One would think that having ended the Urgathoan threat to the city, our heroes would be granted more time to rest. But alas, that is not the case. For Queen Ileosa herself has condemned Old Korvosa to a slow death, and is forcing the Korvosan Guard and Sable Company out in favour of a military force loyal to her alone--her Grey Maidens.

She must be removed from the throne, and the man who has the authority to unite the Peerage in doing so is trapped somewhere in Old Korvosa.

Ortik grimaced as Vreeg froze Nalun in place. He spied Karri chanting the words to a familiar spell, so he started echoing them. You can stop one of us, he thought. I'll wager you can't stop us both.

Dropping faerie fire to cast summon nature's ally I, summoning a stirge rather than an eagle, because Ortik is weird.

I think the eagle is mechanically the better choice, especially once Augment Summoning gets taken, but the stirge is sorta cool too. It also makes a lot more sense for Ortik to summon one.

Demitri's bolt hits Vreeg in the toe, causing the derro to look down in irritation.

"...really? Really?"

He then notices Karri & Ortik beginning to cast spells, causing him to grumble. He points his wand at Karri, sending the ghostly hand at her!

Ranged Touch Attack (Dazzled): 1d20 + 8 - 1 ⇒ (2) + 8 - 1 = 9

The hand streaks towards the sorceress... and thanks to Ortik's flare ruining his eyes, barely misses her. "Oh... this isn't going to end well, is it?"

Karralo starts awake and begins flailing around blindly. "OW! OW OW OW! WHAT THE F~&!?! I CAN'T SEE!"

The air fills with a droning buzz, and a swarm of flies and insects appears near Vreeg. Shooting out of it is a mosquito-like creature the size of a cat, and it flies towards the derro's neck.

Disease? (low is bad): 1d100 ⇒ 56

Assuming this hits, Vreeg is grabbed and takes a point of Con damage as Buzz drinks his blood. Buzz is a very well-groomed stirge, so he doesn't have any diseases.

"Any time you want to surrender, necromancer, just let us know." Ortik watches the fight unfold, but takes no further actions.

With a howl from the depths of her soul, Karri summons a twisted bird-like thing from her flesh. She throws it towards the levitating wizard and backs out of the room. Her face if grinning, something is pleased with the results.

The wicked head smashes into the floor near Karralo with a clang. Karri's natural voice cries out, "Surrender so he won't kill you!"

Demitri seeing the necromance being taken care of, drops his crossbow picking up his sword in the process and moves to threaten Karralo stepping behind Karri. "She is right that you should surrender. You're blind, outmanned, and out weaponed."

Karri's summoned eagle claws and pecks at Vreeg, but the derro is too quick, managing to dodge each attack.

Karralo writhes on the floor, barely dodging Karri's morningstar. He doesn't hear anyone's pleas to surrender, (mainly because he's DEAF) but the spray of dirt across his face is enough to finally catch his attention.

"OW! F%$*! STOP THAT! I GIVE! I GIVE!"

Lyla is up!

Lyla puts down the flail and pulls out the crossbow again as she runs through Vreeg's room. She stops at the door to the last, unexplored chamber, and takes a peak inside while reloading the crossbow.

Second move actio - reload crossbow and take a look at the other chamber

This dry, well-kept chamber contains a narrow bed, a relatively empty shelf containing only a few books and some bones and skulls, and a long bench. A man’s torso, the chest bearing numerous tribal tattoos and with the right arm still attached, lies on this bench. The arm periodically thrashes and clutches at the air as if it were alive.

Vreeg squawks and swings at the stirge stuck to him with the dagger in his hand!

Karri plants the head of her morning star on Karralo's chest. The meaning should be clear. To make sure it is, she twists, letting one of the spikes gouge Karralo.

Buzz is anchored firmly on Vreeg, despite the derro mage's best efforts. Karri's eagle's claw scrapes along Vreeg's arm, and manages to draw blood thanks to the stirge's assistance!

The derro glares at the stirge and channels necromantic power into his hand, reaching out to grasp the creature!

Touch Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (19) + 7 = 26
Damage (Cold): 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

This time, the chill of the grave overcomes Buzz, causing the stirge to shrivel and blacken before falling off, truly dead. "Hmph. Amateurish." Vreeg grumbles.

Vreeg glares at the clustered Nalun & Ortik. "That's it. I am officially done with this."

He raises a finger and points at the two. "Hope you weren't too attached to your ears!" He gloats as Nalun's readied shot flies wide.

Karri's eagle claws at Vreeg twice, each time being foiled by the translucent disc of force he conjured up. A white bubble streaks from his finger and *POPS* in between Nalun & Ortik!

Sonic Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 6
Fortitude Save (Nalun): 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 20
Fortitude Save (Ortik): 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25

The noise rings throughout the room, but despite being at the centre of it, the bounty hunter & the dwarf are able to keep their senses about them!

Nalun & Ortik take 6 points of damage.

Vreeg then swoops down right in Lyla's face. "Now for YOU." He growls. His eyes gleam with rage and insanity in equal measure.

Karralo blinks several times as Karri's magic finally wears off. He snorts at Demitri. "FINE. GO AHEAD AND CUFF ME--SEE IF I CARE. VREEG WON'T EVEN CONSIDER IT, THE MAD LITTLE S&#$."

Yep, he's still deaf.

Vreeg snorts derisively as Lyla's bolt hits him in the shoulder...

Fortitude Save vs. Poison: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (18) + 5 = 23

...then lashes out with a hand that is *thrumming* with grave magic!

Touch AoO: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14

...and thanks to Lyla's reduced size, he misses her by a hair. He doesn't scream or howl this time.

Maybe it isn't a charge...there might be a bed in the way. If its not a charge subtract 2 from the attack roll.

The derro spins around. "Ex-CUSE me, I was in the MIDDLE--" He trails off when he sees just who it is that's standing before him.

"...of course. Deaf and stubborn. WHY NOT?! I CAN'T IMAGINE THIS DAY COULD GET ANY WORSE!"

Demitri, Karri & Ortik are up!

"Oh, Torag's t***," Ortik mutters as the necromancer swoops down before Lyla. He pulls his warhammer and moves up to harry the mage as well, hopping over the bed as he goes. "Bad plan, derro man. Now that you're down, you're staying down."

Ortik's swing comes at Vreeg, but the translucent disc of force interposes itself between the two of them, taking the blow.

Vreeg focuses on Nalun and starts weaving his hands, nimbly trying to avoid leaving himself open to retaliation!

Will Save (Nalun): 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18

He finishes his incantation and points a finger at him!

An image of Trinia's face flashes before your eyes.

Worms crawl from her eyes. Tears of blood run down her cheeks. The skin of her face peels back and she SHRIEKS!

Your heart leaps into your throat, but you hold fast--Trinia is nowhere near this hellhole. She's safe. She's alright. At least, that's what your memories tell you.

The magic still makes your hands shake, though. Giving you a start like that has thrown off your aim a bit.

Nalun is staggered for a moment, but somehow manages to keep his composure!

Ortik cringes as the derro's blood is sprayed over his face. "Damn fool. Damn shame we couldn't take him alive, but dead's just as good for someone like him what perverts the natural order. It's right about now I wish I'd actually tried to weasel some information out of him during the fight - he was certainly chatty enough."

"Anyway, Demitri's right," he says, pulling the wand from his coat pocket. "Line forms to the right. I'll start fixing you up, right as rain."

I'll start by healing myself. If you're hurt, just roll the dice on your post, and assume I'm healing you.
