Vhillish: The cultist has Total Concealment from you (50% miss chance) due to no LOS. Thus you can only target a square where you think he is. You can make a perception check to choose the right square based on sound.

Jerrid successfully disables the glyph warding the staff. It should be safe to retrieve it now. He determines that the trap was a teleported.

Turning his attention to the burning bookshelf, Jerrid notices something else. Moving through the flames, something invisible is headed for the dais.

The Imp!

Take ten stealth for 31 vs Jerrid's 32 perception

The crypt thing is still just staring at Damien and Kevezyat.

The cadre of Damien's advances once again to keep his range relevant, hammer gripped tightly and humming with arcane energy as the seconds stretch out with no movement from the crypt guardian.

The veteran shouts behind him, "Quick now you two! The others are counting on us! Don't leave them to their fate!", he glances at Kev, "We should draw it further back if we can, leave room to split around it. Leo just reminded me, he did drop a light spell in the pit.

I am calling that a hit.

Vhillish lobs the holy water at the head of the cultist, just barely visible from where the deputy stands. The vial shatters on the skeletal head, blue flames flickering as the blessed substance ignites upon contact with the unholy abomination.

is the plank still across the top of the pit?

If yes...

Janna moves to get a better view of the thing in the pit. darkvision 60'

Once she can get a clear shot a bolt of lightning shoots from her hand toward the creature.

Janna simply delays until it reaches near the top then casts another wind sphere to blow the thing back into the pit.

Yup plank is still there.

Fort: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 8

The undead cultist is battered by the breeze, and falls 5' to the bottom of the pit. As it is composing itself from the fall, the lightning rattles it's bones.

Vortigern

Suplise!

Lying at the foot of the stairs, Vortigern's clothes are still burning. Janna notices a ring on his finger is absorbing the flames. The supposedly dead mage rolls over and speaks a spell, an orb of acid appearing in his hand. He lobs it at her, a scowl on his face.

Acid Splash: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Damage: 1d3 ⇒ 2

Then he sprinkles himself with dust and dissapears.

Undead Cultist

As the gusts of wind disperse, the skeletal cultist gets to his feet.

The same incantation as was used on Vhillish is performed again.

Command

"If I can't come to you, perhaps you should come to me. Join me my dear. FALL."

Janna Will Save: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6

I have the feeling vortigern used two standard actions, and not to be nit-picky but I also have the feeling that "fall" would make her prone in the same square she is now, the order the cultist have to use for janna to jump into the pit is "approach"

re: Vortigern
You are probably right, I trust you a lot on rules. I will check it out more. His item is dust of disappearance, I don't think it's an activation type item. Let me know what you think.

re: the command
I say if she is on the narrow plank, "fall" will make her drop to the pit. If she was on the edge on solid ground he would say "approach".

I'm not sure what action would be needed to retrieve something from other people backpack

As Vortigern sprinkles the dust on himself, Vhillish can see him starting to disappear. But he hasn't vanished yet. Once again Vortigern's need to hurt Janna has left him vulnerable. Vhillish still has a shot.

Leovens does as told.

Finishing his spell, Leoven falls prone at the deputy's behest, speaking the command word "approach". The enraged wizard ignores the command by the force of his own will, and prepares to escape from view. As he vanishes, Vortigern howls, stung by a well placed crossbow bolt.

Janna floats delicately into the pit, landing blithely on her feet before the cruel cultist.

Back in the study, Kevezyat can't find the invisible imp.

Samduc gestures towards the door, holding up the staff. "I got it. Let's go see if the others are alright."

Samduc reaches the door, inserts the holy cross shaped pommel into the depression and turns. The door begins to grind open. Only then does he grudgingly take Damien's advice and begin to scribe names to ward off the Caryatid Columns. He starts with Leoven.

Is there a book about Hell? Or Orcus, if so the Jerrid will look for a name. Its a quick search not a detailed one.

Damien notices that the wounds on the unconscious imp are stitching themselves back together right before his eyes. It may not be dead yet.

Jerrid finds a good suited collection of volumes dealing with the abyss in a section near the dais. The rest of the room has Eralion's older sections dealing with magic and good faiths.

Damien, I totally forgot the fast healing. Good catch.

Jerrid, this guy has loads of books about the abyss and Orcus. He got really into that stuff at the end of his life. But it will take time to research.
