratic and yet unceasing.
The grinding sound and pale glow come from the tomb’s last remaining guardian. The ruined guardian clings to life, vainly attempting to perform its duty. Formerly a statue of a proud, doglike creature, it now lies in fragments, only able to move its intricate metal frame with its magical animating force. The guardian’s jaws spark wildly as the disparate pieces drag themselves towards you, struggling to destroy the intruders!
Other than that, it will likely follow patterns Ayri identified in ancient Taldan tombs earlier in this adventure, and has the general shape of a metallic dog.
"Wilen, do you need a hand with those?" asks Altorin wryly as he sends a scintillating ice ball down the hall.
Is it just me or are post previews not working today?
Galdur XXII 'Fichead sadhà' |
Galdur moves cautiously forward, taking the farther set of steps. He stops at the top of the stairs casting magic into the sword and giving the pegasus a sapphire glow. "I don't suppose a letter from another Alcosti will convince you we are not just thieves?" he asks to the room in general.
Casting magic weapon. Edit: no preview for me either.
The Dire GM |
Previews weren't working for me either - making the rolling of saves and then posting the results odd, heh.
Also, Wilen, you're not up again for a bit...but I'll let you keep that roll if your action is the same when it is your go again!
Wilen Proudbrew |
[ooc]Also, Wilen, you're not up again for a bit...but I'll let you keep that roll if your action is the same when it is your go again!
Right-o. Logged the action a bit early. I'll replace the action if the hand gets close enough to an ally for the splash damage to be an issue, or if it's already defeated.
Vili Borrson |
Vili will throw a bomb at the dog like creature.
The Dire GM |
Necuametl ponders what to do as the guardian staggers forward towards the closest enemy - Hullric, ignoring Galdur's quip!
Meanwhile, the remaining stone hand "thing" scuttles forward and attempts to throttle the halfling that threw a bomb at it!
Wilen Proudbrew |
Welp, that does mean that Wilen scratches his premature action. That would be a wide swath of splash damage. This should be safe to log early.
Wilen just bounces to the side as the animated statue hand lurches to grapple his throat. He dashes to the stairs behind Hullric and pops one of his extracts.
Consume targeted bomb admixture. For the next round: When you throw bombs, they can only hit a direct target; they do not splash. However, the bomb deals its base damage plus double your Intelligence modifier instead of just its base damage plus your Intelligence modifier.
Hullric looks down at the damaged mechanical dog, "Looks like you are hurt. Let me put you out of your misery."
Hullric then tries to jam his dagger into the dog's joints.
Dagger vs Guardian: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Wilen drinks, Necuametl misses, and Hullric hits...but his dagger doesn't seem to do nearly as much damage as he was expecting it to!
Ayri, Altorin, Vili, and Galdur are still up!
Galdur XXII 'Fichead sadhà' |
The young dwarf runs down the other stairs to close on the guardian. "We are returning these to the descendants of those you guard. Please, let us talk this out."
Double move. Also ooc: I know talking isn't likely an option."
Vili Borrson |
Remembering how bad he hurt his new friends last time vili will hold his action.
Ayri Fukai-Sagashi |
Ayri steps away from the grasping hand and calls forth a spear made of protruding roots boring down from the ceiling. The wood spear launches from its mooring toward the hand.
"Keep your- yourself to yourself!"
Bomb fire damage, targeted bomb admixture: 1d6 + 8 ⇒ (1) + 8 = 9
Noooooo splash damage! I think I'll be making a lot more use of this extract going forward.
Galdur XXII 'Fichead sadhà' |
"By the Power of Gray..." Galdur raises the pegasus blade over his head and brings it down on the creature. Gawd. I really, really hope the others don't think I am still a little kid, he mentally pouts.
Klunk: 1d20 - 1 - 4 + 1 + 2 ⇒ (1) - 1 - 4 + 1 + 2 = -1, Knulk: 1d8 + 1 - 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 - 1 = 3 presuming flanking bonus, but maybe not if H is prone.
Oh Gawd, he says looking at the sword. Is this thing even on? Now they will really think I am a little kid.
The Dire GM |
Wilen's bomb strikes true, but the Guardian remains standing! Galdur's blade swings...and goes juuuust a bit wide.
Ayri, Altorin, Vili, Hullric, and Necuametl are still up!
NECUAMETL COATL |
Necuametl swings with the furry nature behind him....
Hullric Torsol |
Wincing from the bite and electrical shock, Hullric stands back up. Recognizing he can't really do much damage to this thing. Since his last attack was with all of his force and it seemed to do nearly nothing to it. Hullric leaps off the stairs and rolls out of the way.
It slams into the wall just to the left of Galdur's head with such force it explodes into a thousand splinters.
Seeing Galdur look up she points an accusatory finger at Wilen.
Galdur XXII 'Fichead sadhà' |
Galdur manages to block a few of the shattered missiles, but only because the blade is nowhere near where he was aiming. "Gawd! With these bombs already."
I didn't know the trees could deal splash damage too, he worries.
<3 Ayri
Attack of Opportunity on prone Hullric: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (7) + 5 = 12
Hullric's standing up in the middle of combat almost costs him his head, but he barely manages to slip away as Necuametl and Ayri both miss the metal guardian!
Altorin and Vili are still up!
