The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

"A joint effort by all three of us then, since she cursed the energy. I'm willing to take the blame though. The most effective way was the worst, you're right about that, but it was the only way that would keep the wards from breaking down again."

Image

"I'll forgive you eventually. Just give me a decade or two. And none of us counted on Ephebe having abilities and allies we'd never seen before. Should have. Didn't."

"The new wards are especially good though. Courtesy of them I made a new 'friend'. He's an imperial inquisitor and part time red dragon who can't quite bring himself to leave knowing he'll forget everything he's learned so far," he said with a grin.

"Hey, why are you sleeping so much anyways? You finally get out to explore the cosmos and you're sleeping a lot? What gives?"

"They're self-sustaining too, sort of like the little statues we were using since the use expended energy as a power source."

"My body's not up to a full day of activity right now, so I've been keeping it rested while Kam and I travel. Made a construct so I could rest and explore at the same time without tiring out."

Image

"Did you get hurt? Don't tell me you're fine if it's not true! Dammit, Tare, even if I'm mad at you, I still don't want anything bad to happen to you!"

Taron just smiles and closes his eyes.

"I'm not hurt."

Image

"You're not hurt, but you're tired all the time and your body isn't up to a full day of....that sounds suspiciously like Ephebe, you know.....but, you're both guys so.....that can't be right.....Mom is going to flip out if that's right...."

"That would be something to see, wouldn't it? You're wrong though, so don't worry about me."

Image

"Well, that's....what am I wrong about? I'm learning that I need to be extra specific with you...apparently you took mysteriousness lessons from Uncle Ryo."

Meanwhile back at Avalon...

After making sure the members of her field trip were all okay and sending them off to get a hot meal and a bath, probably in the reverse order, Ori makes her way to the office. She knocks timidly on the door to Keaton's office.

"Professor Antairus? Do you...ummm.....have a minute?"

Female Half-elf Gestalt Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple9 // Rogue (Swashbuckler)8/Duelist7

Aw, and the yaoi fangirls thought they might finally get the answer to the burning question of: Who is the bottom in that relationship? Demon or Dragon?

Also, Jiminy totally forgot to mention the whole Vai being adopted after getting kidnapped, or the Ephebe getting kidnapped by Madness! Not that these were important or anything >_>

Vai sighs. "Well, at least he takes after Mom in that way. I wish she'd let me help, but I don't know enough about the stuff in the lab. I just get in the way. You're okay though, too? That fight was hard, even on the Champions." Vai is slumping in the chair, clearly tired. "It's been a looong weekend."

"How is he, anyway? I felt his mind traveling through the Empire for a moment. He wasn't looking for us though, was he?"

You show me a fanfic about the two and I'll tell you! ;)

"Dont think so. Didn't happen while I was around anyhow, so I can't say for sure. Nice job changing the subject too."

::Excellent. I... Thank you, Headmaster. How soon can it be arranged? I would like to try tonight, if possible.:: Anthony finally "hears" Ehos' voice, as he speaks through telepathic connection. His voice sounds almost identical to what it did two years ago, except for a small note of sorrow.

In case it was missed, Tyrrin leaving was the librarian's cue to "catch" her.

Morgan makes his way into the Mystery section and steps in front of Tyrrin. He recognizes her from his earlier spell.

"Awake now I see, good. Anything you need help looking for? I'm Mr. Morgan the librarian by the way. What is your name if I may ask?"

Tyrrin doesn't slow down until she was just about to pass the Librarian, but stopped when he asks her name. "Pleasure to meet you Mr. Morgan. I am Tyrrin Denulia, Daughter of High Seer Denulia. I have finished my research for the day, thank you." She says simply, before proceeding on her way.

I'm not blocking, I promise, that's just how Tyrrin is. Walk with her. xD

::A minute please.:: Ryo thinks as he turns to a map of the school and looks at the various gym rooms. He taps one after a moment. ::There you go, Gym Room 11 will be soundproof by the time you get there. If you choose to go tonight that is. I took the liberty of adding targets as well.::

She walked in and sat down at the chair in front of his desk. "I...could use some advice. On how to break it to the Headmaster that I lied to him during my interview. One small direct lie about my age. And a giant whopping huge lie of omission that occassionally puts my students in danger. Quite frankly, I expect to be fired, but I'd like to get through the process as painlessly as possible."

"You'll have to explain the details a bit better than that, Professor. My brother doesn't like anything less than full explanations."

"One, TMI, bro. And two, you can't possibly think I'd find that strange. You have met Fi right? Only two days, and he took breaks? That's just normal."

"It's not my fault your mind went straight to the gutter, now is it?" ;p

She grimaced. "I'll be 21 in a couple of months. I lied about my age to get the bar tending job and it just got to be a habit. I think I told him I was 24."

"The other is a little harder to explain. When I was a student I...got involved with one of my teachers. I was young, and bloody stupid, and actually believed the lying bastard when he told me he loved me. When I found out that I wasn't the only student he was having an affair with I....caused a scene to put it mildly. The administration decided to take a blame the victim approach to the scandal and I....well, I ran away. I was hurt and angry and I didn't feel I could trust anyone. Which was how I ended up accidentally running right into a sacred burial ground and accidentally breaking some seals and much more accidentally bonding with an angry, vengeful nature spirit. The creature that destroyed my school? I'm it. They made this amulet for me that keeps the nature spirit contained, but when I lose my temper the amulet just isn't enough. That's how I lost my bartending job. I got the job because I was dating the bar-owner's brother. And then one day I went home early, I don't even remember why and found him in bed with the landlord's daughter. I kinda lost it. Thankfully I didn't kill anyone, but the apartment building was rubble and of course I was out of a job. From this I learned two things. One, I have terrible taste in men and clearly need to be single for a while until I develop a better sense of character. And two, I need to find some way to bind this thing better or separate it from me altogether. It's a project I've been working on in my spare time actually. Anways, today while we were out on the field trip, I....lost my temper a bit. Thankfully the kids had the presence of mind to run and weren't hurt. But they could have been. When the nature spirit comes out, I'm not really in control of what's going on. And that's pretty much the whole story. At least the summary anyhow."

I assure you, dear brother, that my mind went to far more pleasant places than the gutter. Do try to clean up before you see Fieri again, I'm sure she'll appreciate it."

"Dad's going to bring us back, actually. He's got the idea we should know more about the Empire's secret police first."

"Wait...are you kidding me? All that is in my file? HOW? For that matter, why on earth would the Headmaster hire me as a teacher knowing I was barely older than the students, emotionally unstable, and possessed by a giant angry nature spirit?!?"

Ori Reading wrote:

"Sometimes the best teachers are your peers. Headmaster Ryo thought you were close enough to being a student for that to count." Keaton explains. "Also, background checks are simple matters for a High Seer."

"Worried about what to do now that she couldn't tell you to clean up your part of the room." Taron replies with a duplicate grin.

"Right. I should have expected that. Obviously, thinking things through is not my forte."

"Heh. No, not really. I have to be careful where I leave stuff nowadays. She tends to leave music and instruments everywhere and she will indiscriminately burn anything that gets in the way of that. Putting things away is my only way to make sure I keep them. Ephebe said something about karma. I didn't quite catch it through the laughter. There was something about the situation she found highly amusing," he said dryly.

"Karma, huh?" Taron laughs, sitting up and clapping his brother on the back. "Glad I don't have to be like you and try to figure out women." ^-^

"You seem to have done a good job so far. You took three students into a jungle, and then came back with all three in good condition, did you not? Give yourself some credit, Professor."

Jiminy smiles and shrugs. "I'm pretty sure I'll never figure her out, but I don't mind. She was my best friend for a long time before she was my mate. And we fight a lot less now that she's not trying to date other guys. I can't believe it took me so long to figure out why I kept sabotaging all her dates. I can't believe none of you guys pointed out the obvious...though I kind of understand the desire to sit back and watch the show."

"Yes, I did a splendid job...with the exception of the part where I turned into a 15 ft tall tree creature and caused earthquakes and windstorms that could have easily killed or maimed said students if they hadn't been practical enough to run away."

"Why are you not yelling at me? This is usually the part where I should be getting a lengthy and surprisingly thorough lecture on my irresponsibility and general lack of worth as a person. That's how it always went before."

"No, but I got the rather surprising reaction that you guys already knew all of this stuff and I'm not being lectured or tossed out on my ear. Honestly, I'm not quite sure what to do with that," she said looking utterly confused. "I'll just be going then. I smell like swamp which is odd since I was in a jungle not a swamp. And I could use a bath."

"Oh, there's a bag of curiosities there. Tech stuff mostly. I haven't the foggiest what to do with it or what it is, but I thought someone here might like it," she added, bemused.

"Right. Umm....I guess I....have lesson plans to work on."

"That really didn't go at all how I expected," she muttered as she walked away.

"FAIN is doing great. I think that's really helping her stay on a mostly even keel. But she's struggling a lot more than she wants to let on with the way her family betrayed her. She knew she was going to be disowned, but the way they did it....She's got a lot of anger with no place to go."

"Let it all come my way if it will help. Heck, send her my way next time she sleeps."

Image

"I can try, but most nights she ends up getting up in the middle of the night and going to curl up in the kiln. She does that when she's stressed, but every night...it's kinda unusual. Anyways, it's hard to connect to her in dreams when she's in the kiln."

"Get Mom to give her a good MedScan when you wake up. The stress might be getting to her and causing her body to go out of whack."

Image

"Probably a good idea. If nothing else I'd appreciate knowing if nothing's actually wrong. I....I kinda feel like I'm letting her down since I've been so busy lately. Guess I could use to occasionally take a breather and spend more than a few minutes with my mate," he admitted sheepishly.

"Eh, I'm sure she's fine. Talk to her, give her a massage, throw in a dinner of charcoal, then just cuddle. Or you could try your usual, and do something completely over the top that will just make her laugh."

Image

Jiminy grimaced. "The cafeteria staff swear that she's going to become malnourished if she eats any more charcoal. As much as she wants it, it doesn't actually have any nutritional content. But you're right about her laughing at over the top gestures. She laughed for ten whole minutes when I filled her whole bathroom with roses. It was supposed to be romantic," he said glumly.
He sighed. "Well, being able to make her laugh is something anyways. Thanks for the advice."

"So why is it we rarely talk like this when we're awake?"

"Ask Razule to make something like that energy drink Sis loves so much. Should be pretty easy for him by now."

"Man it's easy to change subjects. I can see why Uncle is able to do it all the time." :p

Image

"Thanks for the reminder....so what is it that's making you so tired, bro? You said you weren't hurt....are you sick?"
