Yeah, I was psyched when I found out I wouldn't have to wait for spells :D what combat maneuvers are you taking?
Nevermind I checked your sheet :D. Parry and riposte are definitely naturals for the feel of a dex type.

And I just love active parry type abilities; really makes me feel like my character is defending. (So of course I chose Shield :D)

I was stumped for a third ability. I think I'll be using parry+riposte for combat, so I wanted something more utility-focused for #3, and something used less often.

Tough call though, so many fun maneuvers. I can retrain them at later levels if I end up not liking Rally.

Yeah, its definitely good to have utility to back up combat prowess(its one weakness in the EK spellcasting. I only get one non-evocation/abjuration spell for each of my spell levels, so utility is at a premium)

In a trance I'm aware but to what degree am I allowed to react while remaining in the trance?


With Trancing, your long-rest cycle is pretty much just a shorter version of the same, plus you are aware while "asleep".

"A long rest is a period o f extended downtime, at least 8 hours long, during which a character sleeps or performs light activity: reading, talking, eating, or standing watch for no more than 2 hours. If the rest is interrupted by a period of strenuous activity—at least 1 hour of walking, fighting, casting spells, or similar adventuring activity—
the characters must begin the rest again to gain any benefit from it.

At the end o f a long rest, a character regains all lost hit points. The character also regains spent Hit Dice, up to a number of dice equal to half o f the character’s total number of them. For example, if a character has eight Hit Dice, he or she can regain four spent Hit Dice upon finishing a long rest.

A character can’t benefit from more than one long rest in a 24-hour period, and a character must have at least 1 hit point at the start of the rest to gain its benefits."

A question regarding spells: should I assume that spells are quantified and formalized, IE "That guy just cast magic missile at me!" Or should I go with more general descriptions, like "That guy's shooting his damned magic bolts at me!'


They're pretty formalized for those in the know. But like most things, the laymen won't know the general terms for spells. "HES SHOOTING FIRE AT ME!"

Yeah, I like it better for many reasons. On a hook was good because it meant you were dangling precariously, possibly as bait. However, preferring the bait hook and considering they are trying to catch the big shark, I figured chumming the water worked better. THAT and you're all chums, and one of you were in the water :D

ok, I'm a caught up. A few things I wanted to clarify/comment on.

Grellik's face would have gotten dark during the telling of rat fight when it got to Adrian's, ah, harsh? words to Trissae, but he would soften when/if Adrian seemed ashamed or regretful. He would not feel the need to comment on it.

Since Trissae was pretty adamant about keeping the naked prayer secret, should I assume that part was left out? Either way, it wont affect Grellik's reactions or behavior

Were the elvish bits between Trissae and Tease translated for us? Again, probably not super important, but it might affect Grellik's attitudes or responses in the future.

for triss's part the prayer wouldn't be brought up, can't speak on the other's behalf. She'd also not have felt it necessary to share the details about her and Tease's convo since it was only pertinent to them really.
