A group of young heroes are precipitated into an adventure that reveals their true heritage and their destiny.

Houserules:
Casting: When casting a spell defensivly if you fail you do not automaticly lose the spell, rather you provoke an attack as you normally would for not casting defensive. If you are hit you must make a concentration check dc 10+damage taken if you fail this check you lose the spell.
Fumble: If you roll a natural 1 on your attack roll, make a dexterity check. If you get less than 10 you fumble. If you get more than 10 your attack simply misses very badly. If you roll a natural 20 you get your attack back, roll another attack roll!
Super crits: If you roll a natural 20 on a critical and when you roll another 20 to confirm this is a super crit, increase your weapons modifier by 1. (ex: X2 becomes X3)
Rolls:
Many rolls will be handled by the GM in secret.(don't worry, I don't fudge.)
Any result that can influence the character behavior will not be rolled open.
Rolls that will be handled by the GM:
Perception
Sense Motive.
if you make the check I will send you a pm or make a post and put it in a spoiler depending on the situation.
Sometimes I will roll Initiative others I will ask you to roll depending on the situation. In some situation (rarely) I will bypass init entirely and have you all go first and enemies second or have enemies go first and you all go after.
Combat rules:
I'm a fair GM, I dont roll combat in secret, I don't change results, I don't ignore bad calls from the characters.
Sometimes, character dies, but I'm not a player killer, if I think that an encounter will be easy handled, when it should be more challenging, I will make it a more challenging, if the party it's not prepared to face something, I will drop hints, if they insist... well killing one or two players never made me lack sleep...
Actions:
I'm a GM that do not punish the character for trying something new or cool, or even strange. Visual appealing actions are encouraged, the dc will of course depend on what are you trying, but you can try! If what you want to do is wicked cool, I can even bend the game mechanics to allow it! The most importat part is: You are villains. Villains are smart, resourceful and have style! Have you ever seen a memorable villain that could just swing his sword and do nothing more?
Posting Rate
If it could be done, I expect 1/day posting, if you can post more, it will really good.
During weekend, this rule does not apply. If you are able to post, great! But dont stress over this, everyone need some time to rest (In my case, I need time to play and DM :D on my tabletop games).
Level up
Aside from character creation, when you level up, if you want something not from core rulebook, you'll need to search it inside the game. basicly what you need to do is just show in game your character is searching for that knowledge. This rule is not meant to prohibit anything, I just don't like something like this: "Character always as a full caster, never picked up a sword in his entire life, and then he gain a new level and says: Master, I'll level up as a fighter now..."
The wounds are severe but not fatal. The man is in a coma because of poison that has muddled his wits. The yellow coloration around the wounds and the smell would indicate dream root. A type of drug that in small doses can induce sleep and pleasant dreams but in large doses cause hallucinations and lost of wits. (inflicts wisdom damage in large doses)
"Allow me." Cynthia said, stepping forward and placing her hands on the unconscious man. She started muttering under her breath a moment later, and a healing light began to emanate from her hands and wash over his body, working to restore his wits and bring him at least closer to being healthy.
Lesser Restoration, Curing Ability Damage:1d4 ⇒ 1
Bah. XD Well, I can use Mythic power to repeat if need be.
Janus, having identified the drug, takes a moment to treat it, cleansing the wounds and removing any residue.
"It seemed to help. Can you do it again, Cynthia?"
Another take 10 for heal=>treat poison. Obviously his natural healing has not manage to take care of the attribute damage, so unless someone keeps drugging him, I'd expect him to make save against additional damage.
Hmm... wait, drat. DX I forgot, Lesser Restoration has a casting time of 3 rounds, so I can't use Inspired Spell on it. (Per the FAQ, Wild Arcana and Inspired Spell can only be used on spells with a casting time of 1 Standard Action or less.) I can prepare more uses of it tomorrow, but I don't think there's anything else I can do now. Unless someone else has a use or two available...?
Cynthia knelt down close to the man, trying her best to be friendly. She was usually too busy analyzing things, so she could be off-putting at best, but... hey. "Don't worry, everything's going to be fine." she told him. "Can you understand me?"
...Take to 10 + 8 (18) on Diplomacy to help him relax? Or I can roll, if you figure I can't Take 10 here. XD Aid Another's might help, too.
Maybe we can fast forward it a bit by deciding you prepared multiple instances of lesser restoration today? Considering he's a Cleric and was comatose we can probably be aware a single casting won't fix him...
You manage to clear his mind enough to talk to the wounded priest.
He blinks slowly. His thoughts coming in order.
"I...I seem to be better now. My mind is still foggy but I can think much more clearly now. I thank you. It seems I am in your debt."
"No debt, as far as I'm concerned", Janus states, smiling at Flare. "But if you could help us out with some answers, it would be appreciated...we know little about this whole mess that happened here, yet...if you could tell us your perspective from before you were forced into hiding, that'd be great.", Janus states, offering a glass of water to the man.
"Flare is still weakened." Riven reminded Janus with a glare as he pass on a favor from a cleric. "If you tend to her when you are able we'd be very appreciative."
Cynthia glanced down at her own hands as Riven spoke. She'd... definitely have to brush up on her own healing talents, just in case. "Helping others is the right thing to do." the shaman said calmly, giving a small smile to the priest. "Do you hurt anywhere?" she was quite willing to provide additional healing if need be, although her powers were, admittedly limited.
"Not yet, though. There was a reason you left the temple in the first place and hid in the slums. And you have been poisoned...do you remember? If we return now, you may be targetted all over again...so you should at least let us know what you remember so we can judge if it's safe to return. As you said, your will is still not recovered, so forgive me if my faith in your judgement is not spotless"
"I can restore you again tomorrow if need be." Cynthia added thoughtfully. She saw no reason to rush this particular matter, and Janus had made a fair point indeed.
Truthfully I am not sure how I want to proceed at this point. This whole journey to korvosa was meant to keep you busy and get you to gain some xp by fighting the red manthis and some vampires until you were high enough level to do the next part of the story I had in mind which you would need to be around level 8-9 to do. Even then the end of the campaign was an epic face-off versus a CR 23 Monster and it would be years before we get there. In hindsight I shouldn't have started this at level one at all should have started at level 5. Well for the time being I will stay away from homebrew and stick to pre-made games that I made minor changes too.
It has been fun and I want to thank you all for sticking with it this long.
Sorry to hear it, but alas, if you feel that way, it may be for the best. And with your mentioned troubles in keeping up/real life, as per discussion, I must say I am not completely surprised. I run exclusively homebrew with my RL groups, and I know that it can be a lot of work.
I also appreciate that you let us know you are closing the game, instead of simply disappearing!
Thank you for running it. I wasn't there from the start, but I enjoyed my chance to play with you others.
*tips Fedora*
I guess that means I'll have to find a new home for Janus. Looking forward to seeing you all again, in another game.
Yeah, I kind of expected this. XD Can't say I'm surprised, but it was fun while it lasted.
If you ever decide to dip into homebrew again, may I suggest getting Realm Works? It's from the same company that develops Hero Lab, and it's designed as a system-neutral campaign management tool that includes a flowchart system for designing events and encounters and showing how players can progress from one event to the next (and what to do if they pick different options). It's VERY helpful once you learn to use it and figure out a style that works for you.
I've been having quite a bit of writers block with riven as well so I know what thats like, sorry I couldn't get some better posts out but Good luck on future games.
