Alestar Brom - "The Skold" |
"...and Holy Water! Lots of Holy Water! I can do some damage with that stuff! Maybe your priest had a supply of this in the temple coffers?
Can we just spend the money on Alchemists Fire and assume I made it? Hate to see them outsource that kind of things. The Kings got an Alchemist.

You arrive at the cemetery in question as the suns starts to set. Sitting in the poorer part of town, the once grand masoleums have long since been abandoned, the dead inside either moved to a newer home or long forgotten. Plants have taken over the once proud site, and the masoleum that contains the stairs down to the crypt you seek is easy to find as it is the only one still even remotely maintained. The heavy stone door is closed, and you can't help but feel like you are being watched despite not seeing anything, even animals, in the ruined cemetary beside yourself.
Alestar Brom - "The Skold" |
Cautiously approaching the perimeter of the structure, Alestar crouchs down next to King and rubs his sides. Scratching his muzzle and ears, he whispers in his ear and releases him...
"This looks like the place for sure. Let's see if King can snuff out any alternative entrances these guys might have. Maybe we can catch them off guard instead of knocking on the front...uh...door...grave...whatever."
Crouching with his crossbow at the ready, Alestar follows King and aids in the search for a hidden entrance to the mausoleum.
Aid Another (King): Survival Roll: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21
Declan |
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Declan was a bit tired when they woke, and remained so due to his scribing one of the several scrolls that he had purchased into his spellbook. Also of note on his person were two bottles of holy water, securely stowed on his waist. As before, he was letting those used to and capable of being on the front lines do so, keeping his eyes open as they went. As a curiosity, when they paused to search, he did a single sweep with his spell, augmenting his senses to see if there had been any magic done in their vicinity that he could detect.
He was still keeping his expression as neutral as possible, since he was still healing, part of the tattooed side of his face smeared with an ointment that smelled strongly of green herbs, something that he was thankful for, since the scent of the graveyard was as one would expect. At least he did not have to worry about annoying cleanup after, nor did the rest of the Kings. As for finding what they were looking for, he was thinking that they would be entering wherever they would be hiding through a mausoleum.
There was also another missing member of the Kings, and Declan was uncertain about what to think of that. If one was to think of it logically, it seemed all of those shorter in height had something happen to them, and if it was a progressive thing, was he the next shortest? Surreptitiously, he glanced at the other Kings, comparing height...

After a while of searching Alestar and King returned to the threshold of the first mausoleum. Taking up a stance on the outside wall Alestar edges the business end of his crossbow inside peeking to see what lies within...
"Well...This looks like our only option Kings! I'll cover the door. Who wants to take the lead. Where that short fella that's always rolling around?"
Zeljka "Chop Wizard" Gakki |
"Lovely. A great ol' lovely chokepoint. A bottleneck. And here I thought my day couldn't get any better."
The half-orc's words spilled sardonically from a mouth lazily hanging open, but the well-worn, crooked battleaxe held in a vise grip by her left hand belied the calm humor with which she spoke.
Readying an action to smack anything nasty-looking (a monster or similar) that comes out of the crypt once we get the door open.
Declan |
Declan nodded and lifted a hand in acknowledgement of Zeljka's words, and kept an eye out ahead of her, ready to assist however he could. The graveyard set him on edge, but he was pretty certain that it was mostly his imagination doing that, but still.. Cults and necromancers... At least he was getting paid for this.
Alestar Brom - "The Skold" |
Alestar peeked out from behind his crossbow, resting against the door jamb. Giving a quick salute to his brow he said...
"Right behind you! Just covering the door!"
Ready an Attack Action with the crossbow, anything nasty comes out that door when it's opened and click...
King - The Crimson Hound |
Walks carefully over to the door and takes a couple long snuffs...
Perception Roll: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (17) + 8 = 25
Survival Roll: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
"Rrrrrrrr Gruff!!!"
King moves over to Zeljka's side facing the door and crouches into an attack stance...ears pinned flat to his head and muzzle curled into a fierce snarl, flashing his long canines.
The Voice of Wisdom |
King can pick up the scent of a good sized group of people passing through recently. As far as current activity in the chapel or on the stairs, there is only the party.
The door is what you came through to enter the small chapel, the stairs probably once had a door but that has long since vanished. Looking down the stairs, they go down a level before evening off and turning into a hallway.
