Karl steps forward and maintains the light emanating from his shield, training it on the priests so that they may be questioned.

He inspects their garments and the surroundings to determine anything he can about the religion.

Religion: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (12) + 3 = 15

Female Human

Astrid roughly shakes whichever priest looks weaker. "Wake up. Where's Xanathon?" she asks curtly.

The priests blink at the light shinning in their eyes. They are dressed in the priestly robes of Cretia and have their holy symbols.

Cretia is a trickster god among the Ethengarians but has gained a lot of influence over the last 20-30 years within their lands.

As to Astrids questions they respond He is within his holy chambers which we know not the way to but rest assured your death at his holy hands will follow swiftly!!!

Female Human

Astrid snarks, "I would've thought worshiping a god of misfortune would tip the odds in our favor," before knocking him out again.

Magnus collects the holy symbols from the priests and hands them over to Karl.

"I think they might need these to try and cast any type of spell...and I right Karl?"

Next he squats down near one of the priests who seems closest to breaking.

"Now then....can you tell us how to get to Xanathon or not. Think carefully as a wrong answer means you no longer have any worth to us, and well...we usually just "throw away" those things that have no worth, now don't we. SO who will be first to show us they have value, and are not simply walking corpses?"

Human Male Cleric (Acolyte) 4 ; AC: 18; HP: 28/28; passive perception 16; passive insight 16; Init +0; Saves: Wis +6, Cha +3; HD 4/4; Spells Lvl1: 3/4 Lvl2: 0/3

Aye, they would need them.

Liam keeps watch by the door for any more priests coming. he occasionally glances back at the group making sure everything is ok.

Or maybe he is checking out Astrid?

I found a glitch in the map :( - fixing it

Its a good thing that Liam is keeping watch because three armed and priests dressed in robes enter the corridor.

There is some commotion in the room behind them.

Liam gets a surprise round to act. The priests are 20 feet or so away.

Then?

Initiative

Seeing the approaching priests. Liam looks back at the group, I think we are gonna have some company. he tries not to be to noisy in his warning.

Liam draws his blade as well as his bolas I can try and keep them occupied, there are three of them, armed.

With a quick spin of the bolas, Liam hurls them at the lead priest

bolas attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (4) + 5 = 9

and he hopes that with a shot like that the priests probably still have no idea he is there.

see I am better swordsman that a rock thrower.

Round 1, Aid

Karl holds his shield high and calls upon the aid of Frey in the upcoming battle as Aukan, Astrid and Liam are imbued with toughness and resolve.

AID: Three creatures within range receive 5 temporary HPs for the duration of 8 hours.

The bolo rattles off the walls of the corridor. Party up (including Liam) for round 1.

Female Human

Aid is affected by Life domain, so 9 HP to current and max.

Bolstered by Karl's spell, Astrid charges forward, not even bothering to activate her rage.

Magnus is keeping his eyes on their captives...making sure they do not try to interfere in the combat.

Been a really crappy 48 hours... and my job status is in dispute but onwards

The priests bring to bear their heavy maces - both trying to crush Liam's skull!

Priest 1 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 = 17 for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4damage
Priest 2 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8 for 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3damage

Behind them, in the room they left, there is a milling about and a bit of a ruckus.

Female Human

Astrid again brings her blade to bear against the priests, swinging it in a wide arc...

curious, they attacked Liam? then do Astrid and Aukan get attacks of opportunity on them as the priests had to get past them to reach Liam. (Liam was still in the back as he threw his Bolas before)

Round 2, Bless (1/10 Rds), Spell Slots Used - Level 1: 1, Level 2: 1

Karl again grasps the holy symbol around his neck and bestows a blessing from Frey upon Aukan, Astrid and Liam.

Bless: Whenever a target of the spell makes an attack roll or a saving throw, the target can roll a d4 and add it to the roll. The duration lasts for up to 10 rounds.

Nice cleavage Astrid....lol

Magnus, using his light cantrip, creates a ball of red/orange light that resembles a flaming orb. He casually tosses it from hand to hand as he watches the prisoners.
"Now a ball of fire like this could burn through a body fairly fast, but I could choose to slow that process down. Just stay seated and it will be all over soon!

@ Magnus...not nice...

Liam looks for an opening, hoping to avoid Astrid's "cleavage?"

acrobatics to look cool: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15

Liam rushes to join the battle twisting and ducking the swirling blades from all sides.

attack: 1d20 + 5 + 1d4 ⇒ (18) + 5 + (1) = 24
damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

just as he makes it past Astrid and Aukan, Giving Astrid a chheky smile and a wink, he impales the priest in front of Aukan.

shield bash: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 19
damage: 1d4 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

As he removes the blade for another swing, Liam konks the one fighting Astrid with his shield.

The priests go down in a flurry of steel. Astrid goes into fury of cleaving might, backed up by Aukan and Liam finishes what is left.

All that remains is to investigate the room down the corridor.

Sickness, work and national holiday delayed things - back tomorrow

Magnus points at the other priests.

"What should we do with these?"

Give it time.... :)

You head down the corridor prepared for violence and find a room that leads into a multitude of small rooms, or cells.

The cells are open. The priests seem to be fleeing through one cell and into a corridor beyond. It looks like they are passing through concealed passage.

Map updated

Liam takes note of the fleeing priests. Ah-ha, they obviously now realize who they are dealing with.

Afraid to face my blade? Cowards

After the rats!

Female Human

Astrid holds her hand on Liam's shoulder. "Hold, Liam. We don't need to take more lives. Only fools pretend that there's glory in battle. We just need to-" her other arm snaps out and grabs a cultist by the arm, "-capture one, and question him."

Liam looks to Astrid, and smiles, don't worry, wasn't. I was hoping they would turn around and face us though.

Normally I'd need a roll for that Astrid but it's good narrative

The last priest tries to scramble through the passage when Astrid runs up and manages to snag him before he can get clear.

Astrid can see the priests moving up a corridor that leads in the direction you've come. Perhaps this is a escape route...

Female Human

Astrid grabs the priest by the shoulders and growls, "Where. Is. Xanathon?"

Don't kill me - he's in his chambers!, he gasps out.

Then his fear seems to ebb But he's prepared for you and Cretia will smite you to the dust through his holy arm!.

He points down the corridor away from where the priests are exiting... it stretches on where you can see a blank wall but given this entry in the passage where you stand it likely houses a concealed door.

Female Human

Astrid grabs the priest by the scruff of his neck and drags him over to the wall. "Open it," she says, her voice near primal in its intensity.

I'll wait on the others - there are events at play

Just a quick question...do we still have those original priests with us? Magnus was guarding them, then they seemed to disappear. Just curious if I missed something

They are back where you left them - I could be wrong but I thought you beat them unconscious
