I have no issues with you claiming stuff from the loot table. Each of the bars is worth 100 gold, so if someone's keeping track of gold, they'll know totals. In a lot of the games I've been in, the party has set up an extra "share" from which they buy stuff like Cure Light Wounds wands and other community items. That's totally up to you guys, though. Why don't you give me shopping lists of items you want here, and I'll rubber-stamp them. I can't imagine anything too game-breaking at this point.


I was more checking in with the other person proficient in hand crossbow. :) It's good to know about shopping time, though! Also, Gio's gonna chuck those 5 pp from the noble into the aforementioned party fun.

Yep, Kaz, that's right! And if Gio gives us his platinum pieces (being the true gentleman that he is! :) ), we've got 2145 gp.

I don't think she needs anything right now -she can't carry that much either! The wand could be kind of useful, but maybe Laijiri wants to have it? :)

About shopping, we could buy the most "urgent" things first (maybe healing stuff?), depending of what we need, and then see what we can buy with what is left? It could allow the group to buy improved equipment, like masterwork stuff, if needed. And once we're done shopping, we could calculate what's left, and share it equally between the members of the group!

Well, a wand of cure light wounds (or any 1st level cleric/wizard spell) with 10 charges is 150gp. Aerodus and Gio can use them for sure, and Litsy can take a shot at it with Use Magic Device (DC 20) in an emergency.

Litsy and Kaz should probably look into getting masterwork armor, and Aerodus and Gern should look into getting some heavier armor for better protection. A wand of magic missile would give Laijiri a bit more offense, and mage armor would bump her AC in case of emergencies.

We can also look into ranged splash weapons like alchemist's fire, acid, or holy water. Sometimes a little energy damage goes a long way.

So three of us could use them if needed? We could take three?

Maybe we should get Laijiri's wands and Aerodus and Kazadarin's armors first, as their ACs are lower, and also Gern's, because well, he's a fighter.

You could look into one for Giorgio too! His AC is lower than Litsy's, so the masterwork armor should go to him.


Masterworking armor or shields only helps with some skill checks, like Acrobatics, Stealth, and Disable Device; it doesn't boost AC at all.

Giorgio is proficient with up to medium armor, but with a Strength of 10, his capacity is very limited, hence the leather and small shield. Muleback cords cost 1000gp, which is a bit much to spend at this point for just increasing carrying capacity.

Gern will hang on to his gold. Saving for masterwork or better weapon.

I recommend we do a party share and buy a single wand of cure light wounds. Half charges makes it 375 gold. I can chip in some of mine to make up the deadfall.

Having 25 uses will go a long way in days to come.


Hm. So maybe the one wand for 375gp and a healer's kit for 50gp for backup work? We can save the rest or split it evenly. An even split would be 277gp each, with 4gp left over.

With no U.M.D. to speak of, Laijiri will not be looking to get much of anything Magical, though I suppose a few extra emergency scrolls might help if she doesn't flub. The wand of Acid Splash can be resold unless someone wants it.

Not having had need for the Shield or Mage Armor spells, Laijiri will be picking one of the pair up when she can.

- Enrollment into a Magic school for Zavi.

She'll be a Magus, but I'll leave any archetype choice up to the story. As for the rest, she'll have to take special care to not get hurt, it looks like.

If we buy the bow, the wand, and the healer's kit, then we've got 720 gp left. (couldn't find the set of good clothing's price, Laijiri, sorry!) We take the wand of acid splash too?

I'm kind of interested in a masterwork studded leather armor (which would cost 325 gp). It can wait, though. We might as well spare some money.
And what about Aerodus?

I'm not sure what to do about Aerodus. At the moment, he hasn't posted in any of his games a several days, and I haven't heard what's up with him. However, I know that before his most recent absence, he was having issues with his computer and was getting over being pretty sick, and before that, he'd just gotten engaged.

I want to do what keeps the group happy. If you guys want me to try to find someone else, I can. Or, I can bot him in combat as needed and hope he comes back.

Can I suggest we roll ahead with the meeting at the Barracks now to keep the main thread going.

We can assume the purchasing is done off screen and it lets the story keep progressing.

Lets work on the assumption we collectively bought a healing wand with not full charges, and whatever personal purchases people made.

On that note, Gern will stash his share of the gold at his premises in his uncles manse.

So, I got a PM today from an interested player who's been following our game. Said player would like to play a lawful evil character worshiping Asmodeus, and leaning heavily toward lawful rather than evil. I told said player I would ask the party if they were willing to work with an evil party-member, so here it is.

The character concept is a tiefling lawyer following Asmodeus, which isn't a rare or unaccepted thing in Korvosa. It'd be easy enough to tie this character into the group, and it would give you a source of healing (albeit not one as strong as a good-aligned cleric like Aerodus). The churches of Korvosa accept Asmodeans as a necessary evil in the city, and he's not as bad as a lot of the other evil gods in my mind. The character's class is still up in the air.

So, how would you all feel about an evil character in the party? I know that in the original recruitment, I said any nonevil, and if anyone is unwilling to give it a try, we can find a different character, no harm done. I know evil's reputation as party-destroying.

The evil does not bother me, it is OK to me if the player can keep it directed outward from the party. Issue would be the problem with the healing.

It doesn't bother me neither. The problem is that the character I'm playing hates Asmodeus' ideology... And there is a possibility that she'll end up betraying him. :/

No issue from either myself or Laijiri. There's a bit of a concern in that any "Evil" character would sell out the party, or use it to screw over a group, but I'm willing to give it a shot.

I'm all for making things interesting. What'll hook me is the way the character is introduced, and how they're played. I like "character" in the characters. :)

Incidentally, poke me when Laijiri is starting to fall a bit flat, please.

Evil can work if its played more towards lawful and at least reliable with the group.

It won't affect Gern at all. He's lawful neutral and has done some fairly tough work for his uncle. For him its about loyalty and clan honour rather than anything else.

As for me as a player, I'm fine with it.

Is it a "normal" shortbow, or a masterwork one?


I can definitely see possible conflict arising between my character and the new one - that said, as long as we don't drag everyone else into such conflicts or stall the game with them, I think we'll be okay.
