Snorri Forgefather |
"The engine room might provide more useful information for us but I bet the locks are better and these bands probably wont get us in. That said I'd still suggest we head there first."
GMEDWIN |
I assume Khall is with you because she would not be doing anyone any favors staying on top of a building nowhere near the rest of the party.
You press your hand on to the switch which opens the door to the engine compartment. The door opens and much like the airlock and storage area, the engine room is a mass of ropy tendrils.
- Kit - |
"Oh, I've got fire!" Kit boasts. "But it's probably not doing us any favours if I just set fire to everything. Probably best you keep on swinging away for us, Snorri!"
"Carry on!" she says with a wide smile.
Seeing the engine room full of vines, Kit asks, "Auw, yeah. That's looking like a lot of chopping. Do you want to keep doing that, Snorri? Cause I can try to scamper through the vines to check out the engineering room. It'd be way quicker."
If you want to keep properly clearing away the vines, Kit's fine with that, but if we want to just let someone scout, Kit will scurry through the vines and make sure everything's in working order with her engineering and computer skills.
Whichever method, Kit's checks on the engine room are below, when she can make them.
Engineering: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (7) + 10 = 17
Computers: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (7) + 8 = 15
Note for future exploration: If we come across any locked doors, Kit will use her hacking tool kit and attempt to bypass the locks with a computers check. If it's a mechanical lock she'll use her engineering tool kit to disable them with an engineering check.
GMEDWIN |
Snorri continues to chop through the engine room compartment, they are so thick and they confuse you. You remove the ropy tendrils from this area and discover that you have probed your way into the very engines themselves, and that any reignition of the Sigma’s engines will most likely result in disaster unless these tendrils are first removed.
The engine computer station is off and would need to be turned back on in the bridge.
Vagoru Vyûn |
"We should make sure we don't bring any of this crap back to our ship. How did it get here?"
Operative Ambrose |
"Well something opened up the crate full of MRE's. So it's probably not a mushroom."
He clucks his tongue. "It's kinda like, taking over the engines."
Khall Vesper |
Yeah, sorry, haven't had time to post recently, yes I am indeed following, but I'm keeping a little distance, after all my sniper is kinda useless close quarters (compared to my pistols)
Khall adjusts the volume on her vocal Modulator, something she has had the habit of doing quite too often. She'd occasionally forget she turned to down or up, or her voice comes out deep, or high... She examines the tendrils as she moves along. Life Sciences: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7 however her knowledge on fungus was limited...
Vagoru Vyûn |
Vagoru starts chopping vines with his doshko.
"After we clear out the engines, let's head to the bridge and see about the computer."
Bronen |
Once more is cleared from the engine room Bronen begins moving around and studying problems.
Eng: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (14) + 8 = 22
Khall Vesper |
Any issues? Khall asks, sounding like she had spent a lifetime smoking. She growls, and readjusted her vocals, Sorry, but anyways, I've seen nothing so far other than malfunctioning machines that needs my attention, unless you happen to have a computer that needs hacked or a ship that needs piloted... she cracks her neck, Although to be honest our of all you here I feel like I'm not doing anything... despite the fact that some of you literally aren't doing anything. she says, looking at Ambrose
GMEDWIN |
Your group goes and opens the door to the Sigma's crew quarters, to get to the bridge. The door swishes open. As the door opens, a writhing mass of green tentacles whips towards Vagorun 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21 crit 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10 no.... causing 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 crushing damage.
In essence because you are in cramped space. Three of you are in the original airlock storage area and the rest are in the engine room.
Initiative... Khall 1d20 ⇒ 13, Bronen 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5, Vag 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7, Ambrose 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9, Snorri 1d20 ⇒ 4, Kit 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 Tentacles 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (4) + 10 = 14
Please post your saves, and initiative at the top of you character, so that it is easy start combat, Khall... Snorri, I could not find your Initiative on your character sheet, so you may have bonuses that I am unaware of. I am in the process of creating a map, but I won't be able to that until this evening. Before moving forward,
please post your actual initiative, thanks.
crit damage 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
- Kit - |
"Look out!" Kit exclaims as Vagorun gets smashed by some vines. "Whoops! Too late! Sorry Vyun, I tried!" she adds, clearly to late to be of any help.
Kit was definitely one of those in the engine room, since she made engineering checks in there, but that makes four at least inside and there can only be three of us, right? Bronen's also in there, since he also made engineering checks, and Snorri since he was swinging the axe. Vyun got attacked though, so he's there too? Maybe Kit got shoved further back as we got ready to move on to make way for the bigger stronger types? If Bronen and Snorri both want to be in the engine room with Vyun, Kit will start at the front of the group in the airlock storage area, having been shuffled out of the way by her bigger and stronger companions.
Snorri Forgefather |
With a total initiative is 7 he'll be going after the next enemy. I reckon he'd be up front... you know for the weed whacking.
After the general frustration and drudgery Snorri appears to be caught offguard by the tentacles.
Operative Ambrose |
You're right, I'm just here. doing nothing. eating the food...
"I've never fought a tentacle monster before!" Ambrose exclaims happily, raising his guns. "Finally something interesting to do!"
Gonna wait for my turn, since it seems the tentacles go before me.
Vagoru Vyûn |
Your group goes and opens the door to the Sigma's crew quarters, to get to the bridge. The door swishes open. As the door opens, a writhing mass of green tentacles whips towards Vagorun 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (20) + 1 = 21 crit 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10 no.... causing 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 crushing damage.
FYI crits do not need to roll to confirm in Starfinder. So that is automatically double damage, so an extra 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 for a total of 10.
"Blood and Dust! These ones are alive!" Vagoru shouts. He slashes with his Doshko at the mass, as his eyes light up.
Activating photon mode for +1 damage per hit.
Tactical Doshko: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (20) + 6 = 26
speaking of crits... I guess it's only fair! :)
Tactical Doshko damage: 2d12 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (4, 11) + 8 + 2 = 25
"Ha! Get back to the Valley of Ash where you belong!"
Vagoru lets go of the laser cannon with one hand (thus holding but not wielding it) and the fiery ball appears in his free hand.
Swift action to change grips and move action to draw the solar weapon.
Khall Vesper |
Khall drops a Knee and fires her rifle past the group, the beam blazing past them all. attack(EAC): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23 damage(energy): 1d8 ⇒ 6 she then quickly slides the rifle away and draws a pistol.
Standard to fire, Move to put weapon away, Swift to draw pistol
GMEDWIN |
I am under the assumption that Khall's initiative is +0
4 tentacles attack Vag 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13 miss, 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20 hit 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5, 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20 hit 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2, 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19 hit 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2 striking him three times.
Khall's attack hits one of the tentacles destroying it.
Vag obliterates another tentacle with his DOshko.
Rest
Snorri Forgefather |
Snorri brings down his axe hoping to lop off one of the tentacles. "Your friends got me all warmed up you blasted plants."
Axe Vs KAC: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (8) + 6 = 14
Damage: 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (10) + 3 = 13
Operative Ambrose |
Ambrose levels his static arc pistols at the targets and lets loose a pair of shots.
I have multiweapon fighting which reduces the penalty for full attacking with multiple weapons by 1.
SAP #1 vs EAC: 1d20 + 5 - 3 ⇒ (14) + 5 - 3 = 16
Energy Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 4
SAC #2 vs EAC: 1d20 + 5 - 3 ⇒ (6) + 5 - 3 = 8
"Heehee!" Ambrose cackles toothily as he zaps at his first target.
- Kit - |
"Whoah! Hey! Yeah, get him! Ouch! That looks like it hurt! Yeah, get him!" Kit exclaims as the others engage the tentacles, cheering and wincing appropriately.
Kit shakes her hands behind her then winds up and throws a blob of fire at one of the tentacles, like a pitcher throwing a baseball. Casting a fire energy ray at the tentacle she can see best.
Attack vs. EAC: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Fire Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 1
GMEDWIN |
Bronen attacks one of the tentacles with his spear 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 miss
Snorri's attack misses the tentacles and so does that of Kit.
One of Ambrose's attacks hit the mark and destroys a tentacle.
Round 2
Four tentacles attack those in melee against Snorri 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6 miss, Vag 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 1 = 20 hit 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4, Bronen 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3 miss and Vag again 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (8) + 1 = 9 miss.

Snorri Forgefather |
Snorri grunts as he pulls back his axe for another chop. "Stop moving around and die you blithering overgrown potted plant!"
Axe Vs KAC: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Damage: 1d12 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12
Khall Vesper |
Khall draws her other pistol and starts making her way past her allies, Swift action to draw pistol, Move action to get closer(if possible)
She then takes aim, checking her line if sight before growling... I hate Spaceships! she yells before firing,
Attack(KAC: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15
Damage(Pistol): 1d6 ⇒ 2
- Kit - |
"Man, I hate tentacle beasts!" she exclaims. "Always grabbing where they're not welcome!"
Kit shakes her hands behind her then winds up and throws another blob of fire at one of the tentacles. Casting a fire energy ray at the tentacle she can see best.
Attack vs. EAC: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17
Fire Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 3
"No means NO!" she yells as she lets the ball of fire fly.
Vagoru Vyûn |
"Dammit! I can't take much more of this!"
I've lost all my Stamina and have 11 HP left. That creature rolled a lot of 18s and 19s!
Vagoru spins his solar around, hoping to strike the creature multiple times. The blazing ball lashes out and misses once, but the second time it strikes a crushing blow against the tentacles.
Full attack, solar weapon: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 6 - 4 = 4
Full attack, solar weapon: 1d20 + 6 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 6 - 4 = 19
damage: 1d6 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Did we lose Vultsubai? Perhaps his actions should be botted?
Operative Ambrose |
Ambrose hoots and somersaults over one flailing tentacle before tumbling under another, delivering a shot right when one was slowing down to change direction.
Trick Attack: Acrobatics: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (10) + 12 = 22
Hey, that might do it.
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
Damage: 1d6 ⇒ 6
Trick Damage: 1d4 ⇒ 2
GMEDWIN |
Snorri's attack misses.
Khall hits a tentacle but it is still functioning.
Kit's attack hits one of the tentacles.
One of Vag's attacks connects and finishes off one of the tentacles.
