The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

"I wonder if he wants this bell back?" Anthony wonders as he looks around and find his row has been mostly deserted.

Kitty scanned the auditorium looking for Michael. She'd been hoping to quietly find a seat now that she was done performing but all the people running and screaming was making it difficult.

"You know, what this school really needs is a good summoning professor so these accidents stop happening," she said, shoulders shaking with silent laughter as the crestfallen performer grabbed as many of his bells as he could salvage and slunk off the stage.

"Right. Because for some reason I thought teaching was going to be a nice quiet job. Not like being a bartender at all...."

"You picked the wrong school for that."

"Okay, let's keep going. I'd just as soon find this thing before dark if it's at all possible."

"Agreed." Oneiro replies as he starts walking again, occasionally shaking a boot in an attempt to get the water out. After a while, the smell Jeran noticed, the scent of something sweet that can't quite cover up the smell of rotting flesh, becomes strong enough for everyone to notice. Every now and then the group passes by a small grouping of bright red flowers, speckled with black and gold. The seem to be growing in the oddest of shapes.

As strange as the flowers are, however, they don't keep the group from hearing the roar of a dweomercat coming from the left of their path.

A sphere of bronze force appears above the crowd.

Kitty heads towards the sphere, pushing her way through the crowd as best she could.

Jeran moved towards the left, putting himself in the most probable path for the dweomercat.

"Oh, screw it!" Michael says as he watches Kitty struggle through the crowd. Focusing, made all the harder by the crowd, Michael wraps Kitty in sphere and floats her over to him, gently bending her legs at the knees so she can float without having to worry about someone looking up. "Never a dull moment at Avalon, huh?"

Of everyone I can think of, only Ray and Kitty stand out. Kitty barely knows how to use her nature magic, and Ray was last seen on a wasteland of a pocket dimension, so....

Where can we find a good summoning teacher?

Kitty smiled widely. "That was so cool! I don't think I'll ever get tired of that."

She gave him a quick hug. "I hope you saved me a seat. I want to enjoy the rest of the performances with you."

Quick! Someone make a new character! A summoner who doesn't mind having a career in the brilliant field of education....you can stop laughing now. No, really. It's not that bad....Okay, it is that bad, but they grow on you....like mold....;P

I'd liken it more to a flesh eating virus sometimes...

...not helping.

And this is why we have so much trouble recruiting new teachers, folks. ;D

I was so sure it was the death and dismemberment rates of the school too! Guess I owe Keaton that 20 gold now...

She blushed. "Thank you."

Saffire jumped off of her hair and onto Michael's shoulder. *Meep*

Kitty giggled. "Sorry. He's a little miffed because I won't let him touch the yukata. I don't want claw holes in it. And apparently he's bored with perching on my hair."

Let me know when you get around to paying that so I can mark it out of the book. ;)

The gears are grinding. Figure I might toss a teacher into the mix.

"Why would he think that? Just cause I'm Blue?" During Anthony's performance in particular, Vai feels almost... exilerated. Something to do with all the Light flooding through the room.

Khassar casts Vomit Swarm to summon a swarm of army ants, and has them start moving in the direction of the dweomercat (good for 16 rounds).

"Well, yeah. Exactly."

"Okay, moving on. Now that folks are back in their seats and the wall of force is in place, Borin and Rintol will demonstrate how well they can break things....with their heads.....Guys, I'm pretty sure this isn't what Miss Jones meant when she told you to use your heads....Okay, okay! "Don't worry about it. Tiny holes in one of my shirts is not the worst thing to happen to them in this school." Michael reaches up and scratches under Saffire's chin, much to the drakes delight. "You know, with that octopus, I'm starting to think the school events I go to just have to a moment when people starting running for cover."

Image (doesn't have wings)

Kitty giggled. "Don't worry, it's not just the ones you go to. All the school events here are like that. It's just how Avalon is...you can't get this many powerful kids together in one place and not have regular moments when you need to run for cover."

Not long after the ant are sent toward the sound, there is a high, scratchy sound that might be a laugh.

"You sure? Cause you convinced me to go to that concert and that metal thing showed up..." Michael teases.

"Well, that was just an unfortunate coincidence...it's too bad that thing was all set on eating everyone. It was kinda cute....just imagine what a fun pet it would have been." <3

"Maybe we can make one like it but without the homicidal tendencies...a giant vegetarian monster would be awesome!"

Male Half-Elf

If the Book Club hadn't just killed one... :P

"Considering how spontaneous Saffire is with manifesting abilities, do you really think a bigger version is a smart thing? And that looked like it should hurt." Michael says as he watches Borin and Rintol start breaking things with their heads.

Image (doesn't have wings)

Vegetarian not vegetation. :P

"Yeah...oooh, that was six bricks! How do they not have permanent concussions?"

Male Half-Elf

The woodling template doesn't change creature type! ;) And how do you know it wasn't vegetarian? Yes, it attacked, but so will a horse if you make it angry enough! :P

As far as teachers go, I have an uncle that can do that. He teaches the summoners of our clan. Dunno that he'd leave the clan to come teach here..."

She laughed. "As entertaining as it is watching all the creative ways the summoners can screw up, I doubt the school is very happy about it. Well, they'll find another teacher eventually....probably."

"Well, it looks like this contest is a tie," Jorge said, coming back to the stage. "Since they both knocked themselves unconscious while trying to break ten bricks and six boards at the same time. So please be patient with us for a bit while we clean up the contestants and their debris from the stage."

Vai is a little confused at Fieri's response. What did her colour matter? Vai shrugs it off as she spots Sadie making her way back into the audience after her performance (if that's alright), moving over to a pair of half-ogres near the back. Vai smiles and waves.

Image

Sadie blushes and smiles as she waves back. The half ogres wave too. Their smiles are kinda scary, but it looks like they're trying to be friendly.

Female Half-elf Gestalt Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple9 // Rogue (Swashbuckler)8/Duelist7

Vai looks around, puts a hand on Fieri so she knows that nothing is wrong before Vai teleports over to Sadie. the half-ogres were a bit scary, but Vai could tell they were being nice. Vai is suddenly extremely conscious of the way she's dressed, but pushes her embarrassment aside and says: "You're dance was beautiful!"

Image

"Oh, thanks, I'm so glad you liked it.," she stammered. "Wow. Just wow. You look beautiful," she said, and blushed. "I mean, you always look beautiful...just that dress looks even more amazing than usual."

"Umm....this is Zren and Rikken," she said, introducing the half-ogres. "Guys, this is Vai."

"Hello, Vai," they said in unison, hunching down like they were trying to make themselves as small as possible.

Female Half-elf Gestalt Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple9 // Rogue (Swashbuckler)8/Duelist7

It was finally Vai's turn to blush as Sadie complimented her. "T-thank you." She stuttered, but she was unable to stop a smile spreading across her face. "Hello Zren. Hello Rikken." Vai curtsies to each of them in turn, blushing even more profusely as she remembers that Sadie told her that her curtsy was cute. This was, at least, distracting her from the size of the two men in front of her. She didn't feel scared at all.

Male Half-Elf

"You know, I think they might need a bit more practice." Michael notes as he watches the stage get cleaned up.

"I'm starting to get really tired of these damn tiger wannabes..." Oniero growls. "I just want a book! I don't care what else is there damn it!"

"Too bad, human." A quiet voice rasps. "This isn't your jungle..."

As if on command, the pretty red flowers-which seem to have crept closer- rise up into the air, revealing the corpses they were feeding on, and swarm at the group with surprising speed. They close around the group and start trying to take root in their flesh.

Zren and Rikken tried to bow, but it was an awkward effort.

"I don't think we did that right...it looked different in the picture."

"Yeah, but it's hard to know without a mirror. Etee-kwett is hard."

"Hey, Sadie, can you ask her for us?"

"Pretty please?"

Sadie was trying not to laugh.

"Zren and Rikken have been trying very hard to learn manners and they've been studying a book they got out of the library. It's geared more towards children, but that's alright. Anyways, thanks to the book they've got their hearts set on having a tea party and they wanted to know if you would like to come? If you're not already busy that is...I think they were planning to do it tomorrow, but I'm sure they can reschedule it to a more convenient time if that doesn't work."

Jeran focused on speed over power this time, claws out as he kept in constant motion.

Each attack is against a different flower.
Attacks:
1d20 + 24 ⇒ (15) + 24 = 39
1d20 + 24 ⇒ (13) + 24 = 37
1d20 + 24 ⇒ (18) + 24 = 42

1d20 + 24 ⇒ (19) + 24 = 43
1d20 + 24 ⇒ (12) + 24 = 36
Damage:
1d8 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
1d8 + 8 ⇒ (3) + 8 = 11
1d8 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
1d8 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16

Vai smiles as the half-ogres make their attempts. This was something Vai knew very well. Her mother had been sure to teach her this at least. "The depth of your bow (or curtsy) shows a level of formality, or respect. You had the basics right, just need to keep your back and bit straighter and don't bend your knees as much." Vai instructs Zren and Rikken for a few moments before replying to Sadie's tea party invitation. "Well... I have harp lessons with my sister tomorrow... what time were you thinking?"

Image

Sadie looked over at Zren and Rikken who both shrugged.

"I think their schedules are pretty open. Why don't you decide what time would work best? Even if it isn't tomorrow. They're really excited about it, but they might be able to use some extra time to prepare."

"We want to make it nice," Zren said.

Rikken nodded. "Yeah, to match the nice girl. Thank you for explaining about the bowing."

"We're trying hard to learn how to act around hoomans and other small peoples," Zren finished.

Female Half-elf Gestalt Sorcerer6/Dragon Disciple9 // Rogue (Swashbuckler)8/Duelist7

Vai smiled and nodded to Zren. "Well, you're doing a good job so far! I... I'm kinda shy... and a bit of a scardey cat, but you guys have made me feel completely comfortable so far." Vai beamed at the pair. "Maybe sometime during the week? I don't know how busy we'll be with fencing..." Vai trails off as she examines Sadie's ribbon costume. It really is beautiful.

"Yeah, that would be good."

"More time to prepare."

"Maybe we can learn how to make the little cookie things?"

"Only if they let us back in the kitchen after the cupcake disaster."

"Well...maybe we can convince them to make the little cookies for us to keep us out of the kitchen?"

"This is very smart strategerizing."
