The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Heh, I'm running a doppelganger as well...

Factotum/Chameleon, "I can do anything build"...

well casil, that shall certainly make for an interesting dynamic, assuming it's known each is a doppelganger... I don't plan on making that general knowledge.

Here's the template from d20pfsrd. I didn't realize when I was lokoing at it that it's 3rd party, it didn't look overpowering...

The concept seems sound to me. Just need to know what the Missing Template is.

Also: Finally, a new character that could already be enrolled!

This. Yes. It's a big school and there are a lot of background characters. It is quite possible for one of them to step forward and become a main character even though they've technically been there all along. :)

linkified

Yeah, that template will work just fine in this game.

Since my other PM hasn't been answered, I'm going to take a leap of faith and guess that its ok and go ahead and build the new template :-) lol

Sorry! I replied to the one and then forgot to reply to the other. Yes, it's ok. :)

unless it is incredibly broken, most things are okay in this game. we have people playing full grown dragons with a not-so-tiny bit of divine power after all.

More often than not if I have to tell someone to alter something it's because it needs to be stronger not weaker, yes. :)

Shadow Lodge

To be fair, the only full-grown dragons are Ryleh and Aananda, which are both run by our lovely GM. Otherwise I think they are all in the young adult stage...

you, sir, are making hairs into multiple thinner hairs .. ;)

Shadow Lodge

I do what I can. :)

Dragonborn3 wrote:

Actually Aananda is still young adult. The others are all juvenile. Because of their were-dragon status they reach sexual maturity faster than a normal dragon (at the juvenile age category rather than the young adult). So technically Ryleh is the only full grown dragon. :)

Note: actually I think Krays is also counted as young adult rather than juvenile. Having two lifetimes to draw from and all that...

I rather err on the side of caution, just in case. Peoples level of "powerful and epic" can v ary widely

Check out Dicefreaks.com and their Gates of Hell or Upper_Krust's Immortal Handbook work, for either edition.

That is th type of back ground I come from. To me that's powerful, but I realize a LOT of people don't think that way.

Pathfinder Rulebook Subscriber

Yeah Krays is a young adult. He's still remembering how to be a dragon...

Just wanted to drop in to say how much I still enjoy reading all the fun you folk are having. Gotta great game here, wish I had the time and schedule to participate. But love the fun!

Glad to know we're still entertaining you. We shall endeavor to keep it a good read. ^.^

And here is the crunch for my doppelganger (I know, crucnch is light, but i like).

Working on some background and a few of the more common descriptions.

Looks good, but too many magic items. Only one or at most two magic items important to the concept are allowed. If you need an ability boost, just boost the ability score and don't worry too much about having to carry stuff around. Field trips are rare and for the most part you're going to be in the school building. :)

Nother PM sent Lyn.

Thanks again for all your help!

As this thread is lower on the Recruitment list than I like at the moment, I'm bumping it! Come one, come all, read the Campaign Info and see if you'd like to join this wonderful game!

Great concept, great folk and looks to be great fun.

(thought I would help your bumping endeavors)

Greg

Since this is an always open recruitment, might it not be wise to post the character creation guidelines in the campaign info tab, so they're always accessible?

I would make sure to include the few stats Lyn has said should be figured out, like BAB, Saves, etc.

The Exchange

I'm thinking of making a character for this forum, since a friend of mind was trying to get me to. However I prolly will have to work with a GM since I was thinking of porting a character from a completely different system than pathfinder.

The concept is a elven scholar monk that started out as a pacifist. That his only combative skills was defensive. After traveling with a adventuring party for a awhile he found that he was going to end up hurting someone so he left the group returned to his order to so that he could have them place the forgotten knowledge he had gained and resign from the order on good terms. After he traveled the land till he heard of an island were a war between demons and a coalition of elves, dwarves, humans. There he learned a new way to live, one of war. He trained as a demon bow archer.

Drop me a line if you like or dislike the concept. If you want more information about the character or classes he was, just let me know.

Shadow Lodge

Well if it isn't my Dreaming Cities GM! I was wondering whether it would be you or our group's Tech Adept that would show up first.

The Exchange

How did you figure me out, and here I thought I hid it well. lol. Just got to get an approved char now. Salis will be my first attempt since I would have the least amount of work porting it over. Just worried that the porting over wont translate well with his defensive skill. Since pathfinder uses AC and palladium uses parry and dodge rolls. the rest will be easy though. Except some of his magic items at least, but most of them I don't care about.

I got an idea for a character for this campaign. I, too, have a friend that highly suggested this forum and it sounds a whole lot of fun!

The main concept is that she is a Duskblade, mid to late student, and she has a natural fire ability... That she can't control very well. The ability is tied to her emotions and how well she can control them (and being a teenage girl, you can just imagine the amount of control she would have on a good day). It can range from a comical accident to something catastrophic. An example of how her power works when she does try to use it willingly ( that being few and far between), its a mix of Pyro and a fire-bender, only she can create the flame.

Please let me know if this something we could work with!

Shadow Lodge

Awesome!

Okay, for Salis we can use the Parry rules the Duelist Prestige class has, and a feat from a pdf I've got for the dodge rolls. I'll post that tomorrow.

For the up-and-coming Pyro I can't think of much more than that Magus might work better than Duskblade, and that the Words of Power system would be a good fit.

Shadow Lodge

Here is the Feat for Salis.

Acrobatic Dodge(Combat):

Your nimble moves often allow you to
flip away from a foe’s attack.
Prerequisites: Dex 15, Acrobatic.
Benefit: As an immediate action when
you would normally be hit with a melee
or ranged attack roll, you may make an
Acrobatics check to avoid being hit. The
DC for this check is equal to the attack roll
that hit you. You gain a free 5‑foot step as
part of this Acrobatics check, and must take
it. (If you cannot take your 5‑foot step, you
cannot use this feat. The movement doesn’t
count against any other movement you are
taking, and does not provoke an attack of
opportunity.) You may only use this feat
when you have an armor check penalty of 0,
are carrying no more than a light load, and
are not wielding a two‑handed weapon or
shield. You may use this ability a number
of times per day equal to 3 + your Dexterity
bonus.

The Exchange

Doesn't quite work since Salis is an archer. So to make it work we would have to count the bow as one handed and the arrows as off-hand, for the purposes of this feat. Not hard to believe since while not firing an arrow a bow is held with one hand. I like the feat though, may have to use it on a char in the future.

Ok I'm changing the Duskblade to a duel class magus and fire oracle. From what I read about them, it should work, I just have to get the numbers down on paper and figure everything out, other than that , hopefully I'm golden! Bounces in chair in excitement to play

Shadow Lodge

If it would help, here is how Gestalt works.

Thanks for that, I think I understand how exactly that works now. I'm currently making adjustments now!

Shadow Lodge

Not a problem. I know I couldn't have explained it very well.

The Exchange

Thanks that clears up a little confusion I was having, but you explained it quite well.

Shadow Lodge

Whenever you guys are ready, let me know and have your stats ready so I can give them a look. Then have your characters show up at the school however you want(within reason) and I'll work you in somehow.

Ok my stats are on my profile.

Shadow Lodge

Just add in class features, feats, skills, etc and you'll be done. A little background never hurt either, but that can come out in-game if you want.

Any room for an accidentally lichified non-evil fetchling summoner/weaponmaster around here? It's cliche and silly, I know, but a possible opportunity to roll summoners, fetchlings, liches, and weaponmasters into a ball is too good to not try. That, and I have no idea how I'd stat an ageless, mostly-unkillable, ooze-like creature with a humanoid form, childlike intellect, and potentially complete mastery over space (gravity, teleportation, manipulation, conjuration, etc... All this and he enjoys summoning hats and other headgear), which was my first thought upon seeing this.

Ok profile has been updated!

Hey, I was thinking about making a character for this, is there anything I should know about?

the concept is gestalt fighter/malefactor

Shadow Lodge

Where is the malefactor from? A link would be great.

There is always room for more, but it might be better without the lich part. Maybe a curse that gives you the Half-Undead racial option from the ARG.

Of course, if you can give a good reason for accidental lichification, it's easier to accept. Background is a real part of this game, even if it takes a while for it to have any impact.

Would a Young Adult Silver dragon be allowed in this game? If there is still room that is~

I will look back at the beginning and see what books/classes are allowable but I was thinking something along the lines of Time Thief/Magus. :)

Looks like it would be a very fun and relaxed setting to be in. I haven't read your main forum yet because I didn't know if it was allowed for prospects to do so. ^.^;

Dragonborn3 wrote:

Malefactor is from TPK games.

Dragons are a tricky addition to the game, due to the setting. Check out the campaign info tab for more on that.

That being said, I believe there are some sort of dragons in the game, but I am uncertain how many will continue to be allowed.

I will eventually get my PC ready for this game, just got distracted and needed to create other PCs first, what with most games having deadlines and such.

Understandable, Dragons are a hard sell in most cases. Thanks for the honesty. :)

I am looking into the campaign tab at the moment :D, avoiding the game tab for more player knowledge reasons. Also it is 20,000 posts big o.O;;;;

I've been thinking up some more concepts and will post them soonish :)

Edit Reading the tab on dragons it sounds like dragon disciple wouldn't be very plausible but I do very much understand what you were saying now. ^^;;

Now to look into Gestalt classes setups, i've done it before in 3.5 but not Pathfinder. I'm sure they are very similar. The other issue is I haven't done one of those recently so this will take sometime to put together. xD

Ok question... Is this gamme recuitong new players? and is it a pathfinder or 3.5 game or a mix of both?

Shadow Lodge

Edward Sobel wrote:

We are always open to new players, on the idea that they can add to the game and make it better in ways current players wouldn't think of. It's a mix of 3.5/PF, but is primarily PF.

We may talk about this a bit more later on, after or "GM" Lynora is back. No promises, but I have... ideas. (:<

Yeah, it's the biggest post count on Paizo! Also, feel free to read the game thread! I'm pretty sure it's encouraged. :)

Actually, we do have a character that has trace amounts of dragon DNA already, so DD is still plausible. Knowing your abilities are draconic in nature on the other hand...
