indeed :) i figured since assassins are in her portfolio it'd be cool, but, if not, standard warpriest will work too.

It fits. Go for it.

The grapple bite barbarian dhampir. Favorite method of fighting is to grapple his opponent, bite down, and suck the life out of them. Blood drinker does 2 points of constitution damage and triggers on every bite attack. So after 4-6 bites, the typical drow should have no con if they aren't dead from the combination of bites and negative con modifiers.

Did not finish equipment selection beyond the minimum. Not sure what kind of campaign this is going to be. Urban? Underdark sprawl? etc. I also hope to flesh out the background with some player collaboration(if I'm picked that is).

Future plans for the character are to take another Barbarian level, then switch to fighter and stick to that till glory or death.

Anyways, thoughts? Suggestions?

Special Abilities:

------------------------------
Class
------------------------------
Fast Movement A barbarian's land speed is faster than the norm for her race by +10 feet. This benefit applies only when he is wearing no armor, light armor, or medium armor, and not carrying a heavy load. Apply this bonus before modifying the barbarian's speed because of any load carried or armor worn. This bonus stacks with any other bonuses to the barbarian's land speed.

Rage A barbarian can call upon inner reserves of strength and ferocity, granting her additional combat prowess. Starting at 1st level, a barbarian can rage for a number of rounds per day equal to 4 + her Constitution modifier. At each level after 1st, she can rage for 2 additional rounds. Temporary increases to Constitution, such as those gained from rage and spells like bear's endurance, do not increase the total number of rounds that a barbarian can rage per day. A barbarian can enter rage as a free action. The total number of rounds of rage per day is renewed after resting for 8 hours, although these hours do not need to be consecutive.

While in rage, a barbarian gains a +4 morale bonus to her Strength and Constitution, as well as a +2 morale bonus on Will saves. In addition, she takes a –2 penalty to Armor Class. The increase to Constitution grants the barbarian 2 hit points per Hit Dice, but these disappear when the rage ends and are not lost first like temporary hit points. While in rage, a barbarian cannot use any Charisma-, Dexterity-, or Intelligence-based skills (except Acrobatics, Fly, Intimidate, and Ride) or any ability that requires patience or concentration.

A barbarian can end her rage as a free action and is fatigued after rage for a number of rounds equal to 2 times the number of rounds spent in the rage. A barbarian cannot enter a new rage while fatigued or exhausted but can otherwise enter rage multiple times during a single encounter or combat. If a barbarian falls unconscious, her rage immediately ends, placing her in peril of death.

Rage Power(Animal Fury) While raging, the barbarian gains a bite attack. If used as part of a full attack action, the bite attack is made at the barbarian's full base attack bonus –5. If the bite hits, it deals 1d4 points of damage (assuming the barbarian is Medium; 1d3 points of damage if Small) plus half the barbarian's Strength modifier. A barbarian can make a bite attack as part of the action to maintain or break free from a grapple. This attack is resolved before the grapple check is made. If the bite attack hits, any grapple checks made by the barbarian against the target this round are at a +2 bonus.

Rage Power(Savage Jaw) While raging, the barbarian can open her jaw wide and latch her teeth firmly onto her opponent. While using the animal fury rage power, the barbarian can activate this power as a free action and gain the grab ability with her bite attack until the start of her next turn. This power can be used only once per rage.

Trap Sense At 3rd level, a barbarian gains a +1 bonus on Reflex saves made to avoid traps and a +1 dodge bonus to armor class against attacks made by traps. These bonuses increase by +1 every three barbarian levels thereafter (6th, 9th, 12th, 15th, and 18th level). Trap sense bonuses gained from multiple classes stack.

Uncanny Dodge At 2nd level, a barbarian gains the ability to react to danger before her senses would normally allow her to do so. She cannot be caught flat-footed, nor does she lose her Dex bonus to AC if the attacker is invisible. She still loses her Dexterity bonus to armor class if immobilized. A barbarian with this ability can still lose her Dexterity bonus to armor class if an opponent successfully uses the feint action against her.

------------------------------
Feats
------------------------------
Blood Drinker(Drow) Choose one humanoid subtype, such as “goblinoid” (this subtype cannot be “dhampir”). You have acquired a taste for the blood of creatures with this subtype. Whenever you drink fresh blood from such a creature, you gain 5 temporary hit points and a +1 bonus on checks and saves based on Constitution. The effects last 1 hour. If you feed multiple times, you continue to gain hit points to a maximum of 5 temporary hit points for every three Hit Dice you have, but the +1 bonus on Constitution-based skill checks and saving throws does not stack.

Normally, you can only drink blood from an opponent who is helpless, grappled, paralyzed, pinned, unconscious, or similarly disabled. If you have a bite attack, you can drink blood automatically as part of your bite attack; otherwise, you must first cut your target by dealing 1 hit point of damage with a slashing or piercing weapon (though you may feed upon a creature with severe wounds or a bleed effect without cutting it first). Once you cut the target, you can drink from its wound as a standard action. Drinking blood deals 2 points of Constitution damage to the creature you feed upon. The blood must come from a living creature of the specified humanoid subtype. It cannot come from a dead or summoned creature. Feeding on unwilling intelligent creatures is an evil act.

Extra Rage Power: Savage Jaw You gain one additional rage power. You must meet all of the prerequisites for this rage power

------------------------------
Race
------------------------------
Darkvision Dhampir see perfectly in the dark up to 60 feet.

Fangs On occasion, a dhampir may inherit his father's lengthy canines. Whenever the dhampir makes a grapple combat maneuver check to damage an opponent, he can choose to bite his opponent, dealing 1d3 points of damage as if using a natural bite attack. As a standard action, the dhampir can bite a creature that is bound, helpless, paralyzed, or similarly unable to defend itself. This racial trait replaces the spell-like ability racial trait.

Light Sensitivity Dhampirs are dazzled in areas of bright sunlight or within the radius of a daylight spell.

Low-light vision In addition to their ability to see perfectly in the dark up to 60 ft, dhampir have low-light vision, allowing them to see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light.

Manipulative Dhampire gain a +2 racial bonus on Bluff and Perception checks.

Negative Energy Affinity Though a living creature, a dhampir reacts to positive and negative energy as if it were undead—positive energy harms it, while negative energy heals it.

Undead Resistance Dhampirs gain a +2 racial bonus on saving throws against disease and mind-affecting effects.

Resist Level Drain A dhampir takes no penalties from energy drain effects, though he can still be killed if he accrues more negative levels then he has Hit Dice. After 24 hours, any negative levels a dhampir takes are removed without the need for an additional saving throw.

------------------------------
Traits/Drawback
------------------------------
Bastard You gain a +1 trait bonus on Sense Motive checks, and Sense Motive is always a class skill for you.

Black Sheep You gain a +1 trait bonus on Knowledge (local) checks, and Knowledge (local) is a class skill for you. In addition, you can choose any one notorious citizen from below as an ally; depending on the person you pick, you’ll get different benefits. Bitter Nobleman: choose one of the following skills: Bluff, Sleight of Hand, or [Stealth]. Your work for him gives you a +1 trait bonus on that skill, and it is always a class skill for you.

Numerological Gift When you select this trait, roll 3d6. The resulting number becomes your numerological totem and can never be changed. Once per day, when you roll your totem number on a d20 (such as an attack roll, save, or skill check), you may treat that roll as if you had rolled a natural 20 on the die.

Family Ties When a family member makes a request of you, you must fulfill that request or take a –2 penalty on all Wisdom- and Charisma-based ability checks and skill checks until you either do what was requested or succeed at a DC 20 Will saving throw, which you can attempt once per day at the start of each day. You can’t take this drawback if you have no family. If you ever lose your family or lose contact with your family, exchange this drawback for the Doubt drawback.

Background:

Calas, thin-blood of house Kewadin. He is the off-spring of a drow mother and a vampire father. As such, he gains all the benefits of having such a prestigious blood-line. Which is s%~!-all. Half-bloods are second class citizens after all. That's fine though. When you're under-estimated it makes it easier. After all, drow blood is a delicacy. Should try it sometime.

Technically, Calas is a member of the house family but he's not quite sure where he is supposed to rank. Somewhere above goblins and orcs, but somewhere below everyone else. Kewadin has at least fed Calas properly though. After all, someone has to thin out the enemies, and what's more humiliating than to die thin-blooded?

[ooc]Kinda want to add more to this, maybe collaborate with the other players to connect us a bit?[\ooc]

Appearance and Personality:

For a dhampir, Calas doesn't look too different than his drow mother. He has the long pointed ears, solid white eyes, and silvery hair of a drow. But, the normally dusky violet skin of the drow is tainted with a ghastly pallor and his incisors are unnaturally long. Also, despite the frail nature of drow, Calas looks solid and strong. Lean muscle stretchs across his tall elven frame and scars criss-cross his body where swords, whips, and other instruments have marked him.

Calas's main goal in life is to earn enough respect, or fear, to be treated as a proper citizen of the city. If he manages to get a few drinks along the way, then all the better.

Calas is quick to laugh, and socialize with whomever is actually willing to. While it is true that the city is the proper place to be stabbed in the back, it's best done together with friends and family. Calas is also not afraid to show off his vampiric side, going so far as to enjoying a drink during a battle.

p.s. I really hope there are a lot of drow on drow fights, otherwise this build loses a lot of it's thunder.

That high-lethality gestalt you mentioned earlier sounds cool. I have a lot of ideas for a proud gestalt hero, or a not so flashy supporter for the flashy heroes like some kind of rogue/wrecker oracle. Also, Arryn's done now. http://paizo.com/people/ArrynBlake

I was tempted too, but a gm with their gloves off sounds scary.

Eh. Worst case scenario is still a cooler death than getting nuked with mass inflict whilst invisible because the PFS GM says it hits, or getting hit by Harm followed by a blowdart.

With this I think Vicalan is finally done. :)

Goals and Ambitions:

Vicalan is primarily interested in expanding his personal power. Perhaps one day finding out a way to bring about his apotheosis into a full drow dragon with the knowledge of an archmage. Seeking out arcane secrets, experimenting with his magic, and crafting both traps as well as spells of his own devising are his current schemes of choice. Secondary is his pursuit of external power and knowledge. Unburdened of the arrogance of other drow and their limited view with so called lesser races, more so in the spider queen's favored city, he seeks out relationships and alliances with any that prove useful.

He would form a organization of his own, bearing both a personal army and network of spies and contacts that answer to him. A task that has been done before by others, yet wealth and status are not his ends. Nor the revolution of his people as his forebears claim. His deepest desire is a realm of his own to rule with magic and merits at it's core. Something akin to Sshamath yet more polished and pure, free of the backbiting and ego of those that seek to bring down their betters rather then overcome them by sheer skill.

Working on my character, and while I realize it was my choice to not have a real 'dump' stat, it sucks have nothing above a 14 and mostly all of them at that. Very average for a Noble Drow imo.

Hope my PC holds up against the others.

Missionz3r0: Made an alias for my submission, few clean ups but mostly the same as the forum post. Mostly fixing my point-buy, for some reason I thought this was a 1 to 1 point buy. Dropped stats to a sane level now.

After reading through some of the other characters, I think that I'll keep tabs on the game even if I don't make it in. Will be a good read I'm sure.

For now, this is Ellara. I just need to finish equipment and pick spells.

GM Choon wrote:

Thank you sir. I will stay in the running then if you don't mind. Here's to luck of being picked!

Don't worry.

I'm a friggin' half-demon and my best stat is a 16 for now.
(that will change however)
=)

Look at it this way...maybe he's like my Draegloth? He's technically a immature Drow and has not yet come into his full measure as a Noble Drow adult yet?

@Hakk'viddaro I'm a bit scared to see what happens when the half demon comes into its own.

Why? We'd be on the same side until ordered to kill a party member. Don't fail too much, don't succeed too much, and you'll like a little longer.

Apologies, it was an obscured reference to the end of Avengers. When Loki first saw the Tesseract (?) in the end of credits clip....just felt right atm; meaning the points for the half-demon...

Well, that may be worth a look.

Ellara wrote:

Bah. Not if I succeed furthering your endeavors!

The stench of it came to him just before he turned the corner and came face to chest with Hakk'Viddaro. Calas's brother was impressive specimen. He was at least seven and a half feet tall, had a chest that was twice the size of Calas's own body, had fierce claws, and a a pronounced toothy mouth.

Ah... Right then...

"How goes brother? Or should I say Half-brother.... or is it quarter-brother now?" Calas said through a smile.

Hope he's in a good mood today.

Calas respected his brother, he had status, power, and was a half-breed to boot. Albeit, a holy one. They didn't talk enough though. There was probably a kinship somewhere in there that could be made. After all, they both liked biting people.

"Need help? I'm feeling a bit peckish, and I know you like a to find a good fight now and then."

If he's not in a good mood... well... Let's just not worry about that. I could probably take him, but I'd rather not

was there ever an approximate date given?

3 people marked this as a favorite.

I've come up with an answer to my selection pains! I'll just accept all of you! All... 1-2-3-4-... 17 of you! Yes. That's a good plan...

Oh ya. That. I'm on it.

It is currently 375 DR, The Year of the Woeful Resurrection

Darn. I was so busy with work I didn't get a chance to work on my character. :(

Three tables at once? Let's do it.

Or we could just do one huge party!

Definitely won't get confusing. Nope. No chance.

Does this still hold?

'Recruitment will go until the 15th.'

Personally, I think it should go to the 18th, to give players with work the weekend to finish, but that's obviously the GMs call.

That was the original deadline, but I'm also ok with the 18th. Life happens. That would also give people like SCKnightHero a chance.

Deadline delayed until the evening (EST) of the 18th to give busy people a chance.

sweet! because buying gear is hard. i planned to have backstory done tonight, but i hate shopping.

Cool, will give me more time to shore up backstory and personality a bit more.

So many half breeds and nobles, hope we get along. By drow getting along, I mean we don't kill each other without good reason. By good reason I mean more then just "I don't like your face" or "You took the last fungus cake, your dead!" ;)

Unfortunately drow are normally chaotic so any reason is a good reason...lol.

No, if you ate the last fungus cake, then you're dead. It was the one with the poison in it. :)

That brings up a point I have been thinking a bit about lately.

Would poison actually be an efficient thing to utilize in drow society considering they all have poor fort saves (con penalty) or really bad since everyone is expecting it and constantly sipping antitoxin?

Depends on which brand of paranoia you develop, I'd think.

While on the topic of healthy eating, have you looked into the Unchained affliction (mainly poison) system?

It's a bit annoying that Drow Poison sorta doesn't really fit with it super well, but for most others it is a nice little way to inject some real danger.

(I mean, making so that people can actually die from poisoning seems fitting for an Underdark campaign, don't you think : )?)

Don't know what the drow's normal alignment will be for this one. Pathfinder drow are NE not CE.

As for poison, all drow use it so I would think they have defenses against it and expect it as a fact of life. Which makes it rarely used as a result or a task to deliver it covertly. But no doubt in a fight they can and will use it, expecting the same from their enemy. The most common non-magical means of avoiding poison I think would be to have a food taster slave rather then taking antitoxin before every meal. Cheaper that way to. Or have a detect poison or purify food and drink item, their are some. Spellcasters get one or the other normally as a at will.

You also have to consider who you poison or risk poisoning. Poison is a tool against those that are stronger not weaker. Remember drow law too, failure to flawlessly kill your betters is a death sentence. :)

P.S. Don't know the unchained rules for poison, but normal rules let you kill someone via poison. What's the difference?

If some one is going to specialize in poison, there are few interesting variants on regular poisons, mostly from the various player companions. Which I know are up on the PFSRD.

Scarab Sages

I have thought about using the Unchained poison and disease system, but was going to discuss it with the chosen party before gameplay.

Cool! And just curious here but could we play as a half-dragon drow? If allowed I think our point buy needs to be reduced by 5 (so 15 for commoners and 10 for nobles). But that's just me.

Well, considering my character, Jaraxus will be using Poisons quite often and those are pretty big part of him in all situations (and of course, combat too).

Having that extra "omph" to damage section (drow poison, etc) is also fun to play since you never know what might happen

I did work with one character to flavor him into a half dragon type of thing. Depends on what you're thinking character wise. Keep in mind that if you're not full drow you're not fully a person. :)

Would be interesting if this campaign was about the struggles of all the half breeds going around. I'm sure some interesting rumours will be swirling around house Kewadin.

Good thing a Draegloth is considered 'almost' a holy blessing of Lolth to any Drow family.

up until we start offing one another, :)

I did just want to add, as ineffective as it might be, my autocrossbow using self with not be taking Precise shot, because frankly I dont care if I hit you :), well unless you are a noble, then there will be groveling so much groveling.

You won't have to worry about hitting me. But if you hit anything I summon, I make no promises about them. ;)

Sidenote= The legend of drizzt series was redone via comic book. Not as good as reading the novels but a good review of the story. The art is ok in my opinion but nothing great. Then again I am a picky comic reader. :P
