The forces of Chaos work to undermine the capital of a sub-sector. Can they earn the notice of their dark gods and lead a Crusade to burn the Corpse-God's followers?

101 to 150 of 150 << first < prev | 1 | 2 | 3 | next > last >>

Cool, thanks guys. I was just worried that I had made a mistake. This is my first time with Black Crusade so there is a very real possibility that I've messed up along the way.

I imagine we all did, in our own unique ways.

Written communication is, as ever, a horribly imprecise tool.

haha! You KNOW I messed up. A quick check of my profile will show I had to line through a couple of psyker powers and advances on two stats because I overspent. LOL Apparently math is hard for accountants!

Answers to correspondence:
For power armor rolls, roll one extra time and pick your rolls.
Legacy weapons are fine.
Social and stealth situations should occur, unless nobody could possibly blend in.
The warband is free to split up and advance their objectives according to their skills.

There will be major party goals, but how to do them will be decided by the players. Twisting the Arbites to Chaos, for example, could have renegades and other humans whispering in the precinct while the Marines capture and terrorize their patrols.

Well...that makes things interesting.

I'm tempted to try it for the Neural Whip (Rare= -10)

1st: 16 [dice]1d100[/roll] Corruption= 14
2nd: 19 [dice]1d100[/roll] Corruption= 19
3rd: 22 [dice]1d100[/roll] Corruption= 24
4th: 25 [dice]1d100[/roll] Corruption= 29

Legacy of Pain and selecting/rolling from the Merciless list (if successful)

or I can be a dumbass and mix rolling formats from two boards (Paizo vs. GitP).

Neural Whip (Rare= -10)

1st: 16 1d100 ⇒ 26 Corruption= 14
2nd: 19 1d100 ⇒ 73 Corruption= 19
3rd: 22 1d100 ⇒ 23 Corruption= 24
4th: 25 1d100 ⇒ 29 Corruption= 29

Legacy of Pain and selecting/rolling from the Merciless list (if successful)

Honest to God, I think I like rolling for stuff just for the hell of it.

So close. Missed it by 1% I can always keep trying :D (Or hope for a Force Spear. Not hinting, but hint hint lol)

Gotta love the CSM Sorcerer starting with a Force Weapon. Since I could choose, I chose a scythe. That's likely what I'm going to try turning into my legacy weapon.

Alright, rolling for some Armour Customizations!

Armour Cust.: 2d10 ⇒ (8, 7) = 15
Well then, I guess I'll go for Devotional Iconography and really seal this Slaanesh deal I got going so far.

Which leads me to a question - so I was viewing my character as kind of a charasmatic type who wishes to gather many to him and send them to do his Bidding. So I was wondering how the running of minions and such would be run - should I have the opportunity to acquire any.

That may take some time. To elevate your Force weapon you need to make an Infamy test with some specific penalties.

-30 Very Rare (starting difficulty for any Force weapon per CRB p. 149) -50 Near Unique (per entry listed on p. 164)

-10 "Force" quality (ToB p. 51)

(Note: this is not an Acquisition test, therefore there is no modifier for quantity)

So you'll need an Infamy greater than 60. Fortunately, you can take this test every time your Infamy increases.

Alright my background is done which means that my submission should be ready for consideration. I'd like to repost it here (it's in my profile as well) in case anyone wants to read it. I'm always looking for feedback/suggestions on stuff like this.

Spoiler:

Pride: Fortitude
Disgrace: Hubris
Motivation: Legacy

Like so many other traitors, the fall of Adyl Dinedes began with good intentions. Once he was a dedicated warrior of the War Hounds legion, 2nd Grand Company. Strong, capable, loyal, idealistic, and most of all stubborn; it would take a less direct approach to lead him astray.

When the War Hounds found their lost father, the Primarch Angron, they took on his new mantle of World Eaters, Adyl included. With this came the first step down the path of ruin: the Butcher's Nails. Like the rest of his brothers Adyl happily accepted the implantation, so trusting was he of his new Lord. As a result, just like the rest of the legion, his psyche was irreparably damaged from the introduction of the barbaric devices. He would come to suffer all manner of mental issues: schizophrenia, paranoid delusions, enhanced aggression. The seed of chaos had been planted.

Meanwhile, the Horus Heresy was in full swing. The Warmaster had gathered his allies, Adyl and the rest of the World Eaters among them, and was making his way for the Isstvan system. Adyl never considered himself a traitor, but his loyalty to his Primarch was absolute. In the night, as he slept, strange voices would find his ear and whisper of all the good that this would do for mankind, that this was just a necessary sacrifice to that end. He carried that belief with him all the way to the surface of Isstvan III where he would turn his blade on the still loyal members of his legion without remorse or question.

By the time Horus' rebellion had reached the doors of holy Terra, Adyl was completely absorbed in the idea that they were saving humanity. He had spent so much time alone with the whispering winds that he became completely at their mercy; he only need be told that his cause was just and no act would be to heinous for him to commit in its pursual. Even while daemons swarmed the field around him, his father had ascended to Daemonhood, and Horus and the Emperor had their duel far above he carried on without the slightest hesitation. History has already recorded the outcome of this battle though, Adyl was to serve his purpose...elsewhere.

While Khan had taken the remainder of the legion and gone to the Eye of Terror to lick their wounds, Adyl was drawn elsewhere by the voices that plagued him. To an out-of-the-way world called New Phaeton. Once there the warrior was somehow lulled into a quiet slumber. Left alone with only his own delusions and the voices of the warp, he slept for ten millennia. All the while he was subjected to unending visions of the bloated, stagnant beast that had once been the Imperium. Only he could save it, they said, only he could restore it to its former glory. But first he would need to burn it to the ground and start again...

-----

At one point in his life Adyl Dinedes was the ideal Astartes: noble in heart and ruthless on the battlefield. Now, however, he has been reduced to a mere shadow of his former self. He is absolutely, one-hundred percent, irrevocably, convinced that he is still a good and just warrior. Therefore, all his action are good and just by association. His ultimate driving force is the voices that only he can hear, though he gives them little thought beyond accepting their demands. As far as he is concerned, he is a dedicated defender of mankind - the reality couldn't be farther from the truth.

Despite this he still wears the original colours of the World Eaters on his armor, rather than that of the Berzerkers. The suits standard power supply was lost long ago, along with the helmet and arms. A power unit from a Land Raider has been used in place of the missing power unit which, while effective, yields an unusual aesthetic In addition, he still carries the armaments of his legion - including the infamous Butcher's Nails (along with a few other implants). Beyond that he has only one other possession of significance, something of great shame to him. A simple cloth sack that he found in the makeshift shrine outside of his chambers on New Phaeton. Within he found a handful of small treats which he found himself trying in a rare moment of curiosity. The instant it touched his tongue the marine was addicted to the taste, his lust for sweets fueled by his taste for violence as well as the fickle attitudes of the warp.

I may have missed it at some point but when is the deadline for this game and does anyone know how many slots are open?

Armor Customization: 1d10 ⇒ 7 Taking the Chain Loinguard. Gotta keep the gubbinz protected.
Armor Customization: 1d10 ⇒ 9

I like the backstory. I also very much like having someone to reliably intercept melee combatants for me and draw attention. :P

According to ToB, p. 51, he can spend one of his starting acquisitions to upgrade his force weapon into a legacy weapon.

"A player can instead make one of his character’s non-Heavy
starting weapons into a Legacy Weapon, but for each of the
Qualities listed above that it has, it counts as an item against
the number of equipment items he can acquire during character
creation (so, for example, if the weapon has two of these
Qualities, it counts as two pieces of equipment)."

Force is one of those qualities, so he only needs to spend one of his acquisitions upgrading it.

Disclaimer: I'm cursing myself for not noticing that sentence and not spending all three of my Dark Apostle's starting acquisitions making his accursed crozius into a legacy weapon of sucks to be a slave to the corpse emperor.

Nice catch, I was think only about elevating in-game!

Yeah I used one of my acquisitions to get the spiffy armor. Fortunately...I still have one acquisition left.

You ok with it Eldritch? Can I bump up my trusty neural whip to something a touch more hefty? Nahhhh I'd rather gain a Force Spear lol

Sign me up. I've decided to instead make my Chainsword a legacy weapon. I really don't intend to use it much, but I'm too tied to flexibility for my ranged weapons, and I don't mind being limited to only the Chainsword for melee weapons, as I imagine I can still fight unarmed despite having a melee legacy weapon.

What do I need to do next?

I rolled once for armor and got spikes. Hoping to roll a five on the second roll

1d10 ⇒ 3 Horns (darn)

We'll keep the spikes and pick up Torture Tools

Legacy weapons do have to be your primary weapon, the GM could [what's the word, de-legacyate? normalify? whatever] your chainsword if you rarely use.

Does my acquired light power armour get a history roll? If so, armour history: 1d10 ⇒ 8

EDIT: Hmm, that would be inappropriate for him as is, I would rather go with no history.

EDIT EDIT: On the other hand, it would be appropriate to say he got it from the legion he was attached to so he could be safer closer to battle, and quite literally grew into it (mechanoid gift and all).

EDIT the THIRD: Zurias, how do you get a reroll on armour history?

Julie, Do you have the ToB?

According to the GM you get two rolls select best for armor history

As stated many times, no. I am CRB only.

Also, I see, on the primary weapon requirement. Bummer, I was going to have it have been a trophy off of another pirate raider she killed and that's why it's a legacy weapon despite Julie rarely using such a tool, but that also makes sense.

Armour history the second: 1d100 ⇒ 62

because I accidentally another 0: 1d10 ⇒ 1

I'm not a legionnaire: 1d10 ⇒ 10

I'm still not a legionnaire: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

Hmm, horns or leftover Tzeentchian iconography. I'm not sure, but probably would go with horns.

WHOO! Backstory complete!

With that my character should be pretty much complete

Another cool backstory, very nice. :)

I've updated my personal history a bit, to give it a bit more flair.

Okay, I really ought to take a closer look at ToB, then.

Armour History Alternate: 1d10 ⇒ 7
EDIT: No thanks, I'll stick with spikes. My loins are fine.

@ Eldritch: How many of my Infamy equipment purchases would a Psychic Hood cost? If possible I'd like to make my Force Scythe a Legacy weapon on top of that.
Actually, I suppose I should ask straight up: Am I even allowed a Psychic hood? They're really dang useful, possibly too useful.

Props to Adyl and Valefor for their excellent backstories. You guys made me add a bit to my own.

Looks like we have the following:

Julie Dei Vult- Renegade (Slaanesh)
Zurias- Psyker (Slaanesh)
Hephaest- Heretek (Unaligned)
Domitan- CSM Sorcerer (Tzeentch)
Adyl Dinedes- CSM Berserker (Khorne)
Valefor Du'in- CSM Forsaken (Unaligned)

Look right?

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Looks good to me, it's kinda cool that we got an even split of humans and marines. Gives us a good range of options when approaching situations. Though those aligned are gravitating towards Slaanesh and Tzeentch. Haven't y'all heard the good word of Khorne?

Buncha ninnies

If I do happen to get in I'll just say that I ended up with a lowly score of 24 in my intelligence (drops to 14 when frenzied). My ability to contribute clever plans or lore will be limited as most of my attention has been given to smashing rocks with my forehead.

Though if you need a situation solved in the most brutally direct way possible, I'm your guy.

Well...I'm your genetically modified super-soldier, that is.

Well good, can you carry my flamer for me? It's too heavy. :P

I could swore that said buncha wimps earlier...maybe it's the weed...

Taking your time to worship the Prince of Excess, Zurias? Perhaps later tonight.

Needed to do some "pre-workout" warming up haha!

Julie Dei Vult- Renegade (Slaanesh)
Zurias- Psyker (Slaanesh)
Hephaest- Heretek (Unaligned)
Domitan- CSM Sorcerer (Tzeentch)
Adyl Dinedes- CSM Berserker (Khorne)
Valefor Du'in- CSM Forsaken (Unaligned)

Recruitment is closing, anyone who submitted a concept not on the above list who is still interested should post to that effect.

HUZZAH! /happydance

Some Sexy Chaos Armor

Here's a linky to the page (just in case you want some painted armor)!

I got a question for you guys. Well, maybe one of opinion for you guys.

I plan on forgoing my arm armor (along with my helmet) in favor of burly aesthetics. I assume that I would no longer apply the +20 STR bonus to any of my melee attacks, which I'm fine with. My question is, do you think I would lose the limitation of being able to use only Legion weapons and equipment as well?

Julie Dei Vult wrote:

Little one, I can carry you without a further thought, let alone a mere flamer. You need only ask and I will act as the armored Rhino to ferry you across the field of carnage.

Master Blaster, as it were, in the spirit of the new Mad Max film.

Nope. Without those bulky astronaut gloves I would believe you can use (just about) any weapon. Except maybe the smaller pistols. Can't fit your giant sausage fingers in the trigger guard haha

OMG LOOK OUT!!!! Some free-roaming Skittles just ran by!

I guess if you really want to go Kharne style, sure be sleeveless.

The item just needs have an Acquisition modifier of -10 or higher, right? A psychic hood with poor craftsmanship is -10, and doesn't need to replace all of your free item Acquisitions.

I wouldn't see why not since you refuse to wear your glorious Spesh-Mahn gloves.

I also think you could probably coerce some smaller creature into refitting any weapon you want for your big meaty paws.

Finally, and if all else fails, you could always get me to find someone to do it for you - I have my ways of getting the things I want out of these savages.

Ugh. Pet Peeve alert! Anything Nurgle was called FATBOY. I don't mean "once in a while haha" it was more like: "FFS stop doing that, it's wrecking the verisimilitude!"

WITH A BOX OF SCRAPS!!!

Any idea on when the Discussion and Gameplay tabs will open?

I certainly would be down for a themed group, some day, where we all play Khorne aligned berserkers with a humorous affectation such as English accents. :P

I have an idea ;p

Soonish.

I wait with bated breath. Does that mean we can assume that the six on the list above have made it in?

Indeed. There is room for more if anyone who has previously submitted still wants in, but the list is a good start.

Here we go! I'm pretty excited!

Six is a good number. Slaanesh will be pleased!

Something something something, Tzeentch. Woo, chaos.

In all seriousness, I'm stoked for this.

I'm really interested to see how this opens.

Damn it, now I'm stuck in deadpan. Help.
I need more sugar; trying to write excitedly is rather difficult when you've been sitting at work for an hour.

For anyone that hadn't noticed: gameplay and discussion are open.
