Houserules:

Houserules:

Casting: When casting a spell defensivly if you fail you do not automaticly lose the spell, rather you provoke an attack as you normally would for not casting defensive. If you are hit you must make a concentration check dc 10+damage taken if you fail this check you lose the spell.

Fumble: If you roll a natural 1 on your attack roll, make a dexterity check. If you get less than 10 you fumble. If you get more than 10 your attack simply misses very badly. If you roll a natural 20 you get your attack back, roll another attack roll!

Super crits: If you roll a natural 20 on a critical and when you roll another 20 to confirm this is a super crit, increase your weapons modifier by 1. (ex: X2 becomes X3)

Rolls:
Many rolls will be handled by the GM in secret.(don't worry, I don't fudge.)
Any result that can influence the character behavior will not be rolled open.
Rolls that will be handled by the GM:
Perception
Sense Motive.

if you make the check I will send you a pm or make a post and put it in a spoiler depending on the situation.

Sometimes I will roll Initiative others I will ask you to roll depending on the situation. In some situation (rarely) I will bypass init entirely and have you all go first and enemies second or have enemies go first and you all go after.

Combat rules:
I'm a fair GM, I dont roll combat in secret, I don't change results, I don't ignore bad calls from the characters.
Sometimes, character dies, but I'm not a player killer, if I think that an encounter will be easy handled, when it should be more challenging, I will make it a more challenging, if the party it's not prepared to face something, I will drop hints, if they insist... well killing one or two players never made me lack sleep...

Actions:
I'm a GM that do not punish the character for trying something new or cool, or even strange. Visual appealing actions are encouraged, the dc will of course depend on what are you trying, but you can try! If what you want to do is wicked cool, I can even bend the game mechanics to allow it! The most importat part is: You are villains. Villains are smart, resourceful and have style! Have you ever seen a memorable villain that could just swing his sword and do nothing more?

Posting Rate
If it could be done, I expect 1/day posting, if you can post more, it will really good.
During weekend, this rule does not apply. If you are able to post, great! But dont stress over this, everyone need some time to rest (In my case, I need time to play and DM :D on my tabletop games).

Level up
Aside from character creation, when you level up, if you want something not from core rulebook, you'll need to search it inside the game. basicly what you need to do is just show in game your character is searching for that knowledge. This rule is not meant to prohibit anything, I just don't like something like this: "Character always as a full caster, never picked up a sword in his entire life, and then he gain a new level and says: Master, I'll level up as a fighter now..."

Oh true, I forgot a 5 foot step into account. Still, I think she probably takes splash even if I do miss, for what its worth.

She takes splash damage yes.

If you're waiting on me, just swap the attack to Malcolm. That's probably still a miss. :)

Malcolm is now alone.

"No I wont let it end like this." he puts his hand in his pocked and when he removes it he has a a ring of white gold on his finger.

"Lets see if this thing can really grant any wish...Ring of power. Grant my wish. I wish to control the minds and bodies of all those before me until I deem to free them."

As Malcolm finishes his words the room becomes enveloped in glowing white light.

The next moment all of you and Malcolm are floating in an empty void of pure white that goes on forever.

A immense woman dressed in white with long black hair and piercing blue eyes materialises in front of the group.

"THAT IS HOW YOU WOULD USE MY GIFT MALCOLM! NEVER BEFORE HAVE I BEEN SO DISAPPOINTED. I FIND YOU UNWORTHY OF YOUR GIFT." as she says that the mark on Malcolm's arm vanishes and the ring floats of his finger.

"What?" says Malcolm confused then he vanishes.

The mark that came of Malcolm's is floating as a white pulsing light but it's fading.

"THIS ENERGY NEEDS A NEW CARRIER. I GRANT YOU THIS GIFT YOUNG MAN MAY YOU USE IT BETTER THAN MALCOLM DID." she says and the mark floats over to Janus and attaches itself to him.

"MY CHILDREN YOU MUST HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS BUT OUR TIME IS LIMITED. I AM ELPIS. ONCE A MORTAL I BECAME A GOD IN A TIME OF GREAT NEED AND I DIED TO SAVE MY PEOPLE BUT THE DANGER I DIED TO DEFEAT WAS ONLY PUSHED BACK NOT VANQUISHED FOREVER. HE IS RETURNING AND UNLESS HE IS STOPPED HE WILL CONSUME THE ENTIRE WORLD. I CAN ANSWER SOME OF YOUR QUESTIONS BUT YOU WILL NEED TO SPEAK TO LUCIOUS TO GET ALL THE ANSWERS. HE WILL SEEK YOU OUT SOON." she says.

Cynthia rocked back slightly. She... hadn't seen that one coming, and her mind promptly ran through the possibilities. The most important questions were... "I wouldn't put it past your enemies to interfere. What can you tell us about how to identify Lucious and make sure he's not an impostor?" she asked. "And can you tell us anything else about the marks and how to properly make use of them?"

"THE RING YOU FOUND IS ONE OF TWO. LUCIOUS HAS THE OTHER. WHEN I WAS A GODDESSES I HAD TWELVE CHOSEN WHO WERE MY CHAMPIONS AGAINST DARKNESS. AT THE TIME OF MY DEATH I GAVE THEM ALL A GIFT. A PORTION OF MY CONSCIOUSNESS AND POWER TO AID THEM IN TIMES OF TROUBLES. THIS GIFT WAS PASSED ON TO THEIR CHILDREN AND THEIR CHILDREN'S CHILDREN TO EVENTUALLY MAKE IT TO YOU. THE POWER OF YOUR MARKS IS VERY WEAK COMPARE TO THE ORIGINALS BUT I CAN AWAKEN THEM A LITTLE. PERFORM GOOD DEEDS AND FIGHT DARKNESS AND THEY WILL GROW IN POWER BUT IF YOU USE THEM FOR A MIRACLE OR DIE THE MARKS POWER WILL BE USED UP IN THE MIRACLE OR IN RESURRECTING YOU. YOUR MARKS ARE CHANGED NOW. THEY WILL NO LONGER GLOW WHEN DANGER IS NEAR AS YOU WILL ALWAYS BE IN DANGER FROM HERE ON AND YOU CAN MAKE THEM FADE IF YOU WISH BUT THEY WILL GRANT YOU GREATER STRENGTH THAN BEFORE."

"I AM SORRY THAT THIS DUTY BEFALLS YOU BUT THE TRUTH IS THAT THIS BATTLE NEVER REALLY STOPPED. WHEN I FOUGHT ATROPUS THE ONLY THING I COULD DO WAS OPEN A PORTAL TO ANOTHER WORLD WERE MY PEOPLE ESCAPED. THAT PORTAL REMAINS OPEN AND HIS FORCES HAVE BEEN TRYING TO CROSS IT ALL THIS TIME BUT THE DESCENDANTS OF MY FOLLOWERS HAVE BEEN GUARDING GENERATION AFTER GENERATION. HOWEVER NOW ATROPUS IS COMING TO GOLARION. INSTEAD OF TAKING THE PORTAL HE FLEW HERE ACROSS THE DARKNESS OF SPACE AND WILL ARRIVE SOON. THE ARDENT GUARD MUST BE WARNED THEY STILL GUARD THE PORTAL NOT KNOWING THE GREATER DANGER THAT IS COMING. THIS WORLD MUST PREPARE TO FACE IT'S DOOM

"I don't suppose this Lucious is able to equip us to fight the hordes of darkness or what not is he? The adventuring hasn't quite worked out for us, so far." she says, looking towards Riven with a small frown. Riven was certainly surprised by the sudden teleport but became annoyed as the woman spoke telling them they had to become her minions. "Can you do nothing to prepare us? "ONCE YOU REACH THE ARDENT GUARD ALL YOU NEED WILL BE PROVIDED. HEED LUCIOUS HE WILL ADVISE YOU IN THE DAYS TO COME." says the goddess her voice fading.

"Information. And his blood isn't worth staining our hands with." Cynthia observed. She wasn't feeling especially warm towards Malcolm - rather the opposite, really - but she hadn't been raised to kill people simply because she disliked them... or because they'd made a lot of mistakes. Flare just stays quiet, her rhetoric ended, and waits for the mage that had disappeared moments before to show herself once again.

Tormod knocks Malcolm out cold. The captain it seems has bled to death and the mage has fled.

"That...certainly was unexpected!"
Janus seems deeply in thought, glaring at the mark that attached itself to its arm.
"I had not meant to intrude on your privacy before, but it would seem I got myself caught up in your business now, too. By the sound of it, you are no less surprised than I am, though."

Returning to his more methodical nature, Janus quickly checks the Captain's pulse before declaring him dead, then quickly scans the room, walking over to Malcolm:"If you mean to question him, we best make haste. They meant to leave because they were losing this battle. If we plan on taking the same way out that we used to get in, we'd best not wait too long. I'd suggest we quickly screen for valuables, then form up and move on...we can talk about what happened here once we've made it to safety.", looking at Riven, expecting her to disagree with his tone, he smiles and adds:"Merely a suggestion, of course, but I hope you don't find it unreasonable!"

Flare will take the chain shirt if no one else wants it; it's strictly an upgrade over her plain parade armor. (+1 AC) The wand can go to Riven again (as she can use it). The ring of protection should go to the lowest AC frontliner, I think. Which is also Flare (with the chain shirt) unless Tormod is raging. The Cloak of Resistance should probably go to one of the 'clothies'. Until I see Victor's rebuild I can't really recommend who. That is probably best on Riven or Cynthia. +1 Rapier is a Rapier, and thus goes to the person who wields Rapiers (Janus).

The Cure Moderate potion should probably go to Cynthia as she's often the person who isn't doing something with her turn in combat :p, the scrolls and other consumables should just go to whomever wants them. The Silver Raven is really cool, the others are just sort of 'filler'.

Flare and Tormod can carry what isn't claimed.

Victor frowns. As someone who firmly believes in tangible things, he was slightly shaken by the sudden appearance of the goddess, and slightly troubled at the same time. It was certainly a generous gift, one that he intended to take full advantage of, but for such a scientific mind, the recent events left him slightly less confident than before.

Flare waits for people to inform her of what is magical, then sets to work divvying up the loot between everyone. She quickly changes armors, and then puts on the ring. "Ugh, I smell like a pirate. Maybe we'll find out more about Janus's princess if we check with the Cyphers again. Assuming you're alright with us checking that." she says, looking to Janus.

Who's going to carry the miracle ring?

Cynthia looked at Flare for a moment, then conjured some water into a nearby bucket in case anybody wanted to wash. "True, given recent events, it seems like his needs are... something it would be wise to take care of." she observed, eyeing Janus.

"Well... it's not his paycheck I'm worried about. His goal is ultimately to find our friend. The same friend that got us out of Hermea when there were assassins searching for us... as such, I truly believe we owe her a debt, if we can do anything for her." Flare says in response, with a small smile, trying to at least make the decision palatable to all involved.

"I think I would appreciate that. Also, Riven, don't forget that whoever took her may well have done so to get to you...us, maybe, now. If that pirate was not the only one interested in these marks, it's reasonable to try and find out who is behind it, rather than ignore it. Even if it was a trap, moving on and forgetting about your companion would not solve the principal problem."

Trying to approach the problem from a side that he feels Riven could feel is agreeable, he then turns to Cynthia and Flare:"I appreciate it. Very much so. I have no reason to be against checking in with the Cyphers. Regardless of the reason for her disappearance, and wether it's connected with this", Janus eyes his mark suspiciously, "or for some completely different plan, the danger to her life probably is very real. And I took it upon myself to return her unharmed. The paycheck was reasonable motivation when it was just about a runaway girl. Now it's about her life. I'm methodical, but not cold. Luscious has an 'S'. I'd done the same thing the first time I read it. :) Lucious is normally spelled Lucius, but I guess this guy is a little more exotic. Maybe the O is even pronounced. :)

Who was 'You are not us.' to?

Flare seemed interested in the arrival of the strange foppish man, but when conversation turned to their mentors, Flare's interest turned into practiced disinterest, as she moved from the conversation to the nearest side of the boat, without a word.

I think the "You are not us" was towards me in reference to me being "part" of the markbearers. Riven hates me. ^_^ I hope over time that turns into friendly rivalry or a passionate affair, but right now, she's kind of hostile to me.

Startled, Janus raises his Rapier towards the figure who suddenly appeared on their ship, then lowers it again(but keeping it in hand), seeing the others remain somewhat calm, he walks after Flare, and asks:"You know this guy?"

Tormod stayed quiet during the discussion of their future plans. He didn't have much of mind for strategy but he tended to appreciate Cynthia's sense of caution (partly because he didn't have one).

Upon the appearance of this new character Tormod steps forward sword drawn, placing himself between the newcomer and his companions. He stands quietly, ready to pounce at a moments notice, awaiting a response to Cynthia's question.

Cynthia rocked back slightly at his news, but carefully kept her expression neutral. She didn't quite trust him yet, and delivering emotion-laden news was a good tactic for getting people to stop thinking (and start overlooking discrepancies in your story). She'd been taught to be analytical, and whether any of their mentors were dead or alive, they'd want her to do as she'd been taught. With that, she mulled over his words and responses.

Sense Motive (How genuine does he seem?): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (15) + 5 = 20

Male Human Follower Alias

Victor glances at the man, who is standing a good distance away, and promptly decides to have a look see at what precisely this man was carrying. Maybe it would provide an insight into why he was there.

Sleight of Hand check (take an item) DC 25: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (17) + 11 = 28

sleight of hand:

Take Something Unnoticed

If you try to take something from a creature, you must make a DC 20 Sleight of Hand check. The opponent makes a Perception check to detect the attempt, opposed by the Sleight of Hand check result you achieved when you tried to grab the item. An opponent who succeeds on this check notices the attempt, regardless of whether you got the item. You cannot use this skill to take an object from another creature during combat if the creature is aware of your presence.

He certainly seems like the real deal.

He easily avoids Victor's attempt at stealing from him.

"Lad I'm a two-thousand year old demi-god please show a little respect." he says.
