Holiday Message
For all the players in the United States – I know the next week can be hectic for most of us (I have adult children, four of them, one lives in Hawaii, one in Boise, and the other two in my city of Idaho Falls, and the crazy people are all coming home for Thanksgiving! Ah I’m going to go nuts.) so I don’t expect everyone to be on top of the posting for the next week, but you will see me occasionally. Thanks.

Couple of quick messages
Dieredon - I think the Slayer is acceptable
Alomar, Poseus, Phineas - I've been dragging my feet, BUT not because of you guys, I love what you are doing here, it is a smart stategy - I will update soon, sorry
Next week I am travelling to North Carolina to inspect a piece of equipment (stupid, stupid trip, two days on a plane to do a one day inspection) so things might be slow next week.
Marcus - thanks for sticking with this campaign, and i will try to get something going on for you soon.

No worries bro, I don't want to get too far "ahead" of the other group dynamics, so me going slower makes sense. In the word of badass Richard Sherman, "don't be mad bro", yes I am a Seahawks fan :)
I feel very integrated into the campaign/world so keep up the good work :)
Sorry bout to stupid trip, but safe travels nonetheless.

NEWS flash – Hello everybody, Happy Holidays, oh and North Carolina is a beautiful state
NEWS Flashy Flash – getting your flight cancelled, but being told by your employer that you are going anyway so you drive 200 miles in a rental car to the next airport, get rerouted through Los Angeles on a red eye flight at 12:30 am that lands in Charlotte at 8:00 am and then spending the whole day inspecting a machine and documentation so you don’t sleep for 36 hours, not so beautiful, then fly back the next day.
NEWS Flashining – I’m home now, sorry for the delays, I will try to update today, and maybe tomorrow. I expect everyone will be distracted for the next couple of weeks, but that’s okay, we will keep these games floating. Expect to see me post every couple days or more frequently, but no pressure on anyone else. Happy Holidays, again, enjoy

I will be traveling all day Sunday in the car and prepping most of the day tomorrow. My ability to check in on the game will be limited (but perhaps not non-existent) this weekend. While I'll be away from home until after New Year's, I should be able to post semi-regularly except on travel days.

A quick note before I post a couple of updates today.
I have been spending some time reviewing all the notes for this game, and I am embarrassed to say that the name of the Empire to which Calex and Dieredon belong to, as well as the population (mostly) of Castletown has been mistyped several times by me recently.
In the earliest notes it is Alodoa (with an “o”) not Aladoa (with an “a”)
I am going to try to stick with the first spelling in the future.
Calex has been knighted, officially granting him the title of “Sir”. A private message will be sent to Calex that details what is in the letter he is given describing what is expected of him in this capacity
Dieredon has been promoted to Lieutenant. This will also be explained in a private message
It is Day 7 for Marcus, Dieredon and Calex, Day 6 for Alomar, Poseus and Phineas.
I had hoped to add another player, playing a Lyph character, but that seems to have failed.

I'm Here! I'm here! Sorry- been working allot of overtime- we've had teething problems at the plant restarting all the equipment after we shut everything down for the Xmas season.
Calex |
Found this on Deviant Art. I thought you all might like it.
Brother Phineas |
The lack of continuity in playing/posting makes it hard for me to remember all the little details. If I mess something up, I apologize in advance.
EDIT: Not intended as a criticism, just a fact that I can't keep it all in my head.

Well I hope no one feels any pressure to immediately respond to any post. Take your tie, I spent about two hours today going back over several pages of any of my games. I knew the pace has become too Slw, and I will try to get on top of the spot nature of the party and get back on schedule, but in the mean tie, thanks for sticking with me!

Love that map, Calex. I am really looking forward to the advancement of this game and setting. i cannot wait to see the map you are preparing Terquem!

Hey guys. Just a heads up. I'm heading into the hospital for some minor surgery tomorrow, so I might be pretty out of it for the next week or so while I recover. I'm gonna be off work for 5-8 weeks so I'll be near the computer, just not sure how much I'll be able to do while I'm off. I should be able to let you know more by the end of the weekend at the latest.
Calex |
I'm back- not allowed to sit at a computer for very long (Kidney operation- they drilled into my back to get at it) but I'll check up here every few days or so to keep up. Thanks for the well-wishes.

So I am pretty sure I am in the right place.
I'm the new player joining you guys. My character will be a ninja/sorceror (eventually going into the Trickster prestige class) sahilyph.
I'm still working out my character backstory and reading through the campaign, but I should be able to join you guys now.

So I had some downtime earlier today, so I started to write a bit about the sahilyph. Here is what I have so far:
Physical Description (this is mostly from what Tarquem supplied previously): Sahilyph stand between 7 and 12 inches tall, making them the smallest of the lyph subraces. They typically have platinum blonde hair, worn long by both sexes, but quite often they dye their hair. Their wings are similar in shape and mechanics to hummingbirds, but with iridescent feathers with colors ranging the entire spectrum. Some individuals wings even change color. Among the lyphs, they are known as the most skilled fliers. Their eyes are unvaryingly black and large, allowing them to see on the darkest of nights, with sharp, pointed teeth made for eating insects. Generally, they look like halflings but in miniature, giving the race a child like appearance.
They tend to eat insects, mice, and other tiny creatures, as well as the nectar of a certain flower that blooms only at night. In general, they enjoy sweet foods. They hunt singly or in small groups, taking advantage of ambush tactics to bring down prey.
Society: Sahilyph live in the deepest, darkest parts of forests or in isolated hilltop glades, typically far from other lyph populations. When they do live together, they live in villages high in the treetops or canopy, carefully hidden, often by magic, of no more than 20. Often, these villages are transient, forming as a matter of necessity, like when food is scarce, raising young, or there is a threat against them, but there are a number of larger, permanent settlements. However, they tend to live solitary lives, moving through the forest alone, but congregating with other sahilyphs during full moons to dance in the moonlight and perform rituals to promote and protect their forests. Despite their diffuse nature, they do have a power structure, with each population having a Queen, normally a sorceress or druid, that serves as a spiritual link to the forest. Sahilyphs follow the queen's lead on which rituals to perform and how to deal with outsiders.
Sahilyph are some of the most magically inclined lyph, often producing fey sorcerors or druids. They consider themselves the guardians of the forest and of nature, and will defend it. However, their tactics are never direct. Travelers, settlers, loggers, etc. are all diverted by illusion and enchantment, causing many rumors of haunted forests and lost woods.
Relations: They rarely will interact with nonlyphs, often choosing to stay hidden from those who might harm them. With other lyphs, they are only mildly more interactive. Sahilyphs treat other lyphs with suspicion, but sahilyph do appear in lyph summits and have some trade relations. Other lyphs species regard them highly for natural magic or knowledge, but as finding one is difficult, they rarely try. Some sahilyphs do choose to live among the other lyph species, and there they are well regarded, especially if they have magic.
Any questions/comments/concerns/ideas?
Edit: Thanks Calex

I would imagine most of their villages/dwellings would be high up in treetops or cliff sides. I mean- if you can fly why WOULDN'T you take the advantages that height gives you, right?
Poseus Murandae |
Depending on the kind of Lyph probably yes, but there would probably be also a few Lyphs or a sort of Lyph that are caretakers and love the interaction with animals, they'd stay closer to the ground I'd wager.
Sahilyphs being the best fliers, I'd suspect they are having their homes preferably high up, I think Caorann has it by the right end.
Caorann, are you a high-ranking Lyph yourself or one with those ambitions?
