Janna the staff is on display in the 5'x10' alcove in the eastern wall by Jerrid.

Sam tries on a fine suit of small armor made for what must have been an elven child out of gleaming silver white metal.

The links of the mail tinkle like bells as he tries it on.

Unsure of the rest of the 900gp

The deep gnome digs around the piles to find something a little more his size. Then he spots a white serpent scaled belt with an ebony clasp. It fits around his waist almost of its own volition and the snug fit suits Jerrid.

Underneath it is a hair-comb with black and white tines, and the rogue puts that in his pocket for later. It tingles with ever-changing hues of magical energy and that is attractive.

Nearby is a well crafted backpack of dark grey leather, and inside he finds a small box containing a beautiful set of cards in shiny edged golds and silvers. The cards are fine fortune-teller's cards and fit securely into the pack.
Finally rolling around inside is a part used wand of cold steel. There may be 20 charges left inside the engraved magical short rod.

Jerrid finds a belt of tumbling (800gp), hat of disguise (1,800gp), mwk backpack (50gp), masterwork fortune-teller's kit (50gp) and a wand of heightened awareness (CL1, 20 charges, 300gp)

He looks around to admire the lovely suit of armour that Sam slips into and nods his approval.

Drained and exhausted, Leoven just take a little rod that nobody else seems to wants.

Lately I've been too busy to make meaningful posts, but I vote for moving on

I think just Damien is left to select his gear, but the other question is, what do you guys want to do next?

Kevezyat joins the others in making her way through the assorted treasure, seeking something useful for their journey into danger.

She stops, looking at a set of armor positioned in one of the further alcoves. Virdigris and grime coated the sections of plate making the armor look most unsavory.

For some reason however, she was drawn to it. Pulling one of her daggers free, she gently taps one of the plates with the pommel, the grime falling away like so much dead skin, revealing a gleaming, but blackened piece of armor....perfect.

Slowly she makes her way around the suit of armor, tapping here and there, revealing a suit of armor fit for a warrior of light, but of the dark. Finished, she regarded the armor, the often uncanny angles of the seemingly random plates...fitting the dichotomy of her existience.

Nodding, she raises her head and whispers thanks to her Protector and Friend, Freya, and unceremoniously discards her chain armor and begins to step into the revealed suit of of armor.

"Damien, can you lend a hand, please..." she asks gently.

So yeah, Armageddon plate...maybe some potions but might just take the rest as gems....

Janna at first looked about but soon her eyes fell on a staff.

making her way through the treasure piles Janna reaches for the staff.

taking it, she looks it over, finally, I have found you. she says to herself but still out loud.

turning to everyone as they look for items.

thank you everyone, I wasn't so sure this was going to work out, I was afraid that we were to late and there was nothing left. but it all worked out.

her face turns a little somber, I am afraid that our contract is done. so If anyone no longer wishes to travel with me I'll understand.

Vhillish too checks through the riches and items with interest.

He discovers a magical quiver containing a plethora of specialist crossbow bolts.

(Efficient Quiver; 10 Acid Bolts; 20 Alchemical Silver Bolts and 20 Cold Iron Bolts.)

In addition he collects a small box of potions, a finely carved darkwood buckler and pockets some small gemstones.

(2 Potions of Hide from Undead; 2 Potions of Bless Weapon & 2 Potions of Remove Fear.)

The small veteran replies to Janna's polite regret;

"My Lady. You have been a consummate employer and I for one would be happy to accompany you on further travels... Even Master Kinslarn, albeit his morals are somewhat questionable whot-whot!"

The gnome's moustache twitches wryly at the last comment, and he bows gracefully to Janna before assisting Damien with collection of further treasures...

oh yeah, thanks, though the way this dice roller hates me, I probably will forget what magic is before all of this is done.

As the group settles in for a rest Janna takes some time to learn of her new staff.

spellcraft: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
know arcana: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (10) + 8 = 18

Janna saw something about this staff when she was reading the books downstairs. She has been researching it ever since she was an apprentice. And so she knows it's command words.

Jerrid takes a moment to tell the rest what the crypt thing said. He knows they like to discuss and plan but the gnome would rather have left well alone until after the Golden Palms. But it might be important.

"Look that undead guardian gave us this message. But I want them Golden Palms Janna. But it said, "Eralion leaves you this message. He swears fealty to prince Orcus. He looks forward to an eternity of unlife for his service. The Shard of Corruption is installed. It was smelted from the Heart of Innocence on the Brass Anvil. The water is spoiled. The dead drink, and soar in the shadows. Let no one living or dead disturb this great work.""

Kevezyat moves about, trying out her new armor, finding it fitting her perfectly.

Satisfied, she removes the armor to prepare for a much needed rest with the others.

As talk begins on what next to do, she nods at Jerrid's suggestiong, "The Golden Palms deserve a severe cumuppance, my dark friend. But they are not going anywhere, but here we have a threat to the entire land that must be extinguished."

She listens carefully to Jerrid's explanation of what the guardian said, "Then is as one feared, Eralion has fallen under the sway of the Prince of the Undead." she says softly , looking to Leoven, "It is sad to hear that a fellow follower of Thyr has fallen so low. "

"This Shard, though. Is there no way to destroy it?" she asks her friends.

"We should do some research on this shard whot? Must be some way to damage or destroy such a fell item... Perhaps pillar the gods for some guidance in the matter? Mistress Faen and Master Leovan being divine agents whot!"

Will bot Damian to keep him in the mix

Like his fellow veteran Damian also checks over his equipment and rests his combat weary bones.

As talk turns to the group's next move, the lean duelist nods grimly;

"Kev and our good deputy have to crux of it. While I agree that the Golden Palms are due a good arse kicking... they are a battle that will keep. Right now lines are being drawn by our enemy and we need to react accordingly..."

Jerrid grits his teeth. "Astor would have faced a living hell as a slave if we didn't deal with them. I promised myself I would go back there even if just to dent their operations in that village."

"You do what you want - but I've been a slave and its time for me to give some payback."

He shuffles his feet, suddenly white hot angry at its past and the nightmares and abruptly turns away and back again.

"Listen you arse kickers, I'll be reading.... about Shards with luck. You decide what you want to do, with or with out me. You got Sam."

He ghosts into the shadows and starts in on the books looking for obvious references to the words of the crypt thing.

Trying to Destroy the shard gets my vote, I would try to do it even if alone. - Leoven sighs at the contemplation of the evil men can do -something have to be done with the crypt thing, the evil undead can't be allowed to wander freely

If nobody wants to fight the crypt for the time being, Leovens prepare himself to cleanse the shrine of Tyr. Luckily he have a last flask of holy water, but it might prove to be to little.

Janna stows away her new staff.

Well as far as I am concerned, I think the Shard is important, but I also understand Jerrid. I think that the Golden Palm should be taken care of.

She looks a bout not finding Jerrid anywhere, (she is not that good at finding those that can stealth so well)

The deep gnome spits on the dusty ground, aiming for a little spider and smiles with satisfaction when the beast gets stuck.

He flicks it free with a grey nail and then returns to his reading.

The eerie crypt thing looks on as Jerrid studies the books. The deep gnome finds journals detailing how Eralion made an anvil in a cave linked to the elemental plane of fire. It was in the foothills of the stoneheart mountains. This is where the Shard of Corruption was forged and where it can be undone. Jerrid finds a map. It looks to be about 30 miles away.

Kevezyat listens to Jerrid's explanation of what he's found, nodding, "So we take this Shard back to the sight of it's creation, where it can be destroyed. Excellent."

She looks up from the map, seeing the conflict on her friend's face, "Jerrid, my dark brother...if you must go, I for one will not gainsay your choice. But stay, help us obtain the Shard, then if we must part ways, let it be with clear hearts, in the hope that we will meet again."

"Who cares about hearts when there are slaves being sold as we sit here. Try it some time then see how clear yours is. I hate everything about that," the gnome argues.

"The Shard, then the creation, then this, then that and all the time people like Astor are being abused, mutilated and forced to do things against their will. There will always be another effin' cult or dark plan, but these people need us now! And they are right here."

The gnome wrings his hands in frustration at the placid drow, until he gets it. "You want my help then promise me that when the Shard is destroyed, you will help me destroy the Golden Palms. That's the deal. Give your word and i'll give mine."

"Master Kinslarn's words do cut deep whot! Whilst the largest evil is undoubtably The Shard... the deeds of these slavers are no less nefarious... Best we campaign against both!"

Damian stands stoically as he too listens, leaning wearily on his Lucern Hammer.

"So its settled. We end the threat of Eralion and his Shard, then Kinslarn we have a reckoning with those Golden Palm basterds... You have my word."

Well there was the answer to the Crypt Thing's riddle, the name of the 666th son of Orcus, Mhazoul. But that was just to make the crypt thing speak his message.

Jerrid shrugs to Kev. "I don't expect to find anything quickly. But that is what will take time - there are many books and I've spent an hour or two so far. Eralion spent years on this."

Yeah Mhazoul, unless there is more in that section on the crypt thing. We could be going back and forth for ages on this but DMG usually gives us all in one hit of knowledge.

The deep gnome nods to Leoven.
