No worries Terquem- the delay actually works in my favor- what with the kitchen reno going over budget, the oven needing repair, the dishwasher needing replacing...oh and when we went to get the deck ready for bbq season we found the grill had rusted out the bottom over the winter. Add that to the travel trailer getting broken into and vandalized, probably from a bunch of kids across from the reservation, and suddenly I can see why the Chinese used "May you live in interesting times.." as a curse.

This is the last time I will be checking the boards before I head off into the woods for work. Please bot me as needed. I may or may not be able to get a post or two in sometime this week but if not I will be back on Sunday for the weekend before I leave for another week.
I'm very sorry for the inconvenience.
Poseus Murandae |
I'll be off from wednesday the 8th till friday night the 17th of july. I'll probably log back in on the following saturday. Having a small vacation on an island along the coast.
Bot me if needed and please don't get me killed ^^. Good luck!

I've sent a PM to Caoraan, but I think we have lost her.
I am up, but not out of the woods (first antibiotic failed, on the second one now) and I could not stay in bed any longer, so I got up and went to work yesterday. I started updating games, but quickly ran out of energy. I am at it again today.

We will finish this battle!
But, lets recap for a moment. Caoraan has disappeared. Dieredon has respectfully withdrawn. Poseus and Riku are on vacation
Which leaves Calex and Mina involved in the battle, for now
and Marcus holding down Woodbridge
current player roster is
Calex
Marcus
Riku
Poseus
Mina
That's five players, which isn't bad, but some of my ideas and notes were for a larger number of players, so I will recalibrate, and find a new direction for the game
If you want to throw your ideas out for me I'd love to hear them.
Mina Gemblossom |
I don't really have any specific preferences. Mina still just sorta 'exists' in the world. She has basic goals, but the current major goal stands in the way of pursuing that (and in fact is sort of a catalyst against them).

Well, there has been a lot of change since this began
I don’t know how much each of you is interested in developing parts of this campaign setting, but I’ve been going over the game and the other two games on these boards set in Alodoa, and making a list of things we’ve established so far. First there is a list of important events mentioned in each of the games, then I will be putting together a detail of the geography, and finally I will search the games for details of the cultures we have created so far.
If you want to have a hand in this process, just say so, and make a suggestion. I’m not saying everything that is suggested will be included, but it is open for discussion.
The Campaign Setting of Alodoa
A. Games within this setting
1. The Beginning of all things (starts in the year 1381)
2. Castle Caldwell and Beyond
3. Palace of the Vampire Queen, 5e
B. Time line of major events
1. The Beginning of All Things
a. Current year - 1381
b. Invasion of Orimar (Urandoma) by Alodoa – 1368
c. Duffy MacNorra discovers the ruins that become “MacNorra House” – 1330
d. Original construction of the buildings at “MacNorra House” - ?
e. Settling of MacNorra House by Gymnaga-folk – 1362
f. Birth of Poseus – 1364
g. Founding of the village of Kinamay Brawnoor – 1369
h. War between Iarishea and Alodoa – 1310
i. Unification of Maetaur and Urandoman people (Defeat of Tafganor race) - 263
2. Castle Caldwell and beyond
a. Current year - 1381
b. One year ago, war between Alodoa and Baravkovia
c. One Hundred fifty years ago – building of Castle Caldwell
d. Last occupants of the Castle (an unnamed family with ties to Baravkovia) leave the castle, 1367
3. Palace of the Vampire Queen, 5e
a. Current year – 1381

I think we've lost Marcus, which is sad because he was always such a kind supporter of this mess
I went to try and send him a PM, but the PM feature on all his alias accounts has been disabled.
I will try to update the game today
And as I particularly like this setting I am considering a Recruitment to bring in some new characters.
Terquem |
Thanks Marcus, I haven't forgotten you!
By the way, there wasn't any response to the post I made above about world building. For the record I would appreciate it if each player still interested in this gamer would do one thing for me
Give me the year of your character's birth, based on the timeline above, I am working up an Alodoan calendar of months
If you are not interested in world building please let me know so I don't put any pressure on you

So, I’ve got this really crazy idea.
I don’t expect that all the players, or even any of the players will go for it, but it is an idea I wanted to share.
First, let me just say Thank you! To all of you, I know I don’t move fast, and the post rate for this adventure has really suffered of late, and I appreciate everyone sticking with it through this tough time
One of the things I am trying to do to bring life back into this game is open a new recruitment. And I have no intention of ending this game, but I do have this crazy idea
See I was thinking of asking everyone to create there character (the same character you are playing in this game) as a 5e character, and opening a parallel game thread using 5e rules. Basically we’d run both games as if they are happening at the same time, but the 5e version would be more in line with the other two games I am running in this setting. It would be interesting because I would allow players to make different choices in the two different threads, so the campaign could go in different directions. We would, as always, as a group, all decide which events are the “official” Alodoan setting events.
I know it sounds crazy, and probably more work than it is worth, but it was just an Idea I was thinking about as I got ready to write up the new recruitment thread.

I'd be cool with either game... but probably not both.
If folks wish to swap to 5e, I wouldn't mind testing it out. I'm not sure how to perfectly transition Mina, but I'd be cool with it. (There is no shaman over there. A caster druid or a nature cleric might be my best bets. A warlock may have closer flavor to shaman.)
As for an age, I am uncertain. Mina would be young by Maetaur standards, but I don't remember seeing a rough 'age' list. It likely has been listed, and I likely did see it, but it escapes me.
Mina Gemblossom |
5e is -much- simpler. Unfortunately, that comes with all the downsides of simple. The 'broken' things are very easy to see, and it's not two puzzle pieces being jammed together to create the Mona Lisa. It's literally just 'pick one of 5 archetypes to completely break the game'. Attributes are way too important... and it takes until level 4+ to actually feel like you're your class (in my opinion). I started feeling like a storm cleric about the time my campaign died off. (although, to be fair... throwing people off of cliffs with lightning bolts from call lightning was amongst the most fun I have ever had as a player). Tempest Cleric was amazing. And not even one of the insanely broken options.

aaaaaaand I'm back! Sorry for the delayed response, everyone- I had some issues with my Win 10 install.
Anyway - to get caught up: Calex is about (this is a guess, since not even he knows for sure) 18 years old. That puts his birthdate at roughly the same as Poseus. Calex was found partially amnesia-tic and badly injured outside of Woodbridge 5 years ago. Despite being obviously Alodoan (he speaks with an Alodoan accent) Woodbridge is the only home he can remember.
As for 5th ed.: I haven't looked closely at it. I'm still learning Pathfinder, and tackling another system on top of that is not something I'm enthusiastic to try. Sorry Terquem I'm joining the "nay" side of the vote for that.
And in response to recruiting fresh players- I say absolutely! More is better, and while we've been at the game for a far span, our actual characters are not all that advanced yet, making it relatively painless to bring in new people, in my opinion.

Had to have a molar pulled this morning, I’ll be struggling to get back on track for a day or two, sorry for the delays.
Ouchie. Not fun. I hope they at least gave ya the good stuff for the pain!
Mina Gemblossom |
You're misremembering the stuff with Mina. I'd built her to be from Woodbridge, but on November 18th (At 1:32 PM) you sent me a PM explaining that you wanted Mina's origin to be from another village.
I'd initially wanted for her to have been a traveler around the Woodbridge area who spent a lot of time learning from the Gymnaga, but went along with the story change for plot reasons. :)
Mina Gemblossom |
Not a problem! :) I know I'm a problem child, I just don't want to be that much of a problem child that there are extra things that make me bad! :)

Really tried to get every game updated this weekend, but I didn't make it.
My tooth extraction of Tuesday isn't working out as well as everyone had hoped, and this Friday I go in for jaw surgery, so I may be off the boards for a day or two this coming weekend. But I will try to get this game, and the others I didn't get to yesterday, updated tomorrow.
Mina Gemblossom |
Feel better. :(
I've always had a different reaction to having my teeth pulled: It didn't hurt. I've only ever had them removed because it already hurt pretty bad, so comparatively speaking, it was a major relief.
:( Sorry that yours got worse.
Terquem |
Well, that's the truth. In the past I always waited to see if the tooth would get better, and that was always a bad idea. This time, as soon as the pain started I had them look at it, and it was cracked all the way down the root, so out it had to come - but hey the good news is I get to have a bone graft done on my jaw this Friday in prep for an implant (did you know they use ceramic and bovine bone to do bone grafts, ewwwwww).
Anyway, I am feeling better, and close to ready to introduce some new player characters.

I'm still not able to PM Marcus, but, hey, Marcus if you are reading this, there is a new human, urandoman player joining this game (he is in a couple of my other games)
He is 17 year old Robert Macintyre, and his family runs a farm Lakeside.
Also, we are adding a human urandoman, Alfred Redhil, who is now in Castletown, he is 44 years old, born in Woodbridge, but has been away for years (his family, according to the player, are very religious, so we might say that the Redhill family keeps to themselves, and they have a residence, Lakeside)
lastly, we have a human, Alodoan, who lives in the marshes near Lakeside, Marwan del Hechizo, an odd sort of fellow, who probably comes into Woodbridge a few times every year.
Terquem |
I have begun to update this journal to include everything we know about Woodbridge, and the Alodoan Campaign Setting
Please visit it, and if you have any suggestions, or need to get your own creations identified or updated, PM me with the details. I'll begin adding some of the pantheons we have created in the next few days. I'll also be adding information about Harrispania (The Castle Caldwell game) and Baylor (the Palace of the vampire Queen, the 5e version game).
