Scrapeknee |
Sorry folks. I will be visiting family for the next few days. I HOPE to be able to post, but their internet is less than reliable. So if I take too long to do so and you need to 'bot me'. Feel free.
Roku Sai |
In that case anyone got info on it. Cause right now I would say Roku would want to capture the thing, place it in a box, and leave it with a note that says spying will not be tolerated.
He would of course stake out said box from a distance with party members in different locations. Or if we are strapped for time, sense those we want to help are currently strung up and likely starving to death. Make it clear anymore wayward skeletons will be treated as hostile.

Glitterdust
School conjuration (creation); Level bard 2, magus 2, sorcerer/wizard 2, summoner 2, witch 2
CASTING
Casting Time 1 standard action
Components V, S, M (ground mica)
EFFECT
Range medium (100 ft. + 10 ft./level) - This needs line of sight. No where do I see that it does not need line of sight.
Area creatures and objects within 10-ft.-radius spread
Duration 1 round/level
Saving Throw Will negates (blinding only); Spell Resistance no
DESCRIPTION
A cloud of golden particles covers everyone and everything in the area, causing creatures to become blinded and visibly outlining invisible things for the duration of the spell. All within the area are covered by the dust, which cannot be removed and continues to sparkle until it fades. Each round at the end of their turn blinded creatures may attempt new saving throws to end the blindness effect.
Any creature covered by the dust takes a -40 penalty on Stealth checks.
There is nowhere visible to place the 10-foot radius where you will hit your target. So you cannot hit the target sorry.
Roku Sai |
I brought up the spread effect in case he was around a corner from where it was cast. I learned that the hard way via a fireball once.
When I consider line of sight, it means just that. You have to see it. Line of effect is different in that you need a clear path to the target/area. Saying I have no line of sight means I can not see the subject, not that I can not target them with certain spells or effects. Invisibility protects you from magic missile, sense you need LoS but not area spells. Saying I have no line of effect means I can not target them at all.
I know its a bit of a technicality but it does make a difference when considering your options. I sure would not waste my glitterdust if I knew there was no point. xP
Xzevrra |
Sorry, replied. This is a toughie right here, this situation. Me likey.
So what's the sleight of hand to steal Roku's neck guard? :P
Xzevrra |
This entire encounter, all I hear in the back of my head is a friend's voice. It sounds something like this.
"She's a vampire? Vampires are powerful, hehehe. I convince her to bite me."
There's probably a grunt or two in there as well.
Roku Sai |
Nah the weaknesses are a bit much at the moment. Anyways said vampire family may kill us or the rest of the city should they find out. Not to mention new vampires fall under the control of their creator until death or freed.
Not a smart move in a number of ways. ^.^
Xzevrra |
Oh no, I totally agree with you. But he tends to ignore the negative aspects of every template, class, ability, story arc, etc.
Once hunting a weretiger, his fighter decided to leave his armor in the Inn to help him contract lycanthropy. He was upset when the thing shredded him with claws, and no bite happened.
Shanosuke |
I do want to point something out that was in my player's guide that you all did not receive but one of the elements to this campaign is your you to join, and if the opportunity arises, lead a faction.
Now, the Vampires are indeed a faction, however, you are not required to join them. So far you all are more open to them than I had initially anticipated but if you decide you do not want to associate with them that is fine. There are countless other factions throughout Borallas.
The thing I am trying to say is, no matter where you go, there will be someone trying to solicit your aid and they won't always be nice about it. just about anywhere you go I will have some group close by who needs help.
This campaign is in a stage of strife and turmoil, a lot is going on and a lot of NPCs are being very active as well as their groups. Now, you do have the option of ignoring them and carrying on with your agenda's but be careful with that choice.
This campaign is hard for the party to act independantly without aid from a faction. It is possible to form your own faction but that will take time and some work. Not impossible and I have had groups who have managed. But, in the early stages, you have an unseen enemy who is hunting you and will attack you every chance they get. They get harder and harder with each attack. Everyday you spend doing stuff, they grow stronger.
Make sure you manage your time well and be quick and effcient with your decisions. This is one of my harder campaigns but people still like it for the challenge. You just got to know what your doing.
This is details simply for your information. It is mostly in response to your hunt for a hiding place so you can manage your time well. I'm not telling you to join the vampires, just don't hop around too much or it will cost you dearly. Again, the more time you spend on your own without aid, the more likely a TPK will happen.
You guys are doing great....a little slow on the posting though, I swear sometimes it feels like Roku is the only one playing. I usually wait until most of you have responded before I post.
Anyways, that was just an important piece of information you needed. If you leave the vampires, be sure of where you are going next and what you intend to do. Every action you take has a positive or negative reaction.
Scrapeknee |
I've got to admit , my terrible rolls on diplomacy have sort of made me gun shy on posting. In theory, Scrapeknee is supposed to be somewhat charismatic and even likable, but the dice keep trying to push otherwise

Friendly Informational Post
I'll be attending Gencon next week from the 14th to the 18th. During this time I'll pretty much be not checking the forums with any sort of regularity. I apologize in advance for this! Please feel free to bot me as necessary during that time to allow the game to continue.
Xzevrra |
Back from an exhausting con! I need to learn to sleep better while gone. Or just not stay out til 4am and wake up at 7 for early events.
Xzevrra |
Still awaiting a response from the ones we rescued. Looks over to the prisoners, waiting for a response.
Also ;P
Shanosuke |
I made a post ooc in the gameplay thread. Haven't gotten a reply yet so have been waiting. Can't speak for anyone else.
There is nothing I can reply to your OOC. If you wanted that information you should have asked in character to Henry. He gave you the answer he felt most appropriate to your question.
As for the others, I think they are content letting you be the leader and doing all the talking for them. They haven't complained yet.

I fall under super busy.
Nearly 2 months ago I lost a person in my office, dropping it down to 2 people (it's expected to have 4 in the office, and I had been making it work with 3). I finally have one of the two replacements I'm allowed to have hired and in training, and while I thought I'd have 2-3 months to complete core competencies, I instead was given a deadline until the end of September. So to train her and keep up other deadlines (which are getting pushed back), I'm working fairly long days, 12 days every two weeks. And still usually coming in on my two days off.
I do check in to see what's going on, and admittedly I could have been a little more open about what's going on (honestly, I didn't want to bore anyone with my own personal crises since everyone has their own).
As far as the IC portion, I have kind of been letting Roku keep the lead on a lot of things. He's doing a good job of driving the story right now.
I would like to apologize on my sparing posting though. When I get off later this afternoon, I'll get an IC post off related to what's going on.
Scrapeknee |
And I'm almost done here.
Sorry, some ugly #$## hitting me in RL and that probably IS affecting my mood, but between a string of terrible dice rolls, and zero respect from a fellow escapee, I'm not sure WHY Scrapeknee would hang around.
And apologies if I seem over sensitive
Roku Sai |
Whoa Roku was just taken back by Scrapeknee throwing, what he see's anyways, as a monkey wrench into his carefully laid set up. He does not want to spook the rabbits so to speak. So he is using word play to keep himself in a good position and not get any potential backlash.
What really got Roku's goat was Scrapeknee admitting he was a known lunatic/holy man. It screams cult which brings a lot of negative light in his mind.
I can understand the dice being bad, it's the reason I pump mods so much myself, so can't really say much there. Give it time sense it will change sooner or later. As to respect, Scrapeknee is loony. That was my impression of his character, correct me if that was not your intent. That being said Roku dismisses him as to not get into a pointless argument which will only do harm. From a players stand point I don't really know how to react to that concerning a PC. It's not so much a lack of respect as the only noninsulting way to deal with Scrapeknee I know. Ignore and accept it so long as it does not interfere with anything. Let me know if you have any other ways in mind.
P.S. Everyone has bad days, no worries. Best to be clear about stuff. Hopefully things get better for you in RL and the dice lightens up.
Scrapeknee |
My own thoughts...Well, while many who barely know him dismiss him as a lunatic, Scrapeknee's power and faith is quite real, and clearly divine in origin. So he is a holy man, not just self proclaiming it. The escapees owe each other their lives, and that alone, I would think, would grant a measure of mutual respect and a realization that each is formidable (Despite what the dice rolls sometimes ;))
Roku Sai |
That doesn't mean he won't illicit a face palm for doing or saying certain things. xP
But really I am sure Roku comes off as a slimy con man at times, or a lot lately. Respect and appreciation do not go hand in hand so best not get them confused. If he disrespected Scrapeknee he would have told him to leave the room or something. To quote a line from a movie, "The content of what you just said has made me hate you, but it was very brave and honest and I respect that, so now you have my respect peppered with hate, hateful respect."
I am sure I am misquoting but you get the idea I hope. You can hold it against me when you save Roku's butt as you will sooner or later. :D

NOTE: This message has been copied and pasted to all groups.
Sorry I have had issues with posting over last night and today.
I suffered an Asthma attack the other day and I have been worn out since.
I haven't been up for posting all day. I hope to be better and back to normal posting tomorrow. Thank you for your understanding.
Sincerely Shanosuke.
Shanosuke |
I have been wanting to talk about this campaign for a while now.
I feel like Roku is the only person playing at this moment.
I have the capacity to run a consistent game but only if I have full player involvement.
I am getting the impression that something is keeping the party from posting and I would like to know what.
If we can talk about it here, then maybe we can get this game going in full. I am more than willing to work with your needs but I NEED you guys to post more.
So, be honest and precise, why the lack of involvement from the rest of you? Is it the setting, party cohesion, RL, I am more than reasonable and will try and adjust things within reason to help us overcome this problem.
If anyone has any ideas please speak up.
Xzevrra |
Just an FYI, I'll post a response this afternoon. Don't want you thinking I'm ignoring you concerns.
Baron Tars Ruukin |
My work has been moving around my shifts a lot lately and I have like 3 weddings this month that I'm in are eating a lot of my response time. I'm sorry for not posting. I didn't have a real feel for this version of Baron but I got his persona now and will be posting better. Sorry Shano, my end has been the problem not yours but it should be stabilizing.
Xzevrra |
All right, having time at the moment to type.
Primarily, it has been a time concern for my own posting as well. I've been working 12 day weeks, with two off (and usually going in on those). Throw in two trips for work with a third at the end of this month and my vacation, it took a lot of hours out I couldn't easily post. I can usually find some time to post while at work, but that fluctuates.
But that's only a part of the problem. Often when I sit down to post I have trouble deciding what to have Xzevrra do. I've been thinking on it, and I think I've figured it out. I really like the concept behind the game and see there is some direction to it, plus it feels as though you have a fleshed out city for us to explore. For various reasons I just don't feel the investment in the game itself. I think for this reason I should bow out of this game.
I don't know how you'd prefer that I do it, Shanosuke. If you'd like me to play it out for a bit to remove from the story, just let me know.
Scrapeknee |
RL is a mess for me right now. I have family and friends facing just about every type of problem there is, and while there is little I can do for them, it's been stressing me out wishing I could.
I've grumbled about the die rolls in the past: missing every diplomacy roll on what's supposed to be a charismatic even likable character really discourages. While I like the concepts, I'm just having a hard time getting invested either.
Shanosuke |
Hmmm. I had a feeling things were probably rough in RL. It is a tough call but I believe I will be ending this at this point. Already we have lost Xzevrra and it looks as though we have lost Scrapeknee too.
This is a hard campaign to recruit for. The campaign works better for live games than it does PBP anyways.
I am sorry to do this guys but I think it is for the best. It was nice of you all to go along with it.
@Baron - Sorry you had to see this campaign fall apart a second time. It really just doesn't seem to work for PBP. I hope to see you on the boards again sometime.
Well everyone, good luck with the RL, I mean it. Take care everyone.
