Kingmaker Table 1

Fwey--1020

Bronan:

"Sorry to hear that," Lars says, still more to the horse than Bronan. Turning his head to the man, he says, "Don't worry, she'll be well looked after. That'll be three silver a day to lodge, feed, and brush your horse," he pauses before continuing, "and I'll need the first coin now for insurance."

Galdor answers Bronan, "Gold! And lots of it! We've been mining here for generations, and we still haven't even surveyed the entire vein. It's one of the main reasons Krisol is such a success."

Don't worry I haven't forgotten the rest of you, I'm at school.

"Oh, sure thing." Bronan pulls a gold piece out of his bag and hands it to Lars. "Also some food I think. And drinks later most likely."

Kingmaker Table 1

Odd'n:

Skullscar gladly follows Odd'n especially when he hears of drink. He answers sternly, "I'm not saying you weren't abandoned, I'm just telling you what I know."

He continues about the bandits, "I'm afraid I haven't been out of Fwey since I was a boy, I don't know anything about your Wish or his flunky."

And about the feather, "That is a beautiful thing..." takes it gingerly in his hands, then cups them around it, "No, it hasn't lost it's lustre, it's just too bright out to see it! It's really quite bright!"
Odd'n would've figured out at this point that the closer it is to high noon, the brighter the feather shines (that's why it blinked at midnight)

And finally, on the cactus, "Oh no, I've seen far too many friends misuse the Poppy Seed tears to want to take part myself."

As they walk on, they search for Rory, but have trouble finding him. "Probably went back to the mines," Skullscar says, shrugging it off. He then leads our hero to the Common for drinks. Map Updated

Odd'n, mirthful and joyous with his new friend, follows Skullscar into the Common for drinks, hopeful that Rory remembers the earlier mention of ale. While Skullscar searches for seats, Odd'n takes note of those in the room as he places the feather back in the bottle and the bottle back into his bag.

After hearing that there was no reward out for killing 'The Wish' I frown. "Well in that case, do you have any sort of general store? I could stand to purchase a few more things, and perhaps sell a few."

I think to myself Oh well, I can always just kill him on the way back and see if I can find if a magic item made him such a good archer.

Kingmaker Table 1

Mikaiela
The man picks up the note and reads it. He doesn't even hesitate to reach in his pocket, put down a copper piece, pick up a slice of bread and smell it, inhaling deeply. He smiles and nods at Mika can I call you Mika? An 8 letter name is going to seem longer if I have to write it out every time before taking a bite. As it enters his mouth and tastes it his eyes roll back before closing, and--forgetting himself--he says something to Mika with a full mouth.

Read Lips DC 15:
"This is amAzing"

Bronan:

"Didn't you hear me? I said lodge, feed and brush. Feed includes water." Recieving the coin, he hands it back saying, "I said three silver coins, are you trying to get me robbed? I'm sure you mean well, but if you want to add gratuity, an extra few coppers'll do." The gruff man does his best to make his point without insulting Bronan, but it becomes very apparent that Lars' moral and personal constitution is high on the list of reasons why Nani trusts him to run the Common.

Odd'n & Mika:

"Heh, we sit where we can! Ya know, this early in the day the dining room may be empty." He leads Odd'n through the open kitchen, past some very pungent-smelling bread (and the pretty young baker responsible for it) into a large room fitted with a long oak table and matching chairs. The new furniture stands in stark contrast to the old stone that surrounds it; even the smells of the hewn wood still emanate from it.

Garret:

"The closest thing we have to a store 'round here," the guard says disappointedly, "is Lars at the Common," he points at the eastern building. "He has a few necessities, but nothing very special. I'm sure he'd be happy to take some things off you though...even if he can't pay very well..."

Mikaiela unfortunately shook her head, writing further on the piece of paper he apparently wrote to her on.

Further Written Comment:

I'm sorry, but I reserve nicknames for friends only. If Mikaiela is too much, Miss Surris will do just as nicely, although it isn't really shorter. Sorry again~!

As she slid the note back, her new facial expression became the closest thing to a comical cat smile one could possibly emulate, tenting her fingers all the while.

However, she was promptly interrupted by the man's awkward manners and attempted speech. She tried to see if she could make out what he said.

Realizing his compliment, she responded.

{Only the finest for my breads! It is better that way.}

She signed the reply with flourish, looking very proud of herself. It was then that she noticed Odd'n and Skullscar, and lightly bowed towards the man whom partook of her bread, excusing herself to go and see if the others would need something made...

...which meant getting an NPC waiter / waitress to do it. After all, the layabouts who also work in the Common for money should be considered for the task before she, the chef de cuisine! (In her own selfish and biased opinion of course!)

After a brief moment of silence, in which she looked to see if any waiters / waitresses were present, she suddenly snapped her fingers extremely loudly (a great attention grabber if nothing else), to see if she could get the attention of one who didn't seem occupied at the moment. She put her best friendly smile on to look non-intimidating, just in case her status and garb inspired such awe.

"What about what Umaveti said, about ifrits killing others on a whim? Was he just being mean or is there some truth to it?" Slapping Skullscar on the back, Odd'n follows behind the man enjoying the scent of the kitchen as they pass through. His eyes follow his nose to the loaf, then up towards the lady he presumes is responsible for baking such a delicious smelling treat.

She looks pretty enough, but something about her makes Odd'ns skin crawl. Something in the back of his mind tells him to avoid this young lady, this person clad in all black. This loaf.. it smells.. too good! Nothing as such would be found in a place like this!, he thinks to himself as he is looking around the wrecked building. Lightly pushing Skullscar in the shoulder Odd'n mutters to the man to hurry up, "Can we.. can we get out of this kitchen..? Something about that.. woman. She is too silent.. that bread.. to strange.. in this place.."

As they emerge from the kitchen and into the common room, Odd'n proceeds to step ahead of Skullscar and lead him to the seats furthest from the kitchen; Odd'n intentionally taking the seat facing AWAY from the mysterious and frightening cook. Clearly unnerved, Odd'n begins fiddling with his gauntlet straps; "So, uhm, ale.. what should ah, get..? That cook... strange... uhm, don't you think? "

His mind, once again running from one thought to the next due to his anxieties, remembers how prayer calmed him before. Forcing himself to cease his jabbering, Odd'n closes his eyes and mutters a brief prayer to Milani for guidance and peace of mind; Protect me this day from the evils that ferment & rise in the kitchen. Ensure my safety.. and sanity.. so that I may protect others much the same..

Now, as before, his anxieties wane as he finishes his prayer. A little more focused, Odd'n lets his mind return to Skullscar and the task at hand. "Yes.. strange.. yes, but uhm.. anyway.. Skullscar, have you seen a young efret.. ifret.. whatever they are called-- those men made of flame-- around town? We are here to fetch the son of the mayor of Krisol.."

"My apologies." Bronan stares sheepishly at the floor. He takes back the gold piece and pays the proper amount, including the suggested tip. "So, uh, the food is through here is it?" he mumbles as he shuffles further into the building in search of repast, Caltrop in tow.

Distractedly looking back over his shoulder, Bronan nearly crashed into the bar. He looks up a the lady behind it, smiles, and asks "Excuse me, but could I get whatever's the special today if it's not too much trouble? A day on the road has left me famished."

Kingmaker Table 1

Fwey--1030
Mikaiela, Odd'n, & Bronan
After consuming the bread, the slovenly gentleman loses his courage, looks at the sun, and runs out of the common. Unfortunately, the Common is not a high-class establishment, nor is it in a very wealthy town. Lars generally runs the whole thing himself save for the kitchen where Mikaiela works, her snapping fingers attract the innkeeper's attention, and he comes in, following Bronan from outside.

Sign Language:
I saw them go in dear, I have them
Lars' calloused hands communicate to Mikaiela. "Bronan, I'm afraid Miss Surris is deaf, but I'll let you know, that we don't have much in the way of specials," the big man sniffs, "Although that bread isn't usually on the menu, she's quite the baker this one," he jabs his thumb toward her. He looks and finds the note on the counter, "Copper for a slice 6 for the loaf; otherwise we have regular bread, cheese, ale, and salted pork." This last bit he says loud enough for Odd'n & Skullscar to hear from the dining room.

Skullscar answers Odd'n, "Who Mikaiela? Of course she's silent! She's deaf! Haha! And no stranger than an old half-orc with one dead eye and a dent in his head!" He says putting his finger in his scar. "Ale for us, Cap'n!" The burly half-orc calls to Lars. When he sees Lars move to the keg to fill a pair of tankards, he answers, "You talk of Minah, nice boy, he's probably around here somewhere. Usually studying in his room." He points to the southwest.

Gwyn
Nina smirks at Gwyn's manners, "Yes he's perfectly right, if a little generalized. Some clans of wild ifrits, as we call them, don't see anything wrong with killing others. Their system of belief is that of true and perfect freedom. If they see anyone as a threat to their freedom, they simply dispatch of said people. Some clans see anyone who follows a system of laws as a threat to their freedom. It's really quite horrific." She says all this as matter-of-fact as a professor teaching a course.

Sense Motive DC15:
Amongst the flame in Nani's eyes Gwyn can see an exhaustion that she hopes she never experiences.

...but quickly replaced it with a confused head tilt, not quite able to make out what Bronan was saying by lip reading. She adjusted her glasses slightly, and signed an assumptious reply.

{... ... ...? ... ... ... ... ...! ... ... ... ... ... ..., ... ... 1 ... ... ... ..., ... ... ... ... ... ...}

Translation:

{You want food? Then try this bread here! In case you missed the memo, it is 1 copper for a slice, and 6 for the full loaf.}

She seemed to be very skilled with her hands, and could probably do a number of other things with them easily. While her signing was brisk, the mention of 1 (likely the copper as per the paper) was easy to come by. Personal skill in Linguistics was needed to understand anything further however.

"Perhaps no more strange than you or I, but strange in another fashion. I can't say I'm comfortable around her, as short a time as its been." Odd'n digs into his pocket and pulls out an assortment of coin, Gold: 1d6 ⇒ 6 Silver: 1d6 ⇒ 3 Copper: 1d6 ⇒ 5, and hands them over to Skullscar. "Pay the man what its worth, perhaps order some simpler loaf and cheese.. and keep the ales coming with the rest!

Shifting in his chair, Odd'n draws the conversation back to Minah; "How well do you know Minah? Isn't it odd for a nobles son to find himself in a small town such as this? I can't see myself finding comfort amongst the wealthy, much the same I can't imagine the wealthy finding comfort amongst our sort..!"

In addition to being socially troubled, Odd'n clearly hasn't grasped the concept of currency all that well yet. He understands gold is better than silver is better than copper, but doesn't know the value as much due to his short time as a free man-- thus his lack of concern about throwing money about. Let's hope he learns before he puts himself BACK in the poor house!

Kingmaker Table 1

M, O, & B:

@Mikaiela: Yes, until you learn "lip reading" as a language (requires a rank in linguistics), then it'll only have an associated DC if they're not talking directly toward you.

"Minah's been here often. Have you met Nina, our town-head? She's his auntie, so he visits. You should know that Minoj's family isn't nobility. He was elected mayor because he treats the higher-ups well. All that said, Minah finds comfort around all sorts, he's a sweet boy that way."

Six gold, three silver, and five copper is enough to feed half the town lunch, so Odd'n and Skullscar are fed to the brim, and are piss drunk after they're through. Lars doesn't complain though, he has enough to pay for refurbishment on the Common. Heck, might even attract some of the more wealthy folk from Krisol, doubtful as that may be.

Feeling the warm confidence spreading from his gut, Odd'n suddenly jolts up from his chair and shouts "DRENKKKSSS!! DREENKS FOR EVERYYYOONNNEE!!" before settling back down and gesturing for Skullscar to lean in closer.

"'Eeeeyyyy... *urp*, Skillllskiiirrr.. erhm, is dur anyhair to hurv vun 'round heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeere... *hiccup* Thrink Rooraiii is done miiiiining... uhr... yet..?" Odd'n mutters through his stupor, not at all used to the effects of over-indulging in alcohol. His time in the pits may have exposed him to physically empowering drugs of all kinds, but alcohol was always kept away from the slaves-- being seen as an indulgence and treat, not a necessity to help the fighters win.

Seeing the rest of the group around I frown slightly. I was hoping to off load the dead priests gear here. "I was hopping to find a dagger of excellent quality and material, if you don't have one, perhaps you know of someone that lives here willing to part with such an item for a good price? Also I am looking for some travel gear, for lighting fires, food goods and the like. Also, I know this is a long shot but do you know of anyone who would be selling rings or amulets of a fashionable type?"

basically I would like to purchase some survival gear, a masterwork knife, possibly of cold iron or the like and some jewlery so that my extremely fashionable perk kicks in. Need at least 150gp in jewlery/fine clothes. I figure my silk robes are fine clothes.

Correct me if I am wrong but, Cold steel is 2x price -> Dagger 2gp, Cold Steel +2gp, Masterwork 300gp. total cost for the dagger would normally be 304gp even if you took the masterwork portion to be part of the 2x (which it shouldn't since masterwork is considered a separate component) it would still only be 604gp. Is this dagger he is trying to sell me actually magical or is he just charging an outrageous price because they have nothing of worth here.

Gwyn gulps, hoping to never experience those horrors even second or third-hand.

"That is horrible." she agrees quietly.

After a few moments of silence, something else comes to the surface of her mind.

"We ran into a man who called himself Landis the Wish. He lead a band of bandits, would you know anything about that?"

Kingmaker Table 1

Cold iron is double, masterwork cold iron is +2,000gp normally; so yes, he's charging a tad extra. If you can't afford it or haggle him down to a reasonable price, you should know that there are several other things you can do to get what you want...not all illegal either. The people of Fwey are used to bartering: goods for goods, favors for favors, and goods for favors. These people are also generally pretty needy as far as goods and favors.

Not Gwyn:

"It is magic," Lars says indignantly, [b]"and if you can't afford it, then I'll happily wait for someone how can."

@Odd'n: I can't wait this is too much fun...
Odd'n, in his stupor, doesn't notice that Skullscar has passed out on the table. But Lars hears his calls, and--after his comment to Garret--tells him he saw a shorter brunette in the Municipal Building, pointing to the East.

Gwyn:

"Landis?" The exhaustion quickly leaves her eyes as the ifritess throws her head back with a jovial chuckle, "That little snake? You met him? How is he?"

A silliness creeps up in his chest, and what begins as a few quiet chuckles quickly erupts into a loud maniacal laugh. Spittle flying everywhere as he hoots and hollers to some unknown joke, Odd'n stumbles down the hallway towards the source of the laugh-- stopping every few feed to catch his breath a little lest he double over in laughter.

While waiting for Bronan's reply, she couldn't help but check on the two party goers and their alcohol...and notes the sleeping Skullscar and now absent Odd'n. At this, Mikaiela tented her fingers, a gleam in her eyes forming as a smirk took hold on her face.

Sleeping so soundly...I'll just have to fix that.

Fixing her glasses, she left the main room temporarily to enter into the back room where the two were partying earlier. She moved her way to the chair across from Skullscar, and then climbed on the table.

While on the table, she bent over and waved a hand in front of Skullscar's face, checking to see how far off in dreamland he was. If he didn't wake from that, she snapped loudly as she usually does to see if that would wake him.

If he wakes up...:

When Skullscar awoke, he was be greeted by a gratuitous display of cleavage from a form-fitting black blouse unbuttoned a bit too far, and a scowling deaf bartender / chef currently adjusting her glasses to whom that gratuitous display belonged. She immediately signed something to him, whether he understood it or not.

{... ... ..., ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ..., ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ...}

Translation: {Rise and shine, layabout. Your friend wandered off while you slept, and he looked very inebriated. I'd find him before he gets himself in trouble.}

If he doesn't wake up...:

Mikaiela sighed. He was a log. Fine, up to her to find his friend before that friend gets in trouble. She'd head back into the main room and wave down Lars, alerting him of her choice.

{I'll be leaving the Common for a bit. I need to find a roaming and drunk patron before he gets himself hurt. I'll be right back.}

Seeing as she was headed back outside, she went back into the back room, and changed her clothes (whether Skullscar was awake or not by this point), changing out her chef attire for her usual raggedy fur clothes.

The top covered her chest, and had a low neckline, but was tattered just underneath the neckline, exposing the undersides of her chest, and baring her midriff. Her bottom was much the same; the skirt sat reasonably low, but was tattered below the waistline. Fortunately, the skirt was still long enough and intact enough to hide her undergarment. Her shoes seemed to be held together by strips of cloth, and everything was colored black, much like her chef attire.

Assuming she was not stopped by Skullscar if he had awakened, she put the rest of the clothes away in her backpack, grabbed her scythe (placing it on her back), and headed out of the Common to go search for Odd'n.

Odd'n & Gwyn:

Nani chuckled again, "Yes well, that claim isn't entirely unfounded. He is...quite talented." At this a large burly man stumbles into an adjacent hall quite loudly, calling for Gwyn. Nani's head instinctively turns toward the noise, then back to Gwyn, eyebrows raised, "Friend of yours?"

Mikaiela:

Feel free to move your token on the map (linked under my name) and let me know your route, some of the rooms have interactions associated with them.

"I think so, though he sounds drunk. Is it okay if I make sure he's not going to get himself into trouble and continue this conversation in a little bit?" Gwyn looks a little nervous as she asks this, more so because she didn't know if she could wrangle Odd'n if she had to than any fear of Nani.

Assuming she is okay with it.

Gwyn finds Odd'n around the corner, and all she could do is shaker her head as he stumbles in place.

If nothing else, the man works admirably fast.

"I wasn't hiding, but I can see you've been drinking. Come on, lets see if we can get you sobered up."

To Lars I wasn't saying I didn't want it. Just that the price was steep" I grumble. "I have some items I could trade as well as gold. Perhaps you need a service done to make up the difference. I am a mage and have the ability to make scrolls as well as cast a few spells, or perhaps there is something else you need. Also, if you don't mind my asking, what is the daggers magic ability?"

Mikaiela left the Common, and started wandering the streets, seeing if she could find someone who matched Odd'n's description. Granted, while her clothing left quite little to anyone's imagination, she did give a scowl to anyone who looked at her a bit more intently than she needed them to.

Now, if I was drunk, where would I go?

A little bit of bile rises in Odd'ns throat which he promptly forces back down.

Gwyn & Odd'n:

Nani nods understandingly as Gwyn leaves to talk to Odd'n. She soon finds a rain barrel in the entrance to the Municipal Building See Arrow on Map. Unfortunately it has more sand in it than rain, but it should do the trick.

Nani rolls her eyes and ignores Odd'n's drunken comment. The chairwoman begins to walk toward the northwest room of the building, presumably following Umaveti's path to Minah.

Garret:

"Just standard enchantment, makes you fight better it's masterwork, +1; not actually magic, but he doesn't know the difference." After Garret's offer, Lars thinks a moment, "Don't want for much around here besides building materials and water. Hey, you wouldn't happen to know how to pick a good spot for a well would you? The one we've got is good, but it's lost pressure lately, makes me think it's running dry. If you could find us a good spot, I'll give you the dagger for 1,300 gp." Survival Check DC 25, with Aid Another. The catch is, you have to convince Lars you found it by yourself or he'll feel the need to split the earnings, and you won't get the dagger.

Mikaiela

I'm assuming you went out the south room, it's discovered on the map now. Mikaiela finds herself in the Alley as it's mockingly called by the locals, as it's the only outdoor space between two walls in the entire town. She notices it's empty, which is typical for this time of day. She's grateful for this fact as the wind tunnel produced by the two buildings kicks up her already revealing skirt.

As she adjusts her clothing she sees a door on the West wall of the municipal building.

Perception DC 20:
Already being covered by the sand on the wind, she sees enormous and irregular footprints heading toward the front (north) entrance of the municipal building

"This is probably going to be unpleasant, Odd'n, but this is not a good time to get drunk."

Gwyn leads the larger man over to the rain barrel and dunks his head into it a couple of times.

"Better?"

The first few dunks were refreshing, Odd'n could feel his skin cooling and mind clearing. By the fourth dunk, however, Odd'ns world began to swirl around in front of him. "Gwryn... ermmm.. sthings.. twirring..." is all he can get out before Gwyn dunks him under again. As she lifts him out of the water Odd'n vomits the days ale and food into the rain barrel. Despite his GI tract deciding to work in reverse, Odd'n keeps his mind about him enough to avoid covering his little friend in his mornings mistakes.

Well, guess Odd'n will be 'sickened' for the next X hours (at TLGMs discretion). I'm just putting this here for my reference later-- The character takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls, weapon damage rolls, saving throws, skill checks, and ability checks.

Plopping to the ground, Odd'n wipes the grime away from his mouth and water out of his eyes. "Gwryn.. erm.. I.. I could rearry use a.. something.. something to drenk.."

With a slight scowl, Mikaiela held her skirt in place, then looked to the sky and fixed her glasses, as if giving her best intimidating glare to the wind.

Not that she cared in hindsight. So what if people saw? If anyone made a move, she had a super large scythe and Instant Skeletons (just add water!).

Of course, that assumed she wasn't initially okay with the move to begin with. All that aside, she finally takes note of her surroundings in this small alleyway.

was there at least 150gp worth of jewelry in the dragon treasure? If so +1 to my social rolls.

I perk up after hearing I could get it at a discount. "I will get right on that then."

As I head out I figure Odd'n is probably useless due to drunkenness, assuming he even has the ability to find water. So I begin discreetly asking about for someone who would know about finding where to dig a well.

Gwyn & Odd'n:
Nothing new for you two. Mission review: the sooner you collect Minah and bring him back to Krisol, the more money you make from Mayor Minoj.

Mikaiela:
Nothing new for you, feel free to spend six more minutes to take 16, and clear the check

Garret:
I'd like to retcon something...I realize how I typed it before made it sound like just a +1 masterwork dagger, it does have a magical property, Lars just doesn't know what it is. Yes, there's two sets of armbands totaling 582 gp in value. The second miner you ask knows about a guy named Rory who "has a nose" for water he points to his hut a few dozen yards west from where you're standing. He also mentions, however, that he won't be back from the mines for about another hour.

Leading Odd'n back to Nani, she apologies again for the interruption and resumes where she left off.

"What kind of man is he, Landis I mean. One of the people in my party wanted to kill him, and his followers, and I... Well, I know that sometimes people don't turn to thievery or banditry because they wanted to. I don't want to kill anyone, even if that's my only option."

Hearing Gwyn try to defend 'The Wish', and Belshoi no less, causes further sickness in Odd'ns stomach. After throwing up on his own shoes, Odd'n looks sideways at Gwyn' "Don't.. don't turn do teevery n banderty cause dey want too? They.. dey do it fer money. They even admit as mush. So.. so.. don't defund dem.. Beshoi.. he.. he even say.. they no good. Say.. they prey on who they like. They no good.. people.. wish and beshoi."

Jabbing Gwyn in the head (he missed her shoulder due to the inebriation)harder than he intended too, Odd'n begins chewing out Gwyn for her support of the scoundrels. "You.. Youuu supppert them.. whyyy? Cause.. cause they have.. bad.. life. I.. I have.. bad life.. and... and.. NO like them. See? Watch!"

Before Gwyn has a chance to react Odd'n drunkenly sprint-stumbles out of the building as he digs in his bag for the feel of coin. Finding a purse he opens it and grabs a handful of, presumably, gold coin Gold: 1d100 ⇒ 78. Nearing the tents, Odd'n throws it with all his might and screams "SEE! BAD LIFE!! DUN MEAN MUST TAKE FROM UDDERS!!" before he falls to his knees sobbing.

I'm not sure when Gwyn + nani have ended up, so Odd'n will run outside from wherever Nani is and towards the nearest tent cluster. Could you move him appropriately TLGM?

Eventually finding the footprints, Mikaiela follows their direction with intent and malice. Although, more intent than malice...

Why do I have to do a stupid person's job? So selfish of them to have one as pretty and disabled as I do their work to find their friend. What do they think I am? A common servant? Man, they are out of their minds!

...or more malice than intent perhaps. She snapped her fingers and stopped for a moment, scowling, before huffing, replacing the scowl with a sinister smirk, and continuing on her way in following the footprints. She just came up with the best idea ever. Fool proof.

Bronan stares blankly at Mikaiela's hand gestures. By the time he's thought of a way to communicate back, she's already left the building. He gives Lars a sidelong glance when he accepts Odd'n's coins "I thought you said you were afraid of holding that much cash in this town?"

"I can spot you the difference Garret, if it's that important."

Sorry for the late response, reality got in the way. It's taking me a bit to catch up with what's happening.
