Vagoru Vyûn |
"...when soace isn't at a premium."
"What kind of sauce would you use for these though?" :)
"Are we going to have to comb these forests for contagion and enemies? The things from the bridge of the other shuttle seemed to be plant-based. Or Fungus-based. Maybe they came from around here?"
Vagoru keeps a strict lookout.

"Pepper sauce... but as for here. This place is too big I think for us to properly lock it down in any reasonable time frame. Half mad but still intelligent foes, we just don't have the manpower I think."
He looks over at the doctor "Any suggestions on where we might find other sane survivors or just pot luck?"
I was operating off my phone, space sauce, it's all magically delicious.
GMEDWIN |
Bronen walks into the field with the mushrooms.
GM Rolls
His electrical devices reboot when he crosses the barrier but return to working fine within 5 seconds. Bronen then stabs the mushroom with his pike causes it to erupt in a red cloud of highly poisonous fungi spores that pours out like a fire hose squirting water.
The spores do not affect the other characters due to the electronic barrier shielding them.
Bronen Fort Save DC 17 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18 pass he is able to swallow a few of them which does not hurt him and he is able to withdraw back behind the electrical barrier.
- Kit - |
"Well, that was a bad idea." Kit remarks.
Although normally she'd be rolling around on the ground laughing by now, Kit seems oddly subdued. Clearly, the events with Vult yesterday got to her.
After a moment she asks, "Uh... AI? Why were they purposely growing THAT to plant on a planet they're terraforming? It's a horrible plan!!"
To Gil, she asks, "So, Gil. Were the people in charge of this place psychotic? Possibly insane or homicidal?"
Lt. Gillian Shultz-Wu |
The AI says,"Lt. Shultz, what are you trying to do?"
The AI says, Fungus is not actually a plant."
Gil responds, verifying your protocols, it would seem that the lock down was not effective, I want to verify that everything is operating as it should be.
hoping to use her access, computer, other than myself, and the others that boarded the station today with me, are there any other life signs on board?
she plugs in her personal computer to download any information she can on other life on the station and begins a vital signs monitoring algorithm to warn her if any of the group are in critical condition.
Vagoru Vyûn |
Vagoru addresses the computer. "A.I.: Did the object that penetrated the hull come in contact with the rainforest biome? That biome seems to be contaminated."
Vagoru looks over the giant mushrooms behind the barrier.
"Very vigorous lifeforms, to have taken over the biome so swiftly. I wonder if the object that crashed into the station was another race's version of a terraforming ship? Designed to convert the local environment to an ecosystem that mimics their home planet? "
Vagoru Vyûn |
The AI says, "I do not know that answer, that is a reason why I requested you investigate the object in the dome."
Vagoru covers his face with his palm.
"AI, I thought you knew where this object was? Is it in this sector or not?"
GMEDWIN |
You move forward and the next to sections on the right you see what appears to be an impenetrable rain cloud lying at ground level, in the same manner as fog. The cloud is completely black, and visibility into the cloud is no more than a few inches. The cloud covers the entire area before you, stretching for hundreds of yards in all directions.
And on the left stands a chaotic sea of colorful tendrils representing all the colors of the rainbow, and some that you find it difficult to identify. The seething mass is in constant motion as the tentacles vie with one another for supremacy. A moment’s scrutiny reveals that the tendrils, of all shapes and sizes, are actually rending one another, absorbing the essence of those that are dismembered, and are constantly battling in an attempt to grow larger. Surely any character entering this area would be ripped apart in mere moments.
This is area 3 and 4 respectively
Lt. Gillian Shultz-Wu |
Gil continues along with the rest, she occasionally stops to verify all the containment fields are secure.
A liitl confused on the fog thing, is it in our path?
GMEDWIN |
You move towards the area where the object should be on your left is a strange wall of blackness that bars your further progress. The wall is opaque as it rises from the floor, obviously moving, but becomes translucent as it becomes taller, and finally fades into nothingness at a height of about twelve feet. The wall extends as far as your eye can see to the right and left. The black part of the wall is opaque for several feet, becoming gradually translucent and finally is gone some twelve feet from the floor of the area.
On the other side of the road is a motionless forest of majestic trees rises, forming a forest that stretches as far as you can see. Stately oaks, gently spreading maples, and all manner of undergrowth abounds here, but not a leaf is stirring. The silence is nearly deafening in its totality.
- Kit - |
"Well, sh**!" Kit exclaims. "Anyone have a jet pack they feel like dramatically unveiling now? Want to fly up to where it's translucent and peek past the black?"
"Have you got eyes in there, AI?" Realizing the AI's going to assume she means literal eyes, Kit rolls hers, then clarifies: "Can you see what's past this black wall with any cameras?"
Vagoru Vyûn |
"AI, is this area supposed to be dark? Can we get some light in here?"
What is causing the "greyness"? Is it some kind of fog? Or is it the containment field itself?
Lt. Gillian Shultz-Wu |
Gil takes a moment to examine the wall and the slime, she tries to gather a sample for analysis.

Gil starts taking samples and puts them into viles. She still outside the barrier watches as they explode into spores on the inside of the area.
You make your way towards the ovoid object sticking out of the station's dome. After about 150 yards, you see that the maintenance building is similarly coated as the walls, as are several deactivated horticultural robots that are in the area. The ground is slick but underneath you it gives way as you are walking in the desert biome.
GMEDWIN |
As approach to within fifty yards, you see that:
A large oblong ovoid sticks through the outer transparent dome of the station. It is obviously part of some larger object. The protrusion is black, about twelve feet long, and enters the dome at a height of several feet. At this distance, you cannot make out any details, and its outline appears indistinct, almost as though it is moving slightly. A layer of black material, possibly dust or soot, also covers the floor in this entire area.
Vagoru Vyûn |
"Looks like this is our intruder." Vagoru says.
He looks at it for several moments.
"But how do we get rid of it? I don't think we have enough demolition materials to get rid of it, and even if we did, blowing it would damage the station, possibly very badly."
Snorri Forgefather |
"How did you get here, an attack or are you just as upset as we are." Snorri cranes his neck. "Remember our primary objective isn't to make a fight it's to figure out the communications black out and what happened to the first team. They might not want us to blow it up, the brass might prefer the idea of sending some people to take samples and what not, see what they can reverse engineer."
Bronen |
A robotic voice enemates from the drone, "We should at least make sure that it is safe for some to gather samples." The drone then moves toward the ovoid and pokes it with the haft of its pike.
GMEDWIN |
So you have continued towards it...
You keep moving to within ten feet, you notice the following:
The outline of the object remains somewhat indistinct, almost as though light is falling into it. It appears entirely alien—perhaps a space craft. Whatever this object is, it has obviously collided with the Outpost! It appears that the Outpost’s automatic sealing system has preserved the dome pressure, and an ominous-looking iris, perhaps an entrance hatch, is now visible at the point protruding the farthest into the station. The air here is a bit stale, and the light seems dimmer than it did when you were further from the object. A black film covers the surface of the object and all surfaces surrounding it.
Bronen pokes the shape with the haft of his pike and is unable to pull it loose.
Snorri Forgefather |
Just to be clear Snorri's got his armour sealed... the spores have him paranoid.
Snorri watches Kit's back while she does her thing. Keeping his gun handy and hoping she would find something of use.
