The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

"Ooh, can I answer that? As this boy's temporary guardian this whole thing is kind of my responsibility after all. And my answer is, screw you. He did pass the test. And we'll make sure he passes the next one and the next and the next. That's how this works. If you're going to be trouble, fine. It's not like we weren't expecting that. But don't think we're just going to give up because you growl at us a little."

She covered her face with her hands. "I don't know what to do."

Both Ryo and Razule stay silent. This was not their decision to make.

"My, aren't you the fiesty one! Almost seems like a waste to have my pride kill such a unique grouping. A hybrid, a lycan, a world-dreamer, and a paper witch, all together! Children, if you will?" As if on que, several more dweomercats seem to appear out of thin air* behind the apparent leader. "I like you, so if you put the book back, you can leave relatively unscathed. Last chance."

*Jeran knows that dweomercats can use dimension door.

"At the very least, she would take revenge in some horribly painful way. On the whole school. For helping me."

"Even if we do this...I would have to do the surgery on Mr. Dacamara first. It would be better if I had more time to study, but power is more important than knowledge for that. Miss Jones can help me with the parts I don't understand. It's more of a risk for him, but that still beats having me unable to even do it. He doesn't have that much time."

Nala paced back and forth across the office. "To be human...probably human. I think. Most likely. Well, humanish. Human shaped? Not a lot of the knights are pureblood humans. And all I know about my father is that he was a knight. The last one was a half-troll. So the other half of my DNA could be almost anything. That's something to consider too. You might want to do an analysis first."

"The best way to get rid of the Queen is some sort of bargain. The trick is to deceive her more successfully than she deceives you. Nobody will be playing fair. And fair warning, it usually ends up very, very, very badly for the other side. The number of mortals who have won against her can be counted on one hand of a penguin...yes, I am aware that penguins don't have hands."

Ori pulled an amulet out of her robes. "The thing about trees is that in essence all they are is unrefined paper," she said as light started to accumulate around her.

As she spoke two trees uprooted themselves and began to walk towards the approaching dweomercats.

Sadie pulled a non-essential scarf off of her costume and handed it to Vai to wipe off the blood. She smiled gently.

"No way. You didn't ruin anything. You were awesome. The way you told her off...Nobody has ever stood up for me like that. Zren and Rikken have my back, but they always follow my lead. Not like that. I...I think I might love you. Ummm....no pressure to say anything to that. Sorry. I really need to stop blurting things out. It's like I'm talking faster than I can think tonight. C'mon, let's get you to the infirmary."

Vai couldn't hide the truth from Sadie anymore. If she thought that she loved her, Vai had to show her the truth. Vai speaks through the scarf, which she is now holding in front of her face. "I... I don't like seeing my friends insulted. I think I'm okay without going to the infirmary, but... can we go somewhere private? I think I know a good place." If Sadie ascents, Vai will lead them to the room that she and Fei use for training sessions, and lock the door behind them.

Image

"Umm...okay. This is about what you were saying earlier? Some kind of secret or something like that?" she asked, noticing Vai's serious expression. "If you're sure you don't need the infirmary, then sure, we can go wherever you like."

She followed Vai to another part of the school basement and waited to hear what Vai wanted to tell her.

Female Half-elf Gestalt Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple9 // Rogue (Swashbuckler)8/Duelist7

"Yes it's a secret... at least for another week. I just don't feel right hiding it from you... you deserve to know what you're getting into." Vai finishes and then stumbles out into the middle of the large room. She closes her eyes and almost falls over for it. Steadying herself, Vai keeps her eyes open and fixed on Sadie as she begins transforming. The changes start sluggishly, but begin to slowly speed up as Vai grows and feels less intoxicated. Finally finished, Vai speaks, almost pleading. If Sadie couldn't accept her, she couldn't hold much hope for the rest of the school. "This is me."

Image

Sadie just stared open-mouthed for a long moment before taking a few unsteady steps towards Vai.

She reached out a hand to touch Vai's scales and stopped, remembering that Vai was uncomfortable being touched. "M-may I?"

Vai had shied away initially, but she settled down. Sadie hadn't run away, or called her a monster or any of the other horrible things her imagination had conjured up. "Y-yes." she replied nervously. "I... I trust you."

Image

Sadie ran her fingers lightly across the surface of Vai's scales. "So beautiful," she breathed. "The way that your skin shimmers in the light. I didn't kow there were so many shades of blue."

"Umm....this is going to sound like a dumb question, but what are you? I've never seen anything like you before."

Female Half-elf Gestalt Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple9 // Rogue (Swashbuckler)8/Duelist7

Vai beamed when Sadie started stroking her scales. It felt strangely nice, the light touch of Sadie's fingers. Vai stretched her wings to show off a bit. While her other clothing had melded into her, Vai felt her necklace still around her neck, casting a glint here and there. "Have you ever heard of dragons?"

Image

Sadie looked thoughtful. "I've heard stories. Well, they sounded pretty awful in the stories. All mean and ugly and terrifying." She shrugged. "I guess it's another thing those stories got wrong. You're nothing like that. You're kind and beautiful and I don't feel the least bit scared around you. Though with the size and the claws I can guess why the stories got started, especially if not all dragons are kind. It only takes one bad apple to make everyone run away screaming forever after," she said wryly.

Female Half-elf Gestalt Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple9 // Rogue (Swashbuckler)8/Duelist7

Vai expression turns dark. There certainly was one bad apple she could think of... but he was dead now. Dead. He couldn't do anything to her anymore. "I... I can tell you first-hand that not all dragons are kind. And I grew up hearing the same stories, or close to by the sounds... I always thought dragons were monsters." Vai pauses thinking about her family - a family of dragons that had only ever been kind to her. "But the stories aren't always true. There are other kind dragons too. More at the school too, but it's not my place to tell you who."

Image

Sadie nods. "Okay. I won't ask you to break a confidence. I trust you, so if you say they're good, then I believe that."

"Vai...if you are a dragon, why did you grow up thinking dragons are monsters? Were you not born like this? Or did you just not know what you were?"

The dweomercats attacking Ori begins pacing around the light, looking for an opening their magical disruption had not provided. The two attacking the trees though are are stuck decently, but do not stop their attacks on the trees, clawing and biting through bark. [Honestly, with the hardness a big tree(like the ones in a jungle) has, and the low damage of a dweomercat, they probably aren't even hurting the trees much.

The one Jeran attacks looks to almost out of the fight already, favoring the side it was hit on as it circles around again.

"A non-sentient clone..." Ryo says under his breath as he thinks. He suddenly rips open a desk drawer and rummages through it until he holds up a large card. "This just might work. It's one of my older cards. The Doppelganger can be create copies of a person, but there is always something different about it. With a bit of focus, I should be able to create that clone."

"Great. Once the clone is made, if we deactivate my fey DNA, then the clone should count as a daughter for purposes of the magic. So the clone would count as the Winter Princess. If we can negotiate successfully with the Queen, then everyone gets something they want."

"So, in the meantime I should go take care of that other stuff. Since we need the clone to be there before we do the other stuff anyways," she said, still nervous but trying to deal with her fear as best she could.
