Snorri: from your sheet it looks like you are level 1. We are starting at level 2.
Snorri Forgefather |
I think I just wrote down one instead of two.
Can we not go hard on the military window dressing, sirs and maams will get old fast, easy to miss details when you don't have the person standing right in front of you... gender is a significant detail but there's other ones about that people muddled up there.
I'll be honest a little twitchy about everyone being spread across such an array of ranks. Pulling rank on other PCs without having earned it in RPGs can grate on people but doesn't always become a problem. Hopefully it'll pan out.
Bronen |
Coming in people'd be spread across ranks. I'd assume they'd standardize the ranks at some point though, for a simple command structure.
I vote Snorri has lead rank :)
Also, I am very curious how this crew will do in combat. There is far more melee than I am used to seeing in one group. Should be interesting.
Operative Ambrose |
I have +10 Piloting and can handle that role easily. Ambrose is being specifically fuzzy (heh, get it?) about his rank because I was going to allow the GM to actually set it for me so that it fits alongside the group.
I mean, besides the fact that rank seems to go out the window when it comes to surviving against terrible odds. :P
GMEDWIN |
I am sorry but while I was sleeping you two turned this into something not good.
Your characters are only second level and they do not have the reputation to ask this way and this is why I wanted members of the Fleet military.
I will try to salvage this but this is not going well.
Vagoru Vyûn |
Wow, missed a lot.
Most sci-fi shows that suppose a futuristic military organization (like Starfleet in Star Trek) usually just use one form of address for female and male officers, on the grounds that gender distinction has become outmoded, which is why I went with 'Sir.'
I also deliberately made Vagoru a lance-corporal, which is just about the lowest rank you can get except for private. He doesn't have a problem with taking orders from others in the group, as long as they are sensible.
Maybe those in the party who don't fit the "military mold" could be civilian contractors of some kind, and thus wouldn't have ranks?

About Vyun on a starship:
I didn't really worry too much about Starship combat since this module sounded like mostly a "space dungeon crawl."
Vyun would make a passable gunner, but not a great one, since his DEX is only 12.
Despite his low rank, Vagoru would make a passable captain, as his Intimidate and Diplomacy are both decent (though not fantastic). Most of the opinion on the boards suggests that the Solarion's Sidereal Influence ability doesn't work during space combat, though there are interesting arguments that suggest that it does. If it does, Vagoru can get insight bonuses to those skills and becomes considerably better in that role.
Khall Vesper |
If we need a Gunner Khall is more than willing to take up that order, but I'm not a full progression BAB so I would not be optimal there.

GMEDWIN wrote:Ambrose, you can upload your own avatar. How? I thought you could only select what they had on the site.
If there is a way of uploading custom avatars I would love to know how. I've never been able to find one.
Vagoru Vyûn |
Starship-relevant abilities:
Vagoru: Diplomacy +7, Intimidate +7, Engineering +6, Gunnery +3.
Khall (have to do my own math with his sheet so these might be wrong): Piloting +10, Computers +9, Engineering +9, Bluff +7, Gunnery +6
Vultsubai: no profile yet.
Ambrose: Piloting +10, Gunnery +6, Intimidate +8 (WTF? Skittermander more intimidating than my Shobhad? :P )
Snorri: Engineering +4, Intimidate +3, Gunnery +5
Bronen: Computers +8, Engineering +8, Gunnery +2
Not sure where Vultsubai fits in yet, but for starship roles, my instinct says:
Pilot: Ambrose
Engineer: Khall or Bronen
Science Officer: Bronen or Khall
Captain: Vagoru
Gunners: Snorri
NOTE: those of you that don't have full BAB can use your piloting ranks instead for gunnery. So Ambrose and Khall are also our best gunners.
ALSO NOTE: You don't need to stick to the same role every round. Early on you want to scan the enemy ship so having two science officers and no engineer is viable. Later on you want to fix things on the ship so having two engineers and no science officers is also viable. Even the captain can step to the side and man a gun instead of giving bonuses to teammates. And if you don't mind losing initiative the Pilot can even man a gun instead (though this is probably a bad idea usually).

To upload a custom avatar, first you need to pick an avatar, then you put your mouse over the avatar box, in the bottom right corner there will be a small box that says, "import avatar" and then you click and pick yours.
By "Avatar Box" do you mean the avatar image?
I mouse over that and there is no effect on any screen I can call it up on.
On the select avatar image screen, when you mouse over an image a box opens up but all I can do is select that specific image. I don't see an option to upload my own.
What am I doing wrong?

Sorry, but if you wanted us to all be well-behaved members of the military you should have specified. I purposely made a character who likes to get into trouble and runs her mouth off. One of those pain-in-the-ass-but-gets-the-job-done, types. Her record's bound to be overflowing with reprimands and she'll be stuck a grunt private forever despite her skills cause she has problems with authority.
If you think it's going to be a problem you're welcome to send me a PM about it and kill my character off in spectacular fashion.

I think you can only do that if you have the Paizo Campaign Tools in your google chrome browser installed.
I could be wrong though. But that is the Add-On I use, free install. But only you can see the Avatar sadly. :(

Piloting +8, Diplomacy +4, Medicine +4, Mysticism +7, Perception +8
Went with Ace Pilot theme, +8 in the Piloting skill.
Still learning the ins and outs of Starfinder, only just got my book a week or so ago and work is eating up a lot of my time at the moment. So Suggestion welcome if I need to adjust Vult before we go out of the gate.
Just realizing I need to go over his skills one more time and get them right. But here he is.

Considering my character's racial tendencies, Ambrose was positively ah-stoundingly disciplined, to put it in a Drill Sergeant's terms.
Their species was so lax about authority (not disrespecting but rather just not understanding) that the Vesk conquered their planet by landing on it, walking up to the largest community of Skittermander, and saying "Hey, we conquered your planet."
They said "Okay." and then went back to their lives. This was very confusing (and frustrating) to the Vesk because they were conquerors and the Skittermander were actually helpful to them whenever they made requests. Honor wouldn't let them just attack a species that not only never resisted, but actively gave them what they wanted.
That said, I look forward to later on when I proved myself before I go galavanting around. I hope this mission gives me such a chance.
Oh! I know you said we could requisition stuff, but please let me know what I get.

Bronen: Is your character mute? Or does he just not like to talk?

I've been on the fence between "man of few words" and "has a hard time speaking common" due to his bovine construction.

With a Piloting of +8, you aren't going to win the Pilot's chair from the 18 DEX characters. But putting ranks into piloting helps your gunnery. You have a gunnery of +4 which is decent (and better than mine).
