Tsakua Chain-Breaker |
Tsakua blinks as the barbarian easily dispatches the guard in front of him and comments, "I'm thinkin' all we're needin' to take this post is pointin' ye in the direction of the enemy."
Marra E. |
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
The growing storm is a constant hindrance to Marra's sight, though as she moves closer to the side of the left tower, the forms of the archers come vaguely into view upon the ramparts. The thunderous booms in the skies were definitely of no help in assessing how bad the situation was, though the yells of both kin and human, barely heard, are a good indicator to the cleric.
Marra takes a five-foot step forward.
At least a distraction.
Setting her spear down upon the wet ground, she points an accusatory finger towards the archers atop the left tower, focusing while chanting softly under her breath.
Marra casts Burning Hands on Archer 1 and Archer 2.
Not sure if damage from spells is to be calculated by the DM? If so, then ignore the following:
Burning Hands - Archer 1: 1d4 ⇒ 1
Burning Hands - Archer 2: 1d4 ⇒ 4
Iraldia the Huntress |
Iraldia watched as the ground split open near the right tower and a long, giant centipede erupted, scrambling up the tower at her call. She bowed her head in a moment of thanks before rushing around the corner to help her friends. She needed a bow though...With a running leap, she vaulted over the left most guard fighting her dog...
Acrobatics vs. CMD+5: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
..and almost ends up landing on her dog in the process. She growled in frustration and bared her teeth at the guard.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
The lightning crashed and she heard nothing but the roar of thunder.
On the right tower, the centipede climbed quickly Climb 40ft I'm assuming the tower isn't that high?. It mounted the top and hissed at the nearest archer before snapping its jaws at him/her.

Gommie |
Gommie took the hit with a yelp but his hearty frame was well muscled. He shrugged off the pain and went for another bite of the tasty human.
Bite: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19 DMG: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
His teeth sunk in again to the woman's flesh and he shook his head, trying to tear her open.

End of Day Combat Turn!
The guard next to the tieflin grinned as he saw the beast take a knee from his wounds though that grin was wiped off his face as he felt a sudden invisible force rip his legs out from under him. He fell back with a hard crunch, the wind knocked from him.
"Take out that spellcaster!" screamed one of the archers on the wall as he was sprayed with acid, though the rain helped numb the pain, it was time for the archer to return his volley.
The fourth guard felt the blade bite his stomach, his eyes glower at the dwarf, "You filthy short freak!" he growled. The sight of the green brute charging gave him more then enough time to raise his shield to block his attack. But his little alteration was short lived as the last thing he saw was the blade from the tiefling pierce his shoulder. The blade bit deep, severing down into his lung collapsing it. The guard gurgled as he collapsed to the ground.
"Damnit kill them!" an archer cried out, "Were losing!
Another crack of lightning, the thunder booming down into the small valley where the outpost stood, rumbling the ground beneath everyone.
The prone guard stood back up making him vulnerable to attack from multiple sides, growling in anger as he turned to the tiefling and lashed out, "Die beast!" Unfortunately his attack was wide.
Guard 2 Attacking Jietin: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (4) + 4 = 8
The guard entangled with the canine screamed as they kicked it off and followed through with another strike. Unfortunately the conditions made it hard to really see the dirty canine. Though she saw the fox like creature attempt to get around her, but she paid her no mind as she felt the teeth of the canine bite into her flesh once again. "Die you blasted dog!"
Guard 1 Attacking Grommie: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
The archers on the wall above Iraldia and Marra see the spell and attempt to evade it unfortunately it was too late as both of them scream in agony as they suddenly were bathed in fire.
Reflex Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 121d20 ⇒ 9
The fifth archer that was taken his aim at Xaeken was suddenly surprised with the sudden appearance of the centipede, screaming in terror as his life was shortly ended between the jaws of the creature, his headless body slumping onto the rampart.
Another volley is set loose.

Archer 4 Attacking Octavian: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 - 4 = 3
An arrow strikes both Marra and Octavian, Marra in the shoulder and Octavian in the leg.

Another flash of lightning illuminated the bloody field.
Octavian Lucarin |
Seeing the downed guard start to rise Octavian takes his spear in both hands and brings it down on the human with all his might. "Die!"
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10
The spear slices down into the guards neck and opens an artery, spraying Jietin with blood. Without slowing Octavian swings the spear sideways into the remaining guard. His blood was pounding now and though his logic maintained his clarity of mind pure hate filled his veins with acid.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16

AoO: 1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (18) + 8 - 1 = 25
Damage: 1d8 + 10 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 10 + 3 = 15
Jietin sees the guard standing from the corner of his eye. No man stands before me. With a roar, he rips the blade free of his last victim and plunges it into the next in one fluid motion.
Will to prevent confusion: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6 The fun begins
Confusion Behavior: 1d100 ⇒ 45
As his next victim falls to the ground, Jietin gives an unhealthy-looking lurch as his arms go slack. He looks at Tsakua hungrily and takes a step forward, then stops and his cheek twitches. Then he starts muttering quietly, spitting out the words as if arguing with himself. There even appears to be two distinct voices. "Kill...shed their blood, let the earth drink their life...can't go on...have to end it...get the archers...don't hurt them...protect them from me...cut open their bodies and feel the heat of their souls leave them!...have to do it..." He raises the sword to his own arm as if to cut it, then stops and gives a confused cry, holding his head in his hands as if it's about to explode.

Luca Shatterstone |
Luca shrugs as the man before her falls to the wild giant. Pity, that.
There was no time for rumination, and the dwarf, running as fast as any human, hurrys for the stairs that she can just make the outline of to her right.
Double Move Hoping there's still someone left to fight when I get there.
Octavian Lucarin |
You can move 4 more squares Luca. If you are actually running which is x4 you can move 16 squares. After your diagonal you still have 4 more squares you could go.
Octavian Lucarin |

Breewyn squints, but the storm is so severe that she cannot make out anything further than five feet away. She starts to shiver some as her makeshift dress is soaked and provides not protection from the wind at this point.

Fire Damage to Archer 3: 1d6 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Before the archers had a chance to react to the slaughter of their brethren below, another pair of screams rose up as a sudden orange light flashed atop of the battlements. The archer was still alive, but he was feeling it as he hunched over in pain.
Another flash of lightning, this time the thunder seemed to be right above you as the very ground shook with the force of the clap of thunder.
The archers took their aim, waivering in the night as another crack of lightning boomed overhead, illuminating the devastation below. In that flash of light, it almost seemed as if the entire ground was covered in thick blood.
"Screw this! screamed one of the arches as they turned tail and began to run down the ramparts at full speed in Luca's direction.
"Get back here you coward!" yelled another. Their will is wavering, somehow they knew this was going to be a miracle if they made it out alive.
The remaining archers took their aim and shot.

DMG to Marra: 1d8 ⇒ 4
One arrow plunges itself into Marra's leg, the wound was moderate but it would hurt quite a bit.
Another boom of thunder shook the air. The lightning was getting so much worse then anyone could remember in their entire lives. The wind picked up with a howl of ferocity, now making the archers useless as a sudden gust nearly topples some of the archers on the walls. Anyone that was below the average size would have to struggle to stay upright in the wind. The rain itself felt like small bee stings as it pelt against your exposed flesh.
The archers gathered themselves and begun to flee the battle.
Anyone below a Medium size, make a strength check of DR 10 to move against the wind. Check the map for wind direction
Tsakua Chain-Breaker |
Tsakua looked at the barbarian as he hunched over. The tiefling's strength was impressive, but now the wildness about him was a bit intimidating, even for the large brawler. Looking back, he saw the gnome that had freed him earlier, hunched and shivering. Motioning for her to follow him, he called above the wind.
"'Tis time fer us to be gettin' out o' the storm!" Giving a cautious glance towards the barbarian again, Tsakua turned and began running for what the largest building in the post.
Perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
As he ran through the storm, Tsakua couldn't help but be cheerful. Maybe we'll be out of here and live free after all.
Jietin |
Jietin growls and shakes his head. Archers. Get the archers. He spits blood on the ground and starts running up the stairs. "Come here you cowards, and die before me!" He frowns up. There's something up there. It too, will die to me today.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Double move.
Octavian Lucarin |
Here is my try for nat 20 at perception. 1d20 ⇒ 20 HAHAHAHAHAHA!
As the last guard falls the group splinters as the fighters chase after the fleeing archers. Octavian leans on his spear, taking a moment of respite in the growing fury of the storm. Soon the rain began to sting against his skin as he saw one last arrow arch in his direction before turning almost completely around and vanishing into the forest impotently. He almost laughed but a sudden burst of wind rocked him a little and small clods of mud began to be picked up and sent flying away.
Suddenly in the brief illumination of lightning on the ground he sees a vast shadow pass over the camp. His eyes snap to the sky in open astonishment as the huge beast glides overhead.
K. Arcane 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
It's hard to ID the creature through the fury of the storm but his instincts tell him that the creature was CREATING the storm. Anything that powerful warranted extreme caution. "INCOMING! EVERYONE INSIDE NOW!!!!" He screams as loud as he can. He sees the smaller members of his group struggling against the storm and bends down to pick up the small gnome without warning and rushes to the largest building.
Tsakua Chain-Breaker |
Hearing the wizard's cry, Tsakua slows his run enough to step to the side, squaring himself with the door in front of him. Getting ready to charge, he takes a quick look behind him to see who needs help.
"Ye heard'em lads, inside!"
taking a five foot step to the side. ready to knock that door in.
edit: Zorgg, which part of that arrow are you at?
Breewyn |
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
The storm was getting extremely bad and she was barely able to see her hand in front of her face as she started to move. The wind picked up more and cause her to start slipping some.
Strength vs. wind: 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (16) - 2 = 14
Astonishingly she manages to fight against the strength of the wind and force herself to not be blown down. She frantically looked around, trying to see the others and if they might have been hurt.
Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22 HA!
She looked up and saw the shadowy form in the lightning flash, her eyes wide.
Knowledge Arcana: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25
She had a good idea of the general shape of what made that shadow. She also suddenly understood why the surprise storm was so overwhelmingly strong. "We desperately need to get indoors or under cover! Something big is coming! Hurry- Ack!" She managed to shout, before Octavian grabbed her forcefully and carried her kicking and flailing out of surprise.
Marra E. |
Perception: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 21
It isn't the bloody wounds, nor the near blinding sheets of rain that poured from the skies that worries Marra anymore - rather, it is what seemed to be a roar behind the storm - a sound that sends shivers up the cleric's spine. She looks down at her injuries, and upwards into the firmament - they had to be treated, and quickly.
Laying her hand upon her leg, Marra concentrates on the wound, channeling positive energy into her body.
Marra casts Cure Light Wounds (Class Feature: Spontaneous Casting).
Cure Light Wounds - Damage Healed: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
The shouts of the wizard was further reason to get out of here and find a space to hide in as quickly as possible.
The leg feeling somewhat better, Marra moves forward past the gates as best as she can.
Move action - 30 feet.
Vinsomner |
It's pretty much enemy clean up time, idiots didn't bring swords! Pretty cocky if you ask me.
Another thunderous boom echoed throughout the lands. This time the roar was clear, apparently and more over deadly. Lightning strikes were happening more and more often. Coming closer and closer to the outpost. The air was almost electrifying as a soft buzz on the inside of your ear, like an annoying gnat that you couldn't swat away. The hair on the nape of your neck stuck up despite being soaked by the pelting rain. Something was happening, something that would not bode well for anyone.
Suddenly a ear shattering boom thundered, shaking the ground, the barracks that Luca was trying to hold the door open for the rest shook from the intensity. A blinding light coupled the blast, white washing the entire area.
The archers on the ramparts dropped to their knees, smoke rising from the charred bodies. The immediate wood around them instantly caught fire, despite the wind and the rain pounding against the outpost.
Suddenly the air begins to electrify once more, the hair on your napes begin to rise again.
This is a special situation, if you succeed this roll move your token the appropriate speed. If you fail, you only move half the distance of your full speed. For those being carried, the carrier must add to 5 to the DR of the check.
Octavian Lucarin |
The hair on his head stands up just before the strike despite being plastered to his head with rain. Before Octavian can move 4 bolts of intensely bright lightning arc down and target the remaining archers with unerring precision. Within the light the humans scream and shake as the flesh is peeled away from their bodies and the very skin is scorched in an instant.
Fort Save 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Octavian was so focused on watching the humans that when the lightning vanishes the image is burned into his eyes and slowly begins to fade to normal sight.
Acrobatics 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 1 = 19
He slides to a stop without losing his balance and screams out for someone to lead him but all he can hear is a faint murmur of sound. When he realizes that he's blind and deaf he focuses on the direction of the wind and steps hopefully in the right direction.
1d5 ⇒ 1
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23
He starts in what he hopes is the right direction and a second later realizes the wind has changed direction. Knowing that he's going the wrong way he stops and turns his head from side to side calling out that he could not see or hear.
Breewyn |
Breewyn sees the blinding flash and hears the loud sonic-boom.
Fort Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Spots appear before her eyes, obscuring her vision, and there was a ringing in her ears. She clutched her head, the ringing causing a severe headache. Gritting her teeth, and kind of remembering where the building ahead of them was, she reached with her free hand to Octavian's chest and smacked about the middle of it lightly, in a kind of a drum-like cadence. She hopes that he gets the message, as she is still being carried like a child.
Luca Shatterstone |
Fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 16
Luca throws the make-shift shield before her as she felt the next blast coming. The roar and the sheer power of whatever was out there caused her to remember the tales of an attack long ago on Dovan-Dur. This attack was different for it was not orcs, goblins, or even greedy humans, but a dragon.
She knew there was no chance of victory, only survival. Panic causes her wiry muscles to cord as she wrenches the door open and screams, "INSIDE NOW!"
Marra E. |
"Please, Lady, please Lady, let me get through this..." Marra mutters to herself as she attempts to go towards the 'shelter' ahead, trying to avoid the corpses of the fallen guards. The dead bodies are what she sees last before a singular BOOM! of unmatched intensity sounds throughout the air.
Fort Roll, DR 15: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
And then there was nothing - all she could hear was the ringing of her own ears, her vision extremely hazy from the dazzling light accompanying the boom. She could smell faintly the scent of charred flesh in the air, mingling with the scent of the rain. Marra rubs her eyes with her hands as she continues desperately...
Acrobatics, DR 10: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 Thank god.
The mud under her feet is difficult to traverse through, but she manages to keep her footing. Left, right, up, all directions are blurred. She simply tries to make her way straight in some northward manner in her confusion.

Octavian Lucarin |
Because i read the posts where even if blinded you could still move too late, this is correction to my prior post.
He slides to a stop without losing his balance and screams out for someone to lead him but all he can hear is a faint murmur of sound. When he realizes that he's blind and deaf he focuses on the direction of the wind and steps hopefully in the right direction. A moment later he can see enough that he start going in the right direction.
Tsakua Chain-Breaker |
Fort: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (18) + 4 = 22
The thunder roared and the earth shook, but Tsakua was able to keep his ground. Feeling the electricity in the air, he began to run forward.
Acr: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7
He could feel the mud giving way under his feet. Slipping and sliding, Tsakua half ran, half fell into the doorway, ramming a shoulder into the doorjamb, and collapsing face first onto the floor.
figured that that would be worth a nat 1. damage from the fall? :P
Iraldia the Huntress |
Iraldia caught in the chaos that erupts at the appearance of some monstrous form in the sky.
"Heel Gommie!" She cried just as the lightning struck.
Fort: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
She ducked down and covered her companions head with her body as she avoided the flash-bang herself. She heard the shouting of her compatriots and began to move toward the shelter.
Acro: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 15
The kitsune kept her footing in the mud and pushed forward, leading her dog along. She saw those who flailed about blindly and reached for them, "Come along! I've got you! Just grab my hand" She attempted to make a daisy chain of her blinded kin and lead them to shelter.
Gommie |
"Heel!
Gommie turned back to his mistress and away from the fallen guards. He had but a moment to lick at his blood drenched maw before the smack and flash of lightning light up the tower near by.
Fort: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (19) + 5 = 24
In that flash, his mistress' body covered his head to protect him from the bang. As she recovered, he shook his head and whined softly up at her. He stuck to her heels as she pushed through the wind and rain to reach the others.

Acrobatics: 1d20 + 3 - 3 - 1 ⇒ (15) + 3 - 3 - 1 = 14
Jietin feels the rage start fading away. No. One more! Always one more... With a lurch Jietin starts panting like he just ran a mile, holding onto the wall for support as he sweats despite the chill in the air. He looks at the others running for cover and Marra flailing blindly. With a tired grunt he jumps over the edge of the stairs, rolling as he hits the ground, then runs to her side and grabs her shoulders. "I have you, don't worry."
Ending rage, acrobatics to avoid the falling damage, double move.

Non-Lethal DMG to Tsakua: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8 You hit your head pretty hard!
Fate: 1d100 ⇒ 20
This time, everyone could hear the rumbling roar aided by the crack of thunder. Another flash illuminated the entire outpost as a large form flashed overhead, closer. It's form covered in darkness, elongated, elegant yet oh so deadly. It's massive wings snapped out as it lifted itself, vanishing in the darkness. Its presence left an electrifying surge in the air, the buzzing you ear was back. If it was the same as before, then what was coming was not... fortunate.
A thunderous boom echoes again, blinding and deafening as before! This time it wasn't so unexpected.
You may attempt another reflex of DR 15 save to half the damage
Electric DMG: 4d6 ⇒ (3, 3, 3, 1) = 10
The air was left signed and filled with static. The buzzing of the electricity was in your ear again as a bellow of a roar from the beast above was ever closer. Was this the end? Was this where your valiant efforts to free yourselves come to a grinding halt? The beast was on another dive towards the camp, getting closer and closer with amazing speed. Little sparks of electricity sparked along the form of the beast harmlessly.
It was time to get into the safety of the building. But the mud made it incredibly difficulty to do so, along with the painful rain and the staggering wings howling around you. It almost felt as if the entire outpost was going to be lifted from its very foundations.
Fate was not being kind this day...

She remembered the tales, the carnage they spoke of when a dragon became the only foe to have breached the Shatterstones' defenses, at least until the humans came to wipe out the clan.
She stood frozen for a split-second too long, and even as she moved to scramble out of the way, lightning arced her way, and the dwarf screamed in pain as her nerves were lit on fire.
She collapsed into the mud, twitching every now and again as an errant spark jumped up or down her body.

Hearing the second thunderstrike causes Octavian to flinch and he turns to look outside. Tsakua was picking himself off the round in the door way shaking his head. "Stay here." he says to everyone as he sets the gnome down on the round.

As he leaves the safety of the barracks he takes his spear in a two handed grip and raises it overhead before slamming it into the ground with all of his might. The spear butt lodges into the mud and points the metal spearhead up to the sky. Lightning rod created he slogs through the mud to Luca and pick ups the sword she dropped. He stabs the sword into the ground point first and presses down until the sword was stable. Finally he goes over to where Jietin had fallen and takes the spear from the barbarian's hands with "I NEED THIS!" yelled as loudly as he could.
He takes the spear to the middle of the fort and lodges it into the mud spear point up. Safety net established he runs over and grabs Jietin under the arms to start pulling him to his feet. "Move!"

His head was ringing, but maybe keeping his head to the ground had kept that last thunderclap from surprising him, although right now he couldn't tell whether that loud noise had been his head hitting the ground or the weather. Pulling himself further inside, he rolled onto his back and, propping himself up on one arm and looked towards the open door.
"How bad is it?"

Breewyn finally felt her vision clear as she and Octavian made it to the barracks and inside. He set her down quickly and then bolted back out the door again. She cautiously stepped to the doorway, looking out into the terrible storm.
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Suddenly instincts tell her something is just about to happen and she quickly ducks behind the doorway.
Door is still open so still have to save versus the deafness if not the blindness.
Fort Save: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
She manages to endure the loud crash of thunder. Once again she peers around the doorway to the others out in the storm, seeing them scrambling in the mud, or lying down completely. She bit her lip, shouting "Hurry and get cover!! Please!! Tears began to sting her eyes, as she felt even more helpless than before, remembering Uncle Urgle and how he fell. She wiped her eyes, looking around the barracks for anything that might help them out there.
